CRIO Ethernet port 'blocks', error 42

The problem relates to this post and could even be the same:

http://forums.NI.com/NI/board/message?board.ID=170&thread.ID=345733

It took me a while to understand what was going on. Even had a network Analyzer to monitor network traffic. I am now able to reproduce this problem in a very simple way. I have a 'connection.vi open TCP"immediately followed by a"TCP close connection.vi ". There are a few additional shared variables to monitor the status of the TCP open and close of vi. I have run this program in a loop of 100 ms timed.

I run the program on the controller. I unplug the network cable, wait 5 seconds, reconnect the cable and voila. It is not possible to ping the controller or connect through the Project Explorer. However, shared variables are still alive and through an application that is running on my pc, I can see that the "TCP open connection.vi" an error 42. In fact, any TCP vi generates this error.

Compact rio is not able to recover from this problem. The only way I know is to restart the crio in Project Explorer or MAX or do it manually. It is a big problem since we have 15 Crio which are supposed to operate 24/7 and which is only of streaming data is through TCP.

Is there another way to recover from this problem? Is it possible the verification of the "readynes" of the ethernet hardware to prevent something like this?

Controller: 9014

Network: use DHCP

stop the TCP/IP system who fail = false.

The solution:

Do not place all TCP/IP functions inside while a timed loop. Instead use a normal life while loop and a ms.vi wait make the schedule. This seems to do the trick.

Thank you, Maurice

  • UDP communication via secondary ethernet port on the cRIO-9074 problem.

    Hi guys.

I connected my host pc running LV 2010 my cRIO-9074 port using a main ethernet crossover cable. I want to use the second port ethernet on the cRIO-9074 to read UDP messages, and I want to access these messages on my host. UDP messages are sent from a local network, but for testing I also use a second pc running LV 2010 to send UDP messages.

I configured the ethernet on the cRIO-9074 ports according to this tutorial: "knowledge base 4E0DGASK: Configure the Ports of double Ethernet on real-time controllers'." " My host and primary ethernet port belong to 'Subnet A' while the second port and the second computer, sending UDP messages belong to 'Subnet B' (at the end of my post I will list the masks of ip addresses and the subnet).

For simplicity, I used the VI´s of this example as a basis for UDP communication. The "UDPServerOnRemoteTarget.vi", which broadcast messages UDP, will run on the secondary computer. The "UDPClientOnRemoteTarget.vi", which reads messages UDP, will work on my host pc.

Now, in the 'UDPServerOnRemoteTarget' VI, you must specify two IP addresses (port # remained unchanged at 3363):

1: the IP address of the ethernet port that will be broadcast UDP messages.

2: the IP address of the ethernet port that will receive the messages.

In the #1 case I put the IP address to the IP address of the ethernet on the secondary pc port.

At the #2 I tried to set the intellectual property: a) IP address of the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO, b) IP address of the ethernet on my host computer port and c) IP address of the primary ethernet port on the cRIO.

None of the parameters produced results. I also tried to change the port number, which did not help.

However, if I bypass the cRIO and connect the host pc and the secondary computer directly (by using a cable crossed a regular cat5 ethernet cable), I am able to send and receive UDP messages (the two stand-alone always are on different subnets). I guess that this at least excludes any fault in the VI´s code.

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? Is it possible at all to read the UDP messages that are sent to the secondary ethernet port on the cRIO my host pc?

I have searched the entire site OR and forums, but didn't come through all that solved my problem. Most of the other tutorials configuration resembling my case is to import the device sends UDP messages in the project, but which is clearly not possible in my case, or is it?

    My IP settings are:

    cRIO 9074:

    Primary ethernet port: 169.254.62.215

    Secondary ethernet port: 192.168.0.102 (static)

    Host PC: 169.254.58.4

    Secondary PC: 192.168.0.144 (static)

SubnetMask on all ports are the value 255.255.0.0

I hope someone out there can help me out.

    Kind regards

    Phat

    Solved.

Stupid mistake. I was running the VI on the host instead of the cRIO pc, which explains why direct communication between the computers worked. Everything works well when it is compiled for the cRIO.

Hi, I bought an OfficeJet 6500 has more around a year ago and have been using it with variable success using wireless internet. I thought that it might help to connect using wired ethernet, but I just discovered that the ethernet port is blocked by a yellow card.

  • Nexus 7009 does not show the N7K-F248XP-25 modules ethernet ports n sh run

    Hello world

    I have a question...

I'm going to install two Nexus 7009 with N7K-F248XP-25 three modules on each of them, I plan to create 3 VDC, but initial configuration, the system does not display the Ethernet ports of these modules, even with the inventory of show and show module that I can see that the modules are recognized and its status is OK. Is there something I need to do before you start to configure these modules...? allow some feature or the license in order to see the ports with show running CLI...?

You can activate the F1, F2, M1, M1XL, and M2XL series modules. There is no restriction on the type of mixture allowed for the order of module-type system. Control module-type system allows a mixture of F1, F2, M1, M1XL and M2XL series of modules in the VDC.

Note The module-type limit-resource command handles the restrictions on the types of module that can be mixed in the VDC.

Note Use the f2 type module-system command to allow the F2E series modules in a VDC. The ports of F2 and F2E series modules can be distributed as all other ports.

Note The modules that you do not select must not be powered on after you configure this feature and enter Yes. An error message will force you to manually disable these modules before you continue. You will avoid significant disruptions and problems of service within a VDC.

No form of this command resets the configuration mode to enable all modules.

  • Don't have no access switchport appears on the ASA 5505 ethernet port I am trying set up?

I've implemented Vlan1 to be named "inside" and there our internal IP address.  Vlan2 is outdoors and has proper external IP address.

Problem is for some reason that I can't assign Vlan1 to any ethernet port?

    Here's what it looks like:

    interface Ethernet0/0
    switchport access vlan 2
    !
    interface Ethernet0/1
    !

I even tried Ethernet0/2 and the same thing.  I run the command of ' switchport access vlan 1 "to the interface appropriately, it gives me no errors or funky indication nothing happens and boom, when I look at the config, you can see above it just appears.  No error or anything.

I'm completely new to this, so rather than continue to repeat this several times (which I did for about 30 minutes) I thought I'd ask.  It is a 'new' 5505 it was a refurb purchased by a client of mine, so I'm setting up from scratch more or less.  Don't understand why I can't assign vlan1.  If all goes well, there is a simple answer to this.

    Hello

VLAN 1 is the vlan by default. When you set up or leave the configuration on the interfaces by default, these interfaces will be associated to the vlan 1 but not shown in the config on the show see the race.

Then, your output is OK and normal you have no error.

    Thank you

  • Using the second ethernet port to connect to the printer?

Hi I have a Mac Pro 2.1 old school and I'm wondering if I can connect to the network with an ethernet port and connect the latter to a printer?

    If so, how?

    Yosemite running.

    Thank you

Physically, you use a port and a cable to connect to your network and use the second port and a second cable to connect directly to the printer. The printer must obviously have an interface Ethernet himself.

However, you need to configure the second port on the Mac and the Ethernet port on the printer for each manually configured the TCP/IP addresses and these should be in a range of different network to your main network.

If you the main network is something like 192.168.1.1 then your printer and the port on the Mac connection to this need to be in another network, such as 192.168.11.1.

In theory, if the printer supports Hello aka. mDNS, then maybe you can get away with not having to configure TCP/IP addresses for the connection.

The main reasons to use a second separate connection as this would be the performance or security, and frankly I don't think that's really relevant here. This would mean that no other computers on your network will be able to access the printer.

In addition, Apple Support recognizes that they broke the Ethernet Ports and suggest that if we:

"Kernel Extension Configuration Data incompatible Version 3.28.1" we can fix it by going to the command line entries.  However, this version is not on my computer. I have 3.28.2 since 29/02/16 and articles 3.30.1 06/04/16 and 17/04/16.

If the Ethernet on your Mac has stopped working recently - Apple supports

If you can connect to Wi - Fi, follow these steps to update to version 3.28.2

    1. Open the activity monitor, located in the Utilities folder of the Applications folder.
    2. Select the CPU tab in the activity monitor, and then type "up-to-date" in the search field. The process of softwareupdated should now be the only listed element.
    3. Open the Terminal application, which is also in your Utilities folder.
    4. Enter this command in a Terminal to upgrade to the current version of the extension of the "Incompatible Kernel Extension Configuration Data" kernel:

      sudo softwareupdate --background

    5. Enter the admin of your OS X user account password when prompted.
    6. Switch to the activity monitor. When using the processor (CPU %) of the process softwareupdated is reset, the extension of the core must be updated.
    7. Select restart in the Apple menu to reboot your Mac.

I prefer not to do that since I could break it's worse and I 3.28.2 and beyond.

  • Pavilion HP 11: ethernet port on hp pavilion 11 fried... solution... ?

    Hi all

new to the forum here and decided to join because I have a little problem with my laptop...

I did something stupid today. I tried to program a hitachi PLC with my laptop and accidentally hooked the ethernet cable to the port of evil on the controller (the port that would normally connect to a touchscreen / HMI) with the result that my port ethernet on my laptop got fried. After a few seconds smoke started coming on my laptop from under the keyboard so I quickly janked out cable ethernet. It's only there for a few seconds, but the damage was already done.

On the good side of things: everything seems to work OK again. WiFi still works. Only problem is that this laptop has a single ethernet port and I really need this port.

I took the cover but nothing obvious comes out. I know it's kind of a vague question to ask; but someone would have ideas on what could have broken and how to check what might be broken and what not?

I'm not very familiar with computers is passing, so forgive my lack of knowledge.

    Thanks in advance

A network card is not present, there is a wireless adapter.

Ultrabooks like yours with RJ-45 ports do not have separate wired adapters that can be replaced.

The NETWORK adapter is part of the motherboard and is not replaceable individually.

Given that yours was smoked checked there may be some damage of traces on the motherboard.

With the help of a mulitimeter won't help in any way. Even at big books in ancient times the NIC was part of the motherboard. A ultrabook is not a desktop computer. Motherboards same office have the network cards integrated into the chipset.

Replacing a motherboard, this is how your network port fried will have to be resolved. Otherwise, to avoid the cost of replacing the motherboard, use the USB cable card NETWORK adapter.

Under the guarantee, the induced lesions of the RJ-45 port owner is not covered. It's an excluded damage type.
