Connection for external VGA monitor?

Model: HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j052nr

My laptop is not VGA port and I didn't know when I bought this laptop. Can suggest how to connect my laptop to Dell VGA external display? Some forums are saying you can buy USB cable VGA or HDMI VGA cable but the same people are complaining, it doesn't. Can anyone give good information and links to cables or adaptops WORK will BE for sure with this laptop.

Hello

HDMI to VGA cable does not work, you need a converter to switch from digital to analog. The following is an example:

I have a MacBook Pro of the retina on OS X El Capitan 10.11.3 running. Previously, I could connect a previous MacBook Pro (late 2009) to an external VGA monitor. I was told on the Apple store I could use the mini display in a Flash port dongle to connect to a VGA cable, but when I tried this, the monitor could not get a signal. Is there another dongle I should use? I have a HDMI cable which I assume will work with most modern projectors, but I really want to go to this old VGA monitor for editing in iMovie.

  • Satellite L650 - HDMI connection for external monitor

I've linked the laptop to my Sony LCD TV via HDMI, no problem. I have a (Acer, 24-inch) LCD monitor that has a HDMI port also. I used it to play ps3 and xbox360 via HDMI connection, no problem. I have two lines HDMI 1.3. The two lines are working without any problems.

However, when I connect my laptop to my LCD Acer just external LCD monitor can t work properly. I can barely see what is display on the monitor, very snowy. It's hard to describe. I took a photo but don't know where to download it here.

I tried both HDMI lines, but both failed. I tried to change a few settings in the laptop, but nothing makes any difference. I'm looking for the driver for video card on the Web from Toshiba website and found that my current license is updated.

    Hey,.

If you connect your laptop to external monitor and press the FN + F5 key combination what happens exactly? Pressing the FN + F5 key combination shows different options and you should test with external monitor only (not the clone image). If you work on external monitor doesn't do this work?

In addition, you must connect the devices before starting their.

Also, take a look in the BIOS and try to load the default settings. Make sure that that the HDMI cable is connected before starting Windows and check the status again.

By the way: what operating system are you using exactly?

  • Satellite Pro U200 - external VGA monitor shows no output

I bought this unit, such as used on ebay. It works fine except that the external VGA connection does not work. I'm on win 7 and I it does not recognize the external display properly and I can set it up as an expanded view. However the external display shows nothing. The external VGA display is fine because it works with other machines to laptop. I tried to use UBUNTU Live CD on this machine and tried to do the work of the external screen (and it also can recongize the external display and configure it) but there is no picture. I also connected the screen external vga port and then rebooted the machine, but still no picture. I tried to change the settings in the bios for both display, but all my actions point to a hardware failure.

I don't know if it's a manufacturing defect? Do you know if this problem has been reported earlier for you. Y at - it a recall issued for this?
Please advise I need to connect this external screen but am sure it's a fault of equipment with your device.

    Hey Buddy,

Have you tried it with the factory settings? I mean the Windows preinstalled from Toshiba with all drivers and tools. If you have the Toshiba Recovery disk you boot from that disk and install Windows with all the drivers and tools.

In addition, you can switch between internal and external monitor by using the FN + F5 key combination. It work?

The laptop screen & another external LCD screen that I connect to the VGA output.

What should I do? Please help me.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hello

The laptop supports a HDMI port and a VGA (RGB) output port.
If you are using VGA output port, then he must connect the two machines (laptop and external monitor) using a VGA cable like this:
    [VGA cable | http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/81/Vga-cable.jpg]

After that, it takes to put on the external screen, press FN + F5.
Notes; you have to press FN + F5 until the monitor screen and the external laptop would be chosen.

  • Connect the second VGA monitor to Pavilion HPE

    Hello

I have a Pavilion HPE h8-1114 PC, that has a DVI and HDMI monitor port. I have a VGA monitor connected to the DVI port with an adapter. I have a second VGA monitor, I want to connect, but I understand that it cannot be connected to the HDMI port. Are there other options besides buying a HDMI monitor? Can I use one of the covered ports which I think is VGA? (I guess not.) Can I add a second graphics card with a VGA port and use both screens? (I saw on another post that adding another graphics card could disable the existing card). Can I opt for a card that supports two VGA or DVI ports?

    Thank you!

In addition what erico said, there are other options. You can use a video-to-USB adapter of EVGA UV plus + 19 or you can add a x 1 PCIe graphics card. If with a PCIe x 1, using a card Nvidia... results will be the best in this way.

  • Connect DVP8 to VGA monitor

    Hi people,

I know there is a lot of info out there, but most does not apply to my situation.

Is it possible to connect my compressed DVP8 wire to my VGA monitor?

If so, can you please tell me what I need to buy to do this and how I would make the connection to make it work. Sound is not important.

    Thank you!

Plug a microUSB adapter and then the DVP8 connect to the displaylink adapter. Download the displaylink drivers and the monitor then plug the displaylink adapter. If you want to load the DVP8 when you are connected to the monitor get the dongle from dell.

  • HP Pavilion HPE h8-1032 desktop PC NEW... try to connect my w/VGA monitor

and it's not like the previous post, it IS a VGA port, but it is covered and says "do not remove". So we released the cover and the connected monitor, but it does not work. (I know I know it says DO NOT DELETE ) What is the problem? Do I have to just buy a converter plug? Why the VGA doesn't work?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hello

The case is that the VGA port is disabled by the bios when there's a video card is installed. It's one or the other but not both.  Ports are covered by HP to avoid confusion, where the label DO NOT REMOVE.

If you have the Radeon HD 6670 then to connect a VGA monitor you will need to use an adapter DVI to VGA.  Review the information under graphic Video.

I don't know what monitor you use but if you have a HDMI or DVI connection on the monitor, then use the appropriate digital cable.

  • Monochrome external VGA monitor

I had a monitor configuration 2 x 27 "since I got my laptop about a year ago. A monitor is connected via Displayport, it via VGA. I leave the lid of my W520 closed so I use the two external monitors. Today, I've had my laptop dropped out of my workstation and now when I try to hook it up once again the screen is connected via VGA appears black and white.

Here is what I have all my my laptop got since the monitors:

    1) has had to work as usual (he has no fall or something like that so I don't think it would have been physically damaged)

    (2) installed a new battery (just arrived today, original Lenovo)

Here's what I tried to get the problem resolved:

    1) update both integrated and Quadro 1000 M drivers

    (2) switch monitors (one connected via VGA is B & W)

    (3) switched to a new VGA cable

    (4) restarted my PC several times

    (5) tinkered around with the settings under "Screen Resolution".

    (6) checked VGA port - aesthetically it looks like there still (no damage or something like that)

Switched 7) back to the old battery and tried again

Please help me! I wouldn't take my computer to a specialist of the material because I am just out of warranty and I can't really afford a professional maintenance. Since I'm sure that nothing has been damaged physically, what other software fixes I could try?

    Thanks in advance!

Check driver under color settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel. He could have saturation set to zero.

  • Windows does not start correctly when some multiple connection for external hard drive USB hubs are connected

When starting, I have 2 USB hubs that connect to multiple external HD.

If I disconnect the hubs, windows always starts very well.

If I connect the HUB, windows delayed considerably the boot (approximately 5 to 10 minutes) and sometimes restarts the PC before getting to the screen of windows login, and after that the Windows logo is displayed during the start-up phase.

Some HD sometimes take to start I hear but why Windows is restarted and all simply just do not excluding the HD or hubs does not not as expected?

    Any clue?

    Hello Patrick,.

If other devices are working well, then clearly the USB ports have gone very well. I would say more that likely you have two defective USB Hub (it happens, I have several other defective in my junk mail boxes!).

Given that the hubs are relatively expensive, I suggest you replace the two hubs with more heavy duty those able to withstand the high external HARD disk requirements. Try Newegg.com and TigerDirect.com, sort by best rating.

The other thing, you don't mention if your hubs / ports are ports USB 3.0 and if you use a card like the adapter link. These configurations can sometimes cause problems, and it might be useful to re - check the different connections.

    Keep me posted.

And thanks a lot for this.

    Kind regards

My iohone5 do not brand Jabra headset connect Bluetooth. It detects it well.

can some body advise how to solve this problem?

You need to put the headset in pairing mode. And if the lookup table is full, you may need to do a factory reset on it all first. Time to get out the manual for the headset.

  • Pavilion a6700y: connection for external antenna

I managed to disconnect the external antenna adapter cable wireless when cleaning the computer.

It seems that there may be two possible locations to reconnect the wire (it looks like a big boost on the connector at the end of the antenna) to the adapter.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hello:

There's probably a hand and an outlet to the.

Here is a picture of the map on your PC support page.

Watch orientation and copy what you see here, would be the only suggestion I can offer, or closer to it and terminals can be labeled on the circuit board.

With a single antenna, you want to connect to the main terminal.

  • F9M14UA #ABA: TS Envy 17 - actual resolution subscribed not configured for external TV monitor

    Answered my own question.

With TV 4K as extended display by dragging the windows back, I could see more clearly what was going on.  I was on the right track, just not familiar with the scale display ("size of the text, applications and other elements,") apparently presented with Windows 8.1.  The problem is that Windows uses a scale factor (150% in the case of the TV 1080 p, 300% with the 4 K TV), different from what has been configured in settings: 100%.

Change it to 200%, logout and back, then put at 100% (and reconsignation once again,) solved the problem.
