Claire on an old computer to give

I want to erase an old computer to give to a friend. But I want to keep Microsoft Office is installed on your old computer.

You must do a clean install of Windows/restore to factory state before giving the computer away and that will solve the problem of MS Office. Make sure you only give the friend (e) CD/recovery of Windows XP installation disks. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Clean install Thunderbird on old computer

Recently, I moved to a new computer and try to clean install Thunderbird on the old computer to another user. I read in this forum to remove the data file that contains all of the old information. I did, but now Thunderbird opens. I get a message telling me that there is no personal data (or words to that effect) to associate with the program.

I tried to download Thunderbird again, but it will not always be open. I would appreciate help with this, because the person I give the old computer is more eager to start with email on this subject.

    Thank you very much!

  • Could someone tell me the best way to transfer files and settings from an old computer to a newer version?

Hello everyone, once again I find myself going to the pro to know what you're probably going to think is an easy thing to do, but I have to swallow my pride and ask anyway. Before I ask my question, I need to let you know that I'm almost completely computer illiterate. I can manage to do somethings, but I have a feeling this is going to be difficult. I have an older Dell model, this is the Dimension 2350 series and I would like to transfer those things on that is also a Dell, but it's an Intel Pentium 4. . Really, I don't have as long as it's what files to transfer, but especially picutres of family or your holiday. What worries me is transfer the settings on my old computer to the newest one. I have a Windows XP CD drive that comes with a new computer. What help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!  Can you give me an idea what I have to do first with the old as in the steps I have to take.

    Question for you:

What is the operating system on both systems?  They are both Windows XP?  Is the older Windows XP and the newer Windows Vista?  Windows 7?  Something else?

I ask only because whatever you mentioned was a Windows XP CD that is supplied with the newest computer.  The truth - the newest computer is already up and working as you want - if not relevant.  The answer to the foregoing will help someone lead you correctly.

    Windows XP Service Pack 3

    Dell Dimension

Thank you all for your advice. For the record, my size is a 2400, and I have the original full version of XP with Service Pack 1a.

After trying to solve this problem with my knowledge limited and before all your very helpful responses, I decided to go on the road to uninstall as much as possible use Revo Uninstaller. Given that I've initially was looking for a method of time-saving security since I gave the computer a member of the family, to the point where I investigate buying a new CD player internal and all other solutions, it began to look like an option far less time. If my family member decides that always, he would like to make a fresh start but, we look at the above.

Thank you very much for your detailed responses. I much appreciate and will refer to them if needed in the future. I'm sorry I'm not able to try them, but I was on a time crunch to get the old computer in working condition for the Member of my family and cost/time of what solutions were looking like became problematic.

    Thanks again!

No, it won't, it will transfer personal files and settings. You will have to reinstall your applications from the original installation files or install CDs and DVDs.

  • Cheapest way to get a valid license for my old computer?

I transferred my retail Windows 7 Home premium license to a new computer and I want to give the old computer to a friend who is a broke student and currently computerless. I need to give him a BONE to work with. I know that I need a new product key for this computer, but I was wondering what is the best way to get one on this subject. $99 for a new copy of Windows is a bit hard to swallow. MS offer discounts on licenses Win7 on existing facilities? What the route of upgrade of Windows 8? Do you get a new product key with a Win8 upgrade or should I just use your old license?

    Thank you.

Microsoft doesn't sell even Windows 7 more.

The version of Windows 7 Home Premium OEM $ 99 is the cheapest, you're going to get. In fact, since a student, it would be wise to install Windows 7 Professional, which is $ 139.

Or, if the computer is up to it, go for Windows 8, which is also the same price as OEM of Windows 7 versions.

Since there is no previous version of Windows on it, you wouldn't be able to use any version upgrade of any update of Windows, not even Windows 8.

Microsoft offers discounts on Windows with the exception of the Windows 8 Pro upgrade and even that will be completed in January.

  • Buy new computer Windows 7 Professional and have questions about other files, and the removals of document on the old computer

    Hi all!

I need help.    I just bought a new computer that has Windows 7 on it.     This old computer is 7 years old

and last year I had put win 7 professional about it.     I'm trying to delete files on it.    How can I do this correctly.

What I need to remove the Windows 7 Professional out of it since I bought it and have the license and the disc.    Or, do

to keep the disc and just remove it from this computer.     What happens if someone else wants the computer I leave it on and

Give them the disc.   How can I handle this?     I am new to this?    Someone just set up my new computer and I want to

to make sure that I have all my passwords and other things out of that right.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME SOON!    A.S.A.P.!    Cause I need to work for the new space.

    Thank you.    Sharon

If you delete all partitions found (when booting from the cd of win) it will only destroy what is on the hard drive of the PC (all data can be saved), he won't do anything to victory dvd

If your new PC shipped with win7 preinstalled you need not really your origonal dvd win7. -You can sell or keep

If you do not want to give the old PC, then simply remove the hard drive (how can be found on google) and destroy the hard drive with a heavy hammer

(A seven year old PC is practically worthless)

I am a student at Sheridan College and received a product key to install Creative Cloud free. Creative cloud is already installed on an old computer that broke down; There is no way I can disconnect or uninstall creative cloud on the old computer. So I bought a new computer, but when you try to use the product key to activate one of the Cloud Creative applications, Creative Cloud tells me that the key has already been used. I don't know if there's a way to disconnect from creative cloud on the old computer. I don't know if I just e-mailed my product key Adobe, they can just activate creative cloud to me. Tell me if it would be useful to give here my product key. I use Windows 10. Thank you for your help.
