Cisco router linksys e1000 wireless

a friend of my sister bought a cisco router (see the above subject line). Unfortunately, I was not home at the same time. Currently, there are a desktop wired to the router and a laptop with a Wi - Fi connection. The person who set up the router I forgot the username and the password of the router (didn't even bother to write this info). I convey my computer laptop home from work where I had a connection to internet/router. My laptop (Dell classroom business), I can see the two connections without wire (secured and unsecured comments). When I try to connect to the secure connection I do not get any screen of security, connection, etc., guests. He said something like 'try to check the security info' - do not remember the exact verbage. Anyway, I can not connect. The signal strength is strong - the bars are green. Can connect to the connection of comments, I am not always invited for any connection and safety info. Run the ipconfig/all command confirms the connection. I have still no internet access. Don't know why, but the signal strength readings 'poor' - a single green bar (while the secure connection shows all the force green signal bars). I have installed / configured several wireless - never had a problem.  I need to recover the connection info router without having to perform a hard reset on the router (I have same access limitted in my house of sisters/partners where the router). Is there a way to do it. I spoke twice to the cisco technical support and received two different answers (not according to the first call, open Explorer, go to programs/cisco for the info). This must be done on the computer that was used to install the cisco installation disc). Help, please!

There are a lot of things I want to share with you on your router E1000 installation:

1 E1000 comes with an installation CD that has CIsco Connect (the icon looks like a house) to easily manage your wireless network (you can easily get your password for the Cisco connection). Cisco Connect (CCC) is generally accessible to the computer that is first used to install the router (maybe this is why the tech officer ask you to go to the computer used to install this)

2 E1000 broadcasts 2 signals of the main network and - network of comments. Once you click on the name of the network, you can easily connect the guest network seems to be unsecured However, when you access a Web site you will be asked a password. Always secure line.

3. you can actually access to internet but not wireless cable but to the router.

4. If you don't have the computer used to install the router, you must reconfigure and the first thing to do is to reset the router. You must configure manually if you do not have the installation cd.

  • Lights down router Linksys E1000 power flashing

I'm on a surge protector, and we lost power last night.  This morning we were stilling experiencing a Brown out but power is now back 100%.  I went through the reset of the E1000 router and not matter what I do, all the lights except the power light blink quickly and weakly.  Could the router FRY anything on a surge protector?  It is less than 6 months old so I hope still covered by the warranty.  A reflection as to if it is fried?  Or just need some time to reset?

Here's what worked for me with power cycling and the reset button fail:

    1. unplug ALL the cords of the router, including the power.

    2. with your computer and running, plug in an ethernet cable from the Router #1 output input your computer's ethernet.

    3. turn on the router by plugging the power cord. You should immediately notice the stop flashing and the router begins to start normally.

Replace the ethernet cable to connect the modem to the router and leave the finishing initialize-go to top. This is what worked for me. There is a small chance, it was just a coincidence, but I doubt it and I hope it works for you.

Unless you are connected to the router via USB - the likely router isn't the issue.  There is no need of drivers for your system (Windows XP, Vista, 7;) Linux; OS X; Android; iOS...) for the router itself - only wireless computer device used to connect to ANY wireless access point.

-Discover drivers for any wireless network is installed in your laptop that allows it to connect to wireless access points - and visit the manufacturer for drivers and software updated.

    Hi Devar,

When you configure a new Wifi router immediately, you can connect to the radio

you have to go on the wireless router and you also need an ethernet cable to connect the router to your pc wirelessly

normally all routers come with an installation cd. But if it does not

Open your web browser and type the ip address of the default gateway

The IP address of the Linksys routers is 192.168.1.1

from there, you can set the security features and everything and after that you have set up passwords and everything please connect your modem to the wireless router so that you can access the internet

to manage your network wirelessly with the windows wireless client, please activate your Automatic Configuration WZC wireless

follow these steps to activate the automatic Wireless Configuration

Start menu - click on RUN

type in SERVICES. Scroll down the list until you see SMC Wireless Auto Configuration

Double-click and should be in service type: automatic

and also, click Start to start the service.

    Hope that helps

  • Linksys E1000-N Wireless mode

I have a problem with my router. The Linksys E1000.

In my opinion, that it supports Wireless-N mode, so my wireless lan card which is the Atheros AR5B93 (also known as the Acer Nplify 802.11 b/g/n). When I connect to the router, it connects only mode normal wireles, so not b, g or n. But when I look at the customer router Tabel all devices connected to the router in Wireless-G mode. Even my laptop connects Wireless-G mode.

I want to have my laptop connected to Wireless-N mode. What should I do to make this work?

    (Sorry for my bad English!)

If you connect to 130Mbps, you are already in N mode (everything above 54, 75Mbps even limited most adapters 1/1 N). I thought that the problem in your whas OP the plain inability to be stuck with g 54 Mbit/s.

TBH, the difference in speed between (up to 150Mbps) 20 MHz or 40 MHz (up to 300Mbps) 2.4 GHz is almost zero, unlike 5 GHz. If you visit this link , you will see that is happening in this model during a test in the two modes at various distances, where 20 MHz may even work better further.

But if you really want to connect at 300Mbps, what is the problem if we let him just "wpa2-PSK', 'auto 20/40' and 'mixed mode' if it is already connected in N 300Mbps mode? When it is set to that, an adapter is only 54 Mbit/s if it is G only. Beware that your router might go down later to 20 Mhz (130Mbps) if other networks that overlap can be found on the channel extended because of the rule N.

BTW, if you use only "N" and "auto 20/40" stays in 130Mpbs, by setting a channel manually * could * force it to 300Mbps even if only for a certain time (see above). " After applying these changes, always disconnect and reconnect your adaptor. If you do not, your windows reported speed will remain the same (130 when 300 is possible).

Using a program like inSSIDer will tell you the maximum supported speed for SSID of your router

In addition, if the customer table of your router tells you that it is in wireless mode, well, it's because it is. Wireless mode refers only to a Wifi hotspot, no matter if A/B/G/N, the opposite of being locally through an ethernet cable.

You must 'telnet' to the device using the windows command prompt or a similar terminal emulator (PuTTY, etc.).  So instead of using your browser and go to the 10.10.10.1 address you type 'telnet 10.10.10.1' in the command prompt or terminal emulator.  From there you would connect to the router with your identifying information (must be the same that you use for SDM).  Then once you are at the prompt of the router (router >) you type 'enable' and apply the specific enable password to get to the privilege EXEC or activate the command prompt (router #).  From there the instructions you have (probably from page 38 of the present document).

If you are not familiar with the command line Interface or CLI, then you must be very careful with what you do for not not misconfigure something else.  I recommend reading through a Cisco IOS command reference guide (based on the version of IOS for your router is running) first and also make sure that when you make changes to apply to memory with a command "write mem" to the "router #" prompt when you are sure that you have made the change you want and need to save it.

If you are not very familiar with the CLI then I HIGHLY recommend some initial self-study and reading before attempting anything in CLI on a 'live' router that is in production.  The consequences can be severe if mistakes are made.

    Good luck!

  • 4600 pro connects to the Linksys WAG354 Wireless router!

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600 with internal wireless card. I'm trying to connect to my Linksys WAG354 wireless router. The laptop seems to connect but only get a connection status ' Limited or no connectivity "note computer says it has problem because the network has not assigned a network address of the computer.

I called Linksys, but the call center do not have a lot of help! They said that I should update the driver for the Toshiba wireless... I did that, but still the same problem.

I am running windows XP. I have two other laptops connected to the router WAG354 and they work fine.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hello

I agree with Michael. I think that some false setting is responsible for this. If your network is visible for the laptop, the features of the card are OK and the problem parameters.

  • We add a wireless "router sub" or to our current router Linksys router cascading

    Hello

Add a router under or a router cascade to our current Linksys router because when we have people at the meetings, we do not want our regular wireless accessible by all.  We look at the HD Video Pro EA6500.  Do we need to buy a bridge?  No matter who is the master and who is the slave?  Are there more questions, what should I ask?  The EA6500 is compatible with all other models of Linksys?   I read some of the questions and answers on this forum of the Linksys community but I don't know where I should start.

    Thank you very much.

  • Can't make an Apple iPod Touch to connect to my new Linksys WRT54GL Wireless router.

    Hello.

I'm trying to set up the iPod Touch (bought for more than a year; using v2.2 (5 G 77) firmware) of the of my client to connect to my new encrypted Linksys WRT54GL Wireless router. After we entered the password (too many sensitive cases and WPA shared key) as five times, he said "Failed to join"FooBarWRT54GL"" immediately.

The router uses the latest firmware v4.30.13 with these wireless settings:
Wireless network mode: Mixed (you want to support the devices/clients and B).
Wireless Network Name (SSID) example: FooBarWRT54GL
    Wireless channel: 1-2, 412 GHZ
    Security mode: WPA2 Personal
    WPA algorithms: TKIP + AES
Example of WPA Shared key: Abunchofletters aspacetoo

I guess that this device can do WPA Personal as she saw the WAP and requested a password. We have not had any problems with a year old 15 "MacBook Pro (2.4 Ghz and Mac OS X 10.5.8) and it's easy as cake.

Any ideas? Thank you in advance.

I finally got to work, with the help of Apple at the forum: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10650288... I had to do a manual configuration. Don't know why selecting the WAP and entering his password/password didn't work.

    Finally a resolution...

I tried running an ePrint of New York telephone, and it worked, but still no luck wirelessly from the PC printing.

He said that the WiFi was indeed working.  So, I did a search for new firmware and found that there was one in April of this year (2016).  Downloaded and took a chance on install.  To my amazement, it is actually installed on the printer without any connection "connected".  Who told me that there is an existing wireless link.

Once the install is complete firmware, I tried to print a worksheet Excel from the PC, and it actually printed!  I have to assume there was something in the formware upgrade which allowed the router from LinkSys (WRT1900AC) to communicate fully and to work with the PC.  The router was published in 2014, so maybe it was.

In any event, everything is in fully working again.

Man y thanks to all who have shared their data entry.  I hope this could help someone with a similar problem in the future.

    Thanks again!

    Mark
