Computer dies every time I play a game.

My computer turns off whenever I try to play a game on the disc.

Definitely sounds like it could be a heat problem, I go to the games on discs, mean real good games as opposed to games by browser (which probably only show the behavior).  Not much can be done software wise on the subject however.

If you are overclocking all components, put back them in their stock values.  Clean the fan and vents, make sure they are not blocked, if you're using a desktop try to open it on the side of the case to see if it changes for how long it takes the computer to overheat.

    Hello

References to Vista also apply to Windows 7.

This is my generic how updates of appropriate driver:

This utility, it is easy see which versions are loaded:

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system.
For each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver,
Description, version, product name, company that created the driver and more.
    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/DriverView.html

For drivers, visit manufacturer of emergency system and of the manufacturer of the device that are the most common.
Control Panel - device - Graphics Manager - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on update
Driver (this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then right-click.
Uninstall - REBOOT it will refresh the driver stack.

Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party
with their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have.

Now in the system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), peripheral
Site of the manufacturer (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for
BIOS, Chipset and software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)

Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AD ADMIN - REBOOT after
    each installation.

Always check in the Device Manager - drivers tab to be sure the version you actually install
presents itself. This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (sound card drivers
in particular that) so to install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and repeat as
    necessary.

Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check
    manually by model.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

If you update the drivers manually, then it's a good idea to disable the facilities of driver under Windows

be older and cause problems. If updates offers a new driver and then HIDE it (right click on it)

    Windows 7

    RAM: 4 GB

When it reboots it just tells me that Windows has stopped unexpectedly.

First - check that you have the latest drivers for your motherboard chipset, your video device, your audio device and your network devices.  The first place to look for those who are on the Web site for your computer model & specific brand:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=4148392&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&lang=en&cc=us

When you select your operating system (Windows 7 64-bit) I see that HP ony supplies those who they provided with the system originally.  It's practically worthless.

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=4063&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=4148392#n177

Yes, where to from here?  I would say that you should at least install the latest video card driver - as more modern games can use those strongly...

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/Win7-WinVista-64bit-301.42-WHQL-driver.html

Download and install it.  If possible, you still have the original driver installed - this is more recent than most 30 months.

It's an AMD 785 G chipset card mother configuration, if their site is correct.  Looks like you can download and install latest drivers from AMD for this also:

    http://support.AMD.com/us/gpudownload/Windows/pages/raid_windows.aspx

    I'd say it's a good start.

What else?  It could very well be a heat problem.  Since it is a desktop - I suggest she get everything, buy some canned air for cleaning electronices and opening of this case and blow off any dust.  It can be quite the accumulation.  After blowing out, make sure that all the components that look like they 'plug' firmly/well connected.  Carefully.  Then, put the cover on and connect.

Make sure that there is enough air around the case - put a fan in front of him if you have to.

Help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Buddy,

    > The game is not graphics intensive and worked for about a month without any problems, has recently started to freeze
This could mean that the laptop is overheating
The reason for overheating is the dust that blocks the fan for laptop gets hotter

I recommend to clean using a jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. You can do it without disassembling the computer so it is very easy and takes only 5 minutes.
Just remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter before doing this.

For example I clean my laptop every 4 months because a lot of dust is coming so it s worth it.

  • Why my system freezes all the time I play a game?

    From: Xyptyk

    Hello group.

A friend has recently set up my new system, using Windows Vista Home Premium OEM 64 bit OS about two weeks ago. The pieces of others of interest are: core 2 duo E6850 processor; 4 GB OF RAM; ASUS Maximus Formula MB; NVIDIA GForce 8800GT video card and I use the onboard sound of the mother board.

My friend has built this system and installed the operating system. Now, the system will freeze for several different tasks. While downloading files from a driver update site, (NVIDIA) I clicked the menu start, the system froze. I play the games, LoTRO, Call of Duty, Crysis, Battlefield2 and 2142. Most of the time that these games freezes while I connect, at other times, they will just restart the system or very rarely they will crash back to the desktop.

The latest drivers and the windows have been installed and reinstalled and downloaded from their respective sites. Still, I'm having this problem.  I spent the last two days, through the forums looking for problems and similar responses here. A lot of information is out there, unfortunately no solution to my problem.

None of the antivirus programs are installed, the measures of security that come with Vista running. Oh, and Microsoft only supports their product chat, telephone or electronic mail unless I pay them.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thank you

    Thom.

    From: Andy [YaYa]

This is because you have installed the Windows OEM, the OEM versions are supported by people who sell OEM software. If you wanted the support of Microsoft, you bought the full retail version. Yes, you saved money on Vista, but now that you're on your own because the one that you bought the software from probably isn't a group of support for Windows Vista. Next time buy the COMMERCIAL version, unless the person you bought the

Software OEM has support, in which case that it would be installed the software for you and you charged as appropriate, in which case you would have been better off buying at RETAIL!

Another drawback of OEM is that if ever, you upgrade your PC hardware, Microsoft does not legally have to re - activate your software. OEM software is usually installed on a system, and the license applies only to the hardware/software.

A retail license you can uninstall and reinstall on a new computer, if you wish, and you are always covered. Given OS MS usually last5-10 years, you'll have to buy another copy of Vista in 2-3 years, where a touch of detail will last the lifetime of the product.

Not a lot of information to continue, but if 'your friend' knows anything on computer building (MCBS is, since he sells you an OEM operating system) while it should probably check all connections for you ensure that nothing is short-circuit (mobo touch the metal, not inserted correctly etc expansion cards)., run the PC Diagnostics on hardware , looks like there is some hardware fails on your system.

Something is not installed correctly, something is damaged, bad RAM, CPU, not getting don't not properly cooled, videocard overheating/dying, OS does not correctly installed, the drivers works do not correctly, etc..

At this point, your proposal is as good as mine. If I saw the system in action, I could probably find the problem. For you, I'll not charge $75 / hr.

    It is low cost.

You can also try Geek Squad, take your system at any Best Buy, if it boots into Windows, they will check your operating system on free, but Advanced Diagnostics and repair runs $199 plus the cost of any material that needs to be replaced.

Dude good luck. Next time buy retail hardware AND software (Microsoft does not want to blackmail, they run a business, there is a difference, but not much), OEM is intended for people who know what they are doing and can solve their own problems or don't mind paying get their problems fixed. In the long term, you lose more money than you save.

Sounds like a hardware problem, could be one of the following:

    (1) if it is a new PC, you must call/contact manufacturing because it should covered by a service contract.

    (2) if it is a PC that you upgraded to Windows 7, then you should download device drivers for Windows 7 on your PC manufacturer's support web site. Also equally important to the driver for your graphics card.

    ATI: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx

    NVIDIA: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us

    (3) if its an overheating problem, remove side trim and blow out the dust bunnies using a can of compressed air. This includes the heatsink and fan, power (evacuate nozzle with compressed air from the inside outwards) and dust from the motherboard and the case. Ensure that the card fan also. Note: Take the PC outside when you do!

I installed several games using Installshield.  Why some need the CD in the drive, while others do not?  On my old computer (~ 2002) running Windows XP, I don't have to insert the CD.  I do somehting wrong in the configuration and installation?  Games that acquires a CD for example - Atari Backyard Baseball, Microsoft Zoo Tycoon, EA games Harry Potter.  However Encore Hoyle card Games, Quicken, Adobe Photoshop Elements run fine just shortened clickingthe all.  I don't think I should have to insert the CD everytime I want to start the game and it should work the same as XP.  What I've done wrong?

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers site!

Some games require the CD to play because it is the requirement by the manufacturer and not Windows or operating systems that run them. The manufacturer of the respective game must be able to better answer this question.

    Hi Aman,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

There could be several reasons for this cause and we can try the following methods and check the status.

Method 1: Please refer to the article below and try the suggestions in it.

The problems of the game performance

Method 2: Put the computer in a clean boot state and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. You must follow the steps in the article mentioned below to perform a clean boot.

How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Note: see 'How do I reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting' to reset the computer starts normally after troubleshooting.

Method 3: Update the graphics driver

Step 1: Update the graphics driver from Device Manager

Press Windows key + R, type devmgmt.msc and click OK

    Expand the graphics card

Right-click on the graphics card, and then click Update driver software

Step 2: Look for the updates pending regarding the display driver and install

Type Windows Update in the search to Start and click on it

    Click find updates

Find updates related to the display/graphic driver and if there is, install it.

    Restart computer if/when prompted

Step 3: Visit the computer manufacturer's support Web site and install the latest driver of screen for Windows 7 for the same model of the computer and check.

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Computer crashes every time I try to install a windows recommended an update, (KB972813) language packs

Just installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit version. I have already installed all the updates without problem, but when I try to install one of the recommended update language packs my computer hangs during the update "facility" progress bar gets about 90% full. I never get an error screen, the computer just hangs, even the mouse becomes unresponsive. I waited for hours in the hope, it was just temporary, but I ended up having to reset the computer. He told me he could not update and restores the changes when it starts. This happens whenever I try to install a language pack.

    Hello

I suggest that you follow the steps below and check if the problem persists.

    Step 1:

    a. click on Start

    b. open the Control Panel from the menu display by (up/right) select one of the views of the icon .

    c. click Troubleshooting. On the bottom of the screen, under system and security , select fix problems with the Windows Update troubleshooting tool . Follow the instructions.

You can also check the information in the following article.

    Problems with installing updates
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/troubleshoot-problems-with-installing-updates

    Step 2:

If that does not solve the problem, start your computer in a clean boot State and install the update to KB972813 . There could be a software program of third party in conflict with the update. Clean boot helps eliminate conflicts of third party software.

Note: Follow step 7 to restart your computer after you install the update in a clean boot state as usual.

Given that YouTube videos are displayed using Adobe Flash Player, probably a good place to start is to uninstall Flash Player, and then download and install the current version.

Start by control panel > add or remove programs.  Remove the entries from the 'Active X' and the 'Plugin' related to Adobe Flash Player (Active X for Internet Explorer and the "Plugin" for Firefox and other browsers, such as Google Chrome, you can have one or two of them installed).

Then use these directions: uninstall Adobe Flash Player: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html?promoid=DTEGO

Now to install the current version: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/191/tn_19166.html#main_ManualInstaller if you use several browsers (IE and Firefox), you will need to install the ActiveX and Plugin.
