DesignJet 5500: DesignJet 5500 cutter chatters

My 5500 fine cut, at least the Cup seems to be good, but the strawberry makes a weird noise, he chatters, as is the Cup.  Is it possible to replace just the cutting wheel?  Alternatively, somehow sharpen the wheel?   Is there something I need to look and check with the knife?

If I need to replace the cutting tool, is there a place to get a good price?  I found the knife set for sale for $85 and it would be nice to find a price lower, if possible. If all goes well, I can fix or trouble existing strawberry or replace the wheel or something cheaper than $85

Take a look at this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/DesignJet-Large-Format-Printers-and-Digital-Press/5500-cutter-repair/m-p/5603303

I had the same problem.  The cutting tool is easy to remove, but you must shoot the heads of print and unclip the front pipe of the car.  Then you can get a Torx screwdriver to remove the screw that keeps the cutting unit on.  Then it slides towards the front of the printer.

When you look at the Assembly, there is a small "tire" which is probably worn or cracked or torn.  This is what rolls on the bed of the printer and makes the sound vibrations.  You need to disassemble the knife to replace it, but it is not too complicated.  Just be careful and watch for the big spring inside, so you don't lose it.  Can take pictures so that you know how to reassemble.  Take the 'draws' down to the hardware store and ask an "o-ring" that matches.  Cost about 89 cents.  (I don't remember the size but I wrote it at home).  Set which turn it back on and go back and reinstall everything and're you good to go.

Or you can send them to me and I'll fix it for nuthin'!  These prices on Ebay and other sites are really outrageous for what they do to fix it.  Here I would have thought of it!

On my 5500 after printing something from the machine always cuts the paper.  The printer is no longer automatically cutting paper when finished printing.  I checked the menu of the printer and the strawberry is set on "on".  It makes no noise related to the cut, I don't think that the printer is trying to cut.

Are there other settings that I can check?  I get no error message.

I found the page break and characteristic cut, it's under media settings.

I changed the media type and the strawberry started to work very well.  I do not change the paper, only the type listed in the media settings in the printer menu.

  • Designjet 1050c Cutter do not operate.

I searched this forum for old cutter 1050/1055 related messages, but nothing has fixed the problem.

Here's the background info... I fixed the plotter last summer and it has worked great until about 2 months ago.  He plots fine, but will not cut the paper.  Strawberry is 'on' in the settings and the driver is set to cut as well.  It will NOT cut off when you press the button "form of power and cut.  It advances the paper and a few dances around the arm of the actuator of the left side, but never out.

Since he left the Cup, I replaced the (new) MICR band, Strawberry (again) and a new belt.  Still doesn't fix it.

It passes the test of the electronic module (firmware A.01.17), network. Scan axis is with record.  What I'm missing here?  I'm out of ideas.  Part of me thinks that this is a problem with the firmware, but I'm tired of throwing money at it without a good reason.

Plotter fixed.  There was a problem with the circuit of the value axis.  The technology could not immediately identify the problem, so he sent another refurb could take.  Everything is good now.  It will continue the fix, Member of the Board, but he wanted me to operational.

  • DesignJet 5500: firmware update error

The firmware on my printer is: S.03.12D

    I went to this URL:

    http://h20566.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/readIndex?sp4ts.Oid=82219 & swLangOid = 8 & swEnvOid = 181

and downloaded the firmware under Windows 2000, even if I have Windows 7 64 bit on my computer because I thought that the firmware was just download to the printer, so it should matter what OS is on the computer.

    I downloaded S.56.07 February 3, 2009

I downloaded the firmware to the printer file and it improved up to 97% and then gave the error message below.

An unexpected error has occurred. Make sure that the firmware you are using is a valid firmware file.

I have a Designjet 5500 and I went from dye in ink UV, if that matters.

The printer seems to be ok, but it would be good to know how I can upgrade the firmware.

Yes, a connection between the computer and the printer is recommended.

Version of the OS is not the problem here, but exact number of the product will make a difference, so please use the actual peripheral product number.

  • DesignJet 5500: print head print test very good page, but I still get the error message to replace the printhead

On my DesignJet 5500, I rswitched the ink tubes, printheads and printhead cleaners dyeing anti-UV, 81 to 83.

I got an error message saying that the black print head needed to be replaced so I bought another head black printing and after that, I was able to print a test page that shows all the colors (image quality page?).

Magenta not give not any code of error before, but now I get an error message saying that the printhead magenta must be replaced, even if magenta print well on the printed test page.

    Hello

The printer give you a warning when the health of the print head is low, but it will continue to print.

If the problem has been solved after all print head replacement can be that a print head cause others to fail

Or, just a few bad print heads

  • DesignJet 5500: DesignJet 5500 error 5015

I have a 5500 DesignJet.  I changed the ink, cartridges and the dye prinheads 81 to 83 UV tubes.

I get error printhead code 5015 (only the black print head) which is a print head "internal power failure" or "Printhead Cleaner is not correct type" according to which manual checking.

I didn't know that the printhead cleaners are different. How does the printer know vacuuming is of the wrong type, is there a chip in the vacuum?

Anyone know where I can buy cleaners printhead for a reasonable price?

Or, is it an internal electrical failure of print head? And, is it possible to disassemble the print head and set the internal electrical failure?

The first hypothesis is correct.  The black print head has a power outage.  I would replace the print head first.  See attachment.

  • Designjet 5500: HP Designjet 5500 - failed hard drive?

My next plotter Designjet 5500 has the error message: "failed to start.  Error: 1f50007.  Hard drive failure. "I took out the hard drive.  Then I took a good hard drive on another plotter Designjet 5500 I have here (he has other issues, but the hard drive is in good health) and installed it in the abacus of 1st.  He repeats the same error message (i.e., "failed to start.  Error: 1f50007.  Hard drive failure. "I took that hard drive back out and put back in 2nd tracer and it always starts very well.

For me, this means that probably the hard drive is not really the problem with my 1 tracer because I put a hard drive perfectly well in and he said that the hard drive has failed.  It seems that something has no who is now saying the plotter that there a defective hard drive when it's not the real problem.  Someone else this experience?  Pointers for me on what to look for or what would be my next step in troubleshooting?  Not covered in the manual on the defective hard drive errors.  Only how to remove and install a.

    Thank you.  Erica

Unplug the printer.  Loosen the screws and remove the print server plug at the back of the printer (he shoots just to the outside), then take the back cover off long.  Look for the two lights, amber and one green on the circuit on the left.  Lights are on the top left of the Board of Directors (main PCA).  If you do not have both lights then it is most likely doesn't have the power of power supply Board (the circuit board to the right of the hard drive).  My experience has been that when the power Board fails, the error you see is that the hard drive will not start.

If you have already tried a known good hard drive and have the same defect, it is most likely the problem.

    Tell us what you find.

  • Designjet 5500 does not print a color (Magenta), head scratcher

Hello all and thanks in advance. I'll try to be brief with my problem. I was wondering if anyone of you advanced users have experienced this problem and if I am wrong in my assumptions: granted Designjet 5500, work status unknown, for my personal use (mainly CAD). Replace the belt, system of tube of ink, cartridges and printheads (belt was shot, the ink tube sank cyan) system started successfully with print heads of installation showing all 6 colors of ink. Ran diagnostic impression. Magenta is totally absent in prints of Diagnostics 1 and 5. Not even a trace of color. I tried the calibration and fails with the error 6009, understandable. tubes of ink to the transport still show all 6 colors. printer initializes generally very good, with all the list OK print heads (because they are all new!). But sometimes throws an error 0032 00000004 0c fall detector, but not always. Fall sensor cleaned. My thought is that the Magenta Printhead is about shooting. Given that all the tubes of ink and no ink bubble comes OK. The fact that she sometimes error 0c 0032, but sometimes not, said that the printhead magenta must be fired sometimes at startup. So, I intend to replace the rear cart cables as the next logical step. Notice please! Thank you! Ray

The first you see, it's actually the flowing magenta printhead ink. Take a damp paper towel, then press the printhead magenta in the towel and you should get two lines of ink. If you need a comparison, take the black and do the same thing. If you don't get two complete lines, then you can try to soak the print head in warm water (the temp) for about 2 minutes and pat dry with paper towels. Most of the time you can tell right away because when you place a print head in hot water should flow little ink and water take on the colour of the print head. Also make sure that it is not the magenta head light print and magenta. My feeling is that if you have a problem of thin cable you get an error message since the main Board check electrical connections to the print head during initialization, and when printing. Since you are not getting a failure than this message means electrically the printhead and the connections that are very well and this is the part of print head that is clogged or not working do not.

  • Designjet 5500

Designjet 5500 very slow printing in-house and with impressions from pc. Using the same driver as two other beautiful print 5500's. Almost as if the plotter is having to take the time to think between each pass. An impression of internal configuration took about 5 minutes or more to print. Maybe the firmware? At a loss.  Any ideas or suggestions would be a great help... Thank you.

P.S. This metric has been moved from laserjet for Designjet - moderator of the HP Forum

Remove the network adapter with the power off and power back on and see if the internal printers are faster. If they are, do a search of this site for the cooking of the network card. It is about 95% of the time. If still slow with the printers internal perhaps you experience memory problems. Swap the memory and even the bootrom of the other chip to see if that makes a difference.

  • DesignJet 5500: hurt large print PDF file

I try to print a large PDF file to my 5500 and I'm getting "out of memory" and the error messages "lost data".  I tried to use the cable parallel and through the network interface.  I don't know how to check, but I guess that the printer has the amount of memory that was the standard when the printer was new.  Problems of memory seem to be linked to the memory of the printer, because the computer has a lot of memory.

I have a RIP Fiery X 2 - CP, but I've never used. Do I have to use some sort of RIP to the buffer or coil (whatever it's called) between the computer and the printer memory?

I tried to print a picture 63 "long that is 30" wide, the printer will print the entire length but only approximately 12 "wide.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Hello

You can find the firmware on the following link

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=82225 & swItemId = pl_59704_5 & swEnvOid = 228

The 5500 doesn't have an EEROM reset like the T795.

If you install the driver HPGL2, go to printing preferences > Services > troubleshooting Menu > compatibility with app 19 bits, use send as Bitmap.

    Issue.

On what application the PDF has been created?

  • HP Designjet 5500: Random Error Messages

This image occurs in the course of employment. We see very briefly (2-3 seconds) at random times.

Then, this image occurs after the machine beeps. Sometimes (about 25% of the time) this will disappear and the print job will resume after a minute or two. Until repeat error messages.

This image will be the other 75% of the time and I have to restart the printer, unload and reload the paper, and restart the print job (very long)

Please help me. I don't know if I've included enough information, but please do not hesitate to ask me, you need to know to solve this problem.

For the last error of repair:

    System error: 0d 0004 xxxxxxxx (no-no blocking)
    Problem
    Description:
This is a general error code that may appear in the
The print head alignment process. The probability of this error that appears is
less than 0.5% and there is nothing wrong with the printer.
Corrective action: Re-start of the printer and the error code should not reappear.

For the first two, that you want to check to make sure that the tube Assembly on the left side is in place.  Remove all ink tanks, then open the back cover on the left side.  The sheath is held in place by 3 levers are compatible with slot machines Assembly completely pushed to the front of the printer.  Make sure that this is the case.  You will also want to gently clean the small copper color inside the empty cartridge chip.  Just use a Publix moistened with alcohol.  If this does not help, I would buy another cartridge of black ink.  It is also possible that the ink cartridge error is what is interfering with the print head alignment process, so the first fixing problem will fix all the problems.

  • HP designjet 5500 magenta in the images n & b

Hi guys. I try to print an image that is partially b & w, but has an area of color to this topic.

It is originally the coming final image resembling somewhat a sepia image with some magenta inside. Some looked purple-ish also

How can I stop this happening? I downloaded an image showing what I mean.

    Thanks in advance

    John

Hi John, there is a profile/media incompatibility, meaning that the color profile used in printing does not match the media that you use or needs re profiling. What type of media you are using and what RIP you use to print?

  • Design Jet 5500: replacement of printhead

    Hello

I'm trying to replace the printhead on the HP DesignJet 5500 and following the instructions in the manual and the video guide on the CD (which is straight forward), but come with a question.

I have reached the stage of "Sunrise door above wagon" and a few seconds the print carriage moves back behind the front before the step of "pull and release the latch on the top of the cart. I am concerned when I release the lock to reveal the print heads to get behind the front until I had time to replace the print head and cause damage.

Why the printhead carriage moves during this process? Is there a way to stop this, so I had time to replace the print head?

    Thank you

On the right side of the top cover is a protuberance that based on a small switch in a hole at the top to indicate to the printer top cover is closed.  When you follow the instructions to replace the print head, the carriage moves to the left and wait about 30 seconds for the roof to open, knowing that he opened when happening releases.  On your machine, the switch for a reason not publishes so the printer think that you do not change the print head and transportation goes back. See if something is crowded in that little hole.  If you bought the printer from someone, sometimes, when he is assured that breaks switch for technicians find a way to activate it otherwise the plotter will not work.  Last use what you need to do and stops is when the carriage moves to the left is turn the printer off with the switch at the rear of the machine. Then change the print head, close the lid on the transport and the top cover, turn on the power and when the printer has completed initialization is calibrates the printheads.  To test if I'm right, just open the Center cover with the printer by hand or replace the print head message.  It should tell you to close the cover and is it does not means that the switch is always on.

  • Designjet C1633b: Test Page shows only the black bars

I followed the instructions of Bob and actually got my Designjet wake up!  I have his parallel cable connected to a USB adapter and programmed to the USB001 virtual port in my computer of latest windows 7-64 bit.  I use the driver for the HP Designjet 600 (E/a0), which has always worked well on my old xp 32-bit windows computer pro.  Plotter responds to the command "print test page" but shows solid black bars instead of text.  Suggestions anyone?

(I paid $5500 for this beautiful machine and it works like new.  I refuse to throw in the landfill.  My deskjet 882c original still works perfectly, despite all the improvements of windows over the past 30 years.  If they are unwilling to keep their drivers, HP must indicate their tracers have limited life no matter how much they cost.)

I'm no computer expert, but I solved my problem getting my Designjet c1633b to print designs new autocad via my 64-bit computer.  All I had to do what trace my drawings to pdf files.  I was then able to print the PDF on my HP Designjet 24 years, as if it were brand new.  I had a little problem at the beginning: my designs were narrowed and margins have been oversized so the scale of the printed image was off.  I solved that by defining the pdf print command to "full size".

Sorry HP, but as long as this beautiful machine continues to run, I'll continue to use it.
