I have a few questions, I hope you can answer me.

In fact, I have a controller connected to 3 Lwap 2100, and they are connected to the WCS. they have a static IP address.

The distance between each point of access to more than 30 meters.

    1. the distance between the access points affect the accuracy or the stream. How can I calculate this

    2. because the APs use a static IP address, each customer should I connect to the network to add a static ip address? can I do the APs detect clients dynamically?

    Hello Ahmed,.

Yes the distance between AP affect the wireless signal.

to determine the best location of AP and the distance between them, as the site survey is necessary with the expert of the spectrum wireless or airmagnat...

You can check the following links for design and RF management

for other questions about DHCP, it is not a must that customer use static IP, you can always configure them with DHCP.

as an extenal DHCP (like windows server), or on the WLC himself (to the title of controller-> > internal DHCP tab).

  • Regarding the file of configuration on the WLC

    Hi all

I would like to replace an AIR-WLC4402-25-K9 with AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 because of the amount of AP problem. The two controllers are running on the same version of the software 4.2.61.0. Just out of curiosity, can I just backup the old configuration and download to the new controller? I guess it should work. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Any input will be appreciated.

    Robert

    Robert,

It should work, because the difference between them is at a level of asic and not a config.  As long as you don't have two of them on the wire at the same time there should be no problem.

Alternatively, you can shoot the show running-config to the WLC-25 and then download that the WLC-50 in the config > mode

    See you soon,.

  • question about configuration transfer 4402 WLC

    Hello world

I am thinking to replace an AIR-WLC4402-25-K9, which runs on the code 4.2.61.0 with an AIR-WLC4402-50-K9 running on 7.0.116.0. Can I back up the configuration of the AIR-WLC4402-25-K9 and restore it on AIR-WLC4402-50-K9? Otherwise, what is the best way to set up the AIR-WLC4402-50-K9? What I have to set it up from scratch?

    Thanks for any input.

    Robert

    Hello

Nope! many new features is different in the code! the best way is to upgrade the WLC 4.2 to atleast 5.2 and more... coz the format of config backup is completely different in the two entities...

Let me know if that answers your question and please do not forget to note the useful messages!

  • Basic configuration of 4402 WLC

I have a WLC4402 attached to the trunk switch port 2950. The switch has 3 VLAN, 300, 400 and 500. Management and AP interfaces are marked on 500. I use a router 2600 on a stick that is also connected to the 2950 through another trunk. The AP Manager and IP address management are 172.16.20.1 and 172.16.20.2. The VLAN switch 2 have an IP subnet 10.10.10.0/24 and 10.10.11.0/24. I can ping to the management interface a PC on each VLAN without problem. As soon as I create a dynamic interface that is mapped to an IP to the VLAN 300 or 400, pings stop, unless I tag dynamic interfaces with 500 VLAN! I suspect it has to do with the VLAN native on the trunk but can't figure out how to get the dynamic interfaces for work.

You want to keep vlan 500. If you then leave without tag your management will be the vlan 1 is not recommended. When you configure the switch (trunk) port to vlan native 500, that means that andy untagged frames will be put on the vlan 500. The interfaces that you create must be referenced...

Configure the interface of management to '0' first of all, then set up the trunk with vlan native 500. then go back and set up the PA - manager without label '0 '.

  • Copy configuration WLC wlc next in the same mobility group

    Hello

We have a 4400 WLAN operational controller. We intend to deploy a new controller in the same mobility group.

How do we configure the second WLC? From scratch, or we could for example use backup configuration of the first WLC (just to change the address-ip/hostname etc.)?

    ARO

    Mikko

Or the other works, but remember that reproduction should be the new controller to be off the grid to avoid intellectual property conflicts. I like to build from scratch, and then to ensure that the same configuration settings, use WCS to push models. Local on controllers do is ok, if you only have a few, but if you have more that 5-10 you will find keeping all the controllers of the same becomes a management nightmare.

  • WLC - problems of configurations Wlapp

    Hello

I have connected the WCS to Wlc and WLC to AP

After giving the basic WLC and AP management ip configurations add, I still don't see that the AP of the controller.

do I have to configure each ap manually and assign it an ip address add? or just put the AP management ip add in controller?

If you can actually handle the WLC by using the WCS, you can 'force' the WCS to 'discover' the AP attached to this WLC.

Simply, in the controller tab, select your WLC and in the right list above, select "refresh the configuration of the controller" and GO, then WCS ask you if you want to keep the configuration of the WLC stored in the database of WCS or "Refresh" it remove the actual configuration. check Remove and go.

Finally, you can consider whether or not the HA is now displayed by the WCS.

    Best regards.

  • Authentication problems with PEAP WLC IAS Windows 2 k 3

    Hi all

I configured a WLC (6.0.182.0 model 2100) with authentiacion PEAP with IAS and DA of Microsoft Windows 2003. I read in the documentation "PEAP under Unified Wireless networks with Microsoft Authentication Service IAS (Internet)" in the process of installing Active Directory, it must select the "Permissions compatible with operating systems prior to Windows 2000 server". In my scenario the other option was selected "Permissions compatible only with Windows Server 2003 operating system or Windows 200".

I test this scenario and it does not work.

Is there a configuration in the WLC so that it can operate without having to reinstall the AD?

    Thank you

In most cases the WLC does not care about the type of authentication is used. It's really just the transmission by proxy requests between the client and the Radius server.

I'll make sure that your timer EAP are extensive with the commands:

  • WLC username/password daily visitor access

    Hello

I have a 2100 WLC and 1131 TOUR does anyone know it possible to create a guest net local user who has either a password changing every day or if it is possible to create several users that are valid for a given period of time. Basically, what I want to do is, once a month to create new users or passwords for each day of the month and credentials are valid for this day there.  I see that I can delay users but it would mean creating the user at midnight every day.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Q1: is it possible to create a net invited local user who has either a password changing every day?

A1: No, this isn't possible on users of invited local WLC

Q2: it is possible to create several users that are valid for a given period of time?

A2: Yes, you have to life by user comments that can be configured.

For your requireent, you need to maybe take a look at the other device of comments like the comment of the NAC server, or create the user DB on Radius ACS server for time limits.

  • APs broadcasting SSID no manual provisioning WLC (using DNS resolution to find WLC)?

    Hello community,

I use DNS name resolution to make discovery APs WLC here for the first time.

Could I do APs SSID broadcasting without any manual configuration on the WLC (provisioning AP)?

If so, it is possible to just allow APs to broadcast using their serial number or MAC address for example?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

I did not understand what is complete, but will try to put my point:

    1. If these are the (controller based AP) CAP, then you must add to WLC to have wireless access - I think that you already have or?

    2. once the AP joins WLC, they boradcast WLAN all (id 1 to 16) created the WLC.

There is no automatic process on caps, you must create the SSID on diffuse WLC from AP.

AP will not broadcast anything if they are not attached to the WLC.

I missed something or you have any other question?

I don't think that that is supported. It is best to configure the new wlc. You don't want to risk having a corrupt on the wlc configuration file. Configure the new, a side by side for you can compare the configuration... does not take long.
