Confused on the SSD of 16 Go on e530
Hi, I have an e530, the specs say it comes with a 16 GB SSD and HDD 500 GB, the operating system must be installed on the ssd drive which gives much faster, I would have expected, I guess that's wrong?
Infact that I don't really know where is the drive, or how I use it even if I don't see it anywhere?
This is the first time I used SSDS, so I don't know if I'm missunderstanding is use?
Here is a screenshot of my disk management window:
Can anyone advice me on what is correct and if I am Abu thiking that the bad sense?
the screenshot above seem it correct?
Thank you
James

not enough options for the SSD drives?
I intend to buy a desktop XPS 8700 special edition. I am disappointed that it doesn't give options for this model - for hard drives, only "2 TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s + 256 GB SSD"-which is obviously a good combination, but for me, I think that a smaller SSD drive would be nice. "" Otherwise, I like the rest of the system. A friend who built his own PC says it has installed an SSD of 128 G and it is sufficiently large with Win8, MS Office, Photoshop and other large programs installed.
So it of just a comment, is not a problem, but I hope that Dell would offer more options, including a drive to 3 or 4. A Dell technician suggested going to road work stations - but when I looked there, I was a little confused on the readers - workstations all seem to have several readers, probably for Raid configurations, which is something over my head and on my needs.
Or is it a good idea to have a lot of free space on the SSD drive?
Hi Hellogoodby,
Thanks for your comments. It isn't that much of a difference in cost between the 128 GB and 256 GB SSD. Dell is probably buying in bulk from the right and customer demand now, most people want 256 GB or more. You are absolutely right that 128 GB is plenty for the OS and applications. I have a 250 GB Samsung Evo and have used less than 50 GB for the operating system, office and all my other apps.

Options of the SSD in late 2013 Mac Pro update?
Options of the SSD in late 2013 Mac Pro update?
Mac Pro has 256 GB which is almost full despite the displacement of all the large files (Photos, downloads, etc.) out of the disc. I'm at a point where the Player update seems to be a must.
OWC option seems a bit of a hack using a slower drive and a controller.
https://eShop.MacSales.com/shop/SSD/OWC/Mac-Pro/2013
MCETECH claims to use a new disk allowed Apple with trim shoring and the ability of bootcamp to use Windows (important to me).
There are eBay sellers who claim to use the running game in recent versions of the end of 2013 Mac Pro.
and
two sellers have a very high rating, but I don't trust eBay.
The MCETECH seems to ensure ongoing compatibility as it is a part of Apple.
Any ideas or experiences with the above or other good known options?
OWC option seems a bit of a hack using a slower drive and a controller.
I think you're bad read the OWC page. They propose to replace the internal SSD stick with their largest capacity SSD stick. The external box is only for you to continue to use the original USB key (perfect condition) as an external drive, if you wish.

Organizing files on the SSD and HDD
Hello
According to me, there are answers to this, but I found them a bit too technical and advanced for my level of knowledge.
I have a 250 GB SSD and a 1 TB HARD drive and am looking for the best way to structure my work FCPX (the SSD is too small to store everything). The application is installed on the SSD, which I suppose is the best for performance. I recently discovered the properties of the library menu and set it to store media and backups on my HARD drive, but the Cache on my SSD. I don't really know if it's the best - any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Dave
The SSD is the system drive? In general, I put everything on the media player, external, fast drive. Minimum USB3.

Increase the performance of MAC with the SSD upgrade
I have a 21.5-inch iMac model 14.1 (end 2013) with 8 GB of memory and a 1 TB drive. On this, I use some applications in memory such as Adobe CS 5.5 and VMWare Fusion 8.1.1. I have Applecare on the machine until September 2017. I often find myself running out of memory. My goto solution would be to increase the memory and replace the hard drive with an SSD. I fear, however, that this cancels my Applecare. My research indicates that while that frowned upon, I can upgrade my memory and keep my Applecare as long as it is done by an authorized by Apple, but if I do the SSD I'm out of luck for the installed components. My thought is that I can get an external SSD and move the ' WIndows 10' VM (s), as well as expand and move the swapfiles for the SSD system.»
My questions are am I right about the Applecare and warranty and I plan to use an external SSD to accelerate performance and ease the work of memory constraints?

I have a Macbook Air in 2010 and also a 2008 iMac - both with only 4 GB of memory (you have twice as much), both running El Capitan and the two with SSD - and perform very well. The 2008 iMac used to have a rotating disc which has recently failed, with the replacement of SSD, it is a remarkable transformation with the new SSD, it seems very quickly for me. Both have Photoshop CS4, which is not used much more, but they run this software very well, as well as MS Office 2011 and other programs such as Mail, Safari, Firefox, etc. (Firefox + Photoshop together put a noticeable load on machines, in fact, but while I sometimes hear the fans come on the Macbook Air, it maintains not up very well) No slowdown) You'll be in great shape with a SSD for your newer computer. These old machines that I use have Core 2 Duo CPUs, chips relatively slow, but they seem very quickly with the SSD.
You will need to check with Apple directly on your AppleCare and so that would be affected. I don't know that anyone is not Apple should trust this question.

Slow startup after installing the SSD because gray screen
I just installed a Samsung Evo 500 GB SSD in my Macbook Pro 2010. I went to start and it starts very slowly due to a gray screen just sat there for about 30 seconds and then it shows the apple logo and it takes another 15 seconds to load. The gray screen did not appear before installing the SSD but the Apple logo did take longer to load with the HARD drive. I used SuperDuper to clone my my SSD HARD drive and installed the SSD and it starts normally. The only issue was the gray screen. I've heard that I need to go into system preferences and select Startup disk, then my boot drive, but there is no choice. Help, please.

2011 21 inch iMac won't start after the SSD upgrade
Recently, I upgraded my hard drive for an SSD via a computer repair business in my neighborhood, I also upgraded the ram, but I don't think it's in the case. On a two weeks after the upgrade, my computer don't turn on more. I took it to the genius bar and they told me that the DSS had "failed." So of course, I took my computer to the computer repair company and they ran some tests, discovered that the hard disk does not (according to them, he only read this way because the apple store has run the test for a normal hard drive and not an SSD). I'm not super computer savvy, so I took their word for it.
Now, however, it has been nearly a month and my computer refuses to activate once again. Previously, it has worked well, the fans were running at full blast - what I knew would be a problem (although the repairman told me that they 'fixed' this issue too). So the first time, I downloaded a program called SSD fan control and set the fans to run in silent mode. This second time around, I realized that it was probably a bad idea because it could lead to overheating, so I put manually the fan speed so that we could hear still run, but just not as loud.
I tried the reset SMC, but no result. Right now, I unplugged everything including disconnect it from the power strip.
Any other experience of power with a new SSD failure? Is there anything else I could try at home before contacting the computer again repair business? I would not be able to reach at least until tomorrow, and I'm really curious to know how they managed to get my computer back on the first time.
Also, I've been out of my warranty period for about a year, so that's why I thought that I was not risking too much by exchanging the original for one SSD drive.
First of all, the original in Middle 2011 iMac hard drive had a temperature sensor integrated in the drive. More new or replacement of those who do not.
Other World Computing sells an Apple certified temperature sensor that plugs into the SATA cable.
https://eShop.MacSales.com/item/OWC/DIDIMACHDD11/
I just put a 2 GB Western Digital Black in mine, with the sensor.
I suggest all first, reinstall the OEM disc and see if it boots.
Put the SSD in an external enclosure and see if it runs...

Passage to the SSD for late 2008 MacBook for editing video: Samsung 850EVO or Pro?
Hello
There are a lot of things out there on the upgrade the bowels of SSD and I narrowed my choice to Samsung 850 Evo or Pro, but there are some details that I found not covered elsewhere. The idea is to give to my MacBook Pro a few years in addition to be able to edit HD video (currently, it slows to a halt). I'm also upgrading to 8 GB of RAM.
My questions are: both the EVO 850 and 850 Pro actually work in my model, old as it is?
I would notice the difference between the two while editing video, taking into account the difference and compatibility issues/limitations of price? (Limits of SATA would effectively slow the levels of the EVO Pro?)
If/when I get ahead, it is advisable to keep my entire modification on a with the main files external HARD drive, or should I keep makes it / cache on the SSD drive?
Here are my specs:
MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2008)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory
Macintosh HD boot disk
NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB graphics card
Running OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.
Please keep in mind, I am a techno-idiot and 90% of the above words I learned again in the last two days!
Thanks in anticipation,
Graeme.

Yes.

Probably not. You willing MBP of SATA2 connectivity and the full potential of each SSD not happen.
If/when I get ahead, it is advisable to keep my entire modification on a with the main files external HARD drive, or should I keep makes it / cache on the SSD drive?
It's your choice. If the capacity of SSDS is quite large, personally, I like to keep all data on a single disc, but maybe it's not convenient.
Ciao.

Compatibility of the SSD with MBP
I was advised to upgrade my MacBook Pro to replace my hard drive with an SSD. (Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB)
The results were great. But after a few weeks, the computer would suddenly stop and restart. Initially, it was casual; last week, it happened several times throughout the day.
Best Buy or Samsung would give me the time of day. I had owned the player for about 6 weeks. Tired, I bought another identical yesterday disc [never forget the madness of this decision!]. Today the computer just closed and restarted.
Is there a problem of compatibility here? Could someone suggest probable cause? The original never hard disk once done this.
Thank you.
MBP 15 "mid-2010
Intel Core i5 to 2.53 GHz
Remove the SSD, install it in an enclosure, plug it into the MBP via USB and see if it will start the MBP externally (key OPTION key at startup).
If so, the internal SATA cable is the main suspect. Replace it. This is common with SSDS in Mbps.
If no success, run an Apple Hardware Test:

Note that an error free AHT is inconclusive.

2011 Macbook Pro late since the SSD upgrade
Hello world. Just a heads-up that is my first question. Also, I like to think I'm good with computers but I'm no computer programmer, so I will try to describe my problem the best I can. My friend (who does) has updated my macbook at the beginning of 2011 pro with an SSD (brand is Crucial and 480 GB). As a side note we also tried with a Kingston brand and had the same problem. I'm pretty confident, that it was installed correctly. Since the upgrade, some functions are faster. For example open Google Chrome is faster than before the upgrade. I have problems when I look at the files and the use of the files stored on my hard drive. For example, when I watch a video that is saved on my hard drive on VLC (Quicktime) it will freeze all the minutes for at least thirty seconds. Also scroll through files Finder can lead to this gel. We are not quite sure what the problem is (my friend, so that good with the Mac is more of a PC guy). I saw other people posting here and thought maybe you all could help! I noticed that EtreCheck is very popular, so I made one of these reports for more details. I appreciate any feedback you can offer

I had a similar experience (occasional random delay of tens of seconds) upgrade my 13 "2011 MBP ("8.1"model), but my SSD was MacSales (Other World Computing). Their customer support has been excellent. They had me download and run a program of comparative analysis (Quickbench; it was free for me but apparently now costs $15) who served the SSD and allowed them to diagnose the problem as a bad 'HDD cable. I was dubious, but I went to an Apple store nearby, and after a lot of hassle, pushed them to replace the cable and that fixes the problem.
Of course, you might have a different problem but the defective hard drive cable is apparently quite common and appears only when you use SSDS (because of the faster transfer speeds, I guess).
As I recall (it was several years ago), the first Apple tried to make me pay $60 for the cable, more work, before they admitted he was covered under AppleCare. It is easy to replace. iFixit carry the cable and has great instructions to replace, but they seem to be out of stock at the moment (they have a button "Notify Me" for when it becomes available again). Try a local supplier of Apple authorized (use the Locator).
When you get your SSD is working properly, I hope that you will be very happy with it. It makes a huge difference for me.

Just create a boot SSD drive. You want to minumize what Mozilla wrote in the SSD. You want to change Max and log locations not SSD drive. Someone knows how, I could not find where it change?
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/browser.cache.disk.parent_directory
You can also install portable Firefox version, if you want to run Firefox on a disc of SS.

I have the 13-inch Retina Display early 2015 model. It contains 128 GB SSD and 8 GB of RAM.
I wanted to update both of them. Is this possible? I agree with HARD drive even if that is supported. 128 GB is not enough for me actually.
Help, please.
Without the SSD and RAM are both not upgradable.
One option is to sell your computer and use the money to buy a new one with the features you need.
There are two options to add an HD card to your card HD slot. Both options will be flush with the case.

Satellite Z930-12Z - add RAM and replace the SSD
Hi all
I'm new here and read some articles also on the Z930-12Z Satelite but I have two questions on the Satellite Z930-12Z:
1. What is the maximum RAM for Satellite Z930-12Z? There are two locations inside or accommodation?
I read this blog, but I don't understand if there are two slots or a slot...
https://Forum.Toshiba.EU/showthread...Llite-Z930-12Z2. could I change the SSD? Is there a maximum GB for SSDS for my Ultrabook? No matter what SSD I install?
I had these SSDS:
2.1 Kingston SMS200S3 / 480 G SSD 480 GB (6.4 cm (2.5 '' mSATA)
2.2 MZ-M5E500BW Samsung SSD 500 GB (mSATA)No matter what SSD I install?
Thank you in advance!

Two DIMM slots with 16 GB support apparently. You won't need 16 GB. Take a set of 2 x 4 GB RAM dual channel, I'll leave a link to a few good things that I use for my cell phone 16 GB

Also, Yes, of course, you can change the SSD, you will need to get some kind of USB 3.0 in the first mSATA interface and clone the existing drive overall, because laptops do not want fresh windows install.
