Connect XPS 17 LCD TV via HDMI cable

I have a XPS 17 L701X- and I'm trying to connect it via HDMI cable for a 32 '' LCD TV Phillips girlfriend with backlight. However, no matter what I try, the laptop never acknowledges that the TV is there and vice versa. I tried to restart, reinstall the video drivers, fiddling with settings in the control panel for multiple screens, tried two new HDMI cables separated from Amazon - and nothing works. (The TV works fine when it connects its Macbook via HDMI). Can someone please help?

Well Mitch, I advanced and bought this adapter part and, lo and behold, the work of workaround! First try also (at least in my case)-without debugging or diagnose.

Process, my three steps:

(1) I plugged the adapter Mini DisplayPort for my XPS (around the back next to the HDMI port); (2) I connected the HDMI cable to the adapter (the other end of the cable is already connected HDTV); (3) I have pressing F1 on my XPS and duplicate selected (key Windows + P or "Connect to a projector" If you work via Control Panel).

(I used StarTech Mini DisplayPort HDMI adapter)

-site of the factory that it lists as $22, but I bought mine from a local store of tech for less than half that price. I hope this helps!

  • I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I want to thank my wifi in another part of the House with an Airport Extreme. But I want to not be connected to the modem main via ethernet cable is it possible?

I put in place already to extend the wifi of my modem still connected to the modem via ethernet cable.

Now I want to be considered on the floor and use it to extend the wifi without ethernet cable

The AirPort Extreme can extend only wireless signal from another router from Apple, so if you want to take the AirPort Extreme on the floor and extend wireless signal, you will need another airport connected to your modem by Ethernet cable router to produce the wireless signal that will extend the extreme on the floor.

Another way of saying the same thing would be to say that if you want to extend wireless using a router from Apple, you'll need two of them do... because AirPort Extreme is not compatible with a third-party modem or modem/router for this purpose.

  • Portable plasma via HDMI cable... Don't make any noise of tv.

I read on many forums all weekend, this one being one of these forums, trying to figure out why I am unable to get sound from my TV when I connect my laptop up using an HDMI cable. I still have to find a solution to this problem so I created an account in the hope that someone can help me eventually. I've never tried this before so I am new to it... and my reason to do is I want to be able to take movies from my laptop and watch them on TV, so I don't have to burn it to DVD.

I'm not very sure what information may be needed to help me with this so, if you ask please and I'll be more than happy to inform you all that I can.

    What I've done so far...

HDMI output port on my laptop plugged directly into the HDMI 1 port on the back of my TV. I can get the picture on the tv very well... I went into panel/sounds...and control when the pc and the tv are connected I get a result of NVIDIA HDMI which shows works... the little icon thing left fluctuates up and down... But no sound coming from the tv. The default icon that displays in this area is not clickable for me and I don't know why. So I don't know what I have to do.

If anyone can help me through this, it would be great. I'll help you in any way I can and give all information is necessary if necessary by.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Download the following graphic driver and Chipset drive and keep them both on your desktop.

    Driver Chipset

    NVIDIA driver

Then, in Device Manager, open graphics cards, do a right-click on the graphics chip from Nvidia, and select Properties.  Click the driver tab, and then select uninstall.  Once completed, do the same for the for the Nvidia High Definition Audio Codec and high definition Audio Device under his video and game controllers.

Return to the desktop and install the driver from the Chipset, then the graphics driver.  When you are done, reboot the laptop.  Check in the device manager that the Nvidia Graphics driver and Nvidia Hi definition Audio codec have reinstalled successfully and if you now see the Nvidia HDMI output option under playback devices.  Do not try to define as a device by default again, just connect to the TV and see if it works.

  • Satellite A205: Dynadock - how to connect to LCD TV with HDMI Cable DVI

I recently bought this product and had a problem when connecting it to my LCD TV.
I used an HDMI cable to DVI to connect to the TV. Only a small part of the display shows on the TV.

I did all the settings on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it adjusts only the laptop screen, not TV.
I also used VGA adapter, connected to the entrance of the computer to the TV, same effect. Can I use VGA output on the side of the laptop to TV ok.

Any ideas on how to adjust output dynadock parameters?

First of all, it would be interesting to know what dynadock you exactly; a DVI or a VGA port?

    > I did all the settings on the laptop (Satellite A205) but it adjusts only the laptop screen, not TV.

You should know that the dynadock has an own integrated graphics controller and video drivers to control the video stream.
Therefore, you should change the settings directly in the settings dynadock and not on the laptop!

Which version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer?

    1. first you need a video cable to make the physical connection. For a better image quality, you must connect to the computer to the TV using standard VGA ports or via DVI to HDMI cable provided your TV supports these ports.
    2. open the "display settings" in your Vista computer and activate the output to the TV screen. You can reflect the content of your computer on the TV or extend the display as a double screen control.
    3. pick up your TV remote and switch to "External inputs" in the menu. You need to change the value by default "Video 1" to a different selection which may be "HDMI 1" or "video 2" depending on how you made the connection. "
Important: Make sure you connect the cable to the TV before turning on the computer, because sometimes it may not recognize the external display.
You may also change the resolution of your TV screen using the display settings in your panel of control remains the image may appear distorted.

  • Satellite A500-1pj - no image on LCD TV via HDMI

    Hello world

got a new Satellite A500-1pj and tried to connect it via HDMI with my Toshiba LCD TV 42XV635. Incredible, but it does not work.

What is happening is that the TV detects the laptop and the screen goes black but no office or something else appears. If I go to extended or clone I got it on the screen of the laptop, but not yet on the TV. Already tried three different cables, disabled/enabled almost every setting on TV, I tried new drivers, different resolutions,...

The only thing that works is to reduce the resolution to 1024 x 768, but even here the image is not that good (blue pixels across everything on dvd). So far, no response from the Toshiba support. Anyone here who has an idea?

    Thank you!

    Hi abra_xas,

It s interesting but I can't find any information on your operating system, but it would be interesting to know because I m sure that it s just a software or driver problem. I also have Satellite A500 and often connect to my LCD TV, but I never had any problems with it.

Usually if you connect two devices, use the FN + F5 key combination to switch between monitors.

Is also important that you use a high quality HDMI cable and connect both devices to first before you switch them on (TV should be switched on first and select the right channel).

  • Windows 8 detects no alternative display via HDMI cable

I have a new desktop dell running windows 8 and I want to connect to a larger screen (samsung LCD TV) via a 10 m HDMI cable.

I tried everything I could think of but have had no success.

    -Reinstall the drivers

-various implemented sequences (tv on pc first, on first of all, connect the cable last, etc..)

There is no problem with the cable, because it connects to TV to other devices and windows 7 laptops without too much effort.

Please someone help me as this has proved to be extremely frustrating.

    Hi Craig,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

    • You receive an error message?

I understand that you are able to connect Windows 7 computer to TV but not of Windows 8 computer through the same HDMI cable and I'll be happy to answer your query. First we will check if the TV model you are trying to connect is compatible with the operating system Windows 8. Please enter the exact model of the TV in the Compatibility Center and check.

In addition, since you are able to connect TV with Windows 7 computer, there will be possibility of incompatible drivers with the Windows 8 operating system. I suggest you to install the driver in compatibility mode and check.

Please see: make the programs more compatible with this version of Windows

For more information, you can refer to the manual of the TV or contact Samsung Support

Hope this information is useful. Please feel free to answer in the case where you are facing in the future other problems with Windows.

  • Can't play YouTube videos via HDMI cable

After you perform a search on this subject throughout this forum, I discovered most people go on wild tangents that are unrelated to the topic at hand. They can be fun; they can also be deep; but they are not answering my question. :-(

Yesterday, I received my microHDMI to HDMI cable and was eager to try to play a YouTube via my TV. Make the right connection with the TV turned on and booted up the Xoom to the YouTube app. Nothing appeared on my TV screen.

The cable is defective? I missed something in the translation? Later that night, I connected the Xoom to the TV again, this time only to the homescreen of the Xoom. The home screen is appeared on television! Joy! Then I tried YouTube through the browser instead of the YouTube app. Video opening appears on TV and the noise continued to play. BUT the image are remained frozen on the first frame of the video! :-(

What should I try next? I'm very happy with everything I've tried so far on the Xoom, but it would be very useful to be able to play videos YouTube on the TV. More specifically, when I'm in the kitchen, cooking or baking, I was able to follow good food that are available there as well as some of the videos. If I succeed, I could even be encouraged to buy a Motorola Bluetooth keyboard to control the Xoom to TV in the kitchen.

Thanks to all those who provide knowledgeable advice-

I just tried again to play YouTube in my Xoom via the HDMI cable using the YouTube app.

It worked perfectly! I also tried a video on CNNNews and that worked too.

Am unable to explain my failure yesterday, except - think - you polishing off a few gallons of Kentucky Bourbon could have an effect? ;-) ;-) ;-)

  • No sound through the TV speakers after connecting the dv7 - 1247 cl via hdmi

I have connected my laptop to my harman kardon receiver via hdmi, which is connected to my HDTV.  The video shows big... looks great. But no sound is coming through the TV speakers.  I went to the audio options and an hdmi output chosen, but still no sound. Any ideas?

    Ty

    Hello

Take the receiver the most out of the image and connect the laptop directly to the TV. Does your sound work now?  What SW you use for audio/video playback? MediaSmart? Try this also - disconnect the cable - release MediaSmart - plug the cable and then try again.

Press Fn + F4 to switch to HDMI only. This action refreshes the screen, transfers to the screen from the laptop to the external display and audio now comes from the HDTV sound system.
