Satellite A300D - overheating issue and it stops itself

Hello

Computer: Satellite A300D (PSAHCE)

Bought my A300D two months ago. It was pre-installed with Vista, which, unfortunately, after a while, became so slow, that it was impossible to get anything done. So I decided to install Windows 7, the other day and it worked like a charm. Except for the fan stops after about 1-2 hours of work. Even if the temperature exceeds 60-70 ° C. The computer stops at about 80 c.

I do not understand why the fan stops working.

So far, I have tried the following: I tried to clean the fan with compressed air.

I read this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46796&tstart=0 on an update of the BIOS, but the one I found, dated February 09 is the same version I already have. Are there any new?

I read this thread http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46117&tstart=105 that connects this http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htm guide where there is something called Toshiba Power Saver Settings. I searched for her to Toshibas support center, but it can not be found for my model.

I tried using Speedfan freeware without results. I work as a developer, and I only have my netbeans IDE and Spotify ongoing enforcement, even if the computer gets hot after about 1.5 to 2 hours of work because the fan stops.

Anyone have any idea on how I can solve this or something else I can try?

I forgot, I also put the cooling system active strategy.

Hello

If I understand you correctly, this happens only on Windows 7. Is this good?

If so, you should go back to Vista or let's say the factory settings. I assume you are using Windows 7 beta or Release Candidate, and this isn't an official version of Windows. In addition Windows 7 isn't on the market and there is therefore no support of official rider for the time.
Maybe Windows 7 peut t control the fan settings correctly.

But this problem could be caused due to a third-party display driver. Then you should try the display driver for Vista on the Toshiba site, maybe it helps

Welcome them

    Hello

I have a problem with my 3 month old Toshiba Satellite A300D-126. Any time I play a game like Call of Duty 4 or Warcraft after like 15-20 min, the left side of the laptop where the cooler is placed, it is overheating, almost too hot to the touch, and finally the laptop stops.

I have to mention the fact that, recently, I installed XP (all the drivers downloaded from the Toshiba site), but I somewhat had the same problems on Vista also.

I downloaded MobileMeter, and temperatures have shown here I think that they are not normal:
Temp - HDD-35-36 degrees C and 80-85 C (when I m only not with the games, so I think that during the Games time. significantly increase)

Is it possible that the cooler can deal with games, and it is dusty? If so, how do I to clean?

    Allows any kind of response,

    Thank you

    Hello

I play call of Duty 4 on Satellite A300-1LI and so far everything is fine. Okay that's the different hardware platform, but I still believe that there should be no difference.

I think CPU temperature is perhaps greater than usual but, in my opinion, not the critical level. The normal temperature of the hard drive and the same as on my Satellite A300.
I don't know how you use your laptop, but it is the new model of laptop and I don't think that there is so much dust inside. If the laptop is placed on the desk, try putting back on two CD boxes and place it on the top position. Reduce graphics settings in the game and check again.

Is the method of cooling energy savings of Toshiba to the maximum level?

  • Satellite A300D-15B - off and charging problem

    Hello

I have a Satellite A300D-15B, running Windows 7 32 bit, which has bought used recently. I encountered some problems and I hope that someone can help me with!

First of all, the day I got the machine, he spent all of a sudden, but turned back immediately and seems to be ok. Subsequently, 3 weeks later (Saturday 2 July) I was installing some software when I got an AGV virus warning, in a few moments the machine again is turned off suddenly. Unfortuanetly right now it will not turn back and the costs/AC power indicator do not come. After some research, I found that remove the BIOS battery and power dissipation allowed me to turn on the machine. Are there any known issues that could be the cause?

Second, once I had the laptop to turn on after you stop suddenly on Saturday, I found that the charger will not yet be you register as being plugged in unless I have use the folling procedure.
    (1) disconnect the power cable fuse from the transformer block
    (2) remove the battery
    3) plug into the DC Jack
    (4) plug the power cord for the transformer that causes the power led on the laptop to turn on.
    (5) reconnect the battery

The laptop then charges normally, I use it to write this post.

I must use this process whenever the unit is unplugged the sector or charger, which is irritating and also concern that there could be trouble on the horizon.

Any help would be much appreciated.
    see you soon
    John

    Hi John,.

You wrote that your laptop runs with Windows 7 and the first question you mentioned could be linked to the operating system only. You can test one thing please? Restore factory using Toshiba recovery disc. The disc will restore original settings of the case which is pretested by Toshiba.

If it s just a software related problem the recovery disc will resolve this problem.

Unfortunately, it could be a malfunction of the motherboard also. Are you using the original Toshiba AC/DC adapter or 3rd party one?

    Hello

Can on mate, you can find all the drivers and utilities on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

You must install Toshiba Value added Package. That's all that you need for the FN keys. ;)

But I m wondering about your question about the fan. Why do you think the fan isn't recognized? Everything about the fan will be controlled automatically. You can change only the method of cooling between performance and battery optimized in Windows power management.

  • Satellite A300D - overheating after replace fan

    Hello
I just replaced the fan on my girlfriend A300D as on the old fan bearings were going and making it very loud and he had just gone out of warranty.

However, the computer keeps overheating with this new fan.
Everything is clean and the fan works and move the heat out, however the area around the touchpad becomes very hot and laptop computer often overheats and stops automatically.

Any advice on what could be the problem and what can be done to remedy this?

    Kind regards
    David

    Hi David!

Which fan did you use to replace? Is it the same as the old fan? Here you can compare part numbers, I guess the new fan is another.

Well, it's hard to say why the laptop is overheating if everything is clean. Have you cleaned using compressed air stream?

I think that in this case you need professional assistance of a technician for laptop. You can contact an ASP to get help:

  • Satellite A200 overheating issues

I got my A200 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 2 x 160 GB in Raid 0, 512 MB ATI Mobility HD2600, 2 GB DDR2 667 around the Christmas period in 2007, since I bought it I had a major problem that has never been corrected under my warranty. Laptop overheating, overheating all playing games, when copying large files or after a few hours of heavy use. I had the graphics card and card mother, or even replaced the cpu, graphics card twice. now I'm no longer under warranty, and the problem starts again. I can't run without it going down.

My options: take it back to harvey norman and try to get them to fix it again
Call toshiba and get them to maintenance for me (they're going to clean the dust out of her charge me two hundred and it will start to play a month later)
by the post here and hope that some toshiba tech can explain a possible bios fan problem, or how to clean myself.

If I don't get help, I think I'll try to get the laptop all replaced by toshiba - see if they'd pay the difference, because they sold me a product defective, reports on this issue are very common online without a solution - they want your using the wrong or something but im drivers everything works the out of the box and it has the same problem.

Ive tried everything, keeping the computer about 6 inches on the desktop but the internal component always on a fire of disks formatted. A friend of mine has a similar problem with another company and they replaced the laptop everything and updated. I hope toshiba can offer me something similar though I am no longer under warranty. However, the components I had replaced 6 months ago problably are still.

so if anyone has a solution or if toshiba could get it please contact me it would be much appreciated.

    Hello

Disassembly manuals are not available on the pages of Toshiba. I guess that they are not for public use. If you need instructions on how then you glasses a bit.
    Maybe you could be successful.

One of my friends has one of the portable Sat A200 and it works without problems.
    It has installed Win XP.
I remember that after installing Win XP, you will need to update the BIOS to the version of Win XP. There are two different versions of BIOS. XP and Vista.

My laptop (Toshiba not a) overheated in the past because of the clogged vents. Circulate fresh air could not t and the internal temperature has arisen at a critical level. I cleaned the vents of the dust and debris with the can of compressed air.
    This helped a little.

But after some time the problem happened again the next local laptop technician, I visited and he disassembled the laptop in order to renew the layer of fat that was placed between the CPU and the cooling fans.
He said that this is necessary if the heat created by the CPU would not drain properly.

After that, my laptop is ok.
Of course I have enough free space around the laptop because it is very important to the circulation air properly!

Amazing how bad customer service can be...

I put t understand why you are not satisfied with the service the customer, but is only in the event of hardware problems, you should always contact the local Toshiba authorized service provider that is available in your country.

How to make for the moment if she s really a hardware problem, or maybe just a software problem (corrupt system)?
There is a very simple method and the workaround:
In most cases if you are recovering the laptop back to factory settings, software problems should be fixed the laptop should work fine.

Where the recovery does not resolve problems of laptop, laptop s material could be affected. In this case (as noted above) you will need extra assistance engineer of the laptop.

at the hardware level, list of this computer laptop Bluetooth is not mentioned. This is why * I think he doesn't have this feature. Then why is it included in the package and also installed Bluetooth software?

This laptop model doesn t have BT. You can check if you press FN + F8. Each notebook with BT it option to BT.

  • Satellite A300D - Turn off all the time

My wife has a Satellite A300D (model PSAK4E) and it keeps closing. The two randomy and when induced under certain conditions

Previously, I tested the HARD drive and found bad sectors then replaced with a 64 GB SSD. I tried to install Windows 7 but it kept fault towards the end. So I reset the machine without a battery and now the power button for 2 minutes to clear the memory. Installed Windows 7 + updates.

I was worried about stopping all the time but flashed the BIOS. Flash worked.

Laptop resets always? I have reviewed several possible causes and wanted to get other peoples ideas
1 HARD drive - replaced and even resets
    2. battery - ran on power sector only and even resets
3 overheating - sometimes under certain conditions (memmory tests or you try to run certain applications) or randomly (without reason)
    4. a broken circuit somewhere on the motherboard
5 - completely new OS + software resets the laptop when using some applications from a live disk.

Thank you inadance for the help

    Hi me_in_oz,

Theoretically the laptop turn off itself due to a higher internal temperature to protect the equipment against damage.
In this case, you will need to clean the laptop using jet of compressed air to blow the dust from the cooling fans. It is easy and takes only a few minutes to check out this article:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

Otherwise it seems to be a serious hardware problem and your laptop should be checked for professional people. Probably it s a malfunction of the motherboard

  • Re: Satellite A300D-13 has: problems starting - starts not or only black screen

Hello, I have a Satellite A300D-13 has and the problem is, when I try to start the laptop for most, he tries to boot from the hard drive or the DVD drive but then he just stops and starts again immediately to do the same. In this case 4 or 5 times. Once it seems that it starts well, but the only thing I see is a black screen. And the keyboard does not work either.

If I try several time with closing by pressing the power button (you know who I mean), I managed it starts normally (but such a situation is always annoying). Moreover, it seems that this happens only when I did use the laptop for a while. So maybe it has something to do with the temperature. But more or less 20 ° C in my room.

In the Bios I have change the boot order of the sources (I can't change it much more)

I am grateful for any kind of help.
Thank you for your cooments in advance

    Hello

The issue could be related to software, but also for the hardware problem.
But first, we have to check if it s a software problem.

You are using the original operating system preinstalled by Toshiba. Is this good?
AFAIK the most recent series of laptop is equipped with HARD drive recovery option.
In this case, the Toshiba Recovery DVD has not been delivered with the laptop but there is an option to create a.
HARD drive recovery option can be used to reinstall and update the operating system.
I would recommend to repair the operating system and reinstall it again by pressing the F8 key. The Advanced Startup menu should appear and then you must choose to repair your computer.

This option will start the recovery procedure and the BONES to relocate again.
Please check if a new facility will improve the situation with Notepad.
In addition, it would be desirable to update the BIOS, if a newer version of the BIOS is available on the European driver Toshibas page.

If this suggestion won't help you then whole notebooks material must be check by a local ASP.
