CiscoWorks LMS 3.2 exporting bulk Configuration

Hello

Does anyone know an easy way to bulk export configurations off Ciscoworks LMS 3.2?  The only thing I found is the cli command export config u cwcli.exe - p-unit %, but it exports in XML format which is not very readable.  Prefer a text file format.  Someone at - it suggestions?

Thank you

Brian

Hi Brian,.

CLI, it is the only option, but what you can do to get the files in TEXT format is, you can connect to the server and

go to this site: NMSROOT\CSCOpx\files\rme\dcma\shadow

and

NMSROOT\CSCOpx\files\rme\dcma\devfiles

Thank you-

  • First management LAN CiscoWorks LMS or Cisco? Help

In my business, we look adds a network management solution:

Some time ago, we installed CiscoWorks LMS 3.2, but we decided to install on the other more modern solution, what is the solution which recommend me?

    Requeriments:

1 000 devices from cisco management.

    Regularly perform massive configurations.

Constant monitoring of the network infrastructure.

    Backups of configuration.

    We have two solutions:

-Update the current CiscoWorks to LMS 4.x version

-buy the "First Cisco LAN Management" Solution

    What solution that recommend me?

    Thank you for your attention.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Jeffersson,

The current product packaging is a bit confusing. Cisco is rebranding all of their management under the aegis of the first Cisco solutions. All prime products have a common appearance and take advantage of some approaches architectural.  From LMS 3.2 on 4.x will put you in the first territory of Cisco.

In the 'first' products are (among others) "Cisco first Infrastructure" (also known as PI - 1.2 is the current version) and "Cisco first LMS" (4.2.3 is current). Preferred Infrastructure (1.0) began in the successor to management wireless Cisco (NCS) product and had been adding features on the way to bring it up to parity with LMS functionality to wired infrastructure. He isn't quite there right now (current comparison here) that existing customers of LMS are usually advised to stick with the latest version of the LMS for now.

Still with me? Good. If the extra twist is that 4.2 LMS is "included" with licenses of FT 1.2 - see the link guide below. So, if you want LMS 4.x, you order indeed 1.2 FT with licenses "Cycle of life" according to the number of devices you manage. (There also is 'respect' and 'insurance' adding these new features of the respective licenses. Compliance is available from LMS 4.2 in the CAAM.  Insurance is almost a FT 1.2 functionality only.)

So my recommendation to you would be to upgrade to version 1.2 of PI and to install and to use the LMS 4.2 (4.2.3 and put patched up-to-date with all the packaging of the products). If you have a VMware configuration, deployment option flexible device (file eggs) is the easier implementation,.

You may find it useful to explain this point of view of Cisco the following two links:

    Functional reference LMS

Control of IP and Licensing Guide

Don't worry not-all this will not be on the test.

  • Export of Configuration MAX?

    I just don't understand?

What is the point of the feature to import/export of Configuration MAX and why my version of the installer allows (not need) to set?

We have a project that has been developed on a chassis NI PXI-1044. He now resides in a configuration management system, and sometimes we want to remove to make changes and build on a system that now knows nothing about PXI/chassis/controllers/etc, etc. In fact we have more material. But this Configuration hardware option within the construction of the Installer seems to require a configuration by MAX file on the host system used for the generation of the project. Is no longer the PXI-1044 chassis but another PC altogether.

Why is this hardware configuration option exists? What is its usefulness when it comes to the installation of an integrated (such as an installation program) project. Why I can't live without it?

It is perhaps a fundamental issue, but it makes no sense to me. I come from a background of the conventional script-based programming (C / C + c++ / Ada etc.).

    Thank you.

The hardware configuration is not at all unique to LabVIEW and you also use it with all the other languages where appropriate. The configuration includes the names of devices, custom scales, tasks, etc. Include you the configuration that you have created on the original pc or recreate it on the deployed pc. If you have not used MAX for any configuration, so you do not need to export/import but correct detection name, scales, etc. have all be integrated into the program itself.

  • CiscoWorks LMS 4.1 monitor temperature

    Hello everyone!

I am creating a poller to monitor the trap of the temperature of my cisco catalyst 2960 Ciscoworks LMS 4.1.

I created a snmp trap on my device:

    Switch(conf-t) # snmp-server <@IP_server_LMS>SNMPv2c host -I use SNMPv2c

Switch(conf-t) # Server enable snmp traps envmon temperature

I created a MIB model Envmon with these variables:

    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureThreshold

    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusValue
    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureState
    -ciscoEnvMonTemperatureLastShutdown

I created a poller associated with my model, I add my device and when I click on 'Next', I have this error message:

    ###

No instance are in the devices. This could be because the device is inaccessible, the device does not have the case for selected models or the timeout value is low.

    ###

Could someone explain to me why I can't monitor MIB?

Thanks for your consideration and Merry Christmas to all!

It seems that most of the 2960 have a temperature sensor implemented in hardware and therefore, it shows no values.

If a device does not show anything on CLI, it is almost impossible that it will display something via SNMP.

  • Impossible to export the configuration of IOM - export popup window closes

    Hi all

I have improved my OpenSUSE 12.3 to 13.1 and now I am not able to export the configuration of the IOM. When I click on export in the System Administration Portal, the popup window is opened and closed immediately.

I have the same problem on Windows 7 with JAVA more recent.

Very interesting, is that the export of the IOM 11.1.2.1.0 configuration works very well. In the version 11.1.2.2.0 not!

Do you know how to solve this problem? (btw. I don't want to demean my Linux or Windows with Java)

I think it is a bug in the IOM.

    Thanks and greetings

  • Export the configuration information for each group

How to export the configuration information for each group? (I want to see the information that this group has read or write access to the cube XXXXX)

By LCM, I was able to export information on groups and users. But no information about its commissioning. can any body tell me how can I get the configuration of shared services information

We have a utility to do this, or can we get this information using LCM?

Any information about him will be useful

    Thank you

The commissioning is under Application groups > Foundation > Shared Services > native Directory > assigned roles > then choose the product / app

There is a utility command line available if you want to automate the process of execution of export - Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Lifecycle Management Guide, you create the definition of migration file but which can be done by running an export.

    Hello

I trusted recon about 20 k users of TFTP.
With the help of accesspolicies I need to grow near 8 k users in downstream applications.
Because of the connection pooling issues/network, if the target system fails,.
What is the way to make a new attempt to bulk of all configuration tasks failed.

    All entries on this.

    Concerning
    Vicky

All the tasks in a rejected State are listed in the table of ITO. Also on standby and waiting are here, but you can query to simply rejected. Then you can either start over in bulk

    retryTasks (long [] taskInstanceKeys)

or try one at a time

    retryTask (long plTaskInstanceKey

You can create a simple scheduled task to retry them.

  • How to reset the password on a Windows-based CiscoWorks LMS 3.2?

I have problems with the procedure for recovery of password on a 3.2 CiscoWorks installation. The problem is that I have no idea what versions of software are running (track never cared).

    Thank you very much

regdaemon. XML has been damaged. It is therefore more correct XML. It was probably truncated in the feeding tube. If you don't have a good backup of LMS, you must uninstall and reinstall LMS from scratch. You will not be able to preserve your data because restore this file regdaemon.xml will corrupt so all future installations.

  • Backup and managing configurations on ONS 15454 devices

We have a lot of ONS 15454 and CiscoWorks LMS 4 apparently does not support these devices (I can't pick the cards ML1000 configurations or configs of chassis).

Can I save the configurations of the STC cards/chassis using the CTC? I see a backup option of database under maintenance contract, but I'm not entirely of this make. Basically, I want to assure you that if one of these devices suffers a hardware failure, I have backups of the way in which the circuits are provided.

Is there a better tool to use?

    Any advice would be great

For nodes to backup through the CTC, the Cisco ONS 15454 procedure Guides describe the steps to be taken to save the nodes (section below the latest version is:)

Cisco Transport Manager is a management system of item available for the largest optical networks and has features to back up the databases of several nodes.

    =========

    NTP-A108 back up the database

    Goal

This procedure saves a backup version of the TCC2/TCC2P (software) database on the workstation running Cisco transport (CTC) controller or a network server.

    Tools/equipment

    None

    Pre-trial proceedings

    None

    Required / have required

Mandatory. Cisco recommends to perform a backup of database at intervals of about a week and before and after configuration changes.

    Onsite / remote

    On-site or remotely

    Security level

    Maintenance or higher

Note You need to back up and restore the database for each node on a path of the circuit in order to maintain a complete circuit.

Note The following settings are not backed up and restored: node name and Internet Inter - ORB Protocol (IIOP) port. If you change the name of the node and restore a backup of a database with a different node name, the circuits map to the new node name. Cisco recommends keeping a record of the old and new node names.

Step 1 Complete the "DLP-A60 Log into CTC" task at the node that you want to back up. If you are already connected, go to step 2.

Step 2 Click it maintenance > Database tabs.

    Step 3 Click on backup.

Step 4 Save the database on the hard drive of the workstation or network storage. Use a file name with the extension of .db file. for example, database.db.

    Step 5 Click Save.

Step 6 Click OK in the confirmation dialog box.

Stop. You have completed this procedure.

  • DFM in Ciscoworks.

    Hello

I'll put up device Fault Manager in Ciscoworks LMS 3.0.1

For the moment, we used what is gold (ping) to alert the team of Technical Support if the devices go down. As you can imagine, they receive hundreds of emails every day to inform them that these devices are going up and down etc...

Ciscoworks may draw attention to more detailed information, I would like to alerts configuration for the team of support when the devices goes down/crash/inaccessible etc. using SNMP. These devices do any configuration on them to attract the attention of Ciscowork. They are already syslogs send to the Ciscoworks server. What settings will suffice for these devices down?

Also, I have more questions, for notification of SNMP trap on the Ciscoworks server, what information should I put here?

    DFM version is 3.0.2

    Thanks 1million

    Anthony.

First of all, I highly recommend that upgrade you to 3.0.3 DFM. There is a serious enough problem that can cause the whole of the LMS to failure if some that are installed on the system. This bug is fixed in 3.0.3 DFM.

If you wish to inform your operators based on syslog messages, you can set up automated actions to do so under RME > tools > Syslog > automated Actions. Any time a corresponding syslog message is processed by the RME and e-mail can be sent, or a script can be executed.

While DFM can treat some traps, it is mainly based on SNMP and ICMP on election to build its events. Therefore, as long as SNMP and ICMP connection exists between your server and your devices, you should be set. You can configure notifications DFM under DFM > Notification Services. I recommend that when you set up your Notification Group, just check you the option buttons in events. Events contain specific details about a defect of the device. Alerts, contain a roll-up high level of several events. DFM notifications can be sent as e-mail, traps and syslogs.
