Crook

Be on the lookout for people using the identity of the American army officers in an attempt to scam the only women of their money. I received a request to contact a general Martin Dempsey. I was curious to know why an American army general would contact me. It turned out to be an impostor trying to get money. I didn't fall for it, but maybe another woman. Beware of military officers by contacting you. I was contacted by two army officers. I've blocked one, but played with each other for a while. He even sent me a number to call to get his son step off Ghana by sending the money of course. It turns out that there is a true general Martin Dempsey, but this guy is just using his identity and his picture. In fact, he called me and did not have an American accent, which would have an American general. They think American women are really stupid.

I have no idea, why is it so hard to have the option "Block friend requests" in Skype? Like 2-3 spam friend requests, I do every week. Its boring xxxxxxx and really makes me go away from Skype and of course, I'll have to ask my friends to install new alternatives, so we can discuss without blocking spammers once a day or two!

Actually, the answer is B.S. Before Microstupid bought Skype profiles could be put in private and the crooks could not access the info. Also I've never had this problem of applications unsolicited contact before MS succeeding Skype.

  • Crooked printing on the sheets

You just bought a printer wireless HP 6500 - swell, but...

It is printing crooked on the leaves. How to print with a correct alignment to calibrate?

I have the same printer, and it had begun printing crooked.  Here is how I got mine to act right

First, I checked the filter switch in the back.  I removed it and made sure I saw no paper anywhere (I had experienced several jams paper at this point ) and replaced, by ensuring, it was broken in place on both sides.

Then, I completed the alignment process.  Here are the steps:

    1) press the Setup button on the control panel of the machine (the one with the picture of a key to this topic)

    2) press the right arrow button until you reach "6. Tools '.

    3) press OK

    4) press the right arrow button until you reach "3. Align the printer.

    5) press OK

    The display shows:

Align cartridges...  Please wait.  This process will take about 7 minutes. »

After that the printer has completed the process, a page prints.  The screen will then show:

    Success

Alignment with success.  Recycle or discard the printed page.  Press OK to continue.

After that, my 6500 has worked like a dream.  I hope this helps someone!

Generally, this is caused by dirt on the rollers of the printer.  Follow the steps outlined in the document below to clean the printer rollers.  Let me know what happens.

  • Print text or Image is skewed or Crooked [c01627044]

RE: Printed text or Image is skewed or Crooked[c01627044]

3 steps checklist is perfect here, but a little more #4 would be good to add. #4 is that when the rear door of the paper feed rollers is not completely locked in place too what is causing this, symptom "printed text or Image is distorted or twisted' arise and is most likely the problem of what happens.

It is a simple but effective remedy which is one of those OMG it was right under my nose the whole time.

Thanks for the suggestion, you are right - check fit of the rear panel or duplexer must be one of the first things to check for problems of lag.  The page does not have a link to the report to the webmaster but I send your suggestion on.

I got a call from 011 800 4250272 claiming to be calling dell. I knew immediately it was a crook.  This person called my cell phone and had all the information on my laptop. I want to know if dell sells your information or dell had a hack and someone stole private information?

I don't know where to post this here is so as good a place as any.

Thank you contact us on the Dell Community Forum customer protection Office regarding unsolicited calls claiming to be from Dell Technical Support. This is currently a vast problem of the industry and affect other well-known companies, including Microsoft, Apple, and in a variation of this scheme, the IRS. We are actively investigating these reports and that it is easier when customers contact us. We have implemented a process allowing customers to report this type of technical support phone scam to https://marketing.dell.com/reportscams. • Crooks pretending to Support technical

Today, I received a call from phone number 800-519-0402-one man who spoke with an Indian accent and identified himself as "Derek Smith." It has provided a good Service Tag No. and an 'Express 'Code' a reminder, because I wasn't with my computer at the same time.  He informed that my computer was sending reports to Dell informing him that it was getting dangerous downloads and that I had to go through stages with him to ensure that downloads are stopped before "there is too much damage."

I filled the form of Dell to report the incident.  Thank you.

    Hi whritz3,

Thanks for posting and thanks for that bring to our attention.  I appreciate that you filled out the form and reported it to our fraud department so that we can these crooks closed.

  • M277dw MFP: scan off center and crooked M277dw MFP

I meet currently a problem with my Control Panel printer scans comes out off - center and crooked.  They scan the desktop app and get out normal.  In addition the copies come out straight and normal.  The scans are deployed from the flat bed scanner.  I tried the document feeder and still only posted the scans I made from the Panel of real control on the printer on my network.

    Hi @Richy1971,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I noticed that the scans are biased and crooked with your HP Laserjet M277dw MFP. I am pleased to see that for you!

Please try a hard reset by following the instructions contained in this message, How to perform a hard reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the power cable from the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector. Questions when it is connected to an uninterruptible power supply/Strip/surge protector power. This is true for printers and ink jet.

After the hard reset, check the printer firmware is up-to-date. Get the latest Firmware and updates.

  • 22/07/13 - caveat, 'ZIRCON SYSTEMS, TECH SUPPORT FOR WINDOWS' CROOK, USING THE PLOY of id # 888DCA60-FC0A-11CF-8F0F-00C04FD7D062

Last week, and now on the longest phone conversation with me this morning, Mon, 22/07/13, phone swindler wants to CHECK the ID NUMBER OF YOUR COMPUTER.  A 3rd call repeat 'husband' today, from "Steve Matthew," of "Zircon systems", where the staff is all "Microsoft Certified technicians".  Said our PC has been disconnected from the server "universal routing" and needed to check the identification number.  Said computer infected and disengaged, errors with malicious files.  That 50% of Microsoft applications does not.  Finally, after several questions polite but stupid me, as if to say but our computer works OK?  the appellant was told that he is temporarily hung up a temporary server! but it must be reconnected...  After having his name and telephone number - strongly Indian accented man "Steve Matthew" on the phone # 408-498-3608, and have patiently give me the 888DCA60 etc etc 32 numbers, he indicated that he understood my being suspicious, but it is a Microsoft Certified tech, calling for Windows, have we not Windows 7 or XP or Windows 8, etc.?    And he said I could not find the computer ID number easily, it wasn't on our guaranteed purchase paperwork, etc, that I would need to go online with him, to find our location.

Knowing that registrations for computers, go directly to the manufacturer only if you send the information on your purchase, and that no known iin manufacturer sends the modern world 'Oops, you're disconnected' phone calls, it seemed a bit of fun to keep to provide information...

So I explained to Mr. Steve, when he repeated for the 4th time that it has been certified Microsoft Tech and trustworthy and kept warning me that our computer would break soon, that, by analogy, certified Subaru Techncians had simply taken a few classes to automotive Subaru training and were not necessarily qualified or guaranteed to work on my car the certification does not matter, you should still consult your dealer, the garage, make sure it's good reputation.    Then, I asked him directly, so, on a phone call from me, a total unknown, he would be willing to send me or transfer to me $2 000,00.  He actually misses, in dismay.  So I repeated it-$ 2,000, say, in US dollars, would it send it to me, if I had called and told him his bank account had been disconnected from his bank, and I needed to reconnect it?   He ate and asked me ' you mean $2,000! $? ' so I said yes, would he give me or transfer to me on this amount, based on a phone call?  He said absolutely not.  End of quote.   I told him how we would check with some type IT geek friends we know, took his phone, name and said I would be back to him and please DON'T NOT CALL BACK IN AN HOUR, BUT PUT us WE HIS DO NOT CALL LIST.

At this point, I googled Zircon systems - and there is no such American society less than a jeweler or invest co. in Illinois), although I had a systems Zicom in India, which seems to be the sale of legitimate & electronic security systems and then I googled the identification number, find some great ads about what happen and asks what will be PayPal scam, if one agrees with the appellant and goes online and follow their directions.

(See mutation 2012 of a David Jacoby to http://www.securelist.com/en/blog/208193750/ , who described a telephone scam quite similar, with the technical information, copy requested screens, orders).   Maybe giving a technical support genuine or scam to support people on your side, an idea of what was going on my caller to walk me through, if I had fallen for the Universal Server disconnected claim it does?

Hope this helps to update your information, files.

In any case, this is my first time ever having reported a telephone scam.  Thought it would do, seems since then I received a call from update and more sophisticated scam.  My husband simply hung up on the caller last week - he knows little re our PC, I ask more tech-savvy people to help if necessary.  But then, the scammer called back, too.  If something had to be done to put an end to the process?

Don't forget, if you get that kind of call, simply ask the crook to trust YOU, say that you are a certified technician to bankruptcy with years of training from the IRS.  Ask if he is personally prepared to transfer $2 000,00 to you (via Paypal, do not give your bank account to him for any potential future direct deposit!), but preferably by cheque of... And it must be sent to the address of your worst enemy in life, as you need the alimony to a former spouse.  Or to a mailbox in a different city than your...  And then tell him you'll telephone him with the identification number of your computer, once you have verified that the money is in hand.

Done politely, in a pleasant soft voice, you would be surprised how unprepared the scammer or snow must be befriended as a simple employee, but itself for you send funds then asked?  I'm looking seriously for the money from them here - I'm not asking in fact send me $2,000, but I said that I was trying to explain by analogy, with auto - trained technicians and requests for money, why I wanted to check with the best-known people before giving identification numbers.  Analogies, it seems well understand what we hear - an example?  I just him speechless when I wanted a large amount of course him sent me instead...

Uh, Mr. Steve Matthew, Zircon systems, technical support for Windows company, also clearly didn't "want to send me a few thousand, and he hung up, after I suggested that he does not call again, asked him to put us on the list of subscribers do not call...   Clearly a new variant, although, in the wick on the Microsoft Certified Tech claims, the name of Zircon systems company and so I thought after that.

    Hello

I had a similar call from Indian women (?) strongly accented called 'Janet' of 'Zedconnsystems', based in Floria, USA. She had called asking to speak with my roommate to tell her at the computer (which is mine) showed the error messages.  She shook off the usual garbage and was unable to answer most of the questions I asked, but gave his phone number as 4084983608.

As far as scams go this one seems rather transparent, but mention on the off chance someone saves a load of hassle!

  • Crook - steal, operating system?

    Hello.

I'm still not sure yet of what happened (as the person was nervous about the information they passed to me), but the isit possible for a crook to steal the key of Activation of the registry/a user PC? If this is the case, is it possible to trigger an alert with Microsoft?

I've looked through my own registry and cannot find mention of my own key, because I was convinced that he stored in there (WIN7). I just want to ensure that the person who had the scammer had no their system flown under them, by a person claiming to be Microsoft.

I'm so happy, which is the firewall/anti-virus on PC software, stopped the con artist access to the user's PC via remote software, but I am concerned about the information that has been transmitted by telephone.
