Devices USB 3.0 not being seen by 5.5 ESXI (free version)

I'm under 5.5 ESXI (free version) and I have recently just got 2 external drives 5 to, these are going to be my new NAS readers who are easily made by samba on a virtual machine Windows Ubuntu LTS 14.04. When I plug the readers to a port USB 2.0, the ESXI OS will detect them and allow me to add them to a virtual machine but USB 2.0 are slow and these drives are capable 3.0 and my motherboard has 2 3.0 ports then why not try to get the extra speed. When I plug these drives into the USB 3.0 ports OS ESXI cannot see them and when you try to add USB devices to the virtual computer it says no device available. No idea as to why this is? IM guess 3.0 is supported on ESXI 5.5 (free version) because it allows me to add a USB 3.0 controller support. Thanks in advance for any help.

FIXED!

I have SSH on the server and typed this command:

lsusb

It gave me a list of all my usb ports and devices. My 3.0 ports not appear. So I started the USB 3.0 xhci driver by typing this:

vmkload_mod xhci

then I typed in:

lsusb

again and then is! my cameras are now available!

Add this command to the file /etc/rc.local.d/local.sh that it will always start with the loaded discs.

  • My usb port does not work. Device Manager says he has a "code 10".

My dad recently bought a laptop on ebay. It's a HP Omnibook 900 with a 4 GB HD. The previous owner had improved from the original from Windows 98 to XP with SP3.

It has a USB port in the back & it does not work!

In fact it is not even appear in the Device Manager! I need to select 'Show hidden devices' to see same the USB hub root. The USB port has a yellow warning icon. In properties, it indicates the port is enabled but does not work because of a "Code 10".

What the devil is a "code 10" & how in the heck to solve this problem, so that the USB works?

The port is powered. When I connect devices usb load they turn on & load, but, of course, are not displayed on the computer. My best theory is that the port can be usb 1.0 but the software is intended for usb 2.0 and what could be the cause of the problem. That's just guessing on my part because I do not know with certainty if the usb is 1.0 or 2.0.

It is especialy boring being the only external devices can I plug a CD player (unwritten) & a floppy drive. It would make my life much more pleasant if I could run software, backup & file transfer, etc. with a usb drive instead! It could even than the laptop quite useful to be worth the bucks thirties, my father paid for it!

    Help, please. Thank you.

    Hi SnarFoo,

    Method1

The Code 10 error code is generated when Device Manager it has not enough information or error that has spread upward through the device drivers is not recognised by the Device Manager. In addition, this error may occur if one of the pilots who needs the unit does not start. If multiple drivers are used by a particular device, it can be difficult to determine which failed.

See the article and check if that helps.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then remove and reinstall all USB controllers on the computer and check if that helps.

To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:

    (a) click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.

    (d) expand Bus USB controllers.

    (e) right click on each device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.

    (f) restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers.

  • Removed USB controllers: can not return - "this device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

Original title: removed USB controllers: can not return

    Hello

So today I tried to connect to a printer, and it wouldn't work (separate the issue, I don't want to worry about that now)

I've seen several messages saying: you need to uninstall the USB controllers in Device Manager and then restart your PC. The pilots would then automatically reinstalled.

It didn't happen, and now my Dell touch screen does not work. I can miss several other USB controllers too, I uninstalled about 3 of them, but I don't know whether or not it has been reinstalled.

    I currently have:

    -Hub USB generic

-Enhanced host controller USB Intel (R) 8 series #1-9C 26

    -USB root hub

    -Host controller compatible xHCI USB

Note that the last of them was a symbol of error on it and reads as follows:

"This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)

If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system. »

Can someone please tell me how much USB controllers I should have and how to save them?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Shalini.

Thanks for the reply, but if you read through the posts on this thread, I think you will find that it has already been suggested that I do these two things - what I've done many times without result.

Fortunately, I managed to fix it myself.

To satisfy your curiosity and help someone else who could see this thread with a similar problem, here are the steps I took finally solve the problem:

    ______________________________________________

I was always convinced that the problem is basically with the xHCI USB controller that I saw always reported as not working not properly in the device (Code 12) Manager. With this in mind, I set out to see if I could determine what the device was supposed to be in conflict with. I ran msinfo32 and began to examine the conflicts/sharing section. After a while, I decided I could not see anything obviously problematic or direct me to the controller xHCI, so I gave up on that front.

Well, if I couldn't fix the problem with the current installation, maybe that I could find another way to install the xHCI USB controller that could circumvent the flaw that seems to be caused when windows reinstalls automatically it when restarting after the abduction. So I started trying to learn more about this "xHCI USB controller" - since Googling this term has given no end of problems not related.

In Device Manager, I found a way to isolate the details of this driver in device (somewhere under the properties I believe) Manager. This has created a custom device showing in view only a select few connects the Manager. I have spent some time in the analysis of these and found the time during which the camera has stopped working properly. Suddenly a pattern emerges. Over and over again, see you the following series of when I was hoping that allowing windows to reinstall automatically the driver would to fix:
    • Device PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_9C31 & SUBSYS_05F91028 & REV_04\3 & 11583659 & 0 & A0 has been removed

    [Rebooted PC]

    • Device PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_9C31 & SUBSYS_05F91028 & REV_04\3 & 11583659 & 0 & A0 has been configured
    • Device PCI VEN_8086 & DEV_9C31 & SUBSYS_05F91028 & REV_04\3 & 11583659 & 0 & A0 had a problem starting.

Under each newspaper was referring to a driver name, I didn't already had access to: driver name: usbxhci.inf

Now I got some new information about the xHCI USB controller, I took to Google. After much research (and not find something relevant), I found 2 obscure references to the driver who seemed at least somewhat relevant.
The first reference has been a post on the forum where someone's USB ports stopped working. very similar problem to mine! There is little of any particular use in the nets, with the exception of the reference to a couple of windows updates: KB 2823516 or KB2822241

It is not clear exactly what usbxhci.inf capacity was tied to these updates, but I made a note of them and moved.

Another article contained no mention of specific ports USB not working does not and was centered around a different problem entirely. However, he has mentioned an another windows update: KB2919355-x 64.msu

This one (as I remember) was clearer on the relationship between the update and changes to the usbxhci.inf file.

Now, I had three updates which could make changes to usbxhci.inf at one point. With their name on a piece of paper, I started looking through my updates installed to see which ones I had installed. I soon discovered that Ko 2823516 or KB2822241 were not present on my PC, which saved the penalty to guess who would be the right to uninstall first.

KB2919355 has been installed, and I made the decision to uninstall it, because as far as I knew, this update changed something in usbxhci.inf. After the initial uninstall was completed, but before the mandatory reboot for changes to take effect, I went into Device Manager and removed the xHCI USB... because I was afraid that if the new, "defective" was always present during the reinstallation of the update, it doesn't change anything.

The device is removed once more, I rebooted the system. He drives for a considerable period, uninstall the update and then seems to have some sort of hitch; declare something in the sense of "we could not complete the operation. Changes to undo. " He stayed like that for a while before the system became operational again and began to "prepare windows. Once it was over, I discovered that my touchscreen and USB ports worked very well.

Investigation later showed that the compatible USB xHCI host controller was is no longer marked with warnings. In addition, a series of USB controllers appeared that had not been there when the xHCI device was defective. I was also pleased to note that the update of windows for KB2919355 had already been reinstalled without messing up anything.

    Hello

I got a L10 for 18 months. Under the guarantee, I got a replacement motherboard mounted. Everything has been ok so far. A USB port will not recognize devices, a port is ok, but randomly turns off a device attached to it and comes up with the message "USB device not recognized". The third port is ok all the time.

  • Device USB not recognized - device connected USB has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it

I have a HP Pavilion dv4 laptop running Windows 7 Home Edition Premium and the USB ports worked well for a HP deskjet printer and an older Casio digital camera. Then one day, the laptop decided not to recognize the Casio digital camera and gave the error message "USB device not recognized" and also indicated that the device connected to the computer has malfunctioned. This prompted me to buy a new digital camera Canon. Well, a new camera has not fixed the problem. Now, anything that is connected to one of the 2 ports USB will not be recognized by my laptop. Help!  I am at a loss to understand this.  I tried using Microsoft suggested below:

Suggestion 1: the problem with USB devices, uninstall and reinstall all USB controllers. This allows controllers to recover the port USB of his condition does not respond.
USB controllers represent the USB ports in Device Manager.

    a. Click Start, type Manager of devices in the search box of start and press ENTER.
    b. expand Bus USB controllers.
Note: you may scroll through the list to find this point.
    c. the first USB controller under Bus USB controllers right click and then click on uninstall to remove it.
    d. Repeat steps above for each controller USB is listed under Bus USB controllers.
    e. restart the computer. After the computer starts, Windows will automatically check for changes on the hardware and reinstall all USB controllers that you uninstalled.
    f. check the USB device to see if it works.

This has not fixed the problem.  Then the Device Manager, I tried to update the drivers on all the USB controllers and root hubs. While some may have received software updates downloaded, it still has not corrected the problem of unrecognized USB device after the computer is restarted.  I hope that someone knows the solution to this situation and can pass it on to me. Thanks for reading and any help display.

Read previous messages revealed the solution for USB devices not recognized on my HP Pavilion as well as several other laptop models.  Shut down the computer and remove the battery and wait for about 15 minutes. Reinstall the battery and restart the computer.  USB ports are working to download pictures from my digital camera from Canon and charging a cell phone, etc...   I hope it helps others with this problem!

  • Device USB error: USB device not recognized

For a week to 10 days I could not connect my USB drive to the USB port. Also my keyboard and mouse stopped working because I was using a USB hub. It must have been a few Windows Vista update recently which caused this problem with USB devices. It does not recognize the USB devices.
