Debian Squeeze comments identification

I imported a prompt of Debian Squeeze 32 bit ESXI 5.1.

With vSphere Client 5.1 Build 941893, I not Debian 6 (squeeze) as a guest in available operating system.

(For this time I have used Linux other comments 32-bit but want to use Debian 6 32-bit.)

I've seen Debian 6 32-bit option on some screenshots of people who have set up Debian Squeeze as a guest OS, but this option is available in the vSphere Client drop down.

This option could be hiding in the dialog box why or where?  I have Debian 5, 4 option available.

Is it possible manually via the CLI?

Check my answer to new topic where I stated that I had to upgrade the hardware of the VM before Deb 6 stood as an option.  Shut down the virtual computer, right-click on it, upgrade virtual hardware.

Be sure to check that your guest operating system will support the new virtual hardware configuration.  Since you have a 3rd part of the VMware Tools installed, this seems to suggest that your guest is sort of a prepackaged VM also...

  • Toshiba NB100 ACPI & WIFI on Debian Squeeze

Hi, it is perhaps a good place to ask.

One morning, I founded my netbook completely hung. So I turned off and restarted, but it hung in new and latest lines on the screen where the ACPI: _OSI (Linux) ignored BIOS query. From now my linux can start very well just with the following kernel options: nolapic noapic, acpi = off, acpi = noirq and my atheros wireless card does not work. A strange thing is that this wireless card is now detected by lspci as AR5001, but before it was detected as AR242x. I tried the madwifi and ath5k drivers, but does not. On the touchpad, it is activated and I can activate and deactivate by pressing fn + f1

This is the result of lspci with the ath5k driver

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Inc. AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter (rev ff) (prog-if ff)
!!! 7F of type unknown header

So I upgraded the BIOS to latest version 2.10, but it remains the same. Tried to boot with knoppix usb stick and it to 'start the nucleus' without freezing kernel options.

    My system is Debian Squeeze.

So I don't know what's going on, can someone help me with this?

    Thank you

    Hello

It seems that it s not the right place to ask this question here. The point is that most Toshiba laptops come with Windows and not with a distribution of Linux. Also I m not a Linux user, but I have based this interesting article:

    Hey Buddy,

As you can see: here are not much expert Linux because most users (and me too) use the pre-installed Windows version because it s tested and well run.

Maybe a Linux expert can give you a good answer, but I created something that might be interesting for you:

  • Problems with the windows/debian home network after router switch

    Hi all:

I'm new on all the forums, but desperately need help. Even though I am not new on windows and have been building my own computers for years, I am pretty new to networking and also for Linux.

I have a home network with 3 computers with windows 7 installed and my server with Debian Squeeze. Somehow I've muddled through the installation of debian and even on my network using samba (after days of research). Everything has been great to work with all 3 computers and my server talking to each other.

I got internet connection across the home network, and all the computers + Server appeared and was accessible on the LAN. It was with a little D - link DIR-601, last week I lost all the internet connect to Comcast, which turned out be their problem but Comcast informed me that my router was not the best and he was originally put my speed problems.

So I bought a new router Linksys WRT54GL and installed yesterday and it's where I need help... I have internet connection and you can surf the web on all computers 3 windows and the debian server, all computers 3 windows appear and are accessible on the LAN, but not the debian server.

As soon as I reinstall the D-link router, everything is back to normal. I tried with my limited knowledge of Linux to change network configuration files in my debian server but so far no change. I'm not sure this is a linux problem or a problem with linksys... If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this problem, I could use you help... Thank you ALL!.

Thanks for your suggestions, but it turns out that the problem was a Linux problem, after changing routers, I had to make some changes in debian Linux as share. I'm on duty again.

  • Backlit keyboard Satellite A660-12th

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A660 - 12th Debian Squeeze rocking in dual boot with Windows 7, and I recently acquired a backlit keyboard.

The problem is that the keyboard does not, either in Windows or Linux. Now, I know it works, because I tested it with a battery. So I think that the problem is in the BIOS, and probably, he is not recognized. (I have all the options related to the keyboard in my bios (BIOS 2.30 running))

I appreciate your help and waiting for you! Thank you!

  • Satellite R830 random freeze with no way to take back control - full fan speed

    Hello
I've been Googling autour for a bit now, looking for a solution to what could be a hardware problem.

Randomly my Satellite R830 suddenly freezes and the speed of the fan running at full speed. It's actually a useful way to be immediately aware that my computer crashed. Everything is frozen, the only way out is to force via the power button.

I hit the same description on several Web site for different models of Toshiba, return of 2009. It seems that the problem is still there! I also read testimonials from this problem for Windows and Linux OS. I use a Debian Squeeze, which does not detect the newspaper when the accident occurred.

Sometimes it can be fine for a week, but recently, the computer freeze at least once a day, which is not acceptable for a new laptop.

I am really getting concerned if something will be done soon, or if I should ask for an Exchange and pray to be spared. I use my laptop on a daily basis for professional use, and so I would definitely prefer another solution. I have been waiting for 4 months now and just update my BIOS 3 days ago from Web site of Toshiba with no noticeable improvement. the computer crashed 4 times in the last 2 days.

If someone managed to overcome this problem, I would be very grateful for the tip!

    Hello

A question: do you have a fingerprint reader?

I got this Toshiba document that describes a problem similar to yours.
This problem can be caused by old fingerprint software you need to update this software where you have a fingerprint reader.

  • Problem with keyboard with T410

    Hello

    For your information:

for the last 4 months, I have a T410. The laptop came with pre-installed win7. Currently it runs also Debian Squeeze in dual boot.

    The problem:

In the last few days I have a behavior strange experierenced of the keyboard integrated. The c and e keys d seem to trigger the bad events. e a for example increases the volume, mute d. First of all, the problem is sporadic, so I even if it is caused by dirt or something similar, but currently it is not possible to work on the laptop without an external keyboard (which works fine). I think a bad configuration of the keyboard layout can be deleted, because the behavior is on both systems. Maybe some else has experienced this problem and can help me? I need the laptop for my studies - thus given to maintanance is the worst solution.

Then I would do market and randomly, it starts normally. Then will he charge system works very well. I use Debian Squeeze OS, but think there regardless of the installed system. I think there BIOS problem or a power problem. I know it's hard to help me with this, but hope someone know approximate reason and do me a favor to give a hint.

Not exactly. The video chip is on what is called ball grid array. As the chip is overheating and cools down, the connections to the motherboard (i.e. Bay) become brittle and break off, so that there is no full contact with the circuit of the motherboard. It can be "reorganized" so that it becomes liquid and all connection again by applying heat evenly. The trick is to do it at the right temperature and to monitor the process. It can be done by the motherboard in the oven just cooking, but it is not reliable. It works best when you have real expensive equipment, but which does not improve with real expensive equipment?

  • initializing iSCSI SAN in VMWare Workstation 9

    Hi all!

I created an iSCSI Target (Debian Wheezy) and an iSCSI Initiator (CentOS 6). Installation of netinstall (of CentOS) on eth0 to LUN0 on eth1 worked very well. Adjusted BIOS on VMWare to boot from first e1000. At startup, the operating system tries immediately PXE boot, iSCSI not...

Any big brain here know what I'm doing wrong? I got about 16 hours sunk trying to develop this project, so any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for your time!

Here is the answer to my problem: VMWare Workstation 9 does not support iSCSI boot.  It requires 'PXE chainloading', where a gPXE (or iPXE), PXE loads image gives VMWare PXE allows to start an iSCSI target.  Here are some valuable pages, I found on the subject, even if none show my specific "PXE boot CentOS of Debian iSCSI in VMWare Workstation 9"... guess I am the only one to write this tutorial!
