Desktop computer may not hibernate or sleep

Hello

I noticed that when I tried to sleep extended (by pressing once the power button) or put my office to sleep (Start menu), the display will show no signal, but the CPU is still under after a few minutes, without any indication to stop.  This occurred during a day already.

I have no choice but to force closing down (by pressing the button for a few seconds), then restart. After the reboot, it seems to start normally.

Pls help. TKS.

Hello

I suggest you to check if the Volume Shadow Copy service is enabled.

Click Start and type services. msc in the search bar

Click option Services

In the list of services, search Volume Shadow Copy and highlight the

Check the status of the service on the left side if it is started or stopped. If the service is stopped, it would show that to stop the service/restart the service

If it is shut down, click restart the service.

If it is already started and enabled, try these steps.

Method 1: Try to register the following .dll files pertaining to the service Volume Shadow Copy (VSS).

  1. Open the command prompt in elevated mode (run as administrator) as described in method 1.
  2. Type the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
    net stop vss
    regsvr32 ole32.dll
    regsvr32 vss_ps.dll
    Vssvc /Register
    regsvr32 /i swprv.dll
    regsvr32 /i eventcls.dll
    regsvr32 es.dll
    regsvr32 stdprov.dll
    regsvr32 vssui.dll
    regsvr32 msxml.dll
    regsvr32 msxml3.dll
    regsvr32 msxml4. DLL
    net start vss
  3. Close the command prompt and restart your system.
  4. Try to create a restore point.

Method 2: If, however, you use a dual-boot system, you can read the following article to resolve the problem.

No restore points are available when you use Windows Vista, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 operating system in a dual-boot with an earlier Windows operating system configuration

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. • Pavilion Elite HPE 450 t PC: desktop computer will not be updated for windows 7 64, Microsoft tried without success.

I have a PC Pavilion Elite HPE 450 t, and a few months ago he ceased to accept automatic updates from Microsoft downloads.

I tried to use the tools that Microsoft has nothing helped.

Some time after, my Norton Security software security suite failed and wouldn't charge.  Norton failed to find a solution.  I guess it must do something with the heavy backlog of unloaded updates.

? Is it possible to load windows 10 on win 7?

    Hi there @LROSZKOW,

I hope you find your experience of positive Support Forum! It's a good place to find the help you need, other users, the HP experts and other members of the support staff. I understand that you have had problems with the updates of Windows and want to know if you can upgrade to Windows 10. I'm happy to help you with this.

Reading the questions you have described in your current system that you cannot upgrade to Windows 10, using the normal method of free upgrade. Your system should have the option available from a previous update of Windows, as the free update is delivered via Windows update. If you have a Windows 7 or 8.1 product key, then you could do a clean install of Windows 10 and use this key to activate your Windows 10 free documents. Of course, you want to first make a backup of your data.

Another option would be to try to load the original image from the desktop computer, and then try to update again by using Windows Update. This assumes you have a working recovery partition or recovery media. Computers HP - performing a recovery of system HP (Windows 7)  But to protect your data, you want to make a first backup as I mentioned.

Please let me know if it works for you and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.
