Compaq nx6110 no recovery disk

I have a Compaq NX6110, running Windows XP Pro

It runs very slowly and I would like to restore the laptop to factory settings.

I don't have the original recovery disks.

The laptop doesn't have a recovery partition.

There is no Recovery Manager software on the laptop to create a set of recovery disks.

Is it possible to download Recovery Manager, so that I can create a set of recovery disks.

You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately there is no download for XP anywhere.

You can try to call HP to the United Kingdom at this number and see what they say about the availability of recovery disks.

  • Buy recovery disks NOT working - Compaq sr2020nx

    SYSTEM SPECS:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c00749174

    ORIGINAL PROBLEM:

Hello.  I am working on a friends Compaq sr2020nx PC where the hard drive gone bad.  The disk was diagnosed as bad that he's not INTELLIGENT diagnostics in the BIOS.  It is not available when booting from a live Linux or as a slave drive in 2 different computers running one XP Pro Windows 7 other.  The hard drive is definitely bad.  He had not burned the recovery discs before the disk leave so I ordered the recovery disc from Compaq/HP for $15.

    8

The system came with XP MCE 2005 64-bit.  The disks that HP/Compaq let me order were the 64 Windows XP MCE SP2 recovery.  There are 3 DVD provided.  2 are recovery disks and 1 is complementary.

The new drive is a Western Digital SATA 320 GB.

    WHAT DOES NOT WORK NOW

With the new installed hard drive I boot from the #1 system recovery disk.  I get a message that says "no operating system installed or damaged partition.  Press 'R' to perform a full restore of the PC. »

    I press R.

I get a message on the bottom of the screen that reads, "Preparation of partition recovery - please wait." with a progress bar under.  That completes it.

Next message I get is 'start the PC recovery.'

The screen then goes to the word "COMPAQ" in big red letters on the screen with a small progress red bar that scrolls under it.  (Kind of like when XP starts when you have the "XP" logo and the Green scroll bar just below.)

COMPAQ screen remains for almost an hour before I get a blue error screen: 0x0000007B that reads something to the effect of Windows stopped to keep from harm the system runs chkdks etc...  According to HP/Compaq support pages

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/bph07144 I'm supposed to try to redo recovery.  Same thing is going to always ending in the Blue error screen.

    I TRIED THINGS

That's the problem.  I can't get the purchased recovery disks to restore the system.  I tried cleaning the DVD, using a different DVD player, but always the same.  I am able to install and run Linux on the hard drive and the computer works fine.  I can install Vista 64-bit on the hard drive and it works fine.

I checked the hard drive after you start the recovery process and it fails.  It seems that the recovery disc creates a FAT32 partition of 8.5 GB and copies on some files.  It leaves the rest of the disk unallocated as if there is never that far in the recovery process.  I tried recovery after having 1 partition and format.  The recovery disk when it is run again will create the 8.5 GB FAT32 partition and leave the rest of the disk unallocated.  I tried to create a single partition to the unallocated space, and then rallied but still not the COMPAQ screen for an hour and then fail.

At this point I don't know what else to do.  It seems to me there is something wrong with the image discs that Compaq has sent me.  Something to do with the drivers SATA is not on it?

    Any ideas?  Thank you.

I solved the problem by using a 200 GB IDE hard drive, I had in another computer.  The recovery disks worked fine with this drive.  There is nothing wrong with the Western Digital 320 GB disk but for some reason it wouldn't work with the recovery discs in the Compaq.  Maybe it's a SATA I vs SATA II issue or a driver problem with restore disks.

  • HP Compaq TC4200 recovery disk

    Hello

My HP Compaq TC1100 video card went bad so I bought a HP Compaq TC4200 tablet as a replacement, I bought on ebay and the seller loaded it with Windows XP Pro, I think he has a Windows XP Tablet COST (I have not yet received so I do not know the certificate of authenticity, but it's a Tablet so I'm figuring it's a tablet of COA) , My question is can I download a copy of a recovery disk HP TC4200 Tablet from a site like Torrant for my TC4200 XP legally?

    Thank you

    Andy

HP is quite liberal with you not sourcing recovery media from other sites, I don't think it's a question.

If you don't feel comfortable with another source, order recovery disks form HP

You can order materials from HP recovery on the link below, or call HP on the phone to order 1-800-474-6836

  • Cannot complete the reinstallation of Vista on Compaq laptop using the Compaq recovery disks. Tried to restore disk oem and new close to identical road. Errors: 0xc00000e9 and 0xc0000189 respectively

With no unusual occurrence that accompanies it, our laptop was able to start and would not initialize anything beyond a screen B & W style BACK and gave the first error (0xc0000e9) on this screen. After several unsuccessful reboots insert us the Compaq recovery disks and crossed the recovery (only full optional with such discs.) At the end of the transfer of recovery (from DVD on computer), the computer tried to restart and reported the same error message. We have seen anything past the transfer of files and B & W on the oem disk. I think the oem HD is bad. Web-surfing suggested the error was associated with a hardware failure and the DVD drive seems to work very well I bought a new HD almost identical to replace the oem version with. Both are Seagate Momentus 160 GB at 5400 RPM drives.

I re-inserted the recovery with the new installed hard drive disks and it loaded and seemed basically completely install Windows (computer is restored running several times and showed the Windows desktop with sequential programs etc. facilities.)

To restart the final success, I received an error message in the sense of "windows could not install: Please restart the installation process" and the 0xc000189 error code. I tried again and the result was identical, including the error message. In the process the emblazoned shortcut labeled sunflower administrator with "locked" below briefly appears before the above error appears above him. Navigation on the Web seems to suggest I've hit some kind of security problem that appears when an oem auto-installer is used. He was never a password of any kind on the laptop of our family, if there is one, it should be of Compaq.

It's an authentic (not stolen etc) oem new install of Windows (the laptop is only 18 months old) and I CD code on the computer but not the case in the installation me I asked for it. I don't know what you looking for installation.

I'm very confused and any help would be appreciated. Compaq is saying it's a matter of Windows of course.

    Thank you

  • Compaq Cq61. Windows 7. How to use 3 recovery disks?

When I bought, I made 3 as recommended HP recovery disks. Now, I want to use them, but can't see how. I tried to start with #1 load - no joy. I also tried the option Start button/F11 on UTube. That no longer works.

I read earlier Q and has but none seem good enough to me. Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you.

    Hello:

Have disk 1 in the PC and turn on the PC. From the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the F9 key to start the start time menu.  Select the DVD player.  Press the return key.

If the drive is good, you will see a message on your screen that says in essence... Attempt to boot from DVD... Press a key to boot from the DVD...

Press a key and the recovery disk should start working.

Then simply follow the instructions on the screen.

If that does not work, then you probably have a few bad discs and you will need to order a series of HP.

Or if you can read the product key of MS of W7 of 25 characters on the bottom of your PC, you can make your own regular installation of W7 media.

    Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • HP Compaq dc7900 Small F.: create a recovery disk

    Hello

I have a rebuilt computer that was installed originally windows Vista OEM. And then installed Windows 7 64 - bit has been renovated, but I can't find HP Recovery Disk Creator.

What should I do if will crash hard drive? Is possible download HP Recovery Disk?

    Thank you!

Not that you can do as Microsoft has pulled the plug on Windows 7 downloads.

Order HP recovery discs would only restore your Vista computer that was originally installed on it.

If you have a friend using the same exact version of Windows 7, you can use the installation disc, but make sure you only know your license key of Windows 7.

Or make a hard disk image to the top of your entire hard drive using a program like Macrium reflect free on an external hard drive.

  • copy of a recovery disk

    Hello

I just created a recovery for my compaq presario cq40 disc.  I burned on a DVD + R DL RW verbatim.  Recovery manager allow me to create another disc of recovery and said recovery disk that only one per cell is allowed.

is it possible to copy this disc? just to double back the reasons. It will work just the same as the original disk, I created with the Recovery Manager?

In my view, that it won't let you create another one due to the violation of the copy right or something of this nature.

I think you can copy them using image burning.

    http://download.CNET.com/ImgBurn/3000-2646_4-10847481.html

I just tried this program and it allowed me to copy my HP factory recovery disks, so there is a good chance that it will work for you.

Use the "create disc image files", it creates ISO files that you store on your disk hard that you can then burn to a DVD and create a copy of your recovery disks. I think that you may need to use double layer here.

You say burn Image where to put ISO files. I would like to create a new folder on the "C" drive and put them in there.

As for your other question, it should be an exact copy that will work. You can always try again later and stop at the place where it warns you that you are about to format your hard drive and it's the last chance to stop the recovery process.

See also this post here where Cheryl has left some very useful links about startup creating backup discs.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/operating-systems-and-software/creating-recovery-DVD-s-and-deleting-the-partition/m-p/245727

A second from the top. I wouldn't bother even burn a second series. I just have a few new using the Cheryls links. That way if you don't have a catastrophic failure, it will put the hard drive back as you want it and not image of original HP.

Please give a KUDOS to Cheryl and myself, if you found this post useful.  Thank you

I ran an experience and actually tried this and it works fine. When you use Image burn make sure you check the box to 'check' your DVD. I think it may already be checked by default however.

I had a spare hard drive to try it and I only allowed to go as far as the warning, then I cancelled the recovery process. Had let it go all the way I'm sure it would have worked.

  • Is it necessary to make recovery disks, even if there is a recovery partition pre installed

    Hello

I just bought laptop HP Compaq Presario CQ61-424sa, which came with Windows 7 pre-installed and also a partition on the hard disk for recovery. What I want to know is that there seems to be no need to make recovery disks, it would be a good idea to do for the future, just in case where the HD turned up toes. ?
