"Stop error" suspected to cause driver corrupted for user installed DVD burner.

I get a "BSOD" (blue screen of death) everytime I go out with my Philips DVD burner. Under XP Home on a Dell Dimension 2400. Installed this writer a couple of years ago and have used it without any problems, however started getting this error about 6 months ago. MS produced a report when I rebooted after the last incident - "you received this message because a device installed on your Windows computer driver stop unexpectedly." This type of error is referred to as a "stop error" that requires you to restart your computer. "I followed all the steps described in this report to address the cause of the erroor. However, one of the steps refers to "Uninstalling the driver", but it is a step of manned by menu windows which seems to me that it's not really uninstall the driver - it's just a procedure they wrote such fact, it (start - control panel - display categories - Perf. & Maint - system - hardware - device Mgr - disabling/uninstalling). After you follow these steps, you get a message from re - install the device by clicking on a box. In my view, the same driver is used. It is corrupt nothing has changed and I will continue to get this error. I would like to know where the real driver is located so I can delete it and then go online to download a new driver. However, because my o/s came pre-installed by Dell, MS isn't going to help (unless I pay for the help) and Dell won't help because they didn't install the unit and the Philips site is useless in trying to get technical information as to where their driver is on my hard drive. I checked Event Viewer - System Log and found 'Source = system error category' and the real codes of 4 parameters (addresses memory I think) [that MS would only be able to interpret] for this date and time. I might have to go the route of 'pay' people with MS, but before doing that I would try to fix it myself. Dell site will not download the driver that already exists on my HD and is the latest version. Tools Dell system does not include this unit in its analysis of material either. So - I hope that someone will be quite kind to give me any suggestions where to find this particular driver - I can't find anything that looks like a pilot in the Philips records. Try to download the drivers from the following Dell Web site and check if it helps.
(a) click on the link below
 
(b) select to choose from a list of all products Dell, click on desktop computers.
(c) click the Dimension, and then select the model as a Dimension 2400 number                            
(d) if the Philips Dvd burner is an external tries to download the firmware under removable storage called Philips in the above mentioned link.

    First of all, I think you should buy the same drive. Doing this will allow you to possibly avoid compatibility problems. I have too many Satellite M70 and the optical disk drive is really good.

    I advise to use Google and you will find many online shops where you can order the new ODD.

    I went and deleted the line of the registry and it fixed. You can always do an export of the registry before deleting anything out if it messes up you can always import again.

    That's what I found

    You can fix this by going to start, then run, type regedit. Open hkey_local_machine, then system, then control, then the class, then 4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318, once in this time more to the right side and remove the upper and lower filters then filters. Just restart your computer and your CD-ROM/dvd-rom drive will work properly, if you look in Device Manager it will be more of a question mark and it will tell you everything works correctly.
    It was not too bad. I'm also the one who does not like to mess with the registry, but when you have step by step instructions it seems to go ok. Also when I did that I don't have all the top filter just the lower part.     Maybe you deleted the Framework Net updates but I don't know why and certainly cannot be sure of this at the moment.  Your questions may best be resolved if ask you for help at http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us.  Suggest you try the XP or Windows Update Forums.

    I downloaded Pinnacle 14 Ultimate video and tried to install it.  The download and decompression of files seems to be ok.  However, when I run the installer, it displays the message Error 1327 Invalid drive Z:\

    The PC is a Dell XPS 800, running Windows 7 64 bit, with an Intel i7, 8 GB ram and 1 TB of HARD drive, I also have our domestic network attached to a Drobo with 3 TB of storage.  The Drobo is considered by the Dell as Z Drive.

    I tried to detach the Drobo from the network, redownloading the package of Pinnacle, bury the Pinnacle on a DVD software, and I still get the same error message.

    1. Check that the values under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders use valid drive letters.
    2. If there is no valid drive letters, change them to point to valid readers
    3. Try to install the software and check if that helps.

    I mean the driver disc is part of the Windows operating system (XP, Vista, etc) and you need t install it.

    You internal CD/DVD drive should be recognized automatically after installing XP.

    Test your drive using the Dell diagnostics. I describe the procedure in my guide for troubleshooting linked below. Make sure you put a DVD disc into the drive during the reading test.

    I'm working to create 5-6 DVDs in Encore. I created all the menus in photoshop. I have everything connected properly in the flowchart. The menus are great. .Iso files burned great and disks function correctly after the test. I created the range button so that the user can navigate up and down the list of assets of menu. However, I can't seem to get the highlights of button (or the yellow dot) do naturally through menus the user.

    In other words, when I left a video game to the end and return to the main menu on its own, it always returns the yellow dot (the highlighted button) on the first choice of menu rather than on the menu option that was played. Therefore, it is difficult for the user.  I would have preferred the button highlights move them to the next appropriate choice for display.  However, after watching each video unique, the highlight button always returns to the active high of the page in the menu.

    How can I control this functional view in yet to improve navigation of the user? Can anyone provide some tips?  Thank you!

    You probably have the end action for each scenario of 'back to the last menu.' When this field is selected, it will default button to this menu. Set rather the end action for the specific button you want him back (the one who played or 'next').
