  PC hardware is not bad... as it goes.

  What you really need, is the other drives... usually a disk configuration 4-5 place the OS/programs on the C drive and many others, the following "bits": project files; cache/database files; preview files; media files.

  This would be a system 5 units, each option on a separate disk. And there are combos for running with 2, 3 or 4 drives total.

  The other option was an array of RAID - 0 4-6 disc scratched with your system drive.

  However ... Bill Gehrke, The expert on these things, reports rather incredible success using m.2 readers than a Samsung external T1, the latter able to run through a port USB3 (not nearly as high speed with external drives need more) and very usable read/write time with everything the program file being on the Samsung Q1 cross.

  Now, at $184 / USD, it's a bit spendy gig for the "disk space", BUT... it is big enough for most small to moderate users to have a few projects on at any given time. You just need to move things on and outside it as needed. But you compare the total cost of connection that versus purchase say disks 5 3/4-to & so that they know, it's significantly less expensive. And you can use external references USB3 large and cheaper for backend storage of work not in progress.

  So... maybe that would 'fix' your questions...

  What version of ESX?   MEM 1.1.x can create the configuration and it supports the VDS.

  In addition, TR1075 the configuration of vSphere guide has instructions on Configuration vDS.  So I'm not sure which document you were using.

  What 10GbE and 1GbE?    If you have distinct physical maps, I would still use a standard vSwitch on vDS.   Not really convinced that there is an advantage.

  The solution provided by Jessie is going to be the easiest to apply and maintain forward (the file you need to change is small and is rarely changed by core so fusion is easy).

  The only drawback is that a user will need to type the type of trade, it is to research instead of having a list of choice selection.

  First of all, I thought I would split the enet to 2 separate switches cables, but I was told that if I chose that this channel of ports 1 route would be active and 2nd would be Eve. Basically can not paste all 4 cards and divide them. This could reduce the bandwidth, but give me a redundancy using 2 physical switches.

  Or I can have all 4 enet cables go to the same switch (etherchannel), but if this switch would die I'm dead in the water, AND I think that EtherChannel mode WE (my network guy preferred LACP) should stay and LACP cannot be used.   This article describes the aggregation of ESX/ESXi links:

  • ESX/ESXi host only supports grouping NETWORK adapters on a single physical switch or stacked switches.
  • Aggregation of links is never supported on disparate networks switches.
  • The switch must be set to perform 802.3ad aggregation of links in static mode WE and the virtual switch must have its defined route based on the IP hashload balancing method.  Ensure that participants of the network adapters are connected to the ports configured on the same physical switch.
  • Allowing each route based on the IP hash without 802.3ad aggregation or vice versa disrupts networking, so you must make the changes to the virtual switch first.   Yes, they should all be active, there is really no need passive adapters (that I'm aware of your configuration).

  On your physical switches, you don't need to do anything more than what allows a VLAN correct, i.e.: should all etherchannel or a similar montage. Side vSwitch, you must use the default 'Port ID' nic teaming strategy.

  Looking for some recommendations on the configuration of disk for CS4. Some QuickSpecs. XP Pro 64 bit, Intel i7 extreme, 12 GB of DDR3 RAM and 8 Velociraptor 300 GB disks.

  I originally it was configured as a single array (RAID 5 with online backup) with two partitions (one for the OS and program files) and one for the storage and the file Page on the table and zero.  I wasn't getting very good performance so I decided to clean up and reconfigure.

  I'd be better off with 2 tables? An array of 0(600 GB) RAID 2 disks for OS, Program Files and Scratch space. and the second table of 6 drives in RAID 5 (1.3 to) for storage?

  Or maybe even go with a single hard drive for OS and Program Files (300 GB).  One drive for Scratch space (300 GB).  and then the 6 disks in RAID 5 for storage?

  Also, where would be the best loacation for the pagefile?

  Keep things simple:

  1. go to Win7-64

  2 C disc for OS & programs, only Velociraptor

  3 D for the swap file disk, and all the rest, 7 x Velociraptor in a raid5 configuration
