When I try to use the send to compressed (zipped) folder option when I right click on a file I get the following message
Unable to complete the operation.
Access is denied.
However I do have permisions complete on the file and I am the only user and administrator
Do you know when this problem started? Try a system restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem started. Here is the procedure: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/. Don't forget to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will need to re - install any software and updates that you have installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for updates.
If the system restore does not work, do a startup repair, boot from the disk Installation of Windows Vista genuine (or one that you can borrow from someone) or a recovery disc. Here is the procedure: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html. You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD. To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation. Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit. Put the CD in the drive and reboot. When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.
If you do not have a floppy disk, you can make a bootable recovery disk by using http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/windows-vista-recovery-disc-download/ with burning software like: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html and, of course, a blank CD.
If this does not work, try to start in safe mode (repeatedly hit F8 key so that the start and go in safe mode with networking). Then we will check some of your system files:
Go to start / all programs / accessories / command prompt and right click on command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.
Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run. It will scan and try to correct some of your system files. If all goes well it will complete with no corruption, he couldn't fix it (if there is such corrouption post here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files using http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228. This can sometimes solve the problem on its own.
While in the command prompt, type chkdsk /f /r and enter and let it run. It will scan and try to solve any corruption or bad sectors on your hard drive and remove especially as a cause.
If this does not work, you will need to do a repair/system upgrade using the Windows Vista Installation disc authentic (you own or that you can borrow from someone). Here is the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/88236-repair-install-vista.html as well as the upgrade from an earlier version of the Windows section of the following: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/918884. Although this will not affect your data, settings or programs, you should always back up your data before you start just be on the safe side.
I hope one of these procedures can solve your problem. If this isn't the case, after return and we will try something else. Return message anyway so we know how it turns out.

New folder option missing in vista when right click on
I have vista 32 bit and just replaced my hard drive and reinstalled my OS.
I was not able to create new folders. When I right click on the box, and then click New, "desktop folder" is not there. When I'm in windows Explorer and click on "organize", "new folder" is there, but when I click it, nothing happens.
I ran sfc/scannow, and he said that he managed to repair some files. I then rebooted and the problem is still there.
I also checked the registry to verify that the desktop of windows update component has been installed and matched: {D969A300-E7FF-11d0-A93B-00A0C90F2719}
I also have the administrator rights.
Don't know what else to try.
I saw another thread on this recommendation to copy and paste a few lines of registry, but this thread was several years old and don't know if I should try again. In addition, he was vague. He said "copy and paste the following lines and save the file with the .reg extension. Double-click to add the information to your registry.
Where can I stick him?

In the control panel missing folder options
After you have reinstalled Windows 7 x 64 system recovery, I went to control panel to set up single click. Initially the Folder Options icon was available and I put in place. Then I added a new user and noticed that the icon was not available in the new desktop Panel. It has also disappeared from the control panel of the original user. What is that all about, and how do I access Folder Options. I went to help and support from the Start button and entered in Folder Options - he sent me to a help page which included a link "Click here to access Folder Options." When I clicked on that link, there is no answer. Any suggestions?

One day after running a secure deletion of files program, I tried to create a new file on my desktop using the standard approach right of the mouse. However, the possibility of creating a new folder was missing. I still have the options to make a compressed folder paper towel, etc, but the option for a folder of the aircraft disappeared. I tried to create a folder in a subdirectory, and again, the opportunity to make a new folder has disappeared.
I tried to change the folder options in the menu folder in Explorer without result options. Can someone give me a solution so I can retrieve the new files option
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
