client DHCP issues with 4400 WLC

The ACS authentication works very well.

Clients cannot obtain an IP address from the DHCP server.

DHCP server is configured on a dynamic interface but is on a different subnet located in a branch office. The DHCP scope is running on a switch 4500 in the branch.

It is preferable to have DHCP works on internal WLC or near the WLC, rather than DHCP server at the remote location?

TIA

Generally, you don't want to have a dhcp server on a remote site, but it should also work as wired users are able to get an IP address from the remote dhcp server. Preferred, as I have said, is to have a local dhcp server, but if this does not work for you, then by configuring the wlc to bbe a dhcp server is not a bad thought either. Some, like to have more control over the dhcp.

  • Network/DNS/DHCP issues with testlab - virtual network Editor is killing me!

Hey all - a little new with workstation and have been messing around trying to get this to work for so long, I want to just set up my lab already but can't find the catch here.

So, here is what I tried to do:

Have a hand of Windows Server 2008 R2 (Controller/DHCP/DNS/Active Directory domain / IIS) addresses/leases DHCP of an internal network (which means, I want some Windows 7 Ultimate customers to assign IPs to the DC and NOT of VMWare offers integrated DHCP). I want clients to be able to use only one NIC (preferably) and both authenticate to AD and connect to the Internet (so I think I'll pass on DNS to resolve external domains?). I'm having a pretty hard time trying to understand what...

My physical network is an active router Linksys with DHCP, so them to assign an IP address to the PC that I'm looking for this laboratory-perhaps it is a problem as well and must also be configured or have my VMNet reflecting?

I tried to use NAT, a bridge connection, etc... and even then, when I got my DC with an active internet connection, how would I configure my clients (Win7 devices) to join the network even on my domain controller is? I tried some configurations in these forums as well, but none seems to for what I'm trying (which seems very simple!). Can anyone offer some advice? I am not opposed to the fresh start. Thanks for taking a peek.

Here is an example of configuration when all the virtual machines are configured for NAT.

    Virtual network Editor:

    DHCP disabled for NAT

For an example, I assume that the NAT subnet in 192.168. 100. x. You can change this if you wish.

    DC:

    IP address: 192.168.100.10

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.100.2

    DNS server: 127.0.0.1

    Configuration of the DHCP server:

    Range: 192.168.100.150... 200

    Subnet: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.100.2

    DNS server: 192.168.100.10

    The DNS server configuration:

DNS forwarding to: 192.168.100.2 (for other than the own domain URLS)

Other servers or systems with static IP settings:

    IP address: 192.168.100.11... 149

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

    Gateway: 192.168.100.2

    DNS server: 192.168.100.10

    Customer:

Networking will be set to automatic.

In this way, the domain controller will be the only DHCP and DNS server, but each virtual computer will be able to access directly to the Internet. And because the domain controller is the primary DNS, your ad cannot function properly.

  • General questions about Cluster 4400 WLC

I have inherited some 4402 wireless LAN controllers and I am in charge of making their ship-shape. So I have a few general knowledge wireless, I have not worked with before wireless controllers and have a few issues with that I was wondering if someone could help me:

    (1) how can I check that the primary and secondary controllers are configured for failover without actually performing a test? Both have AP failback enabled, but I don't know what else to check.

    (2) they are running code 3.2.116.21. If I want with 3.2 or plan to move up to 4.X?

Thanks to a bouquet. I'm slowly working my way through the docs and the answers to them would of course speed up things.

    Hi Johnny,.

I hope things are well with you! The steps required to set up relief AP are detailed in the attached doc. I would always try to provide a Maintenance window to test this point, rather than not knowing for sure :)

    Now, for your second question, it is likely that you will want to upgrade the WLC to a version more recent code. They have passed through 4.0.x, 4.1.x and newer 4.2.x. 3.2 is a fair way behind. Take a look at the WLC Release Notes;

  • With the help of new access points with old WLC 4100; LWAPP layer 2 switching 3-tier

    Hi all

We currently use two solutions Wiresless LAN - a 10 AP1230 access points-based autonomous (5 years) and a solution based on a Cisco WLC 4100 (4112, running 3.2) with 12 AP1010 LWAPP access points.

First thing, we are considering to replace the stand-alone solution with the WLC one. However, I'm not sure if we can use the new access points such as the LAP1041N or the LAP1252G with our current 4100 WLC. Access reported data sheets 'Cisco Unified Wireless Network Software Release 7.0 or later version' 'software '. Does this mean that these access points can only be used with controllers running 7.0 or later?

If we are unable to use the new access points with our current WLC and need to buy a new controller: can we use access points AP1010 current with a new WLC as the Cisco 4402?

Second thing, it is that we want to expand the networks configured on the WLC 4100 to another site that is connected via VPN wireless. Wireless Setup guide indicates that the LWAPP mode can be changed from Layer 2 to 3 layers so that the access points can be configured with an IP address, which allows you to place access points basically anywhere as long as IP connectivity exists between the AP and the WLC.

Y does it as described in a document with the change of mode LWAPP layer 2 to 3 layers? Or ist just the following steps (if I understand correctly):

-Change the Mode of Transport LWAPP on the controller of layer 2 to 3 layers

-Creation of a PA-manager interface with an IP address in the same subnet as the management interface (tried that, without changing LWAPP mode transport first and not was not possible - error)

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Is it really just as simple as that? All information about it is very appreciated!

/ edit: I would also like to know if the 1260 series access point are backward compatible with 802. 11B. Whereas it is stated in 1040 and 1250 for example series data sheets, it is not particularly mentioned in 1260 data sheet.

    Thank you

    Michael

Well, let's start with the simple question/answer

    With regard to different sites:

-Configure option DHCP 43 with the IP address of the WLC or DNS with CISCO-LWAPP - CONTROLLER.localdomain

-Make sure that the interface ap - manager can reach points on the different site

Yes, it's as simple as that.

As for other issues, looks like you would be better served with a forklift upgrade.  New controllers and new AP.

Now, the AP 1230/1240/1250. all work on the 4.2, 1140 code starts with 5.2 and 1040/3500/1260 are 7.0

The AP 1000 series is not supported after 4.2 code.

Refer to here for the complete list of the AP and taken codes supported:

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn7.0.html#wp610751

From what I see, the 4100 is not supported after the train of 3.2.

So, it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish with the upgrade.  If you are looking for a 80.211n support, you really want to be 5.2 or better, we had some problems with MRR + 40 Mhz channels, 4.2, 5 GHz band only.

  • Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server.

Client DHCP is unable to get a valid IP address from the DHCP server. I have a home edition of Windows XP attempts to connect to my router wirelessly with wireless or wired connection but I get an error in Event Viewer with the discription DHCP 1007 error message. From what I researched, I discovered that the DHCP service depends on the AFD, TCP/IP and NetBT services. All these services are correctly place and worked very well (even the DHCP service is running without error) but every time I try to release/renew my IP address I receive than DHCP warning in the case where the viewer and I just cannot get a valid IP address of the server (router) I also have one of these verizon wireless G3 usb adapters and it works fine. I also have a good ping back when I try to do a ping localhost (for the closure) I also tried the preinstallation of uninstalled drivers from the adapter/s and nothing works. The only entrees in the registry for DHCP error are also AFD, NetBT and TCP/IP nothing else there, also all the files in the/system32/drivers afd.sys netbt.sys and tcpip.sys in addition to solve the problem, I'll mention that I installed and reinstalled Northon earlier, I do not remember if the problem appears before or after that. I receive also any error or warning in the security log or at least I don't know how to read: P

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for the information.

I hope you know that it is risky to connect the laptop to the Internet with no firewall and no antivirus... If this laptop is already connected to the Internet in this State, he is perhaps already infected.

You said you know the router works because the other computers can connect successfully to it.  You should check the configuration of the router to make sure that it is not configured to limit the number of IP address it supplies, and (b) it is not configured to filter users by MAC address.

When this laptop is connected by Ethernet, even if he gets the IP address of 169.254.x.y, can you ping the router?  Find the IP address of the router on any computer connected to it by running the ipconfig command in a command prompt window.  The "default gateway" is the IP address of the router.  Run the ping command in the command prompt window as well.

If the ping is successful, it is possible that you might be able to use an IP address in the correct range for an Ethernet cable (but I doubt that it works for the wireless).

  • The WLAN with anchor WLC - problems of roaming

    Hello

my wireless network is 3 WLC 4402 who manage 40 APs.

I have a fourth WLC that I installed it on my DMZ for comments vlan anchorage authentication and web.

Everiting works fine but I have a problem:

If my client is associated with a gateway and then I authenticate I'm willing to do traffic. As soon as my client passes to a managed by a different WLC access point, I need to authenticate again. If I wander to the first access point, I need to authenticate again.

In my WLAN guest, I use WEB authentication provided by the web server internal to the WLC anchor.

    Thnks everyone

Here are my conclusions, I have attached. This should solve your problem. First thing to do is change the VIP of wlc1, wlc2 and wlc3 to 1.1.1.1, then restart of the wlc. You can keep the VIP wlcanchor as 1.1.1.4. Look at the other suggestions I posted.

    It would be appreciated.

    Hello

    answer your questions:

1, but I could see a single file over in the cisco site, which is AIR-WLC4400-K9-4-2-205-0-ER.aes (file 4 MB approx.). I put in the root directory of the TFTP?

is it necessary to copy the mentioned so 4 MB file?

the 4 MB file (which has ER), is the file of the boot loader.

It is not necessary to apply it, but it is recommended that you also upgrade to this boot loader after the WLC image upgrade. (as mentioned in the release notes)

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/partner/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn42205D3MR4.html

.Aes ER files are independent of controller software files. You can run any controller software file with any file from ER.aes. However, to install the latest software startup file (4.2.205.0 ER.aes) ensures that changes made to the boot software in all files of the boot software ER.aes past and present are installed.

-Do not install the 4.2.205.0 software controller file and the startup file software at the same time ER.aes 4.2.205.0. Install a single file and restart the controller; install the other file, and then restart the controller.

2 as show images of starting backup as a 4.0.206.0, what will happen to this file, if I'm upgrading to 4.2.205

Is what is in the wlc as a backup image?

Yes, he'll stay there as backup image.if you want to change it, you must interrupt the boot on console (ESC) process, start the secondary image and do the upgrade again to the secondary image.

    3. are there additional things are needed during the upgrade from 4.2.176 to 4.2.205?

no extra steps, don't just make sure you use good TFTP as (TFTPD32)

Here are the release notes for 4.2.205 for your information...

  • Client-server applications with problems

    We use appvolumes 2.10

When install us it manually on the main image the applications work as expected. Indications on where we can make changes on the primary image for the appstacks works? Thank you

  • Should have issue with PE8 airbags!

PE7 was (at least for me) usable and stable.  He did what I wanted, and I don't remember the problems of stability.  That all ending with an 'upgrade' to PE8.  I can't seem to make it work for 2-5 minutes before it crashes.  It happens at different times and in various activities... just look at the screen.

I have a good video card NVIDIA (which very well seems to work with all the other products that I have), but I read the 'solution' pinned at the top of this forum, updated to version "beta" of the driver who is supposed to fix the random crash... However, my 195,81 verified drivers have had zero impact on the uniform PE8 crashing.  I was not able to complete a single project, as I've "improved" version 7.  My system is vista 32 bit with 4 GB of physical ram and a stocky core2quad processor.  It runs CAD, flight sims and other audio applications and video two well and probably... but not PE8.  The only other app with what he has had problems is PSE8... but the minor issues with PSE8 pale in comparison with the total absence of ergonomics in PE8.

I see so many similar reviews and comments from the forum... I wish, oh how I wish I had waited for a decision on the upgrade!

So the question is: given this release has been horrible, there will be a free and fixed version 8?  .. .or will be Adobe attempt to make his customers wait (and pay) version 9?  I can say that if they think that this is the case, Adobe loses me as a client PSE & PE... and all hope it will be for the review of their substitutes like Lightroom, Photoshop or Premiere (non-elements).  They can be produced purposes... but if the prospect of the company is such with the entry-level products, it won't take long for a company to feel too big for her panties with the highest range as well.

Has no QA whatever happen with PSE8 or PE8?

I can also use ffdshow, but I turned off this one due to the poor performance in the Organizer.

I don't know how if button PrE, but FFDShow asked all sorts of headaches to the PrPro. A few users have been able to do anything when it was installed. To return to the PrPro 1.0 release (first 7), Adobe changed the engine to display live Show. I don't know at what time in pre development even could happen - don't know my history of pre, as I know PrPro.

For users of PrPro, the complete withdrawal of FFDShow got things back to normal. It seems a little difficult to get rid of, however.

As to why your PrE earlier will work fine with the same images, but PrE 8 is having issues, I can't help, as I don't know what's under the hood with 8 PrE. Perhaps a new feature that Smurf things with the MS MJPEG CODEC, or maybe the conflict is elsewhere.

I think that the Mogran, at least, has a trial, but he had the MainConcept MJPEG for so long, I forget now.

I would look at disabling FFDShow, as a test. Make a System Restore Point before the withdrawal, in the case that has zero to do with anything whatsoever, and you want to roll back to have. Then remove and test. I would also like to do a System Restore Point it too, just in case.

    Good luck

Before the summer I bought a Huawei P9 phone, I can easily see the photos on the phone - I can't just them on my mac.  When I connect via a USB cable, it refuses my permissions.

    Jim Hosking

You need the phone provider support - there is a problem with the way their phone works and how to use it and has nothing to do with the Photos or iPhoto - if pictures is consistent with standards of good Photos and iPhoto won't work with it

You may need special third party software for your phone load in Photos or iPhoto

  • iPod Touch 5 Gen - iOS 9.3.1 lightning connector issues - with accessories

Has anyone seen a problem using iOS 9.3.1 on an iPod Touch 5th generation with lightning connector devices?  Specifically, I use the iPod in a cradle of scanner which connects via the connector of the lightning, until iOS 9.3.1 the cradle was visible to the application, but once it has been updated the scanner loses communication to the iOS device and application.  IPod charge and connect to iTunes, no problem, but refuses to see the cradle, I have another iPod on an older version of iOS, which connects to the cradle even without problem.

To try to find, I've updated the iOS to 9.3.2 beta fault from the site of the developer, this problem has now fixed the issue with the cradle.  I can't that assume Apple broke the connection in iOS 9.3.1?

Sometimes an iOS update breaks compatibility with accessories. Since then, he has worked with next beta which seems to be the cause.

All yo can do is to continue using the beta until the version is rejected in the pubis.

Have reported the problem to Apple to ensure that the beta version is not yet revised to cause the same problem?

You have to break the data out of the cluster and to present them to the graph 3d to a separate bays for X, Y, Z and W where 'W' is your values measured at the locations described by X, Y, Z.
