Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Please see this FAQ as well as those it links to:

I hope that you have not exhausted the maximum attempts to unlock... If you have, then there is nothing to do and the BB cannot be used on any other carrier that it is original.

Good luck!

    Two options to try:

    One:

    • Open Blackberry Desktop Software & connect your device with the PC using the USB cable, without inserting the battery.
    • You have three Retry option, update or cancel, and then click Update.
    • Once it is at the stage of the "initialization of pocket" update, then insert the batteries.
    • If this does not work, and you get stuck on the safeguarding of social data feeds, go to the second method below.

    Second:

    • Start your BlackBerry in safe mode.  Article ID: KB17877 how to start a mode BlackBerry smartphone without failure http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB17877
    • Connect to the BlackBerry Desktop Software and allow handheld to connect. If you are prompted to update, cancel the upgrade for later.
    • IF you can not connect or your desktop software does not recognize your device in Mode safe, please follow the instructions here to force detection: Article ID: KB10144 how to force detect the BlackBerry smartphone using the Application Loader
    • Go to device > delete > SELECT DATA > select this option to remove the Social flow and smart card data bases and follow the rest invites you to complete.
    • Now, you can go back and click to update the device through the Desktop Manager, or restart the BlackBerry in normal mode and continue on the upgrade of the air.

  • E-mail on BB 8520 curve blackBerry Smartphones

    Hi, I'm new here.

I'm having problems to configure my BB 8520 curve to receive e-mails. First of all, I see that my BB is a little different from the others. People tell me that normally to configure the BB to receive emails that they go to configuration > configuration of email and their email and password. Well, I do too, but instead of asking my e-mail address they ask a series business and user.

Is - what happends because I've not given plan? Or to have your e-mail address on the BB curve, that you must have a service company?

    Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

To use the Push RIM owner messaging capability, you must have an adequate data of your carrier plan. Carriers welcome BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) to their BB users. In general, BIS is not available through generic data plans. Several ships make stop what is needed the Blackberry data plan. Whatever they call it, it is the carrier that delivers BIS users of BB - contact - the for assistance. Once you have a compatible BIS data plan on your BB (fees regardless of your carrier will charge, btw), then you will have personal email added to the e-mail Setup Wizard.

Regarding the 'Enterprise' option, which does not apply to you at all (you know if he did).

    Good luck!

  • New curve blackBerry Smartphones user 9320, I need a little help

9320 curve is my first Smartphone after an old style phone. I managed to understand the basics, texts, Internet access, etc. I need a bit of help with the rest, for example, I tried to download a free app, but get the error message 40721 - without put credentials cached.

    (A) what do I have to register my details somewhere to download (even free) applications, where and how?

    (B) I don't have a Blackberry ID, or more precisely do not know what is it.  How is it useful?

Here are my most immediate questions, and I would appreciate a few basic instructions, where and how to...

    Thank you very much

    Hi Woundenberg

I thing your carrier have not activated BlackBerry data Plan aka BIS on your account. BIS is different from a data plan normal, a normal data plan you will navigate on the internet but will not give access to the BlackBerry application. So I prefer to give you a call to T-Mobile for re - confirm whether or not they had allocated BIS on your account.

When BlackBerry data plans are enabled on your device, and then click Manage connections > Service status > = BlackBerry Internet Service it will be " Mobile network ".

Then call T - Mobile and let us know about your updates.

  • Decommissioning blackBerry smartphones phones 4 U 8520, can not find software Phones4U

Like many people, I upgraded to OS 5 recently, and frankly it's terrible. I looked around, discovered how to upgrade, but couldn't find the right software, I need.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8520, my network is Orange UK, so first I tried the software Orange UK from here: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/support/downloads/download_sites.jsp

But that did not work, so since Phones4U is not there, I tried the Carphone Warehouse Software (thought since they were not a network it can possibly use, but it does not).

Y at - it one of those working with mature Phones4U?

Uh, I'm sorry but YOU're wrong.  Only, you must delete the file vendor.xml on the pc after the installation of the OS and Loader.exe in c:\program files Research in motion\apploader allows to load any operating system on the device you want.  It is the most reliable way of loading the software of the device.

In fact, here is a late version of the OS 4.6 that you can load to you, if you simply follow the instructions posted:

    http://www.BlackBerryForums.com/General-8500-series-discussion-Gemini/214971-OS-8520-4-6-1-470-4-6-1...

or you can load the latest version 5.0 of this thread:

    http://www.BlackBerryForums.com/General-8500-series-discussion-Gemini/227461-latest-OS-8520-5-0-0-11...

to upgrade a device just follow the instructions.  To downgrade, just remove all versions in Control Panel > Add/Remove programs later than the version that you want to downgrade to and run loader.exe again.   It's pretty simple, actually.

    @Rajdeep-Rishi

Remember, it is a community user support forum. It might take a little longer than 7 to 8 minutes for a person to answer, so there is no need to post "Please help" of a second.

    1. Why do you have a new battery?

    2. after loading the battery IN the 9360 for the last 24 hours, remove the battery and reinsert again, what is happening on the screen and with the upper red LED?

  • BlackBerry smartphone App Error 200-8520

My 8520 is frozen and gives the App Error 200 message. I tried the solutions on the site, out the battery and connection to the computer and using blackberry desktop software but it goes on to say that there is an upgrade available, but something is missing in my desktop software and need to install first, and when I say install it says there is a problem? What can I do else?

Hello and welcome to the community!

Unfortunately, your brief report, I can't say for sure exactly what you have tried... for example:

    LynnF wrote:

but something is missing in my desktop software and need to install first and when I say install it says there is a problem?

Unfortunately, I can't say the specifics of the... what, exactly, he said was absent? What, exactly, were the words of the error message? Remember that we cannot see you, we cannot see your computer, we cannot see your device... we have only your words here to guide us to understand your situation, and understanding is the natural condition to prove a useful aid.

Nevertheless, I will take a guess...

    (1) make sure that you have a current backup and your BB complete... you can find the instructions at the link in my auto-sig below. (You probably will not be able to do it... with error, it is likely your data has already disappeared from your device, which means that a prior backup is what you need to restore from after you resolve this problem.)

    2) uninstall all the BB OS packages from your PC,

    (3) make sure you have the BB Desktop Software already installed

    (4) download and install on your computer, the BB OS package you want:

    • If all you want are the levels of BONE, it is first sorted by carrier - the carrier supports, your search will be fast. However, some carriers are much slower than others to release updates. To really get the package up-to-date OS for your BB, you need to dig through and find all businesses that support your specific model BB and then compare the BONE levels they support.

    5) remove all copies of the SELLER on your PC. XML... There will be at least one and maybe 2, and they will be located in the same way or to (it changes based on your version of Windows) these files:

    • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
    • C:\Users\(your Windows username) \AppData\Roaming\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Loader XML

Re-try now whatever it was you were trying before.

Good luck and let us know!

  • Memory of BBerry Curve blackBerry Smartphones

My Blackberry Curve comes from the factory with a fixed amount of memory, right?  How will I know what it is?  Is it Options-> status-> Total file?  Here's what I have:

Free file: 40197842 bytes (about 40 MB)
    File total: 83623936 bytes (~ 83MB)

So this basically means that the 'hard drive' Blackberry is 83 MB, right?  And I am using 43MB at the moment.  I have not setup my company on this Blackberry email yet.  Once I did, the 40 MB of free space allocated for electronic mail, or how does it work?  How the appliance allocates them the amount of memory is used for different applications, and can I change it?

Also, can I upgrade the memory of the system?  It is what a media card is for, or is it something different?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    -Martin

  • Curve blackBerry Smartphones capable 9320 receipt email but cannot send.

I have a Blackberry Curve 9320 with Virgin Mobile Canada.  I have the unlimited plan for Blackberry Messaging on my account which includes sending and receiving unlimited emails.  I have not received my email of problems but when I try to reply, send or before I get a black box pop up saying:

You are currently on a service plan that does not support this application.  If you want to use this application, please contact your service provider to upgrade your data plan.

I spoke with Virgin Mobile Canada on several occasions.  They have me guided through various corrections but also removed and added the function several times.  After that 3 days of work with their technical support I am still unable to send, reply, or forward any email to my BlackBerry smart phone but can still receive.

What are the next steps I take?

Hello and welcome to the community!

Not knowing exactly the things they already recommended to you, I am reluctant to advise nothing at all for the risk of redundancy. Instead, I'll answer your specific question:

    bkenny wrote:

What are the next steps I take?

Continue to work with Virgin and insist that they officially escalate your case up to BlackBerry for increased support. It is the only channel to receive help from BlackBerry... via the escalation at Virgin. You have no free path to work around them, and they do it for you. Review - you pay Virgin for all your services and all your support to the service... at the moment, they seem to be or to offer.

    Good luck!

  • Download ringtone for curve blackBerry smartphones?

I would like to download the ringtone "funky" under "Monophonic" on http://na.blackberry.com/eng/ownerslounge/downloads/ringtones.jsp. However, when I go to mobile.blackberry.com he is not listed as a free ringtone. Where can I find it? I'm willing to pay for it, I can't find it. Do you think that it is simply not available for the curve of 3300, but is available for other blackberries?

    Hello.

Select the ringtone on the PC, you will get a dialog box open or save the file.

Save the file. Close the connection. Right click on the file on the PC and send it to an email address on the BB.
