  I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 with a built-in webcam. It came with Vista but I upgraded to a Windows 7 64-bit. The webcam used to work at the beginning. I don't know why but one day it stopped working and never worked more. I looked everywhere on the internet means and tried a lot of ways, and it still does not work. Device Manager identifies as "Unknown device" and identifies it as a USB Bus controller. I tried to uninstall it and always allow to detect, but it detects as unknown device. I also tried to reinstall the driver, the vista one because it doesn't have a windows 7 one. What this did was uninstall the old and tried to install a new one (which is the same). But the thing is, it does not work. He'll try to install it and then a message saying "an error has occurred in the installation of the driver" or something like that and then it does not work. I ended up having to run the system restore to recover the pilot. I tried many ways and still does not work. Even the average USB cable. I have been using a USB mouse. I even plugged the USB cable in all my USB ports and it did not work. I tried to connect is not in what either too and it does not work either. I can't even ask Dell to help cause there is nothing to support that I can get. And my drivers are all up to date. Can someone help me solve this problem?

  Thank you for posting.

  At this point, I suggest you to contact Dell to see if the compatible device in Windows 7.

  If this is the case, they must provide you with a driver that will correctly identify and install the unit.

  You can also ask them if another device, like a USB joystick, needs a driver to be able to identify the material of the webcam and install it correctly.

  With Windows 7 webcam driver should get installed automatically. It might be the Webcam Application that does not work properly. Try to uninstall the Webcam of the System Manager (Control Panel, programs and features, select Manager of Webcam, click on uninstall).

  I use a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop since 2008 and now the webcam is not working. I noticed that when I turned on the laptop, I get a flashlight blue color on the left side of the webcam, but now I do not understand that the blinking light. I installed the drivers from the dell support center webcam, but still it does not work. I bought this from a GCC country & now I'm in Sri Lanka, so I'm in two minds whether to get this repaired here or no reasoning that I don't know somewhere appropriate here.   I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a built-in microphone. I run on vista. The microphone is not picking up my voice. I went to the control panel. I have made sure it is activated, and all volumes are rising. It is said that SigmaTel Microphone Array works, but that's not true. I also uninstalled and then reinstalled the SigmaTel driver. I did a system restore and that didn't help. The speech recognition does not pick up my voice either. All other sounds work fine, I built in Webcam which works very well, except for the record. But who is also defined on such sigma with all volumes upward. I've had this computer for over a year and the microphone used to work, I think that when I updated something she decided to not work. But I really need my microphone to work, and I am really frustrated because I can't use it. ANY advice would be appreciated thanks!

  Control Panel - SOUNDS - Audio peripheral devices configuration-manager

  Make sure you write down the description and model double click top - tab drivers - write version. Now
  Click on update drivers who cannot do anything like MS is far behind the certification of drivers. Then RIGHT
  CLICK above and UNINSTALL - REBOOT - this will rebuild the driver stack.

  If your driver shows 06 you have the default windows and part of the question.

  Go to the system manufacturer's website and get the latest Audio/Sound drivers - download - SAVE - go to the place where you
  Put them - right click on Reboot - RUN AS ADMIN -.

  Check the Version on the tab of the driver in the device as a sound Manager often restoring drivers, then install
  the current version. Restart and check after each try, not uncommon to have to run the pilot of 1 to 4 times or more.
  Just make sure that the version you have installed appears in the tab of the driver.

  Then navigate to the site of the manufacturer of the device and search for the drivers more recent and repeat the installation procedure.

  The drivers you need are on your disk drivers that came with your computer.

  If you do not have the drivers disk, you can download the drivers from Dell drivers & downloads, then copy on a USB key or drive and install from there.

  Can someone tell me how to disable "tap to click" on the touchpad of my laptop?

  I have a Dell Inspiron 1525, running Windows Vista.  It's the standard touchpad I mind, it has not been upgraded.

  Other forums have suggested to go to the control panel > hardware and sound > mouse, but once I'm there, I only "buttons," "Pointers," "Pointer Options" and "hardware".  There is no option to disable "Tap to click" referred to one of them.

  I've updated all the drivers - Windows tells me I have the latest version, if this doesn't fix the problem.

  My hands are too big to type without hitting the touchpad!  So frustrating.  I accidentally moved my slider three times during the composition of this post.  Someone help me please!  That's four times now.

  Under computer > C: > drivers > entry > R176423, I ran DPInst.  He installed the Dell Touchpad option in my taskbar to bottom left.  After the reboot, I was able to open a more in-depth version of my touchpad, where I could uncheck "Tap to click".  _ Yes!

• Unable to connect to a wireless network with Dell Inspiron 1525 with Vista

  I set up a wireless about a week ago and have done with the following security features: WEP, activate only certain MAC address to connect and disabled to broadcast the SSID.  I was able to use it very well with my Mac computer using the airport, but when I tried to connect my roommates, a dell inspiron 1525 with vista computer, it can not connect.  I can locate the network but when I try to connect to the network, I get a message saying that for a Windows cannot connect to the network and that the wireless link has failed for unknown reasons.  He then said to contact your administrator, but it's me.  I have a basic knowledge of computers just enough to be dangerous and basically know what I'm going along.  If anyone has any advice for me, my roommate and I'll be very grateful.
