coaxial cable of the adapter cable ethernet to the airport

where can I find a coaxial cable to the adapter cable ethernet to my Airport - have time warner line coming into the House but need to ethernet adapter to use the airport for router and modem

Unfortunately, a co - ax for Ethernet card will not help you.

The reason is that the Apple AirPort routers do not have a modem on board, you therefore need an external modem separated if you want the airport to be able to provide Internet access to clients connected.

Co - ax cable connects the modem. Then he use an Ethernet cable to connect the modem to the "O" WAN port on the router from the airport.

Check with Time Warner for recommended modems that are compatible with their service.

Hey guys, I'm new here and just try to get help with this insoluble problem that I started having with my Linksys WRT54GS and Verizon FiOS last week.

To simplify my story complete and real question here, I put it all points to try to make it simpler to understand:

-In the fall of 2007, I switch from Comcast to Verizon FiOS after getting screwed on waiting for two weeks and never get a new router, that one was fried in a storm

-Little brother spills the first Actiontec router and it breaks

Actiontec wireless - replacement of the router is non-existent (MI42WR)

-After trying fill the Linksys for the Actiontec, it turns out to be a pain much more than a real solution to the lack of wireless

-Past of the coaxial cable to the full ethernet cat5 last year to use Linksys WRT54GS
-Fortunately directly connected to ONTARIO to Linksys WRT54GS via ethernet cat5 for a year while the wireless is perfect for other computers

    (last week)

-Off router Linksys for a night the week last to give him a night's rest
N ' unable to connect to Verizon with WRT54GS old or new router WRT54GL (which I'm now back)

-HAVE ethernet light outside still has a green light indicating that it is working
-Do not fill the Actiontec and Linksys again
-I don't want to go back to the use of the Actiontec for what anyone, but stuck with it for now
-A reset the router, computer connection and DHCP has published many times, but nothing helps

-A updated my WRT54GS firmware before you type this and still nothing

-No connection to any Linksys router, but the works of Actiontec

I can't think of a solution except maybe try one of another company, as D-Link... (sad face) I'm already back the new router Monday, since I don't believe that my WRT54GS is broken even if it is not connected. If I don't think that maybe Verizon has done something that is not allowing one of my Linksys routers to connect, because fortunately, they started to charge me an extra $10-12 on FiOS bill without notice. Although at this stage, I have a hard time believing that even switch to another router company and use their products will do everything for me...

Right now, I am suffering with this router Verizon terrible stock and my parents and aunt are complained about these last two weeks. I hope that someone here knows what may be the real problem that can sound with little assistance.

Ah, found the solution work for a guy who had exactly the same problem as me, but with a D-Link router.

"The best solution is to go to the ethernet connections and click Cancel, the green light on the actiontec to go yellow, unplug it in this State." Disconnect the battery power and the BBU. Put the new router in place, reconnect battery and BBU, then taken power for the new router.

Just releasing and switching router should work but if it is not these steps work. »

Thank you for at least trying to help me to abandoned.

  • DeskJet 6940 connected via ethernet to the airport cable, do not print

    Hello

I used to run my HP Deskjet 6940 printer using a USB connection. I recently installed an Apple Airport Extreme so I can print wireless. If necessary, the printer is connected to the airport by using an ethernet cable and turned on the light green network. On the advice of a HP rep by phone, I uninstalled all old HP software and reinstalled HP software downloaded from the HP website.

When I try to add the printer to my 'system preferences', it opens a panel that contains the following options:

Protocol: Automatically selects "line printer daemon - LPD.

Address: Empty but allows me to type in the IP address assigned

    Print using: no idea.

More than two things: when I open the HP Device Manager and select "set up a network, information network configuration printer seems in good condition but the Manager does not allow me to 'apply'.  Not sure if this is important but no the printer utilities appear in my folder utlities since the new software download. Thank you.

Looks like you are using a Mac.

First of all, the driver for the Deskjet 6940 is built into Mac OS.  You really didn't need to download additional www.hp.com (sorry for the bad advice) stuff.

Next, we'll check that the printer is on the network.  In Safari, select bookmarks, display all bookmarks.  Select Hello in the left pane, and then check the Deskjet 6940 appears on the list of devices on your network.

Then, follow these instructions to reset the print Mac subsystem: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1341

Now add the printer to the Print & Fax under System Preferences applet by pressing the [+] button.  The Deskjet 6940 should be among the kind Hello from printers.  Select it and press Add.

I think that should do it.

  • Ethernet to the airport also on?

I have my Mac connected directly to our home Airport Extreme via an ethernet cable. That same Airport Extreme acts as our main wifi router. Until recently, I didn't cause to turn on the wifi of the handiest airport on my Mac, but I have to if I want to use the new Sierra "unlock with Apple Watch" and copy and paste between the characteristics of devices, that which I want to be able to use.

My question is, is my default Mac using the connection of the cable as my internet source or have two internet connections active will complicate things?  Is there a way to prevent the Mac to use the wifi for the internet, but still have it on for the other features it offers?

    Thank you.

Nevermind, I found the answer outside this area communities:

    http://www.Macworld.com/article/3039842/Macs/can-you-use-Wi-Fi-and-Ethernet-on-a - mac-to-the-same-SystemRoot\Cluster\Reports\Validation

You can dictate the order of preference for which network source is used in settings > network on your Mac. By moving "Ethernet" upward, your Mac always uses the Ethernet Wifi or any other sources listed below, as long as the Ethernet is an active connection. If something happen with your Ethernet connection (cable comes off, maybe) your default settings for Mac to the next source in the list that has an active connection.

Apparently there is nothing wrong with having active ethernet and wifi connections at the same time.

  • Why is my slower than wifi ethernet download speed when using the airport extreme?

    Hi all

This is my first post here, so please bear with me. I currently own stunted 2011 Macbook Pro 13 inch and an extreme A1521 from the airport. My ISP has promised 50Mbps downloading and sending 10 Mbps. When I connect my MPro via ethernet/wi-fi to my modem I get as promised. When I connect my MPro via wi - fi to the extreme I get 48Mbps download download 9Mbps and it's ok. However, when I connect my MPro via ethernet to extreme I get 8-9Mbps download and 9Mbps. Anyone know how to fix this?

If you check the 'fine print', your ISP has promised "up to" 50 Mbit/s and 'up to' 10Mbps.  The ISP might provide more than that during periods of slow activity, like the days of the week during the day, but much less during evenings when there are many more users on the Internet.

When I connect my MPro via ethernet/wi-fi to my modem I get as promised

I assume that you meant to check the Ethernet connection, you disable WiFi on Mac when you do this. And unplug the Ethernet cable when you check the speed of the WiFi, correct?

If so, this tells you that the Ethernet port to both the modem and the Mac work properly, and WiFi work correctly as well.

When I connect my MPro via wi - fi to the extreme I get 48Mbps download download 9Mbps and it's ok.

If this tells you that the Ethernet connection between the modem and the AirPort Extreme works correctly, and wireless works fine on the AirPort Extreme.

However, when I connect my MPro via ethernet to extreme I get 8-9Mbps download and 9Mbps.

Well, you know that the Ethernet connection between the modem and AirPort Extreme works because you can register 48 Mbps Wireless.

Thus, the possibilities are narrowed to two elements at this stage:

    (1) the Ethernet cable is defective or making intermittent contact. Try another Ethernet cable, to ensure.

    (2) If you have turned off AirPort Extreme and rebooted several times, and you know that the cable between the Mac and AirPort Extreme works properly, then you have reduced the question down to the Ethernet on the AirPort Extreme, which is probably defective switch.

If you have not already done so, try other ports Ethernet on the AirPort Extreme.

As a last resort, perform a reset material on AirPort Extreme and put up again. To perform the Hard Reset... power on AirPort Extreme for a few minutes, then hold it pushed in the reset button on the back of the unit (near the AC power plug) for 7-8 seconds and release. Allow a minute for the AirPort Extreme restart orange light flashing slow.

I once went through two consecutive airport extremes with the same question about 8 months ago, so it can happen.

If you're still having problems, then it is time to take the AirPort Extreme of Apple Store... If you have one near you... or contact the Apple Support directly by clicking on 'Contact the Support' in the upper right area of this web page.

    Good luck!

  • Can I use the lan Ethernet port on the airport express to the release of music?

Can I use the Ethernet connections on airport express at the exit of music over wifi to a set of speakers? I would use an Ethernet connector at one end a DIN 5 pin to a pair of speakers beolab 2500/2300. I don't want to use the PIN audio output on the Airport express, as it is analog. Possible music out through one of the Ethernet connections at the back of the Airport express? Thank you

Can I use the Ethernet connections on airport express at the exit of music over wifi to a set of speakers?

    Sorry, but no.

I don't want to use the PIN audio output on the Airport express, as it is analog

Perhaps you weren't aware that audio port on the AirPort Express audio book Terminal analog or digital, according to the type of connector used. See this link on the AirPort Express specifications to confirm... http://www.Apple.com/Airport-Express/specs/

In other words, for the Express deliver audio analog, connect a standard stereo mini plug with connectors appropriate to the other end.  To ensure that the Express deliver audio digital, plug a mini Toslink cable to the audio port on Terminal AirPort Express.  An example is in this link... • The airport will connect to the brother 2270DW via USB but not ethernet

Apple replaced my Airport Extreme after only 9 months and it has been quite a challenge to get back to square one.

On the older airport, I connected to my printer wireless Brother via an Ethernet port on the router, but now it does not detect the printer. I changed the cables without result. I have a problem with the port or printer?

He does not see my printer via ethernet. What gives?

  • Extend my cable modem network via Airport express and Time Capsule

I am trying to expand my home network through my Airport express AND a Time Capsule. Installation of extension through the airport was easy and successful. I then tried to expand further with Time Capsule, but it gives me the opportunity to launch a new network. What do different to fix my Tim Capsule to my global network?

I then tried to expand further with Time Capsule

Unfortunately, it is not possible to do what you want... given that the function of "extend a wireless network" Apple will not accept to be extended once the network is not two.

The other question that you probably, it is that unless your 'main' router is also another router from Apple, the Express is not really 'extension' of the network at all, despite what you think.  More likely, the Express is "membership" in the network. It can be used to connect a USB printer remote in this environment or for use with AirPlay... but the Express doesn't "spread" or "repeat" when he joined the network.

If you want to check if the Express is really extend the network, and you have a Mac laptop... after back and provide you with a few steps.

But even if the Express could be the extension of the network... Time Capsule will have to connect to the network using a permanent, wired cables Ethernet... ideally to your main router, but it might work OK if you connect to the Express.

  • Optimal, set up for the airport and the power network line?

Hoping to any network gurus can advise on the optimal configuration for my network.  Current configuration is as follows.  1 Zyxel DSL modem configured to act as the router, PPPoE (not the bridge mode) mode, which is the default value.  2. Airport Time Capsule (ATC) connected to the modem via an ethernet cable plugged into the WAN ATC port.  ATC configured in Bridge mode.  Adapter network line connected to the LAN of the ATC port.  2nd line network adapter is connected to the opposite end of the House where the Time Capsule wireless signal is weak to non-existent.  Airport Express (AE) plugged into 2nd network adapter line.  I have a lot of devices (computers, printers, cell phones, DVR, etc.) which must connect wirelessly to the network.  Here are my questions:

    1. is it better to act as the router, rather than on the bridge, as I have to reconfigure the modem in Bridge mode and the most convenient way to connect using PPPoE Airport Airport?  Or is it not important?

    2. my hope is that by using the network adapters and the AE in the part of my house with the worst WiFi signal, I can push the range of my network and all devices to give a good signal.  My hope is that the devices will be connected to any signal is stronger.  At present, ATC and EI do not have the same network name (or password).  It is better for them to broadcast 2 differently named networks, or both would be they networks of broadcast with the same name and password.  Or is it not important?  Is how important it that the ATC is able 802.11ac, EI is just 802.11n?  For reasons not clear to me, even though I have several 802.11ac devices (MacBook Pro and Nexus5x), they are on the 2.4 ghz band (I even if ca is the 5 ghz).  Don't know if something is set up wrong on my ATC.

All the equipment is running the latest version of the software (OS X, iOS, Android, etc.).

    Thanks for any advice.

    1. is it better to act as the router, rather than on the bridge, as I have to reconfigure the modem in Bridge mode and the most convenient way to connect using PPPoE Airport Airport?  Or is it not important?

Doesn't matter, unless there is a special feature like the network option of comments on the airport... that would require that the airport be configured as router.  Airports are not known for their reliability, PPPoE, so it is best to have the modem or modem/router to provide the credentials of the PPPoE connection.

    2. my hope is that by using the network adapters and the AE in the part of my house with the worst WiFi signal, I can push the range of my network and all devices to give a good signal.  My hope is that the devices will be connected to any signal is stronger.

If the two access points use the same wireless network name and password, Mac will do a nice job of automatically move from one access point to another to pick up the best quality signal as they move home... but iPhones, iPads, and most of the PC will not.  If you name the two networks as well, so you will need to get used to temporarily disable WiFi on iPhone, iPad, etc. When you move from one region to the other. Then, when the device is in the new location, turn on the WiFi and the device usually pick the strongest signal from the nearest access point.

If you use names of separate network for access points, you need to manually switch networks on each device whenever the camera moves from one region to the other.

Is how important it that the ATC is able 802.11ac, EI is just 802.11n?

Well, you know that the Express is not "ac" capable, so any device "ac" close the Express will connect at low speed "n".  You will probably not notice a difference in respect if your Internet speed is less the Express features.  If you copy large files from one computer to another or backup on the network, then a device that connects to the Express is going to be slower than a device capable of "ac" that connects to the ATC.

For reasons not clear to me, even though I have several 802.11ac devices (MacBook Pro and Nexus5x), they are on the 2.4 ghz band (I even if ca is the 5 ghz)

Everything in the wireless is a compromise. In other words, to get something, you must give up another.  "ca" is used to that in the band 5 GHz, so if your devices are connect 2.4 GHz, they connect to a slower 2.4 GHz signal.

    Here is the compromise...

5 GHz signals have capacities of speed much higher than the 2.4 GHz signals... BUT... 5 GHz signals are significantly weaker than the 2.4 GHz signals. So you're really not going to get the benefit of 5 GHz, if your device "ac" is in the same room or it has line-of-sight with the router "ac".

If a device of "ac" is a room or two away from the router "ac"... the device will probably connect 2.4 GHz... because these signals are more powerful penetration of walls and other obstacles a lot better than 5 GHz can never hope.  It is also possible that the 2.4 GHz signal several rooms away the router will also be the fastest signal at this location, because the signal slows down more it moves the router.  5 GHz quickly signals really slow down.

  • Time Machine (on Mac) does not detect the airport Time Capsule

Originally posted on the page of the airport, but seems to be the better question for this group. Sorry for the double post

Looking for advice on how to get the Time Machine utility for access to my Time Capsule. I use an iMac in late 2012 with MAC OS 10.12 TimeCapsule is 2015 7.7.7 running latest firmware. Airport utility is the latest firmware 6.3.7.

When I run the application Time Machine, Time Capsule is not detected. I tried the two WiFi and with cables connected Ethernet (not tried USB yet) and my Time Capsule doesn't have a lightning bolt or firewire ports.

Open Airport utility & see the airport time capsule. I can see all connected devices, including the MAC, but no prompt activation Time Machine on the Time Capsule.

I recently used TM on this iMac with a G-Technology drive. It auto detects the time machine and executes a back up. But airport Time Capsule will not.

    Any suggestions?

Sierra has been problematic with the TC.

    1. make sure you don't have any charge virus protection software. In fact, I would say that disable all software 3rd part at the moment.

    2. make sure that you can actually write to disk of TC.

Attach the TC disc in the finder and copy a file on disk, you can delete it later... It's just to ensure that you have full write permission. If it does not for the most part, you won't be able to use Time Machine... If you can then try TM immediately...

Just to be clear, the TC is a network device. You have tested with ethernet and wireless... Ok.. They are only suitable methods. You cannot use USB. And clearly, TC has never had nor will never be ports Firewire or lightning.

    3. no chance that a reset complete TC. This will not delete the files on the hard drive, but you must make sure that the device is configured on the current computer.

    4. There are many positions in these days... read through them and do some research. Sierra is a bleeding edge new... So wait you to spend a lot of the precious liquid if you choose to be an early adopt.
