    Hello

I have a Satellite M50 - mx5 with a carpet * a DVD player. When I insert the CD or DVD, the player starts, turns the CD autour (the indicator light flashes)... but a few seconds later, the drive stops turning, but the DVD drive light is on.

Windows also think that the DVD drive is empty.
I also tried to boot Windows from the CD when the computer starts upward, but without success either.

Ideas for what is wrong? Is my DVD drive broken?

    Thank you

    Hello

Sorry to said but in my opinion, drive is dead and that the replacement allows the reader features can save.

But be aware that not every drive is supported and can be used with the laptop!
Take a look in the user manual. Sometimes the compatible players are listed.
And it s useful to know that all parts can be ordered from the ASP in your country.

    Hi all

Recently I have problems with my DVD drive. It will not read the DVD when they are inserted and when I try to see through Windows Explorer, I am asked to insert a disc.

The drawer opens and closes and I hear work but it does not recognize the discs.

I believe that the optics are good, because it works very well and will autostart and play a cd when inserted.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Combo DVD/CD DVD drive don't read not more, still reads CDs

I just popped a DVD in a CD/DVD combo drive that I use for years and he refuses to acknowledge that there is nothing on the disc.
It also seems to take a lot of time to ride.

I tried Device Manager and the "driver update", but it says that I have the best driver.

I use this drive for CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo for years and there has not been a problem. I tried several DVD-Rs serious and two commercial DVD movie discs and I get the same results as in this picture

However, I have also tried several CD - r both music and audio and he recognizes them perfectly.
I also tested the DVD in my computer Windows 7, and he recognizes them without problem. I was able to open a text file on the data DVD and see a few seconds of a film before I closed it.

I don't remember the last time I watched a DVD movie, and I think the last time I used a DVD on this computer was when I played Gate II of Baldur's, which according to the files recording was in June since I played something on CD instead.
I only burned both DVD of Baldur Gate I, II, Planescape Tormenet and Final Fantasy VII and VIII of the CED for this old computer (it came with Windows 98SE, it is NOT a new system), so it is not difficult to determine when I finally used a DVD on it.

I have not noticed problems in using the drive as a CD drive, but haven't used the cd burner appearance or the appearance of DVD player in several months. I generally use DVD data on a newer Windows 7 computer and only use it for a few old games or music that normally use the CD, even if it's the main goal is to share my parallel printer with the new Windows 7 system that does not have a parallel port and a central server for my curriculum vitae cover letters and anything else I might want to access it from my modern desktop or laptop computer.

I think it was more of a hardware issue, if it wasn't for the fact that it is reading CD without problem.

P.S. I broke out the CD/DVD cleaner lens and it has no effect.

    Hello.

As the PML said readers use different lasers for different drives.  I encountered this problem several times and replace the drive is your only option.

  • Satellite A215-S7437 hard drive don't read do not

Whenever I put a CD in my CD drive, I heard the "rurr" that usually accompanies the normal sound of the hard drive working group work.

But lately, it makes this noise, but does not read the CD at all either. I searched the download and support already - suggestions?

I tried searching the base drivers / default on the driver download page, but they don't have em = / and restore the disc definitely out of the question since "broken" car

Hmmm. Entendez_ you the ODD (CD/DVD drive) is not able to read disks from different manufacturers; CD (+ R R + RW - RW) or DVD (+ R R, + RW - RW)?

If Yes, then the CD/DVD drive failure would be possible!
If this is the case, then you will need to replace the CD/DVD drive

  • Computer router via ethernet don't read do not?

My family and I recently bought a new computer.  On our computer that we have replaced with a new one, we had our router WRT54G connected via an ethernet cable.  I plugged the cable on the new computer, he knows he's here because when you plug in a light turns on.  And if I'm right, I should get internet access immediately.  My ADSL modem is turned on, my WRT54G is turned on, all the lights that must be strong are strong even for the DSL modem and the router.  On the router, under 'Ethernet' 1 light is solid.  If you disconnect the ethernet cable from the desktop computer, it turns off.  If the router is read.  I can always get our laptop internet access and our Nintendo Wii console.  But not from the office.  I read articles from the internet, and it seems once I have connect the cable on the computer, a conection area should appear under "Network connections" and I should have access to the internet.  But there is no connection in there.  My guess is that the computer for some reason any cannot read the router.  I installed LELA and he tells me that it cannot find the router.  We called Windstream (our ISP) and they said that we have to ask what to do Linksys.

    Any help would be appreciated...

As you mentioned, you are not able to see "Connecting to the Local network" under the network connection, then it means that the drivers for the network adapter is not installed on your computer...

Click your computer on start - RUN - devmgmt.msg, and then click OK. In the Device Manager list control if you are able to find the 'Ethernet controller' in the other devices section, if yes, then with your PC, you must have obtained the medallion of the driver installation disk installation disc in your computer and then right-click on Ethernet controller and click Update driver and click Next... Next... Finishing... Once the drivers are correctly installed on your computer then you can check if you are online from your computer.

  • DVD RW drive (e :)) don't read do not all disks)

I have a Dell Studio Windows Vista. The DVD RW drive (e :)) does not.) Regardless of the type of disc that I put in, my DVD player does not recognize. When I go to 'My Computer' to open the disc manually, a message appears telling me to insert a disc, even if it is already inside. In addition, when this message appears, it ejects the disc I have here. I did everything. My computer is up to date. You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly. Since it accepts no disc do not forget to remove ALL the power and control the
cable connections - remove and replace (at both ends where possible).

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

What can I do to fix this?

    Karen Osborn

    Hi Karen,.

For a better understanding of the issue, I would need more information on your side.

    1. Do you have an error message when you start the computer?
    2. Did you the latest changes on the computer before this problem?

This problem might have occurred because of these reasons:

    1. due to conflicts between external devices.

    2. due to conflicts between the third-party applications.

Try the steps listed here and see if it helps:

    Method 1:
I suggest to unplug all external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard. Check if it helps.

    Method 2:
If the problem persists, I suggest you to download and install all Windows updates available including the optional updates and check if it helps. You can also download and install the latest device drivers for all devices on the computer and check if it helps.

    Method 3:
If the problem persists, I suggest to start the computer using safe mode and check if the problem occurs or not. If this isn't the case, the value of the computer in a clean boot state and check if that helps.

    Step 1:
I suggest you to return the item to start the computer in Mode safe.

Start settings for Windows (including safe mode)

    Step 2:
If the issue happen not in Mode without failure, perform a clean boot and check.

Setting the system in a clean boot state will help you determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem.

How to perform a clean boot for a problem in Windows

Note: After the clean boot troubleshooting steps, see the "How to reset the computer to start as usual after a clean boot troubleshooting" section in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Hope this information helps. Answer the post with an up-to-date issue report to help you further.
