• Replacing hard drive in Compaq nx6325

  My hard drive is a failure. I have cloned the bad disc and need to find a replacement. Then comes drivesolutions.com and found some good deals on readers and a way to transfer the cloned image. Is this a good way to go? I read the hard disk Faq so I'll avoid Seagate and 7200 RPM drives.

  The prices look pretty decent. With respect to the transfer of the cloned image, what software did you use to clone? Most imaging software has a way to restore the image to a new hard drive.

  I use Macrium. It creates an Image of hard drive to a CD/DVD or USB external hard drive. It also allows you to create a bootable cd to start from & restore the image to a new hard drive.

• Compaq does not start without charger

  First of all:

  Product name: Compaq Presario CQ57 301SA

  Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

  My problem is that whenever I try to boot my laptop with only the battery as energy source, it does not start. The equipment starts and everything, but displays only a black screen. No flashing in the keyboard and the power led is displayed.

  If I plug in charger and connect it to the laptop, which is the only time that the contineus to laptop to display the startup process.

  At first I thought that there may be a problem in the battery, but it is completely charged (100%), said the HP battery check is OK, and whenever I remove the charger after startup and the logon Windows stage, the laptop does not turn off.

  Just for the background story: I recently sent my HP laptop for hardware failure and they replaced my motherboard. When I picked up, they turned on without the charger plugged and it starts up successfully. When I turned it on in my own home, this happens.

  Any thoughts?

  Did you get this resolved? I thought that since you had the motherboard replaced, and that's when your troubles started, you must call and speak with a representative.  Let them know what is happening and please let me know the results.

  I need to examine it to see if there is a problem with the port of loading, but a really dead battery can make it seem as if the charger is not working properly. If you can describe the problem maybe we can further troubleshoot the power adapter. If you are willing to accept a non-genuine "compatible" battery, they are very cheap.

• Charger Compaq 610 problem

  Hello, laptop Compaq 610 arrested son loads and then died when the battery ran low.  I read the adapter 18vdc, it seems OK.  I read that the plug that connects the charger to the system board, sometimes comes loose, then I opened the unit upwards, seems OK.  Any thoughts on what could be the problem?

  Also noticed that the cable between the charger and the laptop has 3 sons, but the connector seems to have 2 connections, which is the third wire for?  A schema is available anywhere?

  You have a short.

  I wonder if there could be a plug in the switch on the plug of the adapter and could have shorted contacts.

  I just got a Compaq mini 700, and after another 12 hours to charge, the battery is always flat.

  I revomed the battery installed en again, charging it for 2 hours and the result is the same, after disconnecting the power the mini does not DΘmarrer not on battery power at all (only with connected power).

  What's the problem, maybe a power/charging setting or a defective battery.

  PS next to this little problem that will be solved, it is a nice netbook with screen good and good keyboard.

  Because of the good relationship between the store and HP (pre-sales and after-sales) they would understand and there aren't necessarily what worries me.

• Nine computer Compaq 610 laptop charger does not work. Help, please!

  I went through 3 Chargers and charger port repair.  I am so confused about why not charging my phone.

  My first broken charger comes out of usury, but he had to stand on a corner charge.  I really want to continue to use it so I help him on an angle so he could load.  It ruined the port and the charger completely.

  The second charger, I bought was from Hong Kong on eBay, I know your probably thinking that wasn't a smart move, but he had the right replacement part number it is said on the first charger.  This charger was incredibly hot but he quieted worked for awhile.  Finally one day rubber melted and was all dealt with.  It melted if bad it was bad to get the magazine back in the port, but I got it.  Then after that use more rubber would melt it got warm every time and once the charger would not come out.  I pulled it out with a lot of force and then the final piece got a little separated from taking part.  Then the charger now must be held in hard and a slight tilt to make it work.

  I bought a new one with the right part number and it seems to be smaller than the three other broken.  I just plugged it in for the first time a few minutes ago and it started to load perfectly for about 20 seconds.  I was so releived, until I checked a second time and he stopped to load!  I don't know why, but it is not only in charge at all!  I plugged again many, he waved a little and tried to take the battery out and then try to turn on my laptop.  But no matter what I do it still will not charge.  Is the most funny thing is that the old one can still.

  I called HP to help and the talker suggested using "active chat" online with them.  He can't have my phone so I can't speak for them.  I tried FAQ and reading the forums of other people, but nothing helped.

  I want to change my HP Compaq nx6325 (SATA) HARD drive / XP SP3 (installed atapi.sys) of the original 100 GB to 500 GB/8SSD SATA Seagate real.

  What should I consider: Bios drive HARD assisted translation LBA or bit-shift mode? BIOS-DMA transfer ON or OFF?

  Other settings I need to meet?

  BIOS DMA affects only the transfer of data from the disk hard while in the BIOS so it does not matter, but you might as well allow BIOS DMA transfer. For the translation of HDD mode, I would fix assisted LBA. Since then, is a SATA HDD LBA should not apply but AMD model and I think that the SATA port may actually be an interfact EIDE disguised as SATA, as in the series of the type dv6000 with AMD processors. However, the specifications it's a SATA-150 interface. You should have absolutely no problems with the hybrid 500 gig drive. Are you going to stick with Windows XP?
