  • Second SSD dies after only 13 months

    Hello

I read the topic of the 'death of SSD on Aspire S7' on this forum.

Having posted the following comments on it I thought that I would do better to start a new and share my progress with you.

    ----

I read with interest the previous comments on the early failure rate, but what are the chances to get a reliable drive before the warranty runs out?

I had the SSD on my M5 fail after about 7 months. Acer it replaced under warranty, but it has just failed again one month out of warranty. So 2 doesn't have a SSD in 13 months. Tech support said there is nothing they can do, but take care to have a replacement mounted. This doesn't seem fair to me. Not all happy.

  • SSD for my Aspire V Nitro 15 VN7 - 571 G-72UZ

    I can add a SSD for my Aspire V Nitro 15 VN7 - 571 G-72UZ? It's super slow...

    Absolutely Yes.

Update to the SSD HARD drive is a good way to improve your PC. My suggestion is to only install the OS on the SSD if the HARD drive still works. Then use the HARD drive as secondary storage. This would save space on the SSD so you won't need to buy SSDS with capacity. I don't know what your operating system, but normally a 120 GB SSD is sufficient for the OS. And you can install some favorite programs if there is a lot of space left after the installation of the operating system.

Clean install and cloning two works, yet if you want to keep all the current personal settings, cloning is the best choice. You can learn more about transfer of HARD OS to SSD drive here. Note that after cloning or a clean installation, you will need to remove the old HDD or change the boot settings in the BIOS to check if the operating system starts. If everything is OK, reformat the partition to the OS on the HARD drive in Windows PE mode (you cannot format under Windows environment).

    Kind regards.

  • Boot SSD on charges windows configuration install on the Aspire S3 - 951

I am trying to install Windows on an Aspire 8.1 s3-951. The computer has two drives, a 20 GB SSD for the startup, then a larger storage drive. Before I removed Windows 7, Windows displays only a large disk. I installed Windows 8.1 on the SSD, but I can't understand how to make window think them as a single disk.

    Suggestions? Thank you!

the 20 GB SSD was not for the OS, but just like cache for a rapid reactivation of hibernation and on windows 7, he was simply hidden the system.

in my opinion, the creation of a single hard drive is not a value since involves the RAID configuration and you feel not probably speed optimizations.

  • Aspire M3400 Office will not identify newly installed SSD

An old functional computer: Aspire M3400 with upgrades: AMD phatom II X 4, 12 GB of RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GT 730. Long worked like a charm. Recently bought a new SSD thought to make a clone to replace aging HARD drive, but it is not found in the system.

the new SSD is Micron M500 480 GB SATA III. It has been recognized in the BIOS, but once the operating system is loaded from the old HDD, the new SSD did not show anywhere, including disk management. In the Device Manager disk drives showed only the HARD drive, that the new SSD was not.

I tried to bind the SSD with the original SATA cable, didn't stand a chance. I acutally put the SSD in another office that is also running windows 7 and the other computer is able to automatically detect and install the SSD without problems. I formatted the SSD Windows 7 on the other computer and then re-set back to Acer Aspire M3400. Still, there is the same problem: the desktop computer does not recognize the formatted SSD.

What could wrong? Is it possible Acer Aspire M3400 is incompatible with SSD?

Any input would really be appreicated!

You can try to switch to AHCI RAID, following the instructions in this article:

Boot using a RAID, make the registry change, then switch to AHCI.

  • Acer Aspire V15 Nitro replace SSD HARD drive

I bought this laptop in March 2015. This laptop comes with 1 TB of HDD.

I wanted to replace the HDD SSD but I called the service center (Service of Highpoint), Acer technician told me that there is no way to replace with SSD because the port is different, any SSD can also compatible with this laptop HARD drive port.

This make me very confuse because I search in google, replace with SSD is quite possible.

So I'm here to ask for advice. Hope can get a response. Thank you.

    Published:

My laptop model: Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition (VN7 - 591 G)

    -Core i7 4710Q

    -12 GB OF DDR3 RAM

    -HARD DRIVE 1 TB

    -NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M

you have 2 options on your laptop:

    (1) switch for one SSD 1 TB HARD drive

    (2) add an SSD on form factory M2 on its location (top-left, near the fan), so you can have installed SSD and HDD

the second option, other users have done so, and sometimes they have had some problems during the recording of the SSD as first boot device (or window Boot Manager), since the BIOS tries to boot from SATA port.

You can force it by pressing F12 at startup and select the appropriate boot device.

    It is up to you.

  • Compatibility with Aspire V15 Nitro SSD

    Hello

An SSD is compatible with any laptop? I mean, is there any brand/model required for a mobile specific? I want to move to 250 GB ssd (Samsung Evo) to the system memory usage and buying an external hard drive 2 TB for all my personal files. Will there be conflict? Thanks in advance!

You can adapt any SSD 2.5 ". It works perfectly.

However, your laptop is a m2 SSD slot. Who can easily manage a 250 GB SSD M.2. The only downside is that I think it would be a little more expensive and that the slot, it is across the motherboard, so to fit an SSD of m2 in height, you will need to get the motherboard out. But this also applies to the RAM. It's more work in the laptop machine code to replace the HARD drive. But the advantage is that you can keep the drive HARD for mass storage and the SSD for the OS and some software.

  • Aspire One d255 does not recognize the usb connected external ssd drive

I want to replace the original HDD 160 GB with a 120 GB Samsung ssd 750 evo but bios and win 10 does not recognize the ssd drive as an external drive connected via a usb connection, so I couldn't create an image of my internal hard drive.  Is there a way to clone my hard drive SSD, so I can exchange the disc later?  I need to update the bios, install a missing driver, etc. ?

I used two different connections: one is a 2.5 "SATA case disc that I used with a disk 2.5" HARD and works very well with the HARD drive and the other is SATA/IDE connector combination with cables for SATA and power and none of these works.  I read in another forum during my research that the Aspire One d255 doesn't recognize any external SSD connected through a USB either.  Since my netbook has no data, and I had just a pure 10 Windows installed on his drive HARD internal, I removed the 160 GB HARD drive and replaced by a 120 GB SSD and installed another Windows own 10.  It worked and my system boots now in less than 20 seconds.   We can close this thread now since I now have a faster machine fully function.  Thank you!

  • Reconfigure Aspire SSD caching on Windows 10 v7

    Hello

I have upgraded to Windows 10 on my Aspire V7 482pg (5861). I installed all the drivers recommended on the support page and have not run into any significant errors. However, this particular laptop comes with an SSD for caching, and I was not able to reconfigure it to do this. The software ExpressCache I used before on Windows 8.1 doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10.

Y at - it an another software caching that I should try to use? One of the downloads on the support page is Intel Rapid Storage (even though the description on the page shows a quick start, it is certainly a fast storage that has been installed). At present, the only thing Rapid Storage seems to do is reduce the amount of energy during periods of inactivity.

Should I try to configure the system to use Smart Response? It is even possible with this version of rapid storage technology?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thank you

    Hello

I have the same laptop and I faced the same problem. I downloaded the driver for Acer ME600 ExpressCache from the support page, changed the installator and now the SSD caching works ok. Link

    Hope this helps

  • Aspire V3 - 371 a 2nd disk space this SSD?

Hello, I'm using Acer Aspire V3-371 with 500 GB HARD drive, I wonder if my laptop has a space that I could mount the SSD drive or I have to replace the HARD drive and SSD mount instead? Thank you in advance.

    It's my turn info

    Hello

Your laptop is a single slot 2.5 "for a HDD/SSD. It doesn't have a secondary dwelling unit or a slot m2 or mSATA SSD, so you will need to replace the HARD drive if you want to use an SSD.
