Digital Assistant Fax Setup

New Office Jet 6700 Premium.

Try to set up the digital Fax Wizard.

In the window of the installation folder, I wonder my user name and password.

I am registered as an administrator and never remember to put a username or password on this computer.

Is it stored anywhere because I don't see anywhere to set up?

mortn99,

I understand that you said that you have not configured a, but on any Windows computer you must create a user name for your profile, even if you are the only administrator using the computer.

HP has nothing to with your Windows user account set up, nor do we not access to this information. However, we can show you how to find this information, please take a look below at the management of your user accounts:

Management of accounts of users and connections (Windows 7)

Once here, you should be able to access with your username, in my previous recommendation he advises if you have not created a password just hit enter. You can also try to set up a password for your user account.

Thanks again for your time.

Here is the document on the implementation for different kinds of digital lines (think VOIP is not listed) that could work however, the fax modules used in probably all HP AIO are for analogue telephone lines only (the kind of Ma Bell telephone lines that have nothing to do with computers).  So, you could be just out of luck unless you want to pay for another standard analog line in your home for the fax.  Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but makes no sense you need to beat your head in frustration on something that is not likely to ever work.  Oh and another thing - make absolutely sure that the telephone line is connected to the fax to send/receive is the one supplied with the printer, they are not your average phone cords that come with phones or you can pick up at the local super store.

  • Problem with FAX Setup dialog box

When I start, a box dialog indicates that WIndows is trying to install a fax MACHINE and I have to go to the Manager end tasks now.  I don't want that, I didn't ask for it, I don't have the disc for it.  How can I get rid of him.  Microsoft doesn't make it easy to communicate with them.

    Hi Babs336,

    1. Did you the latest changes on the computer?
    2. Have you recently tried to install the Fax on the computer?
    3. When was the last time it was working fine?

    Method 1

If you want to remove the computer's fax services, then try the steps mentioned.

    (a) click Startand then click run.

    (b) copy and paste or type the following command in the Open box, and then click OK:

    appwiz.cpl

    (c) it may take several seconds for your computer to compile a list of programs. The dialog box Add / Remove Programs opens.

    (d) click on Add/Remove Windows components on the left of the list of programs to start the Windows Components Wizard. This only lasts several seconds.

    (e) in the components list, clear the Fax Services check box, and then click Next. The installation program uninstalls the computer's fax services.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then it is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer is causing the problem.

I suggest that you put the computer in a clean boot state and check if it helps.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows XP by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

Reset the computer to start as usual

When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:

    (a) click Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.

    (b) If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

  • Just save - unwritten - digital fax on OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g

I have the HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909g. I have the HP Fax in Digital Mode defined so that incoming faxes are saved on the network folder. Currently, when a fax arrives, it prints the fax and stores a PDF version of the fax in the network share. I don't want it to do both. Just save. Do not print.

Is there a framework where we can prevent printing to save on paper (and ink)? I'd rather just browse my incoming faxes into PDF and only those that I really need to print. I like the option to turn off printing of incoming faxes and just store them on the network share.

I did... took a while, but it's very simple, then it worked. All what you need to do is:-

1 using the screen on the printer

    2. press on the key (top, middle of the screen)

    3. press on the basic Fax Setup

    4. digital fax

    5 fax print

    6. and finally click on off

THEY're as simple as that. I was looking through the settings for centuries until I stumbbled on it. The hardest part about this process for me was getting through my exchange server... quite the task.

  • MFP: MFP with fax to email/smb

Looking to buy a Mono Laser multifunction with Fax E-mail/smb feature.

Anyone know what models are available?

    Hello

You are right, that the M521 doesn't provide any fax capabilities of the computer.

For a Mono Laserjet Printer, M426 series would be an option, but it offers no direct and digital fax software interface digital repository, which means that you can install the software and run the digital Fax Setup Wizard to set incoming faxes to a computer, it don't offer digita direct deposit capabilities such as fax eail or a SMB network file :

    http://store.HP.com/us/en/PDP/printers/HP-LaserJet-Pro-MFP-m426fdw-f6w15a-BGJ

Another option, I can think of is the series HP Pagewide who offer these features, but these are companies scheduled inkjet printer not monochrome color so that perhaps will not be an option for you...

There they offer direct fax, e-mail or smb shared folder, archiving, but it uses 4 cartridges:

  • OfficeJet 8620: Setting up the FAX for Officejet 8620 - auto-reply & cord "Fail".

I met two problems after setting up my new Officejet 8620.

I followed the instructions to connect the printer, use the phone cord supplied by HP.  Repeated trials insist "FAIL" to "Correct Type of phone cord with Fax." I tried to reset hard a few times without change to the result of the test.

The fax works: I can send and receive faxes, but why the "FAIL"? I see other messages of forum, it is a common problem.

Second issue is that the automatic response is set on "ON", but the fax does not answer incoming calls. I get the message on the display screen giving me the options to 'Ignore' or 'Accept' and pressing 'Accept' results in the fax that crosses, but I need "Auto answer" function of the machine to work. The 8620 is not connected to an answering machine. It is connected directly to the telephone wall jack. Also, I disabled the voicemail on this phone line service, so there should not be anything by interfering with the automatic response.

I would appreciate help to solve these problems.

Hello @hpuser24333 , Welcome to the forums

I read your post on the concerns and issues that you run into with your Officejert 8620, and I wanted to tender hand to share my ideas with you.

I would recommend a factory reset of the printer and run through the Setup again. I hope that you won't encounter the same problems again, however, if you do, please give us a call.

    1. On the printer, select the configuration Menu, tools, Restore Factory Defaults, Yes, restart the printer.
    2. When the power is back on select Configuration, configuration Fax, Fax Setup Wizard, Yes, continue through the installation program.

    I really hope this helps!

  • HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP FAX answering machine vs M276nw

We have the following MFP: HP Laserjet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw

Our office has a phone line to be shared between the phone and FAX (M276nw). The phone is a phone single line of integrated with a digital answering machine Panasonic KX-TG7531 model. I can't seem to find the right combination of settings for ringtone for the phone and the FAX that allows callers to leave a voicemail without the FAX modem tones interfere when the caller leaves a voice message. It's as if the fax does not recognize that the answering machine picked up and he continues to make sounds of modem. The tones are saved as well as the message of the caller's voice, which makes the message difficult to understand. In most cases, the caller simply hangs up without leaving a message (we've heard talk about this later).

Please tell us how to implement. Thank you!
