  • disk failure hard compaq presario cq62-231nr

My compaq presario cq62-231nr (product # XC434UA #aba) stopped working last week and I took it into the store of the computer it is diagnosed. They said that the hard drive has failed and they were unable to get all the files out of it. They wanted about $200 to fix so I just brought home. I bought a hard drive to it (500 GB hitachi) and when I install it myself. I have 4 dvd recovery disks that I made for her when I bought it there are 1 1/2 years. Never done this before so I am a little worried about smooth how it will go. My questions are:

    1-will the recovery discs works

2 - 500 GB hard drive will I put actually no difference from the old hard drive was a 320 GB

3 - What steps should I take after I put my hard drive in and start it (insofar as the use of the recovery discs)?

4 - I need a key at any time in this process? I don't have one that I know of.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Hey, Dan:

    You are the very welcome.

    You have almost...

When you turn on your PC for the first time after installing the new hard drive, you must press the F9 key to the HP welcome screen.

This will give you a few startup options.  Your DVD player should appear as one of these options.

Don't do anything about the selection who again. First, open the DVD drawer and insert the diskette 1 of your set of recovery disks. Close the door and wait a moment – just a few seconds.

Then select the DVD - ROM drive in the list of the bootable devices in the list of startup options.

Follow the instructions on the screen.

You never know how long will last the electrical components.  This is why it is always advisable to keep the backup files.

There's an old saying... "It is not a question of if a hard drive will fail, but a matter of time."

  • How can I install Windows XP on windows 7 laptop Compaq Presario CQ62-215DX?

I want to install XP on my laptop (laptop Compaq Presario CQ62-215DX) which has Windows 7... give me some advice please

You replace the startup disk in the BIOS cd. Then boot from the XP CD. And press a button when it tells you. However, he will wipe away Windows 7. So, if you want anything copy everything you want (with the exception of programs), before formatting the hard disk.

NOTE: XP has no drivers for most of whats on the system (LAN/Sound/player card etc.). So if that is the only computer you have, go to HP site for this laptop search, download drivers and copy them into something. Before you begin. Or you won't get back on the internet...

Also NOTE: If the disk hard in it is SATA, you will need to disable the AHCI in the BIOS (change it to IDE mode). Or XP will crash before you get to the configuration screen. Unless you download the SATA drivers, unzip / extract and add them when it says press F6 (on a floppy disk).

The XP CD does not have SATA drivers on it either. If you do not add the SATA drivers during installation, do not change this back to AHCI after installing XP. Or it will crash

In addition, make sure that you have a XP key. A key to windows 7 will not work

  • Compaq presario cq62 available memory problem

HAV CQ62 with 32-bit amd processor windows 7. OK came with 4gig RAM.  SYSTEM to CHECK that this gives 4gig ram and the RAM available media 2.99gig. OK so update the 8gig Ram to run faster, but it always has in the area of the SYSTEM memory available is stil 2.99gig. Check the resource monitor and it is much too hardware reserved RAM greater than 5, 000mbites. Don't put the bios to F036 more later still no joy... So makes no difference if ram increass or decrease the maximum value available for use is still not more not less 2.99gig. How can I get this laptop to use more ram. Just won't happen and even went in the bios before and after upgrade it and problem still HAV run out of solutions, tried to change things in bios and tried mapping for ram, but this laptop can not find in the bios like in the series c700... must be a way easier to solve the problem and just ridiculous amount of ram reserved for material that cannot change. I have another laptop cq62 series processor is intel 64-bit win 7 and set at the same level system size of ram and it works well and only left 300 MB of ram reserved for strange material... I even swapped the sims that laptop and put in the earlier one and by the way the 4gig memory probs cq62 model is cq62-115tx single horn well resource monitor Ok AMD PROCESSOR has these numbers:-MATERIAL reserved 5131MB, in COURSE OF USE 1143 MB, updated THE 81 MB, STANBY 923 MB, 913 MB FREE and summarized the AVAILABLE States 1836 MB down caching 101MB, MO 36061 TOTAL, 8192 MB INSTALLED... SO if modified installed 4192 mb or 4gig ratio breaks down, but the MATERIAL RESERVE remains the same... OK if I PUT on 2GIG SIM in the phone starts not at all no matter what so help dilemma Please guys

As long as you have a Windows license key for typing in the prompt, it should work.

If the PC supports the 64-bit installation disk at startup I'm sure that all of the internal components will have 64-bit drivers.  Plug in the main series is the processor. If it is not 64-bit, you can go no further.

You cannot run the disk 64-bit from the desktop. You will have to boot from it.

  • HP Compaq Presario CQ62 blank display, solid caps lock light light orange, solid f12

    Good afternoon

Currently, I'm stumped on troubleshooting lights error code for a hp compaq cq62 customers. I tried the hard reset, the reinstallation of the memory and even plug the laptop directly into the wall instead of a surge protector with battery removed. I can't find any solution on the HP site or any other site of forum for this issue as to what a solid caps lock light and a solid orange light on the f12 key.

Currently I think the customer may need a new back light system or a new processor. Before to come to this conclusion, I hope that there is a clear solution for my problem. Thank you for any assistance.

    Hello @NotURt3kSupport ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand you are having problems starting your PC clients laptop Compaq CQ62.

A single glance on the caps lock light usually means it is a failure of the CPU and requires a replacement of CPU or the motherboard.

Also try to go through these documents to resolve startup problems:

Computer does not start and the lights blink or the computer will beep.
Troubleshooting of the black screens with no start-up or start-up error message.
Tests of hardware failures (Windows 7, Vista) or hardware failures (Windows 8).

You can tell if the backlight is the issue or start by plugging in a VGA monitor to see if the screen is displayed or not. If this is the case, you have on the laptop display problems. If it isn't, you're dealing with a problem of CPU, GPU or motherboard.

Also, it would be useful to know what product and the operating system you are using. For more information on the search for your model and product numbers, click here: How can I find my model number or product number? What version of Windows you are using, click here: Windows operating system am I running?

In the event of hardware failure I suggest you contact the services options HP telephone support. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.

  • CQ62-209wm: CQ62-209wm turns on but does not rest on the black screen

This same question was asked in 2013 but was never answered. The proposed answer was to run diagnostics on the hard drive and memory. My laptop has exactly the same problem and I have the tests. Everything going smoothly. I finally decided that the video was out so I had a bad mother. Well, I ordered a new card mother and new battery new memory. I pulled the heat sinks cleaned the CPU, cleaned the fan and cooling fins, and then replace all. Guess what people, it is still the same as before with these new rooms. No beep codes are generated, without sounds, etc. What happens is the caps lock light flashes approximately every 3 seconds and the WiFi symbol stays orange. He never blinks. I found the light accidentally code page, but there is no reason to corosponding between codes of light and the flashing cap lock key. It will just sit there and blink as long as you leave it or until the battery going dead comes first. This same problem has been around since I found a multitude of messages about this and this is not only a model. Forums in the world have this posted on them.

So how about it HP engineers. Is there anyone of you ready to take on this problem and tell us how to solve this problem once and for all? I'm tired of having a computer that works only when it wants too. I want both of my laptops CQ62-209wm to work. I am able to get laptops to start completely about 35% of the time. In order to make their work I remove the battery, plug in the power supply, replace the battery and then try to start it. Sometimes it works most of the time, this isn't. I'm starting to suspect a possible in the power circuit problem, because it is the first laptop I've ever used or owned not illuminate if there is no battery installed.

I brought your question to the attention of a team within HP. They are likely to ask for information from you to get your information or product serial number. Please search for a private message from a contact HP identified. Also, remember not to publicly post information and series numbers.

I recently had a disk failure hard and bought a seagate 500 GB 5400 disc to replace the disk of 320 GB 5400

has ran the bios diagnostics and recovery disk diag too. all the past. It also has the BIOS current rev.

Would be to put Linux on, if it was not the wife. Any help to get out me of the dog house is appreciated.

    Hello

    Your listing: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02800846

I think that the recovery disks is bad or corrupt.
If you like, order a media recovery directly from HP:
    https://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/mediaOrder?softwareitem=630259-001&cc=us&DLC=en&LC=en&OS=4063&product=5101367&sw_lang=

Alternatively, you can make bootable USB with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ISO & do a clean install:

    http://MSFT.digitalrivercontent.NET/win/X17-58997.ISO
    Windows 7 Home Premium x 64 English
    Size: 3 243, 070 KB, MD5 hash: da319b5826162829c436306bebea7f0f

Note: THIS METHOD MAY WORK only if YOU CAN CLEARLY & LISIBLEMENT READ 25 CHARACTERS OF the KEY ACTIVATION of PRODUCT PRINTED ON COA STICKER at the BACK OF the laptop.

Download, save the latest versions of the drivers & copy it into another USB and install it later after the installation of Windows:

  • Failed to retrieve the HP CQ62 xa500ua

I have the same problem with this product HP CQ62 xa500ua #aba.

Went to restore my mother in laws at the factory laptop using the hard drive but has error 'oXeoeF00003' compensation after 15%, the recovery DVD had been created so I tried these and got the system error recovery media does not suppor this computer.

She is one of the few people I know who created the recovery discs as soon as she got the computer.

The system was up, but the disc is scratched the partial recovery.  I suspect that the recovery image was not valid from the factory. Now what?

Note: run all diagnostics hardware and everything going on.

    AMD Athlon II P320

    BIOS F.0UNE

    Windows 7 Home 64

Called better support they could do was to offer a "Free" recovery disc that cost $25 port and handling.

They suggested updating the BIOS and and try recover, but I need some kind of boot disk to run the Bios Update.

    Hello

I doubt that it is a bios problem despite that HP may have suggested, but it could well be a problem with the media / the recovery process - here is another solution, you can try.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the good Disk Image ( must be the same version that initially provided with the laptop - IE Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a well respected source, however there are only limited versions available.

    Windows 7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

All pilots additional and the software, you may need can be found here.

  • my product key is no longer visible to windows 7 and I need!

I have installed the preview of windows 8 and want to go back to my previous version which is windows 7 and it has been already installed I don't have a cd for it and the product key is not visible on the bottom of my laptop.

Is the brand of my laptop: Hp Compaq Presario CQ62

My software is: Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Premium edition, but for now is Windows 8 Preview of consumer

Just download free generic ISO of Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium & install & update drivers according to the needs of HP driver support downloads then visit this thread to solve the activation.

    2 benefits:

1 > no fees & no waiting for recovery media

2 > cleaner, faster more up-to-date install, much better than the installation of bloated HP & next to the installation of recovery default needless waste of hard drive space...

  • How to turn off the function keys on my laptop?

IM using a compaq presario CQ62, windows 7.

On my laptop each function key does something different, F1 for help, F2 to adjust the brightness of the screen, even for the F3, F4 Opens a dvd I watch the program, etc.

On an online game I play is a NECESSITY for these keys back, his increasingly frustrating growth, someone please help!

Windows does not control it, the computer manufacturer does.  Reference Dell calls this QuickSet, Compaq has its own brand of control software.  In some cases, the computer manufacturer has quite enough to add a plug-in to the Mobile centre that allows you to customize it.  To see if your computer manufacturer has been so well thought, press Windows-X to start the Mobile Center.

If there's nothing here, other places to watch where the manufacturer may have added controls is the keyboard control panel, or believe it or not, sometimes the mouse control panel.
