    I accepted an update from Microsoft for Vista SP1 on my Acer 5920 laptop. After re-boot to complete the update, the Acer is no longer wakes up. What happened and how I can fix itplease?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
    See you soon.
    I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 on an Acer Extensa 4420.  I had problems with my laptop screen.  Whenever we try to change user or shut down the computer, the laptop screen does not illuminate.  I tried something I read on the internet, where you remove the battery and unplug the unit and then put the back and reboot and it worked for awhile but is less consistent.
    Hello
    Method 1
    Step 1:  I suggest to start in safe mode and see if you can boot to the desktop:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
    Step 2: If you successfully boot to the desktop then safe mode put the computer in a clean boot, and then restart the computer:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
    Note: after a repair, be sure to configure the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.
    Method 2: If you are able to boot to the desktop in safe mode, then try a system restore and see if it helps:
    I downloaded the SP2 for Vista and now my phone is blocked 3 of 3 update after reboot. It is stuck at 0% complete. How to spend it?
    Hello
    1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode
    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm
    Windows Vista
    Using the F8 method:
    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.
  • Laptop crashes after replacing hard drive
    I am REALLY frustrated with my laptop. It's a Vista Home Premium 64 x (Toshiba, model No.: L305-S5912). I JUST had a new HDD replacement - after that this problem happened to me. Now this problem occurs AGAIN, for THE 7TH TIME. I will describe this stupid, annoying problem. At first, I had a black screen of death. I tried to restore, but it did not work, and SOMEHOW, I ended up getting a Blue Screen of Death. After that, I replaced my hard drive. It worked for about 2 MONTHS. And now, it's happening all over again. My laptop kept freezing, and I kept restarting. Then, I tried safe mode. Safe mode worked for LEFT, and then it froze. So, I turned off the and he turned his back. I tried to run my laptop in 'normal' mode, but he always kept freezing. And now I have a black screen of death. My laptop isn't even 2 years OLD YET, and that's all the 7th time this happened to me. I JUST replaced my hard drive and everything, and it's just the case all over again. I have no virus or anything like that, and Ctrl + Alt + Delete won't work, too. Please, someone help me, I JUST lost money replace my hard drive, and now it's broken AGAIN. I don't want to restore AGAIN...
    Well your options are not good. If you have data on the player take out of
    your computer and place it in a USB hard drive on another computer case
    and copy your data off.
    Then reinstall windows. How to do this should be in your manual.
  • Laptop crashes after the battery is connected, must charge laptopn until I use it... irritating
    My laptop caused a lot of problems and I don't know why. This is beacause of my driver problem? By the way, my laptopn was bought in year 2007 while the driver is old enough so it's because of my driver? My battery seems fine, I bought it not too long because my previous charged was broken and the new charger autour cost $99.So can someone help me?
    You have a hardware problem-the battery, the charge adapter, the connections between then, or maybe even something else (I can't say without testing).  It is possible the battery you bought is not exactly compatible with your system, if it was not EXACTLY the same battery.  I recommend that take you to a repair shop of computer good reputation for service and a diagnosis of the problem.  You could also send it to the manufacturer for service.  Compare the costs, the calendar, warranties, parts availability, reputation and any other factor consider you important and make your choice.
    Why are removing you the battery in any way - why isn't she always left in the laptop and the charger plugged in during the night (even if the system is stopped) in order to regain full battery charge and this problem never occurs (even if you still have a problem that needs to be fixed - at least irritation will decrease until get you it fixed)?
    And what driver are you talking about?  You said nothing about what driver for this device or is that the problem or when it occurs or when he started or whatever it is - and we have need to know these things to help.
    I hope this helps.  Please answer the questions above before repair in case we discover another possible cause that can avoid this need.
    Good luck!
  • Computer HP8710p laptop will not boot at all
    I have a laptop of HP8710P under Windows 7 SP1 that does not start on battery, adapter sector or docking station.  There are no blue screen, no hard drive, no fan activity activity.  I reinstalled the battery, hard drive and RAM.  When I try to turn it on, the light above the number keys blink, but then go out immediately. The only light that stays on is the battery on the front indicator. Any help will be appreciated.
    The answer I found seems to be the battery.  After I replaced the battery of the laptop starts fine.  When I installed the battery on another 8710p, this is the same thing.  The battery seems to be a short circuit on the circuit somehow.  Thanks for the help.
