Confused multicast network activity

I was using the multicast sample included in the installation of the 4 ENTITY, test multicast. I'm confused as to what I should see my resource monitor - network (Win7). I can see the connections to customers playing the live stream, the only problem is that it seems that I send you the full bandwidth to customers. I thought that I would be the server send less bandwidth to each client. My first thought was that, because the clients and the server are on the same physical network that customers were mainly using the server as main seeder. I guess I'm asking how I can see multicasting is working.

When FMS transmits a stream of data in a multicast group, it becomes indeed a peer in the group.  The IP Multicast is the only exception to this because FMS bind to a multicast address and port and push the stream directly to it.  Because FMS is a counterpart of the group in the merger and level Application (P2P) scenarios, he will share the stream with its direct neighbours.  By default, FMS will grow up to 4 copies of the output stream.  You can adjust this value by changing NetStream.multicastPushNeighborLimit.  If the server and the clients are on the same subnet, you can set the merge data stream type (in the Configurator) and SGF will insert a multicast IP copy and share it as a peer in the group.  Clients on the same subnet will generally get the IP multicast stream, first and share with their peers in the group, who cannot receive data via IP multicast.  Multicast IP can be configured in your network equipment to route the data on additional subnets for more advanced scenarios.

Bandwidth savings becomes more obvious when you have a very large number of participants in the Group of any display of the stream.  To give you an example, at Adobe, we use a server to process thousands of customers viewing a multicast stream.  To minimize the P2P traffic between offices during these events, we partition viewers in remote offices in a panel appointed to this post.  In doing so, FMS will send about 3 or 4 copies of the flow of this office WAN link, and then it will broadcast between peers in this office.

In the multicast of the sample player application included with FMS, you can modify the HTML code to enable debugging.  The variable debugging flash is currently commented out.  You can uncomment only and this player displays a button that toggles debug windows.  If you look in the left pane of debugging, you will see a print of NetStream.multicastInfo properties.  You can use these to determine where and how your data are received.

that is bytesRequestedFromPeers would indicate how derive you from their peers while bytesReceivedFromIPMulticast represents the data that you receive directly from IP multicast

I hope this helps to clear up the confusion.

  • 64-bit Windows 7 mouse freezes / stuttering several times per minute, when the network activity is high

    Hi all
I recently bought a new computer Packard Bell with a Windows 7 OEM who have a problem with the mouse and keyboard. I've been in contact with the manufacturer, but they are also confused that I have on this issue. After looking in many discussions about the problems of the mouse in windows 7, I found that there are many who have this problem but there is no consistency in the HW configuration, i.e. it seems more a problem with the OS.
I really like the machine and Windows 7, but I have a nagging issue with frequent 1-2 second freeze/stuttering of the mouse during the 'high' network activity (e.g. streaming a YouTube video). During my research, I met at least 4 people who who call network activity affect the behavior of the mouse.
Sometimes the keyboard or the mouse becomes completely insensitive and the system must be restarted. However, on these occasions, the rest of the system is not affected - for example Skype and other programs to continue to operate without glitch or lag.
To try to solve this problem, I did the following (with no effect on the problem):
-Updated all the drivers to the latest.
-J' tried different version of the mouse drivers (most recent running now).
-Tried different versions of the network driver (latest running now).
-Change keyboard and mouse to the PS2 came with the computer.
-Set the system to 'high performance '.
    -Changed for USB mouse
-J' tried various Bios settings 'mode of power/suspend' (proposed in solution in another thread)
One thing that has had a strange effect on the problem was:
-Seen the PS2 and USB mouse is touching one when the other freezes / stuttering will immediately resolve stuttering gel.
    I have studied/noted:
-There has never been a 'error box"popping up in Windows when this happens.
-In the event viewer I see warnings from "i8042prt" regarding (remember, thie is translated from Swedish :) 'The device sent an incorrect response, once the keyboard has been reset' (this is what I found, if you need more information please ask but provide what to look for and where)
My system has the following specifications:
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
    Versions: 6.1.7600 build 7600
    Manufacturer: Packard Bell
    Computer model: ipower G3720

    Version SMBIOS 2.6
HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) Version = "6.1.7600.16385".

    Hi Chris,

I might have a happy ending to this topic :)
I returned my old piece of system got another, it worked fine at first, but then the mouse began to stutter once again.

The system had only a few programs installed so I started to uninstall it to see if it changed anything.
    A program - Skype.

I never suspected that my friends use Windows 7 and Skype without any problem, although they could not use quadcore and 64-bit version.

My system is without stutters and glitches for a week, so I'm pretty sure that was the problem.
That Skype is a very wide spread of IM, it could apply to other institutions.

    Thanks for your help!

When will there be a vibrant network icon in windows 7 as in xp? It is very important to many people to know when network activity.

A better 'toy' is always BitMeter II of Codebox (http://codebox.org.uk/pages/home).  I've used this for years.  Gives you an active icon in the tray system, sorry, Notification area and a floating graphic appear on the desktop with clicks, if you wish.  Does not give you a link to the network properties, but you can leave the old icon here for that.

  • OfficeJet 8500 product constant network activity

I just installed an Officejet Pro 8500 all-in-One as a cable network printer.  The network has the OJ8500 and 2 computers (Win XP), but the OJ8500 software is installed on a single computer.

Since the installation is complete, there is constant network (two seconds) traffic between the OJ8500 and the computer.  Questions.  Exactly what part of the software OJ8500 is originally the network activity?  What I have to change in order to minimize or eliminate the network activity?  Can I eliminate network activity and still continue to use the features of the OJ8500?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Our SW printer queries the printer every three seconds (or two) for admission to the status and to detect if the computer scanning function has been started (a decision of regrettable design IMHO).  Traffic is relatively low at ~ 60 bytes/s about.

You can stop the modalities of the election even if you lose some features of the printer - including the ability to start the printer scans and detection of the ink levels.  If you wish, you can try to experiment with disabling the HP Digital monitor start-up service in your Windows machine.

  • «"Discover your networks Active to connect or disconnect"»

    Windows 7 x 64 Home Premium.

Just for my own interest, under the "network and sharing" Section, it says "View Your Active Networks" and there is a blue link next to him to "connect or disconnect."

By clicking on the blue link just brings a list of networks connected and disconnected or by clicking this link actually modifies the network connection status to disconnect?

I was under the impression that the only way to disconnect a network by clicking on 'Connect to the Local network' and clicking on "Disable" under the setting "activity".

    Thank you very much.

Here are answers to your query:

Q1. Yes. When you click on the blue link 'Connect or Disconnect', it will bring up a list of cable networks and wireless, connected or disconnected.

Q2. Once you click on the link 'connect or disconnect', it will open the network Flyout.

Q2A. It is not separate from Network Flyoutto display the list of networks. For you to access, you must click on the link 'connect or disconnect' blue.

You can also access the Network Flyout by clicking on the cable icon at the bottom right of your screen. See screenshot below:

Q2B. In the screenshot above, it shows the WiFi connection and connected together.

Q3. Yes. to disconnect a wired connection is by clicking on the button 'Disable' with the parameter 'activity '.

-create a profile new and fresh
    -Disabling proxy http in settings
    -restart firefox and the computer
-can use Chrome without problems, keeping the speed problems General network/internet

Problem: I use Firefox as my default browser constantly. It was working fine yesterday during most of the day. However, when I came home at night and shot to the top of the computer, browsing the internet with Firefox was agonizing. I'm talking like 10-20 seconds to load pages that load almost instantly on Chrome on the same computer.

I note that, sometimes, a page loads almost instantly as it should, but then this page and further assets page loads will return to take a long time.

I realized that the problem was the DNS settings on my system. The third worked in resolve.conf name server. As soon as I removed the first two and left just the right name server, this problem has disappeared.

  • VPN site to Site, LRT214, Windows network active directory DNS, WINS, and DHCP

    Hi guys

New to the forum. I'm trying to set up a network between 2 sites (one site to another). Each location has a DC with its own protocol, dhcp, dns and wins on the same domain service. I bought 2 LRT214 to establish the connection between the 2 sites.

I tried searching, but all results are pretty generic (IE assuming you will use the LRT214 as DNS DHCP etc.).

I went through the pages of the router configuration, and there are so many options. For my particular configuration objectives, which will be the best way to do this? Open vpn? EasyLink vpn? I think I'd rather do a standard vpn configuration, but then for that I have a lot of questions such as: security methods to use (FROM THE, 3DES, SHA1, MD5, etc.). can I export a cert of AD and import to the router, or export from the router and import to AD?

I know the questions are in all directions and there is much more that I don't specifically know until I get by configuring this router at both ends. Just trying to come up with an initial plan. I guess someone must have made a similar setup and would like to know what is a good start (maybe less safe to operate), and while I get more familiar and it all worked, start to down to safety.

Is there maybe a guide who walks through this installation with explanations of each parameter type?

  • network activity excessive spoolsv.exe

I noticed on a user so far that there is a TON of data through the VPN to our print server (approximately 1 MB of his connection uses). Total 3Gbs this morning. I went to our print server, open monitor resource and found that the spoolsv.exe is the process that uses the data. His laptop is not the only one to do that.  There is also what is happening for internal users. There nothing to print, and other users have nothing in the queue or print either. You can tell when a user who is working properly, prints. Data spikes until the print job is finished sending. Users who have this problem constantly send data, send or receive.

has anyone else encountered this problem? I have looked everywhere on the internet and found some users who have had the problem, but nothing to fix. I can stop the spooler service, but once it is started again the data starts to flow. I did this on the clients and the server. I also made sure to check / clears the queue on the server and the clients.

  • No network activity of the Console more after a reboot

    Hello

    I joined behavior.

Restarted my ESX 3.5 and I have more access by network to my console.

All the VM has started and are working properly.

If I connect to the 'physical' console, I can see the correct IP config, ping myself... everything is good, but no communication with any other host network

    Any ideas?

    THX

We had this problem once and it turns out it's a network card doubtful of the blade as opposed to something to do with ESX.  Did you run any diags to see if it's the blade?  Our showed that connected until we ran diags and restarted the blade and then he started to point out the mistakes on the physical NETWORK interface cards.

  • Confusion of Network Configuration.

OK, here's the deal. I have an ESXi host in a data center away from me. He is sitting behind a couple of pretty good/great firewall with a number of IP addresses external, are attributed to him. There are already a few virtual machines on the ESXi host with their own connections to the internet. They are a production environment and cannot be brought if ever that. Which asked me to do, is to emulate and then to transfer our existing to the ESXi host physical network. Our network consists of a server, ISA Server 2006, a couple of DCs, a pair of Exchange servers in a FE / BE deployment and a few Certification authorities. What I would like to know, is how I configure VMs for these machines so that they would work just like their own little network, not interfere with production machines and have all their traffic through the VM ISA of the funnel. Access to the outside world would be implemented virtual machines with their own addressing scheme of dedicated and then subnet/ip to have the external IP address of the VM ISA pointing at them to use the VM ISA as a gateway on the subnet ESXi allowing enough? Horsepower and bandwidth are NOT a problem what so ever with the data center or ESXi host. I was given pretty much free rein during the purchase of the ESXi host and the security of the data center.

Will be my virtual machines on their own subnet, and using gateways configuration plan be enough?

    Thanks in advance.

Looks like you want to use VLAN vSwitches or extra.  Either way should work perfectly.  Additional VSwitches require additional physical NIC, which not to be an option.

    Road of VLAN:

    Configuration-> network

Select the Virtual Machine port group that contains the virtual machine

    Assign a VLAN ID

Create another Virtual Machine port group and assign a different VLAN ID.

Add an additional NETWORK card to the ISA server computer and place it in the new Port Group.

Now the ISA server computer has a NETWORK adapter in each network.

Use differnet subnets for each VLAN.

This way both groups of computers can use the same ISA Server and do not interfere with each other.

Add the VLAN ID to the vSwitch shouldn't affect the virtual machine in the Port Group. But if these VM communicate with anything outside the host without going through ISA, they must be added to this new VLAN one way or another.

If you have found this or other useful information, please consider awarding points to 'Correct' or 'useful '.

  • Activity of the network and CPU utilization

    Hello

I am using windows vista 64-bit edition. Recently I noticed it was a network activity of 2.5% during the period of idle. and when I use internet the % increases. I have no other significant problems with my PC. When I add a column (BytesRecvd) in the Task Manager. It also shows receive bytes. I checked the resource monitor, but it does not watch everything continues to receive bytes. I have tried all my ways to get rid of this. A full scan with Security Essentials, Malware analysis with Malwarebytes anti-malware. monitor task etc... But could not find a solution. I installed a separate installation of vista (32 bit) in another harddrive after you have completely disconnected from the current. and after completing the installation, the use of the % network sucked in an inactive state. I have not installed any software other than vista and Security Essentials.

I started to install the new updates of net, and after completing the updates it again 2.5%. Is this a bug in the updates or is no problem with my computer. Normally I use the system as a limited user privilege.

    Help, please.

    Anand

I'm happy I could help - it was my pleasure.

Thanks for the kind words and comments - it is greatly appreciated.

The fact that you have 0 activity in Mode safe suggests a program which does not work in mode safe but doesn't work in normal mode is causing the activity - but I don't know what that might be.

Try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

I hope this helps.  Post back if you have any other questions.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • Network - VMnet-natd(8) activity; OK to enable?

I use 3 different copies of VMWare Fusion to run Win XP on 3 different Macs.  They all work very well. I love it! There is no 'problem', just a matter of technique that I hope someone can answer to put my mind at ease.

    I use a different program on all 3 of the same Mac that monitors all outgoing network activity and allows me to choose all the outgoing activity instances. whether you want to leave it out or not.  When I run Win XP and turn on the network connection of the merger there is a Fusion process where something called "VMnet-natd(8)" is over and over again to send amounts to little info on what I guess, maybe it's an address for my ISP.  I use Comcast and the address it contacts with constantly is;

    CNS.Beaverton.or.bverton.Comcast.net

Anyone know if this is the normal, safe and acceptable behavior that I shouldn't block?

    What he does?

This is quite normal because it checks only the validity of the network...
