Defective touchpad

touchscreen only responds in the lower left corner of the touchpad

Sounds like your laptop must be checked by an authorized repair shop. Check with your manufacturer to see how to get there.

    Thank you, John.

    Hello

Have you tried to reinstall the driver for the touchpad and the utility?
But it could also be a hardware malfunction.
One of my friends had a similar problem. One day, it was not possible to get the touchpad under control. The cursor has jumped and it was not possible to do anything.

    Hello

The left button touchpad on my laptop has stopped working properly and does not correctly seated.
The button hinge seems disintegrated. Where can I get spare parts?

The model is a Satellite L300-1AQ and is only 27 months old and is slightly used - surely, laptop Toshiba computers are designed to last longer than that...

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with Timox. The best place for spare parts here an authorized service provider because they can order all the parts of Toshiba and make you a good offer.

In your case, I recommend you guys and ask for assistance and how much it would cost, etc. Here is their list:

  • Defective touchpad (Synaptics) and slow computer after extended use (memory leak)

Two problems have been caused with my HP Split 2 x since I bought it 2 months ago:

    (1) the touchpad works sometimes for a few seconds, while the touchscreen still work OK.

    (2) the computer becomes slow after a while of use (which varies from a few minutes to a few hours usually). The Task Manager shows 98%-99% of memory, most of which use (3.6 GB / 4 GB) are not paged memory.

I suspect the two issues are related to a faulty Synaptics driver, according to:

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/envy-X2-non-paged-pool-memory-l...

    and http://forum.notebookreview.com/razer/731374-memory-leak-synaptics-driver.html .

I did the same test as the second link with the same result: Open "Task Manager" (Ctrl-Shift-Esc), on the 'Performance' tab, select 'memory '. Note the value for "Non paged memory. If I move the touchpad, it increases to about 1 MB every 5 seconds. If I stop moving, the value remains constant.

I use the preinstalled Synaptics driver, version 17.0.10.9 (Sep 06, 2013) for 64-bit 8.1 window.

Everyone has the same problem, or use it without these issues?

I would like to know if a restoration system or factory reset may fix.

    FINALLY!

Microsoft has just released an update for Synaptics Driver, not thanks to HP which has not found a way to provide the possible Synaptics driver as an OEM update.

Update Windows Update to Sypatics HD TouchPad two days ago, but I would not be allowed to install as it kept then mainly in giving the 800F0100 error Code. After some research on the Internet I could find that an installation manual after the WU has downloaded the driver would be possible.

So I went to the Device Manager > mice and other pointing devices > TouchPad Synaptics HID > properties > driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for driver software and shown the finger/windows/C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution/Download and everything worked like a charm = D

I have no more memory leak and now after SEVEN MONTHS I finally can use gestures that it was supposed to.

But I still annoyed gel problems which in my case is a dysfunction between the screen and the dock.

Just that you wanted the guys at Microsoft to know is the solution, not the HP that would have had if they have signed and put the driver since November last at our disposal. Blame it on you, HP.

  • Equium P300-16 t with Synaptics touchpad. Stuck left button?

    Hi all

I have an Equium P300-16 t with a Synaptics touchpad.
A few months back I had the following problem. As soon as I touch the touchpad or the left/right button, the icon will appear to show the button on the left as being depressed; It would be nice up to this point. I've updated the drivers, tried a system restore, checked under the button of touchpad for obstruction etc and nothing has changed.
I made a completely new reinstall of Windows... still the same problem. Suspected a defective touchpad, so I contacted Topaz for a replacement touchpad mounted that and still the same problem.

so... after having eliminated defective drivers/software/hardware, I'm out of ideas. Is there anything else I can check?

Works very well with a USB mouse.

    Thank you

    James

    > As soon as I touch the touchpad or the left/right button, the icon will appear to show the button on the left as being depressed; It would be nice up to this point

I think you should check the settings.
In Control Panel-> mouse-> last (Advanced) tab-> the Advanced Settings button

Here, you should be able to get all the parameters of the touchpad.
In my case, I found interesting feature in the speed of the pointer and typing parameters.

There is a charming area of tape, and if you enable registration you could get access to other environments of tapping.
The option is called DragLock in my case that his automatic release and auto release delay value is set on the court.
    Recommend you check this!

  • Touchpad problem (Aspire v5 - 572 G)

    Hello

So, my keyboard works very well, and whenever I start my computer to be fully closed, my touchpad works fine until I connected and my account fully boots. After this, toggle the touchpad on and outside does nothing and I tried to go to the Acer Recovery Manager and re - install the driver and restart and the same thing is past. At the login screen the touchpad works, and once connected, it runs for about 5 to 10 seconds and then no longer works. If I start up the computer from sleep mode it does not at all at any time. Anyone got any ideas?

    Very appreciated

If you have upgraded to Windows 8.1, the driver of recovery will not be the correct driver. You need the driver of 8.1.

If this does not work, you can make a recovery of the factory, which, I believe, he returned to Windows 8, and it will probably work again.

If this does not work, you may have a defective touchpad / broken.

  • Paved touch glass separating it from the body of the touchpad.

Hi everyone, new user touchpad/webOS here.

My new 32 GB touchpad seems to have a flaw. The glass screen is separate from the rest of the body. I phoned the free Butler service and spoke to a representative on Wednesday afternoon, who advised me to send pictures to show the problem and was told that I would hear within 24 hours of their receipt of my e-mail.

I received a reply this morning (Thursday) saying they received my email and will now work on my case, and I will be contacted when they have an update.

I waited patiently all day for an update with no luck. That's maybe ten hours later, more or less? Now maybe I don't understand the process, but surely it is a manufacturing defect and should be a simple matter of performance for a repair? I'm not quite sure of what is considering the delay I got only two days and the screen has begun to lift on the bottom of the touch pad near the Center Home button.

Please could someone advise me on the turnaround times for this kind of questions? My main concern at the moment, it is that even if I only got 2 days, my touchpad is sitting in the store that I bought since Saturday (they were trying to get a new one, one was commissioned as a replacement without a bit of luck). My 14 days money back guarantee window is short, especially with the end of next week.

If this stretches and I pass in front of the window of 14 days, would still be eligible for a refund on a defective touchpad, IE not only wear?

Also, should I send my return the whole box? That is to say... the brown box of white touchpad including all accessories in box up inside the outer box for a repair? I will answer all the accessories again when they send the a refurbished?

Apologies for dumb questions (maybe). I have virtually no experience with getting the items returned or replaced, so this is all new to me.

Thanks in advance for any advice people can give.

OK, finally I have the success I think!

After a discussion very unsuccessful online earlier this afternoon, I was reading how some people had gotten their touchpads, replaced by advanced unit warranty replacement service. I thought... what the heck... I'll try another web cat to see if the little guaranteed touchpad which includes or not.

Unfortunately, I told myself that no, this is not included in the warranty... Perhaps those of US in the United Kingdom do not understand that? Or maybe the firesale touchpads are not included... I'm not sure on this one. However, I have my history Patricia to relay and explain that I'm quite angry to says that I have to wait until 'during the next week', before I heard if I can send my touchpad in repair.

Long story short... after a long hours Webchat that lasted almost 40 minutes longer that they are supposed to be open (web chat closed at 17:30 in the United Kingdom according to the Palm support page), I now have my created Service repair order and a UPS box is sent to me with a prepaid label. Unfortunately, it will take 7-10 days, but at least they now send me a box to return in.

Score... I think so? Fingers crossed that all is well now, I have created real service order. I think I need a lie down!

  • Not honor the warranty / the TERRIBLE customer service

I'm so frustrated with HP "customer service." I will never buy an HP product again, due to their service horrible customer and the fact that HP is not to honor their guarantees or they make it extremely difficult to do.

I have a HP Pavilion 14-c015dx chromebook who has a defective touchpad and no HP helps me. (Intermittently, my touchpad doesn't work. The cursor/pointer begins to shake/vibrate making it almost impossible to click on what is expected and the scrolling feature freezes. In addition, a powerwash has not solved the problem.) I started calling a few weeks previously, while still under the one year warranty. HP told me that my chromebook was out of warranty. It was not the case. They had an incorrect purchase date. They told me to scan and send a proof of purchase. I did twice, to two different and two e-mail addresses. I was told my chromebook could be repaired and wait for that box to ship it in in. I have an order number BFBB4515, but I got nothing. According to the status of the command line, it is said, awaiting customer action.  We was told by one of the several people that I spoke he would personally that my problem would be solved, but refused to give me his full name. Now when I answer emails before, I had the customer service, I receive replies automated indicating my chromebook is longer under warranty and I can't get email support. I just called customer service, and he said that I still need to send my receipt as proof of purchase. SERIOUSLY? HP, you are doing terrible business by making it so difficult for people to get their problems fixed. And shame on you for not honor your warranty.

  • While typing my mouse jumps in Outlook, the menus appear as if by magic...

I have a new problem, for the most part in Outlook, but not totally.  When I type, e-mail address or mail content menus as magically appear and stop my typing.  As I try to select items in the top menu bar, the other menus appear.  Everywhere I go that my slider menus appear.  I can not any work done as they stop at my ability to type.  Some are just the menu formatting, some bring new dialog boxes, some are menus, I've ever seen.

I restarted Outlook, the computer, it doesn't seem to help.

I looked at my touch pad settings, mouse settings, but I don't see anything that looks like, I should change...

    Thanks for ALL THE ideas.

Try to disable the touchpad while you type. If this does not help, then maybe you have a defective touchpad. Contact technical support of computer laptop mftr. for the repair. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

A friend was recently given a new still in box of Compaq Presario C727US. He had apparently no difficulty to use it at the beginning because it has setup the laptop and because it a password. The next day however when he tried to start and use his laptop the keyboard and touch pad were insensitive. I tried to do a "Hard Reset" that I found at another URL which was to remove the two power supplies and hold the power button for 1 minute.

I am currently at a loss and on to start my Internet search a solution for this. The touch pads showing that he has a power is turned on, but it remains insensitive. I thought initially to be pilots as the laptop is also insensitive to my keyboard and usb mouse.

If someone could point me in the right direction, I'd be very happy.

    Hello @Stoopidsagee ,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that the touchpad does not work on a Compaq Presario C727US friends ntoebook.

Can you tell me if they are still using the preinstalled Windows Vista, or if they changed the operating system to a newer Windows 7 or Windows 8/8.1?

In the meantime, you can find the drivers for the touchpad here: Compaq Presario C727US Notebook PC drivers.

As you can see, the only driver available for this laptop is for Windows Vista so if the operating system has been changed there is no promise it will work. The fact of a USB keyboard or mouse do not work is a sign of lack of chipset or USB hub drivers and would not be associated with a defective touchpad.

I can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • mouse pad does not work anymore

    Hello

I had to take my laptop to Best Buy three times already in the last month because it stops just to work.  They insisted it was not a problem of HP or material and suggested that contact Microsoft because their suspicions, it's when a certain update comes through, it will start on the cushion.  Could this be true?  And, if so, why is that happening?  I don't know what specifically does update, nor do I have the time to find out.  In addition, I don't want to update the drivers EVERY TIME that happens to get my pad works again.  This is ridiculous.  I didn't buy this laptop with an eventuality I have to constantly update the drivers when Microsoft sends updates.

    Please notify.

    Thank you.

    TERI

    Hello

You can contact HP directly, if it is still under warranty factory... usually 1 year... They may be able to help without worrying because you have a warranty extended through BestBuy.

I have just returned your laptop to HP for touchpad\mousepad problems...

My question is a little different in this mine worked, but did not work properly...

When I tried to move the pointer, he'd try to scroll instead, or bring up the right-click menu.

Sensitivity fluctuate wildly from extremely sensitive, to the point that tapping on it would not make a selection, and I have to use a button...

Your most likely machine uses a Synaptics Touchpad. I tried all the drivers available. Some work better than others, but all have the same problem.

A HP technician informed me that it was probably a defective touchpad, or possibly to the main Board of the laptop...  The touchpad feels a bit distorted, as it has a hump in the Center...

It is with Windows 7 Pro SP1, not of Windows 8 and before Windows updates have been installed.

It is possible that Win 8 is somehow causing the problem, but my guess is that it's a hardware problem like mine.

For one thing... If the cushion sensor sends the wrong signal drivers not detect properly.

Sometimes reinstalling drivers will fix it temporarily, but it will not happen...

BTW... There is a setting that activates the light or not. Even if the light goes out it comes on briefly when you start the machine, and then after maybe 30 seconds it turns off... It is a function of energy saving do not use light.

Try to uninstall the drivers and restart the computer... It will then use Microsoft drivers instead of the custom. None of the gestures will work, but the pointer and buttons should... just as a test.

You can also consider getting a USB mouse, if it isn't to inconveinent. At least until you get a fix.

  • the touchpad on the generation of apple tv 4 does not swipe

Just unpacked my generation Apple tv 4 refurb.  I gave the remote control a short load before you try set up.  I was able to pair the remote control but the touchpad does not respond to the finger swipes. There is no way to make selections.  I was able to use my mini iPad to Setup wifi, apple store and iCloud.  When asked to allow location services there is no way to select my choice.  Also on the built-in keyboard I can click but not drag to select the letters.  Looks like a defective remote to me.  All opinions. ?

Charge for about three hours. If the remote control is correctly associated with ATV, but the touchpad stil does not work, get it replaced.

  • How to disable the touchpad disabled?

I just got this laptop and it's driving crazy me.

I tap on the touchpad, and I touched the area where you can disable the touchpad about 1,000 times a day. No matter if I do what he says, I can't that faucet back on.

I press the windows on my KB.  Type mouse into the search bar.  Tab and then arrow key over to reactivate and it's driving me crazy! I use this for business, but also personal use.

I see you where you can disable the touchpad, I don't want that.  I want to disable the zone of the touchpad where you tap enable and disable.  It is a defect of design for me.

Thanks for any help that can be provided.

    Hello stillrivers,

I see you are having a problem with the touchpad does not disable. Did you by chance a look at the post which explains how to disable the touchpad?

If you do not have by chance I'll re-post the answer here:

    To do this...

    Go to the control panel.

    ·         Go to mouse properties windows and click on device settings

    ·         Highlight the Synaptic Touchpad and click settings

    ·         In the properties of Synaptic Touchpad Windows on the left and the Panel you will see Touchpad Disable Zone, click it.

    ·         Uncheck the box 'double-tap to activate or disable the Touchpad'

    ·         Click OK

If this does not work by chance, let me know. Also, if you have any questions please ask me.
