Connection problems. Firefox is the only program that can connect to the internet, all other programs fail. Windows 7 upgrade

Hello

I've recently updated to Windows Vista 64-bit for Windows 7 64 bit.  After the upgrade, I noticed that Firefox is the only program that allows me to connect to the internet and surf the web.  Windows updates not connecting not (error 80072EFD) and any other program that tries to connect to the internet fails.  Also, when I install the updates to Firefox, Firefox is no longer will connect; I have to do a system restore to an hour before the updates of Firefox in order to get online.  I searched the web relentlessly trying to identify the problem and tried the steps recommended on these sites: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-7/windows-7-cannot-connect-to-internet/ and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itprovistaie/thread/8777663d-013c-47b8-b11a-0e890612b533 and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/32593406-f0af-449d-9cfd-3be3827fbf30

  • I have a problem connecting to the internet. When I click on the internet it goes straight to windows media player

Hi I have a problem connecting to the internet. When I click on the internet it goes straight to windows media player.

    HI Maria,

If you are using Vista, go to http://www.mydigitallife.info/2008/06/22/reset-and-fix-broken-windows-vista-file-ext-and-type-associations-include-exe-com-sys-zip-lnk-folder-drive/ and scroll down to EXE and click or double-click it to run the program to restore EXE file associations.  Once done, do the same for LNK entry.  This should restore your programs and get the Internet icon to go to the internet rather than WMP.  If you use Windows 7, go to http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html. If you are using XP, go to http://www.dougknox.com/xp/file_assoc.htm.

If this does not work and it started recently, try a system restore to a restore point BEFORE the problem started.  If you use Windows 7, see:http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/700-system-restore.html. If you are using Vista, see:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/using-windows-vista-system-restore/. If you are using XP, see:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial56.html.  If the first attempt fails, try an earlier point or two because the problem may have started before you noticed.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • XP Pro ~ not connect to the internet and try to install Windows 8, CD player does not work with discs of 32 or 64.

I have Windows XP Professional as the operating system.

The computer used to be connected to our network of offices. My wife brought her home computer, and to my knowledge because the computer was not connected to this network for several months, there is a security problem that will not allow it to connect to the internet. To connect to the router, it will not provide access to the internet.
The computer sat for several months, as it was useless to do not be able to connect to the internet.
We bought Windows 8 as a solution to overcome this problem we are not computer scientists.
We strive to use the disc drive is a Sony CD - RW disc. It works fine with any disc in there BUT NOT disks of 32 or 64-bit.
The disc of going just in and nothing else, I can load it, cannot Explorer, nothing. It's like nothing is there.
Any help would be huge, 1) either you connect back or 2) get the installation to work.
I wanted to make a clear 100% boot, but I do know and am confused about ISO / ZIP bootdisk stuff with no internet connect.

I have to disable firewall to connect to the Internet. Also pop-up windows to make a dial-up connection, but we have a 2 connection wires to broadband?

    Help!

    Hi Barry,.

MSE is not the cause.  I suspect two things.  One, some ports in the firewall must be enabled to access the internet (your ISP should be able to tell) or you use a wrong port which is not activated, while the is correct.

Second, you set up like a dial instead of a connection to the local network through the router (which must also be configured and secured if there is no wireless capability), and then the LAN must be connected to the internet.  Essentially, your network configuration is incorrect and must be corrected.  As a general rule, all you need to do is contact your ISP technical support and if you walk through the process over the phone.

That's how I would handle it because even the experts here is perhaps not able to determine the appropriate settings for your ISP gave your versions of Windows and brands of routers and modems (and everything that needs to be connected).  They lose your business if you can't connect, and they have people who simply as for a life - often 24/7 - they are generally useful and really good in this.

If that doesn't work (and I bet than that), and so that I could take you through it here in general with more information about your hardware, OS, ISP and other, this is the wrong forum for this.  You start here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/networking?page=1&tab=all&tm=1300700638376.  Near the top, select your operating system from the drop-down menu to access the appropriate forum for your system.  Then post here like you did here, but give them all the details (manufacturer, brand and model of computer, network equipment, your exact version of Windows, what browser you are using and your network configuration).

    Good luck

  • Problem to create the Internet connection sharing between Windows XP and Windows Vista.

Original title: Internet connection sharing between Windows XP and Windows Vista.

    Hello

Recently, I plugged a laptop running Windows XP to a desktop computer running Windows Vista using a standard Ethernet cable with the intention of use sharing of Internet connection. The notebook contains a wireless connection that I've routed to the office via the cable said.  While the initial phase of installation went well (I was too lazy to do it manually, so I just used the Wizard "Set up a home or small business network" Windows XP,) I had to turn off the host computer to install a program. When I tried to set up ICS again, I couldn't connect to the Internet by using ICS. After this failure, I tried to configure the properties of TC/IPv4 (IP, gateway by default, etc.) manually, but I still couldn't run.  I am able to access the shared host PC and client files. It seems to me that some service essential to the proper functioning of the ICS may be disabled in some way, but it's just speculation, as I have no evidence of such a service. Help would be most appreciated.

    Thank you

    FG-man

I tried this before using a laptop to share internet with my 360.  problem is there was Nat on the router, and it is in contradiction with the ics.

Anyway long story short I did some research on the Internet and discovered that if you're behind a router ICS will be confllict with her, as ICS also does routing. a much better option is to "bridge the conections ' on the laptop.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/hnw_bridge_install.mspx?mfr=true

If you go this route, you need to set a static ip address for the office,

Either that or if you want to continue using ICS put the laptop in the DMZ in the router may help, but it will be less secure.

Hope that this helped good luck

  • problems to make the internet connection on computer starts

That's my problem... I turn on my laptop, no internet, I have to click on the Start button go to administrative tools, open services find wirless zero configuration and turn it on. then close all windows. I go to the blue toolbar at the bottom of the screen and then click the only Wi - Fi computer, open it, find the check box "use windows to configure the network settings" click this box close this window. Then, I have internet. Anyone know what is happening?

    Hi jmsmom2007,

1 when was the last time it was working fine?

    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    3. have you anythird party network or Wireless Manager software installed on the computer?

If you have any third-party network or Manager software installed on the computer wireless, I would say that you uninstall and check if the problem persists.

If you don't have such software installed then I would suggest that you perform the clean boot procedure and check if it works.

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista or Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.

How to configure Windows XP to start in a "clean boot" State

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310353

Also, make sure that the wireless zero configuration service is enabled when you follow the steps in the clean boot procedure.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

    (c) under the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.

    (d) when you are prompted to restart the computer, click on restart.

  • Problem: Error 633: the modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured correctly.

While I am connected to internet using Reliance Netconnect Huawei 1260, the connection disconnects after 10 to 15 minutes. Shows as connected Netconnect but does not work. I try to disconnect the connection, but it gives an error.

Reconnect to always remove the modem and then re - login again.

Please provede me a permanent solution to this. I use Windows 7 Enterprise

    Hello

    1. If it works well before?

    2. what version of Modem drivers do you use? Do you have any other device connected to the computer?

First of all, I suggest you to check if the modem is compatible with Windows 7.

    Check out the link:

    Windows 7 Compatibility Center:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

I would also recommend to connect the modem to a different computer and check if it detects there. If it does not work on another computer also, then the problem is with the modem and I would ask you to contact the manufacturer of the modem for any further assistance.

Error 633 indicates that the port is already in use or is not configured for remote access dial out. You may need to check if the VPN and the connection connection try to use the same port that is causing the problem. You may need to check the settings of the modem and change the port for your needs.

To work around this problem, use one of the following methods:

    Method 1:

Reserves explicitly the TCP port that is used for the VPN connection. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run, type regedit.exe in the Open box and then click OK.

    b. in the registry editor, find and then click the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters

    (c) in the Edit menu, point tonewand then click multi-string value.

    d. rename the multi-string value as 'ReservedPorts' and then double-clickReservedPorts.

    e. in the value data box, type1723-1723, and then click OK.

    f. exit the registry editor.

Registry warning: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756/

    .

    Method 2:

Use the netstat command to find the program that is using port 1723. Then, end the process for this program. To do this, follow these steps:

    a. click Start, click run, type cmd.exe in the Open box and then click OK.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

    NETSTAT - aon

    c. in the result which appears, identify the process ID for the program, if any, who is using the TCP port 1723.

    d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:taskkill/pid PID/f

Note: The taskkill command terminates the process that corresponds to the ID of the process. The/F option is used forcefully to complete the process.

    e. at the command prompt, typeexitand press ENTER to quit the command prompt.

Restart your computer. This may cause the program that uses the TCP 1723 port to use a different port.

    I hope that helps!

  • The myfitnesspal website is most compatible with you? It will not connect, but works with all other browsers. I did help out. Did not work.

Yesterday, I had problems with the Myfitnesspal.comwebsite. I have a tab set to open automatically when I start the browser every day. I could not connect any information in the site, so I tried a log off and log in. It doesn't let me log on to the site. I contacted, myfitnesspal and we worked through many steps in troubleshooting. I also tried all the steps of troubleshooting your site. I even made a full stop and start my computer. Nothing has solved this problem. I had the same problem with a couple of store that I like to go. The shop site work finally after more than six months of frustration. Myfitnesspal works on all other browsers. So with everything which has been tried and done, the problem seems to be your side somewhere. I'm running Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

I really hope that this could be solved because the site appears better on your browser. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email.

Thank you for what you can do about it, and for your time.

    Hello.

I used to have this problem with Firefox only for some time. I was frustrated beyond. MyFitnessPal is 100% compatible with Firefox, however, some extension (type of) can cause significant headaches. I hope that this fix also helps.

Do you by chance the https everywhere extension installed? It's a great add-on and I strongly recommend using it, however, unless you "disable" its use with MyFitnessPal, you will not be able to connect to your account, add food, weight update, see graphics, etc..

So don't panic. Your question is likely to be what I had as well. I just went in the https everywhere extension and where it says "MyFitnessPal" with a checkmark (saying it is ACTIVE for the site), I simply clicked to disable the add-on for a site.

Simple and it works instantly. I hope it does for you too! If you do not have this add-on so it is probably related to some thing similar so good luck to you!

  • Computer with Vista unable to connect to the internet through two computers with Windows 7.

    Dear engineers,

In our House, we have two new computers Windows 7 connect to Wired internet access.  Our friend came in hoping to play some MMO games with us on our connection (it has windows vista).  When we hung everything upward, by linking to our modem, his computer was visible on my husbands computer, but was visible on mine as a media device.  He could see the two computers, but could not get an internet connection and no viable ping.  We checked the network map and he showed my computer with one? related to my husband then connected to the internet.  Inside, there was an announcement indicating that the following devices are not displayed in the network map.  under of course was listed both our friends media device and the computer device.  I searched Control Panel and gave access to anyone on the login to my husbands system as long as me.  What happens if nothing else can I try to have its system you can connect to our internet?

    Thank you for your attention,

    Cerisea

    Hello

If a computer is not properly visible it generally means that sharing is not set correctly to match your system.

You must also set your computers with the computer account of the friend as a user on your computer.

Everyone does not mean everyone wishing to connect.

If the accounts are presented only for John, Jill and Jack, setting in the folder with all permissions saves the effort of definition permission separately for John, Jill and Jack.

Everyone isn't everyone group, only John, Jill and Jack.

    In general.

Win7 when configured on the peer-to-peer network has three types of configurations of sharing.

Group residential network = only works between Win 7 computers. This type of configuration, it is very easy to entry level users to start sharing network.

Working network = fundamentally similar to previous methods of sharing that allow you to control what, how and to whom the records would be shared with.

    Public share
= network Public (as Internet Café) in order to reduce security risks.

For the best newspaper of the results of each computer screen system and together all computers on a network of the same name, while each computer has its own unique name.

    http://www.ezlan.NET/Win7/net_name.jpg

Make sure that the software firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall on, Vista/XP Firewall Native should be disabled, and the active firewall has adjusted to your network numbers IP on what is sometimes called the Zone of confidence (see part 3 firewall instructions

    General example, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#trusted
Please note that some 3rd party software firewall continue to block the same aspects it traffic Local, they are turned Off (disabled). If possible, configure the firewall correctly or completely uninstall to allow a clean flow of local network traffic. If the 3rd party software is uninstalled, or disables, make sure Windows native firewall is active .

Win 7 networking with other version of Windows as a work network.

In the center of the network, by clicking on the type of network opens the window to the right.

Choose your network type. Note the check box at the bottom and check/uncheck depending on your needs.

When you have finished the configuration of the system, it is recommended to restart everything the router and all computers involved.

If you have authorization and security problems, check the following settings.

Point to a folder that wants to share do right click and choose Properties.

    In the properties

Click on the Security tab shown in the bellows of the photo on the right) and verify that users and their permissions (see photo below Centre and left) are configured correctly. Then do the same for the authorization tab.

This screen shot is to Win 7, Vista menus are similar.

The Security Panel and the authorization Panel, you need to highlight each user/group and consider that the authorization controls are verified correctly.

When everything is OK, restart the network (router and computer).

    * Note . The groups and users listed in the screen-shoot are just an example. Your list will focus on how your system is configured.

    * Note . There must be specific users. All means all users who already have an account now as users. This does not mean everyone who feel they would like to connect.
