Defaults to black ink only - Officejet Pro 8500

Printer: Officejet Pro 8500 wireless

Windows 7-64 bit

I would like to install my printer on black only and if I want to print color, I have to select.  Is this possible?

Currently, when I print a color document and wants to black ink only I have to go to the driver properties and then select black ink only.  I want to change that.

Thanks in advance.

See you soon,.

Mike

It can be defined as follows: click Start, devices and printers.  Right-click on the Officejet 8500 and select Printing Preferences.  Select the options you want, and then click on apply.

    Hello

AirPrint does not support black ink only printing, however the HP ePrint app allows it.

Note that the option is available only for documents (for example Office, PDF, Web pages and emails files), but not for the Photo files.

  • Failure to supply ink message Officejet Pro 8500 has

I have a 8500 has only a few months, on an iMac.  I have frequent printing problems where the print queue shows the message "failure of ink.  When I power cycle the printer, it almost always clears the error and the print job goes by, and I can print multiple jobs immediately without problem.  So next time rather than later, I need to turn it and turn it on again.

Any idea what's going on?  Is it a faulty print head, as some research suggests?  If so, I guess I need a warranty replacement...

Oh, oops, I thought the 8500.  Too many models .

    Here are a few ideas:

    1. remove all the ink cartridges.  Raise the lever on the right side of the cart and remove the printhead.  Make sure that the electrical contacts are clean on the print head and transport.  All reinsert and try again.

    2. soft reset of the printer: turn off the power.  Turn off the power at the back of the printer for 2 minutes.  Plug in and turn on.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910: why can I only print in black when a color cartridge is empty?

my yellow ink is empty.  I have a new 8610 to install but to print in black only to use this ink.

The Officejet Pro 8500 (like the Officejet Pro 8610) has separate printheads and ink supplies, with "plumbing" to connect.  You have color ink available to keep the print head and plumbing butcher, even if you are printing black only (and in your case you don't care is if the color print heads clogged).

See here for more information on how the ink is used.  Officejet Pro printers are IIC in the terminology of this document.

I have an Officejet Pro 8500 a printer. When I print documents, it will not print anything in black ink. The colors work very well, but just black will not print. • OfficeJet Pro 8500 909 a-. do not reset ink level

Hi, I have an officejet pro 8500 and I have a problem has a simple solution, I hope! I put it in a new black 940XL high capacity cartridge anhd the LCD screen on the printer and the solution center monitor always shows an explaination (!) mark. This indicates that the ink is close to finishing. In the HP Solution Center, it also shows that the ink level is very low. I can only assume that the printer still think it's the old cartridge. Is there a way that it can be reset, so the printer recognizes that it has a full cartridge?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Ian

Ok! In desperation I put in another cartridge and everything works.

Obviously some kind of flaw with the cartridge. I'll take it back to the store when I can

    Thanks anyway

  • Cyan is not printing on HP Officejet Pro 8500 has more - Air bubbles in the ink tubes

    Hi all

I know why cyan is not printing.  It is because of the following:

Ago, I ran out of ink cyan printing ("please replace cyan before continuing").  I live in a remote area and was not able to buy a replacement cyan cartridge, so I read on a hack on the Internet, that was to fool the printer into thinking that the cyan cartridge remained inside ink (just basically restricting the measure gauge so that it read the Full cartridge).  I did it because I had a print document that requires only the black ink, so I knew that this wouldn't be a problem.  Then life happened and I completely forgot my little shortcut, and my wife printed a number of color photos.  I finally had time to cartridges, and I now understood that cyan is not print at all.  I have now opened up the printer and realize that the cyan ink tube is full of bubbles...

I tried to fix this by printing A4 pages that are for the most part, cyan, but without success.  I even tried to put pressure on the ink cartridge cyan in order to flood the cyan ink tubes - also, it does not work.  I read somewhere that there is a way to actually get some printers to pump tubes with ink, is - it possible on the Officejet Pro 8500 has more?

Of course, I did all the tools that are pre-set to the arsenal of 8500, but still no luck.

I know I'm in the situation I am purely because I don't use the device as intended, and people that no one is to blame but me, but I'd appreciate any help you could provide.

    Thank you

    John

John, looks like you have a problem with the ink system. Unfortunately, what it looks like happened here, is that your ink nozzle, tubing and probably-print head have put dry for cyan. Work around is pretty neat, but it really is only recommended for a very temporary solution. If the ink has dried in the piping, but elsewhere in the printer then can be a decent chance that this printer will be not likely reprint the cyan. You can try to run the automatic cleaning process (up to three times I would say) via the Tools menu in the Setup (the wrench).

In addition, I'm not sure that this will be a question that has a simple resolution. Apologies, John.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500 depleted a color ink cartridges - printer will print not except if replaced

When one of my color ink cartridges is empty ink, my printer does not print until the ink cartridge is replaced.  Of course, I go out and buy new and install it then get the message that another cartridge needs to be replaced!

I only print in black ink in all cases.  Is it possible to print only black ink without replacing color cartridges are empty ink?

In addition, if a color is exhausted, I should automaticall replace all color cartridges?

    Operating system: Windows XP

Officejet 8500 printers individual ink cartridges (IIC); This machine requires that all cartridges to be installed to ensure that the printhead not damaged. In the printer, the ink is used not only for printing, but retain the printer and the print head. We can reduce the amount of color ink, the printer uses by changing the print in grayscale settings or use black ink only. Page 34 of the Manual shows how to change these settings when you print the documents. For more information on how the ink is used in the printer; It can be considered as this page here where he goes into detail about the different ways that ink is used in the printer.
I would just replace the color cartridge the printer says needs replacement when the machine alerts you of low ink. I would replace all the colors at a time when only needs replacement.
    I hope this helps.

  • Print in black ink only - HP Officejet 6600

I have a printer HP Officejet 6600.  Is there a way to set the default value of print in black ink only?  Currently, I have to do it every time I print a document in the office/computer laptop preferences.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 a: printers print only after the new cartridges installed

    Hey @janh1058,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.  I hope you enjoy your experience here.

I understand that e-all-in-one-HP Officejet Pro 8500 a your printer is printing is no longer.  I would like to work with you on this. I have a few suggestions that might restore your printing capabilities.

It could be that the long period of inactivity of dormancy has dried the print head, even if you have made the right choice in leaving the cartridges installed in the printer.  I recommend you try the following basic troubleshooting steps before embarking on a manual print head cleaning more intensive:

    • Click here and clean the printhead automatically via the front panel of the printer, as shown in the second Solution.
    • Repeat three times if you still have print quality issues.
    • Remove and reinsert the cartridges once more with the printer to force the printer to print a different allignment page.
    • This to improve the print quality?

If you use always the same question, I have a few more advanced troubleshooting tips:
