D: drive is full & I am denied access to compress.

D: drive is full and I was about to try and compress but it tells me access is denied to do so. It compresses the best option and how do I get access to do?

Compress a drive which is full, it is impossible and impractical.  Disk compression required of available space, which is not the drive.  Disk compression has been reported and proved to be dangerous since once the disk 'compressed' file is damaged, all the data are lost.

If the hard disk is a separate drive (not a second partition) you should consider buying a large player.  Most of hard disk manufacturers provide a utility to "clone" the hard drive in the new drive.

  • I am the owner of everything on my pc I do not have the special permissions for individual files and I am denied access

    permissions of origin title: special

I am the owner of everything on my pc I don't have special permissions for some individual files that I find quite strange. It also means that I can't delete some files. I tried to access the files when I started from a different hard drive, but still can not remove. While I followed all procedures to address this issue, I still do not end with special permissions. Is it possible to modify or delete the files from the MS DOS window or is there something that I am missing. I also found it seems to be an 'unknown user' in the permissions area, and when I try to delete or change this 'unknown user' and a second show. 1 then said who is denied access, but the other has access. No matter what I have I can not get rid of it! And file sharing is disabled disabled! Help, please

In Vista, many files can not even to administrators. Some are to protect the user from making mistakes (like many in the Windows directory and in your personal profile).  Some are points of junctionhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb968829 (VS.85) .aspx which are there for backwards compatibility and should not be modified in any way (and certainly not deleted) or you may not be able to use your programs or may even damage the system to the point where it will need to be reinstalled).  You shouldn't need special permits to delete a file if you have all the rights, but special permissions can block access and that's sometimes how it blocks even administrators.  Keep in mind that XP administrators had access more than them in Vista - blocked is not necessarily a problem, but intentionally by developers of Vista.

However, if you're talking about files that you devriez have permission, then the following information about the ownership and permissions can help you.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we'll get the exact path of these files to make sure that you really can visit his profile and try adding special permissions.  I suspect that the problem is that everyone is denied access and blocking everyone - but we'll check (if necessary).

    Good luck!

  • Satellite M200 Vista shows that the HARD drive is full of 98%

This problem showed about 2 months ago the system started running slowly and after a bit of research, I went to computer and found he showed that the HARD drive was full of 98%. Then I went and disabled the feature of shadow copy that reached about 3 Gig. After that, the performance was still hurt, so I decided to do a system restore. All reformatted once was good again until a week ago, and the same problem came back once again.

This laptop is running Vista Home Premium SP1, 120 Gig drive HARD, Kaspersky Anti-virus, it has very limited connection to the Net, as it is mainly used to store and transfer music on an Ipod (20 GB of music).

Any thoughts? Maybe a hardware failure?

    Thanks in advance.

    Craig.

Hardware failure is very likely, since you are clearly able to access your hard disk without problem.
Looks like you are using software that could be gradually fill the hard drive with data, such as a log file, it is difficult to say.
With the erosion of the space, you might want to periodically check each folder in drive C (right click, properties) and see how it changes for each new session.

Also clean the temporary files would help such as for:

    "c:\temp".
    "c:\windows\temp".
    "%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temp.
erase internet files of Internet Explorer cache / temporary
deactivation and reactivation then "System Restore" (do this only if you are satisfied with Vista is running stable)

    Hello

Yes, you can move the data files on an external hard drive. You can also add a new disk
the computer - easier to a PC than a cell phone (even if the two can be made).

If you want to move a program installed, not just the data, you must uninstall
and then re-install the new disk.

You may want to transfer some data, images or documents on removable media such
as the USB keys, USB (my choice) or even CD/DVD drives (make multiple copies if

    Info:

System restore usually holds 15% of disk space and updates that are necessary for running computer
consume even more. Backup - Options of recovery and even MS updates and those of HP, Dell
or similar manufacturers use the space if your charging system. There are also overhead for the readers are not

  • Deny access to Internet with PIX 500 series

I need deny all access to the Internet for some guests at various locations. We use the PIX 501 and 506 firewalls to create a full mesh of VPN between offices. How to configure access lists to deny access to the Internet to only a certain number of hosts?

Configure an access inside the interface list and begin by denying the host that you want to block after that add the hosts and protocols that should be able to connect to the Internet.

    example:

Internet access list deny ip 192.168.1.10 host everything

Internet access list deny tcp host 192.168.1.10 any eq 80

allow Internet access list ip 192.168.1.20 host a

    ...

Give me a more detailed example.

You can also work with groups of objects to be more specific and group several UDP or TCP port.

    example:

    object-group service tcp Web

    EQ object of port 80

    EQ object of port 443

    object-port eq 21

internet access list deny tcp 10.2.1.0 255.255.255.0 any object-group Web

Internet access-list permit tcp host 10.2.1.10 a host Web object-group

allow a whole list of internet access

If you want just a report of chkdsk on your C partition select Start, run, type "cmd" without the quotes in the box and press ENTER. Type chkdsk, and then press the ENTER key and a report, stating, among other things, a summary of how disk space is used, is provided. If you want a report on a partition or one drive other than C, you need to go to this partition. To access F, where F is the required partition you type F: and press the ENTER key.

Copies of the reports from a command prompt can be tricky. Right click and select mark. This allows to highlight the selected text, and then click on copy. You will then open Word, Notepad or similar file, right click and paste. The selected text transfers your Clipboard to open the file. You can paste directly into a response message to the majority of the forums.
