A general question on installing Windows 7 and RAID configuration
I have an OEM Windows XP machine. His HD system consists of two physical disks connected during a RAID 0 configuration. The RAID has been initially configured in the BIOS (and maybe an extra chip), and then there are the drivers included in the installer of the OS.
My question is: if I install Windows 7 from scratch on this machine (i.e. not updated from XP) the installation process would allow me to configure the RAID? Has its own generic drivers for RAID configurations?
You will appreciate a response from a really knowledgeable person.
See the following topics:
Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)
Click on drive Options
Click on load a driver
Point to a USB key where you have stored drivers

Creation of a new database Oracle and Sql Developer
Hello
I am a newbie to Oracle and and a beginner not so Sql Server and Visual Studio.
I am trying to learn Oracle on my local machine. I want to create a new Oracle database and start learning from here.
I downloaded the Client Oracle sql developer and maker of data. Could someone please provide some guidance on how to create an Oracle database?
From the responses, it seems that none of the articles I've mentioned actually creates a database. SQL Server provides a free download, also a developer version for a small fee. What specific Oracle product would be better to provide this type of service?
Thank you
Mark
Published by: user8948230 on January 7, 2010 09:50You can download the company for educational use via the OTN site. There is also the Express edition, which includes limits on the OTN site as well.
Whatever it is, read the agreements to make sure that you use it properly.

Database Oracle and VirtualCenter 5.0 on the same server?
We have 11 ESXi host and whant to install Oracle R2 on the VirtualCenter 5.0 server.
VirtialCenter 5.0 and Oracle will bee installed on a virtual machine.
The virtual machine will have 4 vCPU´s 2 GHz each and 8 GB of RAM.
So my question is:
Is - this senario ok, or do I have TO install Oracle on a separate server?
Hello
You can use Oracle as the database for vCenter Server 5.0 and is therefore capable of managing all your ESXi hosts - all 11 of them. This means that you need to install Oracle on your virtual machine where you plan to install the vCenter Server 5.0 and when it asks for the select Oracle database. See the installation guide for vCenter Server 5.0.

The database on professional P6 configuration error
Hello world!
I try to install the professional version of Primavera P6R8.2 but I'm stuck on configuring database Oracle XE 11 g e 10g
Whenever I do the configuration I got the error message:
bad public user name or password. Can not find the DLL of the OIC: OIC. DLL
What should I do in this case?
What is the right settings for the public login information?
The usernames and passwords?
I try to access using pubuser, privuser, sys, system and admin , but nobody works in this situation...
Can someone help me solve this problem?
and one last question, why I can access the address http://127.0.0.1:8080 in concepts of bases to Oracle XE?Hello
In my opinion, you will first need to uninstall the database oracle and P6 of your system. Having done this, you can try first to install Oracle 10 g DB. Install the same available usernames and passwords. Then, run the Setup file of P6.
Confirm the user name and password with your DB administrator. It is for this reason that you can not install the same.
Kind regards

Hi, can anyone please help me by pointing out the difference or any similarity between peoplesoft and oracle database data? I'm naïve then please explain in simpler words, thank you
This means that you should have only one instance of the peoplesoft application installed on an Oracle server.
for example. you want to set up a development environment - we must first install database oracle and peoplesoft and then install it. When you install peoplesoft on oracle database, it will load the oracle peoplesoft peopletools tables database that will contribute to the creation of application related PeopleSoft.
Now if you need an enviornmnet to test, then create another instance of oracle database and leave the name UTL and install the peoplesoft on this application.
These two will be 2 instances of peoplesoft differenct - development & Testing.Hope that clarifies your question.

Files, database and Raid 11 G
Our new 11g server is Windows 2003 32-bit with disks configured in Raid 1 and Raid 5. Here is how it is prepared.
First group of disks Raid 1 OS and Oracle Home is 144 GB in size.
Second disk Raid 1 group is 276 GB in size. Currently empty.
Third disk Raid 5 group is 836 GB. Currently empty.
What I'm trying to understand, is where should I put my files of database for better performance. My plan is to put the Temp tablespace in the first group of Raid 1 with the OS and the Oracle home. Then I'll put the Redo Logs and Rollback Segments on the second Raid 1 group. I'll put the other files in the database on the Raid 5 group with archive logs. Also, I intend to put a control file on each of the Raid groups to space out them.
All reading I did on this forum and others, this seems like the best solution, but before I create the database, I wanted to make sure. I was unclear if I should move away from the OS and Oracle Home Temp tablespace, move the archive logs to a Raid 1 group or move my tablespace Index data files on the Raid 5 group.
Visual layout
RAID 1 = OS, Oracle Home and tablespace Temp (control file)
RAID 1 = Redo logs and Rollback (control file)
RAID 5 = data files and archive logs (control file)
Should I do something different? Thanks for any advice. With today's technology, it's not really important :-) Unless you have special needs when your database is heavily loaded and you need less than a second time to answer, you can put everything on RAID5. Our database contains all files and executables on RAID5 (Oracle Applications ERP database). PlL see ML Doc 30286.1 (IO Tuning with the different RAID Configurations) for more details.

Oracle Database Express and other editions Installation Doc difference
Hello, I'm a total newbie. Any help will be appreciated.
First of all, I tell you I want to be an Oracle DBA.
My question is; I read the database to Oracle 11 g R2 documentation at this link http://www.oracle.com/pls/db112/homepage
I spent a few days discovering all parts of installation including the class desktop and server configuration.
I learned, so I had already downloaded Express database Oracle 11 g R2 for win32.
I thought I had already done the installation guide that it is time to install the oracle now. I did, and what I've found, is there not an option during the installation I've read in above documentation.
While trying to find on this difference, I arrived on http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E17781_01/index.htm documentation
It is for the Express version only.
My question is, Express edition, which we use for the purpose of learning, but it's not like he has all the things we learn during the installation (after I have no idea right now).
And what are the documents I should follow my previous gave two links?

Published by: 994952 on March 19, 2013 23:16If your company has the oracle license you must download and learn that the version you need to use there IMHO.
You can get this version of OTN because it is available for this reason that I mentioned (learning and development)! -

Supermicro onboard Intel and Adaptec RAID configuration unrecognized in ESXi 5.5 U2
Hi, I have a supermicro X7DAL-E r1.1b motherboard has integrated Intel and Adaptec sata raid controllers. To enable raid controllers, I go into the BIOS and enable the raid configuration for intel or adaptec. I tried two raid controllers and created a configuration raid 5 by going through the bios of each controller. However, when I start to go through the process of installing ESXi 5.5 U2, I see not a logical drive, all I see are hard drives that I thought were configured as a logical drive in raid 5.
I know that I am using an old motherboard which is not on the HCL, but I just haven't the money to spend on equipment. I really want to make it work if possible. I tried to download ESXi 4 but it is no longer available . I understand I tried to use an older version to see if it contains the necessary drivers for it work and attempt to port these drivers in ESXI 5.5.
I was wondering if someone actually got this similar problem with supermicro Board and whether a solution or workaround has been found in which ESXi 5 can recognize the raid configuration? If this is impossible, it can't be done, that's what it is. I'll deal with it or put in place.
Any suggestion would be appreciated.
Not sure about this 'r1.1b' version, but original X7DAL-E has no onboard hardware raid controller. What he has is i5000 chipset, which offers the raid software-(aka bios-, faux-, etc.). This is not supported by ESXi (for very good reasons). And even if it were, no cache, you would get terrible performance...

Number of databases such as Oracle and SQL Server in the same application ADF
Hello
In my application, I need to use two different databases such as Oracle and SQL Server. There are screens that I need to develop in the ADF where I need to involve fields of the tables in these two different databases. I just want to know - is it possible to do so in application of the ADF?
Or to create a sort of link between these databases in the backend? Then create a view object involving some distributed SQL queries. What can I do with this type of request than anything? I mean, can I use the two insert or update operation using this VO?
Or y at - it another way to do this?
Please help, help here would be really appreciated. I've been stuck with this problem for a while now. I did search our forums for the same problem, but was not able to find a reliable solution.
Thank you
VijayIt's still not clear to me if you need two db tables in a query, or a transaction.
If this is the case, your best option (to my knowledge) is to use a db link. in this way, you only need to access (for example the oracle db) and can access the objects from the other data from the oracle database.
I don't understand
>
(3) a model project with a meeting of the two datasource. I selected a data source and created OT and VO. When I have selected a different data source and select tables to create VO and EO and finished but these EO and VO is displayed in project. >(2) If you need to link data from these two dbs you can not use this approach (see the note at the top of the post)

Database context and Jdev Oracle
Hello
I try to use a database context in jdev application: but this context is not always applied... so my question is: where can I populate a database context?
My application use a pool of multiple connections.
My code is:
Should I put this "callStoredProcedure" in the "createSession" used by the ApplicationModule? If so, how can I do?public void beforePhase(PagePhaseEvent event) { (...) if (event.getPhaseId() == Lifecycle.PREPARE_MODEL_ID) { (...) callStoredProcedure("packageDB.SET_USER_CONTEXT(?)", params); (...) } }
Thanks in advance
Clément
PS: I use jdev 11 GR 1 material, and database Oracle 9Clement,
You can override prepareSession() in your module application (don't forget to call super.prepareSession)
