  • 3200 Maxtor disk external drive (installed) does not systematically start upward. I get the message "code 10". How can I fix it?

    I did troubleshoot directions, uninstalled and reinstalled.  Also disconnected and re-connected.  Sometimes it works, but not always.

    It is a new problem.

    According to this thread support, the drive doesn't have enough power to start, and sometimes the player not spin up. It seems that, over time, the power supply provided by maxtor, when you bought to deteriorate and no longer provide enough power to the drive. When the player does not have enough power to the adapter, it can try to draw power from the USB. When the player draws too much error, windows it disconnects and gives you the error code. try to find another 12v adapter that matches.

  • My computer does not load past the Bios Dell screen

    Vista 32 bit Home Premium on Vostro 200
    Hey, my name is Christian and this is my problem:

    It all started last night when I (stupidly) decided I should change my screen windows open, you know, black screen, where the green bar would float through from left to right while the computer responsible. I decided to change to a sort of landscape of Lake, but this is not the point.
    Before that, I chose at the next restart, the registry would be defragged and there would be controls memory.
    I am so down and restart the computer.
    Computer turns on and I the landscape to the instead, loading screen unless it's just a picture, so there is not move bar telling me whether or not the computer was loading.
    And the screen just wouldn't change. I assumed that defragments the registry and memory check took place, but I was rather paranoid about whether or not something is going on I turned manually the computer off hold the button down.
    I turned it back again and he went to the same - screen landscape and would not pass as usual. Paranoia took ahold of me and I turned it off once again. I did it a couple of times (and I apologize) until a system repair came automatically.
    I thought it was my way out of this problem, but it didn't really fix anything, and the screen landscape had changed now in a black screen which seems to have a background image screen to vista aurora discoloration in the Center.
    And it's right now. It does not seem to go beyond that and I think now that it was all due to the change in the loading screens.

    I even left on overnight assuming the scans took place and it would be frozen until the tests were performed.
    Nothing has changed.

    I tried the obvious; safe mode does not work exactly. I click on it and all I get is the names of the drivers being loaded then a very slow black line through every driver leading one by one.

    Unfortunately, I deleted the backups of my restore system checks an hour before this happened and I did a lot of memory by pressing F8 and choose the option.

    I'd even do a factory reset as long as I've had all my files and drivers on a hard drive.

    I don't know what to do, I am completely distraught. Any advice would be helpful and thanks in advance!
    (a factory reset would be VERY VERY last resort)

  • HP pavilion g6: computer does not during start up

    HIII,

    After I install the updates (from Control Panel - Action Center) when I restart the computer, it says: work on the updates.

    After 10-15 minutes when this is done it again by flashing "HP" on the screen (start-up). And then it gets stuck.

    I left it for more than 3 hours, and again, it is to the State.

    Hi @AA7,

    Thank you for your query.

    A hard reset will not affect your personal data.

    A refresh should not affect your personal data, but I do not pretend to do a backup in the case where.

    A recovery will remove all data from the drive and reformat it, before you reinstall it again to the State of the plant.

    Good luck!

  • Inspiron 531 does not completely start upward after replacing the power supply?

    Hey people. This Inspiron 531 since 2007 and he has been a champion for me. In the past months, the power supply fan start getting real loud (intermittently) so I finally looked around and found the same feed Integrator Delta on ebay. Put him in this afternoon very carefully, but while doing the 'blue' cable hard drive that connects to the motherboard is out the motherboard. There are two connections on the motherboard, SATA 0 and SATA 3. I have no idea who it was so I tried it reconnection to SATA 0 (which was blue too) and all turned on. There, I sat on the DELL screen and no full boot. Shut down and tried the SATA 3 connector and basically the same thing has happened although there was some funky boss on the lower part of the screen and still no full boot.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    Updated - I should also mention this power connectors P4 and P7 were not used until I swapped out.

    And also when I try and start I get the DELL screen that shows the F2 and F12 Boot Menu on the top right of the screen.

    The primary C: / SATA HDD, is connected to SATA 0 connector motherboard.

    Are the P1 24 pins and power connectors 4 pin P2, connected to the motherboard?

    Have you tried to remove and reinstall all the memory modules and the power data cables in front and all the readers and motherboard, to see if that makes a difference.

    Check the power LED button reading, is stable blue, flashing blue, Orange fixed, blinking Amber?

    Are there any 'beep', if there is, please publish the sequence of them?

    Restore point:

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
  • computer does not aftwr trying to upgrade ram
    I just upgraded my ram on my hpdv6 and now the computer does not even start.
    Hello Deborah,.
    Thanks for the post.
    We need additional information to help you better, please answer the following
    1. What RAM slots that you use on the motherboard?
    2. Have you tried to move the RAM to grasp in other slots?
    3. Have you tried to remove the RAM upgrade and returning to more RAM? System now starts?
    Use your old set of RAM to boot into the BIOS, and then manually change the voltage and the timings to the specifications of the new RAM. Save and exit, turn off the machine, put the new RAM in and check the status of the issue.
    Note: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
    I suggest also please contact the manufacturer for help bettre.
    I hope this helps.
  • computer does not start after installing video card
    I, m new here so please bear with me.  I have a PC HP Pavilion Media Center TV (m7434n) I'm trying to replace the video card (Nvidia GeForce 6200SE with Turbo Cache) in. I am trying to replace it with a Nvidia EVGA 8400GS. I delete all the nvidia drivers, make sure that the pci-e card is used in the implementation. I have then to remove the old card and install a new one. When I try to start the computer, fans turn on but that's all.  There is nothing on the monitor.  The computer does not start. I replaced the power supply bestec 300 watts with a new antec brand 430 watt power supply.  When I reinstalled the old video card, the computer starts ok. I tried to replace the video card with an ATI Radeon HD5550 too and it's the same thing (the computer would not start), reinstall the old card and it starts up fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Gary,
    You may have a compatibility issue with the ATI HD 5550 and 2006 PC model.  I've seen other posts where ATI 5xxx video card did not work in older HP PCs.
    When you are referring to the installation of the older video card do you mean going back to the integrated video card?  Moving the video cable to the card installed?
    Install the NVIDIA 8400GS and connect the video cable. Now follow the instructions for clear the CMOS.
  • You can save a broken computer? My computer does NOT start after the blue hp screen.
    In the past months, my computer has been the object of a freezing randomly, and Ctrl + Alt + Delete does not work. I stopped him via the power button. Sometimes, when I start it again, the computer moniter shows nothing but a black screen and the computer sounds different when it starts normally. When this happens, I turn it off again hit the left side of the desktop and turn on again. Whenever I do this, the computer starts normally, and I go on the computer use.
    Yesterday morning, after a break of 2 days, acess my computer and it is random freezing thing once again. I force close down as one normally do, and the computer does not start and displays the same black screen and the same fan/air weird sound. I stopped him and I hit the side RIGHT this time, I think and when I turn on the computer, the usual blue HP screen appears with the establishment, boot, diagnostics and system recovery things. HOWEVER, after this screen, a black screen will appear with this weird blue symbol on the upper left corner, I have never seen this and it looks like a circle with a triangle and a Pentagon below and it remains essentially on this screen forever. When I try to hit the establishment, boot, diagnostics and the shortcuts to system recovery, on the lower left side of the screen, it says "Menu boot loading...". ' or whatever the shortcut of loading represents, but nothing ever happens. When I press the other keys, this tapping noise comes from the computer at each tap of the keyboard.
    I have no idea what to do, and at this point, my first priority is to save important files on the computer. Does anyone know what is the problem? I want her more than a problem of system rather than a virus problem because refusing the boot black screen thing lasts for years. My computer is 3-4 years. I enclose a sketch of what looks like the weird symbol.
    MY COMPUTER WORKS NOW!
    With the flash drive, I was able to access the BIOS, which before, I couldn't.
    Eventually my computer was in some strange sort of lockdown setting, I switched it back to activate and now its work! I remember save important things in the future. Thank you very much for your help!
  • Computer does not start after installing a new graphics card
    I am owner of a HP Pavilion H8-1020 with a processor intel i7 - 2600 s Windows 7 and am trying to upgrade my Radeon hd 6570 to a Gigabyte AMD Radeon R9 280 OC. I improved my diet for a Corsair CX750 to meet the requirements of power and installed with number. After the installation of the new card, which as far as I can tell is well seated in the pci slot and correctly connected to the PSU, my computer does not start.
    System powers on, all fans of begin to run including the fans on the new graphics card, but it does not begin the boot process, no entry is received at my monitors, no light on the keyboard, my OS starts loading, I can turn off the system without the delay that will flow normally. Then I reinstalled my old graphics card and the computer started as usual.
    Now, assuming that the card is not DOA, which unfourtunatly I have no way to verify, and I'd like to see if it could be another problem before going through the process of restitution. I did some reading on the internet, which helped, but did not help for a technological neophyte like me.  Now, I know a few things that could cause this problem but lack the necessary skills to determine what question is making me. What I've read, these could be possible questions:
    1: my new graphics card is not compatible with my motherboard. It's something I know now that I should have checked before buying and something I should theoretically be able to do it now, but I am at a loss on how to do it. My card is compatible with my motherboard?
    2 could be a BIOS problem. I updated my bios driver with the version provided by the HP site. I am running FRIEND 7.16 05/10/2011.  And from what I've read it might have something to do with my bios to UEFI mode and I would need to go to a legacy mode so he can recognize a new device, is it true? I am extremely wary of messing with my BIOS settings for fear of bricking my system. How can I check my current BIOS settings are and what I should change and how would approach I change them? Will one of these changes affect my system if they are not what is not causing the problem?
    In addition to these issues, anyone know any other matter which may be the cause of the problem that I should look for? Thanks for any help.
    Hello @Eric_Z,
    I can see why you are having problems with your new graphics card, and to get to the fast response that your motherboard is not compatible with the new graphics card that you have purchased. And here's why.
    Your motherboard according to the page HP Pavilion HPE h8-1020 Desktop PC product specifications is the Carmel motherboard, which has the following expansion slots:
    • A PCI Express x 16
    • Three PCI Express x 1 connectors
    • A PCI Express Mini Card x 1
    As there is no version indicated for your PCI Express x 16 it slot means that it is version 1.
    Now, your previous graphics card was a PCI Express 2.1 x 16, which means that it was version 2 and compatible with your PCI Express x 16 slot on your motherboard. However, the new card is PCI Express 3.0 and will not work in your motherboard due to a compatibility break. While the technology is supposed to be compatible there are many cases where it is not, and I'm afraid that you meet one of these cases.
    I am offering an overclock.net article entitled: the final answer to the controversial compatibility of PCIe x 16 version. where your situation has been tested and examined.
    I hope this helps. Have a great day and thank you for display on the HP Forums!
  • Update causing the computer does not start...
    I downloaded the last windows update last night and now my computer will not boot even upward... to have to borrow another computer to try to find an answer!  I don't know even what updates have been downloaded, because I did it just before closing down.  I have Windows Vista 64-bit. What should I do?
    mizchevas01,
    As Paviro suggested, you should try to start in Safe Mode.  If you are able to do it then you can try a system restore to an earlier date updates.  So, I suggest that you install the updates one at a time (make a note of which one, you install every time) and see if the problem occurs again.  If you know one that has the problem and this will help solve the problem.
    You should also check that all your drivers are up-to-date.  You should go to the website of the hardware manufacturer to obtain the latest drivers. Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers
