Customization of Vista problems
When I open control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization and click the window color and appearance link, I get a small window with "Appearance settings" on the top. There are options to change: window Inactive, Active, text window, Message box. There is a small select list of themes that I choose.
I does not change much on my laptop. But, I think I remember there was once a window control panel with options of color with big buttons to change the color. Something is messed up on my computer?
I did some research online and found a picture of what I'm talking about:
Where this window?
If something is messed up, how can I solve this problem?
I'm running Vista Basic with an upgrade to Vista Home Premium. I still have all my CD install.
What version of Vista are you using?
Right-click on an empty space on the desktop and select Customize
The first window you see should look like this
The window you're looking for would be WindowColor and appearance

buy the update or complete, if vista problems
It's about whether I should buy windows 7 updated version or full.
dv4-1275mx has had problems for many months now with slow speeds, freezes, crashes, locks etc.. (note I had to reinstall the computer to its factory State a couple of times, and the problem persists so im sure its not virus) initially, I thought it was causing Media Center all the problems that I always get an error "media smart tv TSR has stopped working" and always seemed to be something running one the down payment (with the busy light flashes like crazy) the computer running slowly. After that all these months I just found it's the registry causing most because it works fine now (after the execution of the tool pc registry mechanic) but still with media center and occasional freezes with windows Explorer errors.
If I use windows 7 upgrade, if it "recycle" files of vista (which might be corrupt) continues to give me the same problems in windows 7. If this is the case, will install the full version of windows 7 get rid of my vista problems (I guess they are problems and not hp vista).
I see that nobody has answered your original question - what version should you buy?
The decision you need to make has been described by one of the others - do an 'upgrade' or a 'clean install '? You will have both of these options if you purchase the upgrade version. You will get no benefit at all to purchase the full version.
It is always better to do an install clean (which erases everything on the machine), especially if you are having problems with the system. Yet once again, this can be done with the upgrade package.

Working multiple vista problems not administrative, update service is disabled
OTL: Bad vista problems.
Help! My HP pavilion Vista acted strangely at the point, I'm ready to shoot, I can't do any administrative work, update service is disabled and this is what happens when the computer starts, sometimes freezes and will not go up at all, sometimes at the beginning I get the blue screen of death in both cases I got to close to the stop hand , I get this: "error file system 1073741510", I also have a notification at the beginning upward that says service host has stopped working. If I download a patch from the Microsoft Web site file or any else for this issue to try to solve tne problem when I try to run my computer freezes and becomes useless, if I try to find a restore point for backward, the computer freezes and has to be restarted, safe mode I'm not offered the opportunity to run the hotfix files , and in safe mode, the computer says that there is no restore point on the computer. It is a mess! Someone has an answer to this problem which lasts from the beginning of March 2015?

A Vista problem or battery problem?
I have the same problem as a lot of people on this forum. I have a Gateway laptop that is brand new. Once 4 months the battery indicator starts to read "not plugged in charge ' so I sent it in Bridge 3 times. They have changed the mother, put the bios updated map, etc... but nothing has worked. Finally a new battery worked and I was happy. Now it has been 4 months later and the new battery is saying the same thing... "not plugged in charge." It also gives me a message of 0% battery life. BUT here's the funny part... the battery is fully charged. I can use it for 2 hours before he died and then I plug it and it loads fine... but when it is full, it goes to say ' plugged not supported "again. Any idea what the problem might be? A faulty wire? A bad connection between the battery and the laptop? or is it a Vista problem?
I made other suggestions such as the abolition of the command of battery etc... but nothing has worked. What's really funny is that if I remove the battery and put back in, the battery meter will then read very well (83%). It is a battery new (only 4 months), so I don't know what the problem is. The technicians out there with an answer? Thank you
Hello
Sounds like continuing hardware problems for me so probably better to communicate with the gateway.

Maybe this information will help you:
Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter

Question of Caps Lock Notification? Vista problem? or Dell Inspiron Issue?
Sorry if this is in the wrong forum; but I don't know who it is.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 running Vista Home Premium 64 Bit.
The question is when ever I type in another Forum, such as this one; or an email or even a Word document and I activate the "Caps" lock - it will get the sentence I type and I have the mouse to where I was.
I know that I get a notification "on the screen", but what the hell is happening? It shouldn't start me the sentence when I type.
I searched for hours and finally comes to join this community. So is it a Vista problem or a problem of Dell?
Thanks in advance!
You have Dell Quickset, installed on your system? Have you looked inside for a parameter disable the notification?
EDIT: According to this thread, it is certainly a matter of quick adjustment... They solved by uninstalling QuickSet, but there may be a QuickSet setting to disable the notification...

Its on a Satellite U200 163 Vista problems
Hello everyone,
I try to install Vista Home Basic on my U200 163, but I am facing many problems and really need help...
My biggest problem is that, after the upgrade, I have no sound on my computer. I installed the latest drivers from toshiba (toshiba American site vista drivers), my chipset is recognized as "Soundmax Integrated Digital HD Audio" and everything seems to be allright, but my speakers as well as my jack cards give no sound. Everything was ok under XP and my sound settings are ok, I even see the volume changes in the sound settings, I've never seen such a problem before... Did someone had an idea?
Moreover, I didn't find the drivers for sensor HDD and several applications of toshiba important as protector of HDD, energy-saving, indicator of volume, hotkey utility cannot be run...
I hope someone can help, thank you very much.
Hey guys

I just installed Vista on my Portege M400 and installed all the drivers on the driver Vista page.
But I have several questions...1: bluetooth does not work. I can't find anywhere in Control Panel whatever it is on a connection bluetooth or something else.
2: after you have installed all the drivers on the driver Vista page, there is 2 "unknown device" in Device Manager. I can't find any information on what are these devices. However, when I tried to manually install the driver bluetooth on the first of them "Unknown device" he admitted the driver. This does not work on the other. And it does not solve the problem of the bluetooth missing.
3: the tablet itself feature works very well - the pen and everything. But when I turn the screen into tablet mode it does not change the screen layout. Or the buttons on the lower part of the screen to work.
I hope that there is some sort of solution to these problems - and that someone can help me.
Concerning
Jonas HermansenI am also very interested in these drivers because all I know Toshiba Vista drivers are not available at this time.

Satellite P105 - stuttering Vista problems
I have a laptop P105 with the GeForce GO 7900GS and I've updated the BIOS for the new 4.70 and I still have the problem of stuttering under Vista (games and 3d applications to stop a moment every 2 or 3 seconds).
I m tired of this problem and I can't believe Toshiba have still not solved! I have this laptop for 2 years now and always with this problem...
I use Windows XP for good performance and I m thinking that Toshiba really doesn t have a solution for that.
Toshiba guys if you're not going to give us a real solution to this problem at least unlock the video card BIOS or release one with the GTX frequencies to win a few fps in games under XP... Most of the people with P105 doesn't guarantee more so if we screw up the laptop doesn't matter more!
I tried all the drivers and all that a man can do in trying to find a solution to it, but nothing... And there are MANY people with the same problem, I mean 90% of P105 owners have the same problem...Bye and sorry for my English: P!
Hello
I think that this has been solved already!
See this Toshiba document:+ New video driver and BIOS eliminates video "stutter" during the game (Windows Vista) +.

Recovery of Windows Vista problem for my Satellite A200 - 10 X
My computer was working OK. To speed it up, I decided to reformat the hard disk using the recovery DVD provided by Toshiba. Recovery failed. I tried several ways but keep having the same problem, i.e. the process is going in a loop.
What happens can be summarized as follows: when I turn on the computer using the DVD in the drive for recovery disk, the computer by loading windows files and then formats the hard drive, but stop about 18 percent through the State. Every time that happens the problem starts (X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe) at ImageX Tools for Windows; and mentions that Files\Toshiba\HD2Go\sea160s_HD.wmv c: Program... WimCopyF ileEx failed. Other errors are: error restore image. The drive is not ready; and ERROR: ImageX would not apply VISTA E:\05006XSP.swm 2 of ODD Index to C:\. ; Press a key... And the screen turns white. There is another window of the screen when i to this happens, who says the administrator: X:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe open in the BACK. After closing this window of the screen empties and the computer for everything in then opens in a Windows boot manager called window and said that windows could not start, winload could not be loaded because the application is missing or damaged.
If I try to boot from HARD drive recovery, there is no success. I tried turning on the computer while pressing C, or pressing 0 (zero) or F8, but without success. I can't go to the page where I can repair the HARD drive as described in the user manual.
I even tried to load an older version of XP, which has loaded but would not recognize the USBs, or sounds or a DVD player, etc.
Help, please.
Hello
Very strange! Are you using the Toshiba Recovery DVD for the first time now?
