Deny access to a file server

Hello people, I am the support COMPUTER engineer, I need your help please. In the network of our field, we have a Buffalo NAS for file sharing, some are protected by password and others do not, a staff member recently attempted a protected access folder and confused with the password, then she had refused access to the entire file server; the question is now, it cannot access any folders shared with current PC sound but with the other PC is correct... I can give her PC to another, but it is really annoying and disruption to the movement of data and the staff seems to be so in love with his current PC. can you help me solve this problem. I think there is a way, this can be solved... you guys to like

This issue is beyond the scope of this site (for consumers) and to be sure, you get the best (and fastest) reply, we have to ask either on Technet (for IT Pro) or MSDN (for developers)

    Hello

I need be able to deny access to the file manager, as I don't want my client, deleting files. However, for some reason, I have to allow him access to what he should be able to download files via InContext Editor (he needs to link the pages to documents that are not on the server so he needs to download and do it, I have to grant access to the file manager).  How can I get around this?  I don't want to reupload the site whenever it deletes a file...

Unfortunately we can not do - file manager access to removal as well as download and at this stage that cannot be changed.

    ·         What is the operating system installed on the computer?

If you receive no error message indicating that access is denied, take the permissions on the drive and check if it helps.

    a. right click on the external hard drive, and then select Properties.

    b. click on the Security tab, select the user name and click on modify.

    c. now, click Add and type the user name that you want to grant permissions to sub enter the names of the objects to select, and then click on check names. Click OK.

    d. now, select the user name you typed in group or user names and check full control under the terms of the authorization for.

    e. click on apply and OK. Check whether the problem exists.

  • Administrator to deny access to the file

I am running Windows Vista Home Basic with service pack 2.  As an administrator I am frequently refused access to certain folders, e.g., data application.  I thought that the administrator has access to all folders on the computer.  Is this something common to the basic family version?

No, it is new with Vista.  Even administrators do have access to some system, junction points files and folders even in their own profiles to prevent the problems of changes, deletions or additions which might cause problems (and even administrators don't know enough to work safely in these areas).  You can use permissions to work around these problems of access; However, I would just leave them alone because most of the time (except if it is advised by Microsoft Support) there is no reason to be in these places.  It is a big change in XP where access was essentially unlimited, but just adjust in Vista.  It is not only your version but in all versions.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I am the owner of everything on my pc I don't have special permissions for some individual files that I find quite strange. It also means that I can't delete some files. I tried to access the files when I started from a different hard drive, but still can not remove. While I followed all procedures to address this issue, I still do not end with special permissions. Is it possible to modify or delete the files from the MS DOS window or is there something that I am missing. I also found it seems to be an 'unknown user' in the permissions area, and when I try to delete or change this 'unknown user' and a second show. 1 then said who is denied access, but the other has access. No matter what I have I can not get rid of it! And file sharing is disabled disabled! Help, please

In Vista, many files can not even to administrators. Some are to protect the user from making mistakes (like many in the Windows directory and in your personal profile).  Some are points of junctionhttp://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb968829 (VS.85) .aspx which are there for backwards compatibility and should not be modified in any way (and certainly not deleted) or you may not be able to use your programs or may even damage the system to the point where it will need to be reinstalled).  You shouldn't need special permits to delete a file if you have all the rights, but special permissions can block access and that's sometimes how it blocks even administrators.  Keep in mind that XP administrators had access more than them in Vista - blocked is not necessarily a problem, but intentionally by developers of Vista.

However, if you're talking about files that you devriez have permission, then the following information about the ownership and permissions can help you.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

I hope this helps.  If this isn't the case, after return and we'll get the exact path of these files to make sure that you really can visit his profile and try adding special permissions.  I suspect that the problem is that everyone is denied access and blocking everyone - but we'll check (if necessary).

    Good luck!

  • To access folders and files when access denied

I try to change my hosts file in the window\system32\drivers\etc folder but am counsel that I was not allowed to save in this location. I also get access denied when you try to save in some files of program data. I have administrator rights but am not logged as an administrator or have a specific administrator account. There are other times I get the access denied message. I know I read that change the attributes or permissions or similar things on certain issues can cause problems, so would like to know what I can change to allow me to edit and save my hosts file as well as savings for some other issues are currently denied access.

    Thank you

    I could do this:

    1. Open Notepad as Administrator: clic click right on the Notepad icon, select "Run as Administrator" and confirm if prompted.
    2. In Notepad, click file > open and navigate to your ETC folder and open the HOSTS file.   Now you should be able to change it.

  • Drive access denied when opening PDF files

I noticed this on adobe Reader Versions XI and DC. What happens is whenever someone tries to open a pdf file that has name of file path is greater than 217 characters they will receive the error 'Access denied.' rename the file or move it to a path that has character < = 216 characters users can then open. If you try to save to the location it will appear to have saved, will throw any errors, does not save everything simply.

I upgraded the drive to the new generation of DC. Tested on a new installation of Windows 8.1, I had at my disposal and tested it on all computers 15ish which give the same result. With different PDF documents are both on the internet and made by me using
    Acrobat.

    A few notes.

This only happens on the network drives.

I have access to all the locations of readers, that I tested.

I had another user test this thus giving the same results.

If I add my UNC path name of the file instead of drive letters, the amount is greater than 254.

For example, if the path of the file is H:\My network Drive\Somearbitraryfolders\filename_Greaterthan217.pdf Its always less than the 254 that windows gives to us, but if I add my \\domain\public\drivename\Somearbitraryfolders\filename_Greaterthan217.pdf UNC path so this eqauls more than 254.

So even if I can move files to this location by going through drive letters, stick them in, all that Jazz. As the reader is concerned it is the limit of windows, and may not be able to do something with it.

If the Player looks at the UNC path instead of drive letters?

If so is there a way for him to watch the drive letters?

A quick edit. I just found this

Known issues | Acrobat DC, CD player

Problem: error access denied when you try to open the PDF file of the symlink via UNC path [3844582]

So, I'm going to assume that the answer to my question is no. All that I can do is hope for a update or tell my users not to do ridiculously long paths.

  • Application has permissions to add/file server-side streams

I installed the FMS on Linux.  I'm trying to record video from webcam to a flex application and save them server side, to a possible posting to YouTube.

I installed the 'live' application in the path "record".  In my flex code, I do:

    NC. Connect ("rtmp://ipaddr.us-west-1.compute.amazonaws.com/live/record");

It connects very well, so I have:

    NS. Publish ("camtest", "record");

It fails with NetStream.Record.NoAccess.  Server side, he said

Accepts a connection from IP:xx.xx.xx.xx, sponsor:, pageurl:
Application does not have permissions to add/file server-side streams; access denied to the camtest stream.

I have LIVE_DIR in my conf/fms.ini file in/mnt/live.  This directory exists and is writable, so I'm not sure what's going on.  Are there any other permission that I'm missing?  Is it just the wrong application?  That you used for registration of netstream?

    Thank you

    -jsd-

    Hello

Since you are using the developer version, you should be able to record. Just check the permission of the directory of the application that you created. Make sure you have permission to write to it.

    Thank you
