Discoloration of transparency

Dear Sir

In aid of illustrator CS5, not so used to it and having a problem of transparency. My question seems simple enough, but lost.

Got 2 squares:

-a red CMYK (0,100,100,0)

-a transparent red CMYK (0,100,100,0), 50% opacity.

Without a preview of the selected overlay, how transparent red looming is how I want to print.

However, with the preview of the selected overlay, it is orange instead of transparent red = unwanted.

Got said that with overprint preview selected, how the color will be, when printing. So, I work with the preview of the selected overlay.

Noticed that there are books of pantone color, should I use those or that this has nothing to do with it? How do you know pantone color that is closest to 50% Red? Moreover, I saw there are windows > attributes where you can check "overprinting filling" we or off for a specific place. However, also has no effect on the display.

Help!

Thank you

Koffe

If what you want is a tint, and no real transparency, try to mix your colors differently, or perhaps use a Pantone CMYK selector to choose your colors.

Here are the colors, and a new mix color closer to the look you want. The first view is without overprint and the second with. You will see that you need to cut the yellow and the Red a little bit to get the color you want in one hue.

It must be something simple, and I'm sorry if it is.  I have to be using the terms wrong when searching, I'm not a professional printing.  I thank in advance for any help, you may be able to provide.  I am at a loss.

Whenever I have add a bitmap, or a png, tiff gif, which has a transparent background, I can't place it on other objects.  Whenever I do, the alpha channel prints as a slightly different color.  There is no indication on the screen, but if I print via InDesign or Acrobat after the converting to PDF a box appears.

In the case this morning, I need to add a round stamp on a color fills the rectangle.  I tried the seal as a TIFF, png and the Native PSD.  There is only one layer, the round stamp.  I used "place" to place the object in InDesign and everything seems fine.  Here's what it looks like after export to PDF.  In Photoshop there is no color difference at all on the gray background when I took a screenshot.

When I print the image, this is what I get. On some printers, the effect is not so bad, but still present.

I worked around this problem forever, usually, I just change the design, so I need to ride anything, but is really limited.

Any suggestions? I'm on a Windows 7 computer running InDesign and Photoshop 5.5.

  • Discoloration on the edge of an image to 100% transparency

I need to fade on the edge of an image to 100% transparency, save in PNG and then I can put it on another image and it fits naturally. How can I do?

Try something like the following: (it is not the only way)

1 double click on the background to layer the bottom a regular layer

    2. Add a new empty layer preceding. (Layer > new > layer)

    3. use the Rectangle tool to draw a rectangular selection smaller than the photo

    4 Edition > fill > black

    5. Select > deselect

    6. move the layer under the photo layer (drag thumbnail in the layers panel)

    7. click the photo layer and go to layer > create clipping mask

    8. click on the full black layer and go to filter > blur > Blur Gaussian to fade at the edge of transparency.

  • Transparent BG involved Keynote

When I have the BG in Keynote, assign the value 0% fill of a color some transitions are acting strangely. (I do this for export sequences from Keynote to QT with a transparent BG). Specifically, during a 'dissolution' images of the next slide just appear without any fading in, yet the images of the current slide fade off the coast. Past magic, when exported, do not have the BG as transparent at all until the transition is complete and the BG is so transparent.

I know this might be an esoteric use of the Keynote, but anyone who has ever run into this issue?

during a "dissolve" the images of the next slide just appear without any discoloration, but the images of the current slide fade off the coast.

To achieve a transition between two slides with a transparent background requires a technique called luminance combining, Keynote does not use these effects.

The work around is to add images parading on slide 2 slide 1, remove slide 2, and then adds a build to dissolve images now in slide 1.

  • Display transparency CC 2014 in QuarkXpress 10 problem

    Hi all

I just had a very unsatisfactory technical support discussion with Adobe, so thought I would ask here in the hope that someone had the same problem and solved. I'll try to summarize - please let me know if I need to add more details!

Basically I have a range of .psd files created in CS5.5. They have transparent backgrounds and include lights in external and similar, so have degraded discoloration of a transparent color confined in their midst, which also prevents the use of a clipping path to solve the problem below. I use QuarkXpress 10 and all these older files work perfectly with him in every way.

However, we have recently upgraded to 2014 CC and I made the mistake of making a small edit to the PSD and save them again in 2014 CC. They now appear in Quark strange graphical errors and all of the transparent areas are a block of all the color gradient is at its strongest - i.e. If I have a transparent blue gradient, the image displayed in Quark with a blue background Uni. I am sure that I have all my box settings correct in Quark, if no background to display 100%. I experimented a bit and elaborate than eps, tiff, or psd with transparency, created in my old CS5.5 fine, but all created works in 2014 CC does not work. It will not correctly display print or pdf with all the transparency settings.

I am in contact with Quark and they are working on the problem for me. I also got in contact with Adobe yesterday and spent 1/2 hour, said that this was not a problem of Photoshop as the displayed files ok in Photoshop itself. They were therefore not able to help me. It was a matter of third-party, I contact Quark, and could not comment on anything to do with CS5 because it is no longer supported.

It seems to me that something has changed in the way that Photoshop encodes transparency. I admit that it is something that Quark does need to deal with too, but in my opinion Adobe caused the problem it will have to assume some responsibility.

Me doing my job and I'm about to install CS3 for re - spend 5.5 so I can with things, but this is only an interim measure.

If anyone has any ideas on how to help a frustrated Designer, they would be very appreciated.

    Thank you very much

    Lee Armstrong

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and suggestions. We have now solved the problem - using a very helpful guy at Adobe. It turns out that CC works very well - manifests only in CC 2014 and is solved by preference, quiting of Chuck and reloading the file. Once Photoshop has rebuilt its preferences file, it works fine! Adobe focus on it.

  • Strange discoloration when exporting gif file

    Hello!

I seem to have a problem when I export a GIF to flash. I Flash CC and run Win 7 64. When you export I usually use the "256 colors" option like which retains the original colors much better than does "standard colors". What happens is, when I run the gif after it is exported, all white which was used disappears or is discolored.

For example, I animate a character and he has white teeth. Well, when I export the gif, his teeth become the same color as his skin (or maybe just transparent?) So basically, no white is retained in the final product.

I have tried everything that I can to understand why he did this, and it's very frustrating.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

    Thank you!

Other programs may be preferable for the export of animated GIF. If the rest of the colors are not suitable for you, you can use a program like Adobe Fireworks (if you have), once savings can tamper with the animation palette. Here is the rainbow gradient by default Flash exported in a GIF animated then re-imported in Fireworks. Oddly enough, you can see the small number of colors, he chose for this complex GIF (less than half it might have). More important still, you see also many spots left to add color and to add and change the colors.

To be clear, this is the animated GIF export from Fireworks Panel after importing what Flash exported:

You can export a sequence of images from Flash, re-import them in something like Fireworks (or any other process in and out) to control the colors.

  • How to make a watermark semi transparent?

I want to make a watermark to include in all my images. I would like to create a text that is semi transparent completely transparent one side then discoloration on the other side. Can someone tell how to do it please? I have CS5. Thank you.

    I'll show you my way:

    1. Enter the text and click on the layer mask icon. The layer mask should be all white and a small border. Which indicates the mask 'active' ist.

The foreground color should be black and the background color white.

    2. choose the gradient tool. The degraded window. Choose the first gradient, "foreground to background" = black and white.

Change the color from white to gray.

    3. check the layer mask > is active?

Apply the gradient from right to left on your text.

See the thin line in the screenshot.

    4. on your mask layer appears the gradient left starting with gray and straight ending in black.

The advantage of this method is that you can change your text without changing the gradient.

The black color on the layer mask hides the text, gray makes the text more or less visible, and white means completely visible.

    It will be useful.

  • Re: Export of overlays w Gradient / transparency

I am currently using photoshop CS5,

I have a layer that is a vector mask on a solid color. The fill of the layer is black, so when I put on the screen it is transparent. I then have an effect of gradient overlay applied to the layer that fades to a solid a transparency color. There is no blending mode applied to the gradient overlay, so that it is as usual. It looks exactly how I want it to look!

The problem is when I try to flatten the layer, or export this layer as a PNG. Black filling appears where it is supposed to be transparent, even if it is not visible. If I try to remove the fill all together and use use a transparent block to cover my gradient, it won't work, because there is nothing for the gradient overlay on. If I try to make the gradient using the gradient tool, then using the vector shape layer, it's imprecise, and I don't know any way to control how the gradient is applied, other than to guess with the mouse. I have a bunch of those forms that have to stack and use the same exact gradient alignment, and I need to export in png. If I make it in illustrator and their port on Photoshop, there is always a problem with pixels burrs on the edges of my forms.

Here's an example, the appropriate discoloration is on top, but when I flatten or export, I get the background:

    Screen Shot 2013-03-19 at 12.01.31 PM.png

I use much more of forms, some more complicated, and I really want precise control over gradients.

    Thank you!

    Try a gradient fill layer.

You have too many divisions of the fence.   Go through your code systematically to find pairs.

  • Transparent background PSD into ID

I have a few PSD files with no background in my InDesign file. Found on an area of solid color. Example: a PSD of a pencil with no background, over a blue area in InDesign.

Everything looks great on the screen, but when I print, everywhere where the area of the image (pic of pencil) overlaps the blue box, blue is a different shade. It's like the transparency in the photoshop file creates a fog on the top of the blue box, instead of being absolutely clear. Who is?

Are there settings that I must seek in the PSD? I try to avoid to make a way around each of my images.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Strangely, image with a transparent background in Photoshop and InDesign exports PDF format...

Hey, I really hope you can help!

OK, I did a catalog in InDesign and there say, an orange border. I imported an image to the layer on the orange border and it has a clear background. In photoshop, it has no background and is simply the black outline. However, when I export the Indesign to PDF and print it out, logo is there with his black side, but is inside a non-described and the background is kind of transparent, orange poster, she displays a weird shade of orange and it stands... Ive had with a few more pictures, don't know what im doing wrong when I save the image in photoshop or when you export or what! I am self-taught, (with the help of this forum and youtube) so bad really appreciate any help. I might post a picture but on the screen, everything seems correct, its seen that when I print the catalog, it is really strange! It is not just my printer-think of that - ive tried on three different places and with different pdf files to see if it was just a picture. Unfortunately, this is a good 220 on a 108-page document!

If you want to discuss rather than poster, you can Skype me as charmywoo

im just grateful for any help!

    Kind regards

Use: Indesign and photoshop 5.5 and running on pc win 7 - I can also change on a mac if needed (if it solves the problem)

  • A ghost of transparency

    Hi all

I just fell on a thorny problem that I've met before. That was before I knew about the Adobe forums, and I never got to the bottom of it.

I took a picture and extract some people out of the background to be placed on the cover of a book - has carried out this work in Photoshop. Now, the background is transparent like glass. But when I put on the cover, create a pdf file, and print coverage, the rectangular background appears a lighter shade that the color of the image is sitting on. I was not converted to Postscript before going to PDF - I've heard that Postscript and transparent don't get along. So I know this isn't the problem. Any other ideas?

  • Fixing the problems of transparency

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone would be able to help me with a problem I have a document that I am creating.

I have images that I created using Photoshop 7 which are images very simple with a transparent background.  I then place these images in my file in Illustrator CS3.

My file looks good and when I print my file on my ink jet printer all right.  But when I print on my printer OKI C801 (as I do) I get a box around my image exactly where the transparent areas should be.

No matter what I try I can't get rid of this background.  I created a lot of different images in the same way without any problem, but this one is causing me all kinds of problems for some reason any.  I even tried to recreate from scratch and get the same problem each time.  I also tried saving the file as a PNG but the same thing happens.  Last resort I tried to use different images, but once again this box appear from nowhere on my impression!

The illustration below shows what should look like the file and what comes out of my printer!

    Untitled-2 copy.jpg

Does anyone have any ideas how can I fix?

    Thanks in advance!

First check the settings of your printer driver, if the OKI applies a sort of color adjustment. Then see here:

  • Apply the transparent gradient at the edges of the picture

I found that I can apply a fade by using the transparent gradient tool, and dragging the image.  Works very well, but I can apply only bland next to the photo. If I try to do the other side of the picture, the previous fade is canceled.  I have to save the edited photo and redo tool degraded at the other side of the peak and so on.  Goal is to apply a uneven fade to transparency on the edges of the image.   I also tried the background Eraser, the results were not great - seems to leave a lot of pixels behind.  Is there a way to do it-without repeatedly discoloration on one side, economy, erasing a side, backup, etc...?

    An even easier method (CS5):

Make your selection of what you want to keep using the marquee tool, or through a series of Select menu options (- change the border (lg) - change the pen (sm) - reverse).

    Choose Select - refine edges...

    Before you click OK:

    (1) adjust the slider to feather (large)

    (2) set the edge (left)

    (3) choose output: as a layer mask

    (4) adjust if necessary

Click OK , and there you go. Ready to Place it in another photo or on a background where it can be transformed free to meet your needs.

If you choose call settings before you click OK once you have understood what you like then it will be even easier again the next time that you need to do.

  • Transparency issues: Tiff object on another object of Tiff

I have a CMYK tiff file a layer created in Photoshop, which is white letters on a transparent background (I created it from an indesign text that I framed rasterized in order to adapt the work of the police. The program shows this as a "(vecteur Smart objet CMJN/16)."

When I place the file in my indesign on project blue photography (as TIFF, with various shades of blue), everything looks perfect on screen.

When I use the export feature to create the PDF file, looks good on the screen.

When I print, the watch box, distorting the blue image behind it.

I'm not so much worried for my printer (HP Photosmart Plus), but I am concerned about sending my PDF files on a professional printer and having transparency problems. I read the other entries of the transparency forum, but none of the proposed solution works. Any suggestions?

Try to hit only 16 bits to 8 bits.
