DEP and NVIDEA

Hello!

I use your Compaq Presario desktop with a 2.2 GHz AMD CPU and RAM are maxed out at 2 GB. The operating system is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, updated to SP3. It has a NVIDIA GeForce 6150 display adapter THE.

After the start-up of the PC to the top last night, I got 2 messages:

[MESSAGE #1

Window name: "Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows"

Message 1: "to help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program."

"" Message 2: "name: NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, Version 82.08.

Message 3: "Publisher: NVIDIA Corporation.

Options: 'change settings' and 'Close the Message.'

] END #1 MESSAGE

After clicking on the button "Close Message", the second message was:

[MESSAGE #2

Window name: "name: NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, Version 82.08.

Message 1: "NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, Version 82.08 ecountered

a problem and should be closed. »

Message 2: "this error occurred on 22/10/2013 at 06:31.

] END #2 MESSAGE

After checking the "properties/performance system Options/DEP tab, I noticed that the 'NVIDIA Driver Helper Service Version 82.08' checkbox is disabled.

I've never had no DEP error message before this one.  So far, the computer (seems to) work very well.

MY QUESTION IS: Does enter DEP 'ON' for the 'NVIDIA Driver Helper Service, service 82,08 "Version?

Thanks, Terry

I think it would be better to update NVIDIA graphics card driver:

http://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/57493/en-us

I would say to uninstall the currently installed driver before installing the new driver.

  • DEP and Windows Messenger, most other programs

Hello, I had a lot of problems with DEP closing of many of my programs, such as Windows Live Messenger, photo gallery, and Dell Support Center. I tried to turn off DEP, but that doesn't seem to work, because even if it is disabled, he always stop my programs. This is getting very frustrating. Thank you

    Hello elisabethrobillard,

There are three possible causes for why you can not add the application to the
    List of exceptions:
    1.) this is a 64-bit application.
(2.) the application is located in the Windows directory.
(3.) the application has been compiled for Vista and, therefore, the EPD is
    applied for it.

DEP is a feature that can be enabled or disabled, or configured.  However, it is not recommended to turn on DEP.

If you decide to completely turn off DEP, follow the instructions below.

    • Right click on my computer

    • Click on Properties

    • Click the Advanced tab

    • Click the settings button in thePerformance section

    • Click the Data Execution Prevention tab

Select the item titled "Turn on DEP for most programs Windows and services only". This effectively disables DEP for everything else so you can be open to attack.

      Please give an update.

      Thank you

-Drives internal hard how can I add in this system?

Here is a picture of the case.

    Thanks for your help!

Here are the specifications of your desktop HP Pavilion p6-2180ea. According to the specification, this model has room for a hard drive and an optical disc drive. You will not be able to 'Add' options of one of these components, but you can replace them with upgrades. 300 watts is not going to be enough for the HD 7770 and will be marginal with the GT 640. In addition, you can hurt ask graphics cards in this case 'mini '. You have to measure along the plane of the PCIe x 16 location at the back of the housing to the front until you hit an obstacle.

This system is not really designed for the upgrade and this can cause overheating.

  • Adobe reader and Windows XP Pro SP3 DEP

    OS is XP Pro.

Cannot print anything Adobe Reader now. This has never been a problem in the past. Tried updating to the latest version of Adobe Reader (9.3). This does not solve the problem.

Entered in the configuration of the DEP and Adobe added to the list of exceptions, but there is no help. Always impossible to print a PDF from Adobe Reader. Sent many error reports to Microsoft on this issue.

Never had a problem with it in the past.

It is a somewhat obscure question. Sorry it took a while to find. Some time ago I solved a similar problem with a XP machine. Here's how.

    http://www.USA.Canon.com/consumer/controller?Act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=239&ModelId=10516#DownloadDetailAct

    Click drivers and downloads.

Select XP as an operating system.

Of course, if you have another printer try to see the Web site of the manufacturer on DEP fix with the product concerned. This seems to be more related to Canon than others, so... it may be relevant.

  • Need help troubleshooting a Data Execution Prevention (DEP) related to Acrobat and scan edition.

Windows XP SP3, Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.2, TWAIN driver

I'm trying to find an answer to help someone else troubleshoot.

Thus, the user could be used successfully before, scan-to-function PDF Acrobat but now receives a DEP notice that says "To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program" and lists of Acrobat. Features of Acrobat with a DEP notice normally except when trying to analyze.

There has been no change other than an update to Acrobat (from 9.1.3 to 9.2 http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/500/cpsid_50026.html) and standard Windows updates known system. Checked all user XP updates been made, did a repair on the installation of Acrobat and checked that he was using the scanner the most recent driver.

The user disable DEP and everything works well. This fixes the problem, but open the computer to a potential attack.

Any suggestions on what to try? This could be a problem with the TWAIN driver? is their any way to check?
    Help appreciated - thank you!

  • DEP problem

I have Vista 64 bit machine and when I tried to install a game, I came across a DEP problem which I fixed it by putting a check in the "enable DEP for all programs and services except those I select:
I ran the game without any problems for 2 weeks or more.
But now, when I try to start the game, I get the same error DEP. So I went back to system properties and the area of the DEP performance options and I no longer have the choice of checking or unchecking, the two options in the Data Execution Prevention tab are grayed out.
Any idea what I can then?

  • error message "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close" on click with the right button in my computer

I had this problem for awhile now.  After I receive and send the error report my computer is blocked and I have to finish by WTM. I tried to start in safe mode and it was ok there and when I restarted in normal mode it was ok for the rest of the day, but when I put the computer today the problem reappeared. Dr. Watson is also sometimes with an error message.

I am running XP with MS and updates.

    Would appreciate some advice.

    Chris

When the Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) is wrong (especially when right click), begin to suspect third-party add-ons explore extension.

Those who would be the Explorer extensions that do not belong to Microsoft.  This means that extensions that you have added.  Solution Explorer extensions are generally well and installation of certain applications will install extensions from Explorer solutions for you, give you a choice and sometimes they can be added without your knowledge when you install the new software.

Solution Explorer extensions are sometimes added as a new right-click option, you see on folders and files (like the scan of this file, open that file, play this song...).

If there is something in particular that you do during exploration that you know will be the cause of the problem, which will help focus on the problem and the help that you suddenly know, when you have found and corrected.  If you can get there when you want it, make an adjustment and then there is no message the next time you don't do anything, you do, you have found and corrected.

First of all you need a way to see what modules explore you have installed now and a way to turn them off (not uninstall them) so you can understand that we are at the origin of the problem.  You can have a lot of extensions not installed Microsoft don't even know you about.

Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.

After launching ShellExView, under Options, choose "Mark non-Microsoft Extensions" and extensions not Microsoft will be pink, clear, but on some systems which is a difficult color to see, so click on display, choose the columns and move the column Microsoft closer to the top, so you can see on your screen without having to scroll left and right.

Click on the column header for Microsoft sort display (by clicking on the column of Microsoft) then all the non Microsoft extensions are on top and easy to see.

Non-Microsoft extensions would be things you have added (non-Microsoft) and are what you should be suspect.

You can also Google the name of a suspect add-on and see if there is any success on the mistakes of the DEP and what other people have done about it.
    You can Google something like:

Explorer XP crashing (you must fill in the name of add your suspect on.)

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

I'm not a defender of trial and error, but I can't think of another way to do...

Right click and disable the non Microsoft extensions one at a time (or maybe in groups of 3-5 at a time), keep a list, so you can enable them again later if you wish. The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know that an extension of this group of 3-5 is the culprit in order to start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.

If you recognize all the extensions that have been added or recently downloaded, start with these first.

Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.  In this way, you can switch back and forth, enabled to be sure, you have the right extension under control.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again to make sure the changes 'stick '.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.

You can also just disable all non-Microsoft extensions, restart and allow them one at a time until you find the one that generates the condition.

If you have a large number of extensions, you can disable them is small groups, 3-5 at a time instead of 1 at a time until your system starts to behave.  When it does not, you will know that the problem is one of the extensions of this small group and you can enable members of the Group at a time until the problem returns, then the problem is with the last extension that you enabled.

The hope is that you will find an extension that caused the error, and then you can figure out what on this subject - either uninstall it or see if you can get an update of the author of the extension of their web page.

I have not your problem, but I can when you toggle extensions, the extension is immediately disabled, so disable an extension does not seem to require a restart, but if you think that you have found the problem, I reboot and repeat the test in any case to be sure the problem disappeared.

If you post your non-Microsoft extensions list, maybe someone will recognize it as a potential problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.

Please post a link to this Marilyn Microsoft engineer answer Support responses involving some registry maybe going to I can see that too.

Older versions of PowerDesk Pro 7.x are known to cause explore crash, so that the sounds on the right.

The current version of PowerDesk Pro is 8.5.

You might be able to get the old version to behave by disabling PowerDesk one shell extensions at a time until when you right-click Explorer no longer crashes.  This will leave you with limited functionality of PowerDesk since those afflicted extensions will be disabled, but you should not have these extensions to do anything, you need to make sheets.

I would start with the PowerDesk ZIP shell extension (I already know about this one).

It is a version shortened and changed my notes on the use of ShellExView (since you already think sheets):

Download ShellExView here to see what Explorer extensions you have loaded:

    http://www.NirSoft.NET/utils/shexview.html

ShellExView does not install anything on your computer, simply of runs and displays.

See what kind of search results hits you get and are looking for solutions or situations that sound like yours.

Right click and disable Microsoft no suspicious extensions one at a time take a list so you can enable them again later if you wish.

The result of the change is immediate and no reboot is necessary.  Test your failure condition.  If the Explorer starts to behave, you will know which extension is the culprit, then you can start to enable them one by one until the Explorer fails again.

Don't forget - disabling the extension does not uninstall the extension - it is just disabled so you can always turn it on again.

Disable them one at a time until your right click on do not generate an error, then restart and test again.  You have disabled the last extension would be suspicious.  You can then start to reactivate other extensions to zero on the extensions that are causing your accident

If the cause of the accident is a third party application or program, their may be a later version of the program available that solves the problem.

If you find the offending extension that's the problem, please let us know what it is that I can add to my list.
