Cisco ASA - Anyconnect VPN - DAP to restrict access

Hello

I havn't any way proven or description if this is possible with the asa. I'm trying to find a solution were based on the users of Active Directory groups are only in the use of VPN.

I wannt all "AllVPNUsers" users are able to connect and can only access a server in-house.

If a user is in the group "AllDevelopers-VPN" they should be able to access all the servers in a specified subnet

If a user is in the "AllDevOps" group they should not have any restrictions.

is it possible with one asa 5512-X?

Best regards

Daniel

Hi Daniel,.

You can use mapping of LDAP attributes where one ad group can be mapped to a group policy which will give access to specific networks.
Here is a document that you can reference. Please do not hesitate to share if there is no problem.

    Hello

You've got license for 250 users anyconnect so unless you are having more users than this number, it shouldn't be a problem. Debugs could help reduce the problem in this case.

  • Cisco ASA 5510 VPN Site to Site with Sonicwall

I am trying to configure a tunnel between a Cisco ASA 5510 VPN (Version 8.2 (2)) and TZ200 Sonicwall. I rose tunnel and go and I am able to ping the internal IP address of Cisco ASA of the Sonicwall LAN but nothing work. When I try to ping a host behind the Cisco ASA of the Sonicwall LAN I get the following message "rules asymmetrical NAT matched for flows forward and backward; Connection for tcp src outside:10.20.10.x/xxxx dst inside:10.20.2.x/xxxx refused due to failure of reverse path of NAT"on the SAA

Googling the error above shows the problems with version 8.3 or later that resembled the nat commands have been changed SAA, train is still on 8.2 but I another common question does not add an exemption of NAT I have double-triple checked that I did add an exception rule of NAT of the hosts on the network from cisco for the guests of the Sonicwall network. Looks like I hit a road block so any help would be appreciated. Thank you

    Hello Manjitriat,

Okay, detected IPSEC parody is normal, that means you are trying to send unencrypted on a line of encrypted packets.

Now, if you see on the plotter of package that traffic will hollow the VPN channel all its fine in your site.

Now the packet tracer must be something like this:

    entrance to Packet-trace inside private_ip_lan destination_private_ip_lan 1025 tcp 80

Please provide us with the result of the following instructions after you run the packet tracer.

You must test with 'real' traffic on 192.168.1.2 and if you use ping, you must add icmp-inspection:

  • Cisco ASA 5505 VPN Site to Site

    Hi all

First post on the forums. I have worked with Cisco ASA 5505 for a few months and I recently bought a 2nd ASA to implement tunnel VPN Site to Site. It seems so simple in the number of videos watched on the internet. But when I did he surprise it did work for me... I've removed the tunnels, a number of times and tried to recreate. I use the VPN Wizard in the SMA to create the tunnel. Both the asa 5505 of are and have the same firmware even etc..

I'd appreciate any help that can be directed to this problem please.  Slowly losing my mind

    Hello

There are some clear problems I see on a quick glance. These are not related to the actual VPN configuration but rather the NAT configurations.

All your configuration of NAT CLI format above are configured as manual NAT / double NAT in Section 1. This means that the appliance NAT configurations have been added to the same section of the NAT configurations and scheduling of the NAT inside this Section rules is the cause of the problem for the L2L VPN connection for some.

Here are a few suggestions on what to change

    ASA1

    Minimal changes

the object of the LAN network

    192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0

    being REMOTE-LAN network

    255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0

NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

That means foregoing is first of all create 'object' that contain the local LAN and remote LANs. Then, it creates a NAT0 rule and adds to the top rules NAT. (number 1). It is essentially of at least one of the problems preventing the VPN operation or traffic that cross.

Finally, we remove the old rule that generated the ASDM. It would do the same thing if it has been moved to the top, but I generally find the creation of the 'object' with descriptive names easier on the eyes in the long term.

    Other suggestions

These changes are not necessary with regard to the VPN L2L. Here are some suggestions how to clean a part of NAT configurations.

    PAT-SOURCE network object-group

    source networks internal PAT Description

    object-network 192.168.10.0 255.255.255.0

    object-network 192.168.20.0 255.255.255.0

    object-network 192.168.40.0 255.255.255.0

NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source

No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface

no nat (wireless, outdoors) source Dynamics one interface

no nat (servers, outside) no matter what source dynamic interface

The above configuration creates a "object-group" that lists all internal networks that you have dynamic PAT configured so far. It then uses the ' object-group ' in a command unique 'nat' to manage the dynamic PAT for all internal networks (with the exception of printers who had nothing at first). Then we remove the old PAT dynamic configurations.

Contains the command "nat" "car after" because it moving this "nat" configuration to the bottom of the NAT rules. For this reason its less likely to cause problems in the future.

no nat (servers, external) static source NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.20.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.50.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

The above configuration is supposed to create a NAT0 configuration for traffic between the network and the pool of Client VPN server. To my knowledge the old configuration that remove us is not used because the traffic would have matched PAT rule dynamic server yet rather than this rule which is later in the NAT configurations and would not be addressed.

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.

    ASA2

    Minimal changes

the object of the LAN network

    255.255.255.0 subnet 192.168.100.0

    being REMOTE-LAN network

    192.168.10.0 subnet 255.255.255.0

NAT (inside, outside) 1 static source LAN LAN to static destination REMOTE - LAN LAN

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.10.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

    Other suggestions

    PAT-SOURCE network object-group

    object-network 192.168.100.0 255.255.255.0

NAT interface (it is, outside) the after-service automatic PAT-SOURCE dynamic source

No source (indoor, outdoor) nat Dynamics one interface

The above configuration is supposed to do the same thing with the other ASA. Although given that this network contains only a single subnet it cleans the "nat" configurations exist that much. But the order of the "nat" configurations is changed to avoid further problems with the NAT order.

no nat source (indoor, outdoor) public static NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.100.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 NETWORK_OBJ_192.168.1.0_24 non-proxy-arp-search of route static destination

It seems to me that network 192.168.1.0/24 is not configured from anywhere in your network. Therefore, the above 'nat' configuration seems useless, can be deleted. If I missed something and its use in then of course do not remove it.

I suggest trying the changes related to VPN L2L first NAT0 configurations and test traffic. So who gets the work of connectivity, then you could consider changing other NAT configurations. There are other things that could be changed also in what concerns THAT static NAT servers but that probably better left for another time.

Hope this makes any sense and has helped

  • Routing with Cisco ASA 5520 VPN

I have installed IPsec vpn remote users in the Cisco ASA 5520 using RADIUS in my main network. Works very well. I have a site to my Cisco ASA5520 tunnels going to other sites, some of the tunnels have Cisco ASA and some have SonicWalls. I wish that my users VPN remote IPSec to be able to navigate in these tunnels is a site to access remote subnets attached to these tunnels. Do I need to use a combination of routing and the ACL? Or can I just use ACL only? Or just use routing only?

    Thank you

    Carlos

    Hello

The key to set up here is the two ACL of VPN L2L end points that determine the 'interesting' traffic to connect VPN L2L. You will also need to confirm that the connection of the VPN Client is configured so that traffic to the remote sites have sent to the connection of the VPN client. There are also other things that you should check on your ASA plant

Here most of the things you usually have to confirm

    • Set up 'permit same-security-traffic intra-interface' if it is already present in your configuration

      • This setting will allow connections to form between the hosts that are connected to the same interface on the ASA. In this case, applies because the VPN client users are connected to the interface 'outside' of the ASA and also remote sites are connected to the ASA to "external". If the traffic between the remote VPN Client and VPN L2L sites will be to enter and exit the same interface
    • You will need to check how the customer if configured VPN connection. Split or full Tunnel tunnel
      • If the connection of the VPN Client is configured as Split Tunnel then you need to add all the networks from the remote to the Split Tunnel, so that the connections between the VPN Client is transmitted to the ASA and from there connections VPN L2L
      • If the connection of the VPN Client is configured as full Tunnel, then there no problem that all traffic is transferred to the Client VPN connection all its assets
    • Define the VPN pool in the ACL of VPN L2L
      • You should make sure that the pool network VPN Client is defined in the ACL that define 'interesting' traffic to connect VPN L2L. So, you need to add the pool VPN VPN L2L configurations on the sites of Central America and remote control
    • Configure NAT0 / NAT exempt for remote VPN Client to L2L VPN Site traffic at both ends of the VPN L2L
      • You must ensure that the NAT0 / exempt NAT rules exist for the VPN Client for Remote Site traffic. This will have to be configured on the SAA "outside" interface. Format of configuration varies naturally a bit on the ASA Central his software level.

These should be the most common things to set up and confirm for traffic to flow between the VPN Client and Remote Sites

Hope this helps please rate if yes or ask more if necessary.

  • Cisco Cert Anyconnect VPN

    All the

What is the advantage of purchasing a Cert compared to create our own?

What is the process for buying a Cisco Cert for court Anyconnect VPN?

A certificate issued by a well-known root certification authority will be automatically approved by most of the clients, which means they can't click past warnings / download your local certificate manually during the connection. Cisco does not sell certificates that they do not work a certification authority root in public. Any number of providers offer this service well (Entrust, GoDaddy, Verisign, Thawte etc.).

Create your own requires a bit more expertise configuration and involves usually have your customers that is always click past warnings or manually install your local signed certificate in their trusted certificate store - generally regarded as binding by most end-users and inspiring potentially much more than calls from your home office or help of TI.

  • Cisco ASA 5505 VPN passthrough

    Hello

@home i'f installed a Cisco asa 5505 because the provider has the modem cable in transparent mode. So I have the public IP address to my firewall.

Also for the training because we have in the work of the asa. So I have no feeling with her.

but sometimes I have to build a VPN session to a server at work. But I do not get a connection to the server. If I remove the ASA 5505, then the connection to the server of work is great. But if to ASA 5505 is back in its place. It does not log VPN to the outside world.

Could someone point me in the right direction?

It is possible to create a connection out to the Cisco ASA5505 VPN.

    Thanks in advance

    Greetings

    Palermo

    Hi Palermo,

You do not have to mention the type of VPN connection, you use.

If the PPTP protocol then you need to inspect the traffic for the SAA allow again from 'outside '. Try the following:

     ! class-map inspection_default match default-inspection-traffic ! policy-map global_policy class inspection_default inspect pptp ! service-policy global_policy global !

    see you soon,

    SEB.

    Hi Javi,

Please after the release of "see broadcasting DfltGrpPolicy of any political group." See if you have the "vpn-idle-timoeout" command configured in that. If so, please change to "vpn-idle-timeout no" and see if that stops at these popping up error messages.

The reason why you see the message is because you have a dynamic access policy refuse your connection, because your system does not meet the requirements.

  • Cisco ASA AnyConnect SSL VPN - certificates + token?

    Hello

I'm looking for an answer is it possible such configuration:

The Cisco AnyConnect SSL VPN service with two-factor - first method is the Microsoft CA certificate local and second method - a token solution Symantec VIP password?

I don't know if two-factor authentication is user/password from Active Directory + OTP by Symantec VIP there is no problem, because you can send the user + pass with Radius, but with certificates I do not really understand who will check the validity of the certificate, which certificate, we will send you to the RADIUS for the validation server and how the configuration of the point of view of ASA will look like.

Thank you very much for the help!

    Hi Alex,

I don't see a problem with having certificate + token to connect to the VPN. Certificate authentication must be performed on the SAA, see an example below:

    https://supportforums.Cisco.com/blog/152941/AnyConnect-certificate-based-authentication

Authentication token can be specified as primary/secondary (authentication SDI) on the SAA, an example below:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/security/vpn_client/AnyConnect/anyconnect31/Administration/Guide/anyconnectadmin31/ac11authenticate.html#pgfId-1060345

I'm not positive that's causing the problem, but I noticed that you have defined incoherent poolside VPN as a 24 (in the command name and that name is associated with the tunnel group) and 25 (in the command object on the network that is also referenced in the statement of NAT exempting NAT to that object). True your pool assigns addresses from the lower half of the 24, but still...

I try to simplify things by using a single object for something like that, which is used in several places. With the help of objects the way they are intended, and which allows to avoid any discrepancies.

I run in trouble with one of my l2l ipec vpn between an asa 5510 and 5520 cisco running version 8.2.2.

Our existing l2l VPN are connected fine and work very well. Currently SITE a (10.10.0.0/16) connects to the SITE B (10.20.0.0/16). SITE A connects to SITE C (10.100.8.0/21). These are OK.

What is a failure is when I try to connect SITE B to SITE C. The tunnel coming up and phase 1 and 2 complete successfully. However, even if in the course of execution: ' entry packet - trace within the icmp 10.20.8.2 8 0 detailed 10.100.8.1 ' I get the following:

    Phase: 10

    Type: VPN

    Subtype: encrypt

    Result: DECLINE

    Config:

    Additional information:

Direct flow from returns search rule:

    ID = 0xad1c4500, priority = 70, domain = encrypt, deny = false

    hits = 609, user_data = 0 x 0, cs_id = 0xad1c2e10, reverse, flags = 0 x 0 = 0 protocol

    SRC ip = 10.20.0.0, mask is 255.255.0.0, port = 0

    DST ip = 10.100.8.0, mask is 255.255.248.0, port = 0, dscp = 0 x 0

I noticed that when the tunnel came, the road to 10.100.8.0/21 was added in the routing table and cyrpto what ACL has not been applied on the SAA remote. I added the route manually but cannot get the cryto ACL to apply.

I've been struggling with this these days. Any help is very appreciated!

    Thank you!!

    Follow these steps:

no card outside_map 10-isakmp ipsec crypto dynamic outside_dyn_map

    map outside_map 65535-isakmp ipsec crypto dynamic outside_dyn_map

clear crypto ipsec its SITE_B_Public peer

Try again and attach the same outputs.

    Let me know.

    Thank you.

  • Cisco ASA 5510 VPN user Auth

    Hi all.

I search the internet to find a way or all first, whether it is possible to do what I want to do, but I can't find anything corresponding to what I'm looking for. Possible that I don't have the right keyword.

We change our old Pix 515e this weekend and for any new ASA 5510.

With this new facility, I want to implement Radius Authentication for the user remote vpn. Change the firewall of the company is an important factor and for the first phase, the user will keep authenticate locally but I need that in phase 2, they will be authenticated through a radius server.

Is there a way to configure both user authentication remote vpn?

    For example.

All users will be authenticated locally unless the service member COMPUTER that is authenticated by the radius to the testing server.

I have remote vpn users anywhere in the world if I don't want these users are blocked by the radius authentication test. What I want is that users in Group1 will be authenticated locally on the SAA and users in group2 will be authenticated by the RADIUS. During the test will be done, all users will gradually transfer for radius authentication.

    Is it possible

    Thank you

    Hi Jonathan,.

The best way to go about this would be that you set up another group strategy & corresponding tunnel group named Test and set up Radius Authentication for VPN group using the link below: -.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/products/HW/vpndevc/ps2030/products_configuration_example09186a00806de37e.shtml

Ones you have done test and feel confident, you can change the type of authentication for the Production Group. The reverse could be implemented double authentication as RADIUS and if it does not use local but personally I'll put up a group of test and then those I am confident, that I'll change the strategy of Production Group to use the Radius Server to auth.
