• LabWindows CVI GUI problems on XP Embedded

  I developed a CVI 9.0 application that works fine on XP Pro.  On an XP Embedded system, however, when the application is started the GUI came but it appeared that all the text labels are absent and some controls showed no right.  I could click on the controls and the application does what it was designed to do.  I thought that maybe some of the font files had disappeared so I copied all the files from XP Pro system fonts and installed on the XP Embedded system but it has not fixed the problem.

  I developed an application with CVI 6.0 for a XP system eight years ago and it works fine on the XP Embedded System.

  Has anyone seen this problem?

  I solved the problem simply by going to regional & Language Options Advanced and set to English (United Kingdom), then back to English (United States) and that some how my problems solved.

• Incorrect display of Port settings of the WEB GUI - port-sx300_fw 14088 SG300 - 28 p management

  Running V02 SG300 - 28 p in Layer 3 Mode.

  I have upgraded to the latest firmware and bootloader. I noticed that my ports management screen not display correctly.  It displays any of the table and it looks like a few places at the top without (almost empty) text.

  There is also a window Edit to Port VLAN that does not display a usable screen - no text and a few radio buttons.

  Someone has an idea of what I can do to fix this?  MD5 hash on my download games so I think not only its corrupt, more it flashed just fine on the switch.

  -Edit - the security setting has not set the pobrlem (forgot to return to the 1.4.0.88 fw)

• Utility GUI localization CVI crashes when loading of the uir

  I am trying to add multiple languages to my project, using the location of the CVI GUI utility in LabWindows 2010.

  However when I try to load my file IUR in the utility, it crashes (as killed at Windows). The IUR was initially created using LabWindows 6 or earlier, however, it was brought and working in LabWindows 2010 for more than a year.

  Each time, it crashes and I can't continue my work. Is there anything I can try to make it work?

  Hi Chris,

  Take a look at the .uir that has been published, it seems that the error is the result of the check. If you remove the two elements that are in the tree control (so that nothing is in the tree control), save and then try to load the .uir in the UI localizer, it seems that the .uir can be recharged on the Locator of UI without error. Alternatively, if you let the elements but change control of chain type (char *) int, it seems to load without causing an error as well. I'll check to see if there is a known issue, but I hope that one of the two workarounds can be used for your application.

• Several DLL thread with a GUI

  I would like to create a DLL that is called within a c program.  The DLL would show a GUI that is updated when the C program passes 5 values.  The DLL would receive the values once every 0.1 s and update accordingly.  I wanted to use CVI, because as I understand it, I can create a GUI with CVI.  Mainly, the GUI requires no user interactation.  It displays only one card.

  1. the machine - what is using that program c with the DLL is in need of any kind of runtime or software installed?  If so, is there another way to solve this problem?  I don't want to install a bunch of stuff in a workstation before the DLL can be used.  If the DLL is used, I installed on the test station 60, which is not desirable.

  2. when the DLL is called (once every ~ 0.1 s), it must take place in another thread, so that the main program of C does not slow down the speed.  Is this possible?

  (1) application of CVI need its duration, oficialy:runtime must be installed.

  There are also ' unoficial/supported no' way to do it. Just create the installer for your application of CVI IDE and select "install the runtime to the directory of the application. Then install this to any PC. You will get run-time CVI (GUI) library at this location. And (if you're a lucky - remember that it is an unsupported action) you can just copy this folder requests to any PC.

  (2) I think that 'yes '. ICB has good support for multithreading, just spawn a thread and execute the RunUserInterface() function, then you can use the function such as PostDefferedCall() or PostDefferedCallToThread(), you can also use something like "thread safe queue" (glance at help for the function CmtNewTSQ)

  (3) he has no problem with calling more frequently, especially with TSQ (ThreadSafeQueue).

  You can simply feed TSQ at very fast speed, because it don't have to redraw immediately.

  It is not clear to me that you want to embed an Excel described in a panel of CVI or import data from the worksheet. CVI is delivered with an instrument ActiveX that you can use for reading Excel interface / write data from files. Otherwise, CVI can host Excel documents and interact with them. All these activities are conducted via a special instrument of ActiveX (Excel2000.fp).

  Interaction with Excel was often treated in the forums you can perform a query to extract useful information. There are also several examples that you can download and study to understand how to use these instruments: some of them are listed on this page.

  I am well aware of how it is easy to do in LabView, but I can't seem to find all the information on how to do this in Labwindows. There are other ways I can close a fall tips, but I really like what the end of the strips do for me.

  The CVI equivalent is called "tooltip" and is defined by program based on SetCtrlToolTipAttribute (): with the attribute CTRL_TOOLTIP_ATTR_ENABLE you decide whether to show the ToolTip or not, whereas with CTRL_TOOLTIP_ATTR_TEXT , you set the text to display. The links are using CVI 2009. There are a few caveats when using ToolTips: here a case where balloons are carried forward off.

  I met 2 problems that I can't fix right now.  I use global variable 'cycle' as my number of cycles, with the initial value of 0.  'cycle' is incremented by 1 each time that ticks of the timer.  In the Main() code, when it is zero, I call my function Initialize().  However:

  1. the Inifitialize() function is never called.  The timer is never activated.

  2. the object referencing a problem.  This line:

  ResetTextBox (Panel, tabPanel1_tbxSystemMessage_A, "not initialized");

  has a problem with 'Panel' (a global object).  I try again with 'panelHandle', and always he fouls out.  Same thing with this line:

  SetCtrlAttribute (Panel, tabPanel1_tmrTIMER, ATTR_ENABLED, TRUE);

  The "jury" passed is incorrect if the timer is never activated, but I don't know what is right for him.  Anyone has an idea on how to fix it?

  I think I found the root of the problem.  These two lines:

  errChk (RunUserInterface ());

  bring up the user interface and the thread goes in.  Anything done on the user interface written after these two lines are not executed until the thread leaves the user interface.  The Timer object exists only in the UI thread.  Thus, anything done to the "jury" and the timer object must be within the UI thread.  I changed my code to get concrete results.  in any case, thank you so much Wolfgang.

• ElitePad 1000 G2: 10 Pro Version 1511, threshold 2 update Windows crashes on 'features and drivers '.

  Summer running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit for months without problem on my G2 ElitePad 1000; application Windows 10 updates throughout - so far. Yesterday, 12/11/2015, 1511 (threshold 2) updated version of Microsoft automatically downloaded and rebooted to start installation of operating system upgrade. The upgrade completed the first phase "Copying files" and began the second phase "Patterns and drivers", then stopped (paused) to 40% total progress/23% features and drivers progress with no other response. Only one stop 'hard' (hold down the power button / stop for at least 10 seconds) worked. On 'power up' the result was a "restore previous version" immediately, and subsequent reboot restored my previous login - as expected.

  HP have a new image or update for Windows Pro 64 - bit version 1511/threshold 10 2? The update is put on hold due to a driver issue? Any advice would be appreciated.

  Finally, a solution for me! I used Microsoft's latest "MediaCreationTool" (as of 11/13/2015) to download and create a "USB stick" (08/01/2016) upgrade support. Stick created USB contained more than 3 GB of content upgrade. Started my ElitePad in my 10 original Windows operating system upgrade, and then insert the USB in my ElitePad. Launched "Setup.exe" on the USB key to start the process to level, and left the USB connected until the upgrade is completed; several reboots of the upgrade. Once launched from Setup.exe, a menu background blue proceeded and displays "Check updates" for more than 15 minutes (check the updated drivers, etc.), and then proceeded to the display of the upgrade process (progress circle GUI). The upgrade has completed in 90 minutes without a hitch. So far, all programs and functions are intact. I guess that is focused on the HP drivers updated (finally) in the current construction of 1511, and/or the last created USB stick media works where Microsoft Update (via Microsoft Update servers) has a problem. For me, this solves my problem to upgrade v1511. I hope this helps others.

  I have some problems with a control ring in a panel of the CVI. the ring comprises several elements. No matter what I choose, the result will always be the first item. I can't select something else than the first (Recent not necessarily the default item).

  When I redraws the Panel, it works for the next few days. but somday in built version (production-application) the selection of ring control no longer works. When I start the uir-file in the labwindows cvi gui editor, I can understand the problem. Even in mode 'exploit' I can't select other elements than the first.

  When I convert the ring article in another ring (F11 key), and then convert back into the original it works again (1-2 days).

  When the problem appears, the contents of the file is always the same!

  I also redraw the Panel in different versions of labwindows cvi (2010/2012/2013), still the same problem.

  another ring-control on different panels (many more controls) never come whith this effect.

  all the guys there whith the same problem?

  Hi Lukas.

  If you think the UI to be corrupted file, you can

  -Save in a version different (e.g. 2013 instead of 2010) and see if that makes a difference

  -Save it as a text TUI file and re - import (Options / Save in Text Format)

  I have a project that has established panels to use the visual style of Windows for the controls, and it works fine on my development computer. When I create a distribution set for install on my client machine and install and run it, however, all the controls are displayed in the 'traditional' style of CVI lab, rather than in the Windows style.

  Clearly something is missing from the target computer, but what?

  My development system both the target computer are Windows XP.

  To answer my own question, this happens if the appearance of Windows XP display is set to "Windows Classic Style" rather than "style Windows XP".

  Hi, I have a labview GUI that receives data serially through VISA and basically chops to the strings and realize games until I have values that I'm looking for. I have then convert Ascii string in decimal and feed the new values to a waveform. However, I discovered that some of the output values are incorrect. I checked this by pulling data through Realterm.

  Is it possible that I can see the modified data after each step in the user interface so that I can find where the problem is? I created indicators after each step, but they do not display data, I guess that its because the data is moving too quickly.

  I am very new to labview and struggled through every bit of this GUI, as none of you regular posters know. If you can suggest a solution, please know that I will probably ask more fundamental questions in order to implement your solution.

  I enclose my GUI with a screenshot of the same data through the Realterm. Basically any where you see xxxx TR TR or W xxxxW, know that it is the data between them is to say xxxx that corresponds to the data of interest. Everything else is ignored.

  I suspect that the problem lies in the string to decimal conversion and where 3 digit values increase to 4-digit values. That is, all values of less than 850 are correct but it is the maximum value is reached. My values are expected to reach 2500. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  You have other debugging tools available to you.  You can use the run culminating to slow down the code and show you the data flowing from each wire.

  You can create a Subvi, which takes the data of each wire and written to a log file if you can review it later.
