DNG file corrupted ranging from 5.7 to new CC LT

I have thousands of DNG files are corrupt!  I used LT 5.7.1 with no problem, nothing damaged and broken or anything.  I uninstalled 5.7.1 until I signed up for the new CC Lightroom package, load the new version and when I go to my old files, about 80% of import do not matter! What should I do?

There have been a few reports for the DNG files other than Fujifilm x - E2 cameras.   One person experienced various problems with DNGS from many cameras after the upgrade, and he indicated that roll back to the previous version corrected its problems.

Instructions for making back to LR CC 2015.5.1: http://www.lightroomqueen.com/how-do-i-roll-back-to-lightroom-2015-1-1-or-lightroom-6-1-1/ (replacing just 2015.5.1 in these instructions).

Here are the relevant bug reports in the Adobe official feedback forum:

DNG not supported in Lightroom CC | Community customer Photoshop family

Lightroom CC 2015.6 / 6.6: cannot read the X - E2 Fuji DNG files more | Community customer Photoshop family

Please add your vote and details of the symptoms you experience to the bug report, particularly if roll back to 2015.5 solved the problem.

    Problems inadvertently by improper use

Several problems can cause problems when using EFS. First of all, when it is not being used, sensitive files can be unintentionally exposed. In many cases, this is due to incorrect or weak security policies and a failure to understand the EFS. The problem is made all the worse because users think their data are secure and can therefore do not follow usual precautionary methods. This can occur in several scenarios:

    • If, for example, users copy files encrypted to FAT volumes, the files will be decrypted and therefore is more protected. Because the user has the right to decrypt the files that they encrypted, the file is decrypted and stored in clear text on the FAT volume. Windows 2000 gives no warning when this happens, but Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 offer a caveat.

Well, the simplest would be a backup image.

    I m using a 3rd party software. It s a Norton Ghost.
This tool allows you to create an image of you HARD drive or simple partitions.
I created an image file and stored on the external HARD drive.

Then, I installed the new OS on the laptop, installed Norton Ghost and used the external HARD disk image file to restore all the files and programs again.

But you don't need t to use the ghost there are many other applications to create an own google simple image

  • New computer: how to transfer files, including vignettes from old computer to new.

I'm getting a new computer and you want to back up my files including thumbnails

and transfer them to the new computer.  What is the best way to get all the information of the

    Organizer on the new computer?

    Thank you.

The best way is to use an external hard drive or other removable storage.

Open the Organizer, and then click the file > catalog Back-Up (or Ctrl + B) and make a complete back-up.

After you install the software on the new computer, open the Organizer, and then click file > Restore Catalog.

  • help - a few corrupt after copying the dng files

    Hello

I don't know where to post this, but here's my problem:

When I copy files dng from the computer internal hard drive to a hard drive, many files become corrupt (I guess). When I opened the copies, photoshop just says that he "cannot complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this file type." On OS x, you can usually see a thumbnail preview for each file, but files corrupt, there is only a symbol of dng, and when I enlarge him to preview it will not also show the image.

Of the original files all work perfectly fine. Oddly, not all copied files get damaged. I tried two different hard disks, both had the same problem. copy to another location on the internal hard disk works without problem.

A that someone has encountered such a problem? I couldn't find anything like it online, I don't even know if it's a hardware or software related issue.

    Thank you!

  • Is there a bug in the Camera Raw 9.3.1.520 files corruptrices of the .dng since a Drone from Parrot Bebop?

I am facing a very reduced problem. When you open a .dng file taken with my parrot Bebop Drone using 2015 Lightroom or Photoshop 2015 cc cc, the first time it opens fine. If you exit without saving the file, try to open the file, Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) will report that the file format is not compatible. It seems that simply open the file will cause Adobe to create a bunch of xmp metadata embedded in the file and write it in the file, even if it has been opened and not registered. Looks like a terribly bad practice for any software. I tried to find an arrangement in Adobe that could prevent this from happening without success. I filed a case with Adobe. Case # 187349196. I spent nearly an hour with a person of foreign support that kept insisting that ACR does not support drones Parrot when in fact it is listed as a supported in ACR 9.2 file type. Adobe would remove support in 9.3 +? I was finally transferred to a level 2 tech who has experienced the same problem and tabled the report. I expected better support for Creative cloud because I pay every month.

    Here is the temporary workaround...

Before opening one of your Parrot records, change the permissions on the file read-only (you can do this using file information on a Mac, not sure about Windows). The file cannot be altered after this step. You can save the file to another format to avoid this problem, .psd works very well.

This image shows the information file before and after opening with Photoshop. Note there is no 'save' on my part, I just opened up and quit smoking. The file corrupted on the left shows a bunch of metadata that are not in the original on the right file.

I would like to hear from Adobe soon on this issue because it is very frustrating and time consuming.

  • Why my RAW file is removed from the grid of the library after the Conversion to DNG?

Hi I'm new to LR and need to understand if this is a standard behavior.

My goal was simply to convert a native file RAW to DNG and have two files in the catalog and visible in the same library.

I imported a native heap of RAW + JPEG files in my catalog (as separate files). I did it from the inside of LR.

Then I selected and converted a RAW file to DNG (using library, convert to DNG, with "Delete originals after successful conversion" DESELECTED)

Against all odds, the RAW file (.) ORF in this case) is removed from the grid view library. A new DNG file appears in the view library, as expected.

I expect that the. File RAW ORF would remain and the new DNG would be added, that is, I see two files.

    BTW I have Off filters.

In alarm, I looked at the folder with the Explorer (inside the LR), and (to my relief), the folder contains the RAW format. ORF, JPEG as well as the new DNG format

Suspecting that the RAW file has been removed from my catalog - I tried to import the RAW format. ORF again.

Import using - I can view the RAW file, but it is grayed out. And give me the message "seems to be a duplicate of another picture already in the catalog.

Since I DESELECTED 'Delete originals after successful conversion', I expect to stay visible in the library.

Seems I did something wrong or I'm a bad interpretation of the process. Is this a normal behavior?

Also, how to get back the RAW file in library view now that LR tells me that it is already in the catalog?

    Lightroom works as expected.

I do not believe there is no option to keep the original gross as the dng in the same catalog. Maybe change the name of one of them is an option to consider.

Explain what you are trying to reach?

  • Why CS4 will not open DNG files converted from raw Olympus E - M1 files?

For several years, I was able to use the DNG Converter to convert. My E - M1 Olympus ORF raw files and then open them for treatment in CS4. Suddenly CS4 quit recognizing these DNG files saying "Photoshop could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognize this type of file"

I have not changed preferences. I use E - M1 v3.0, DNG Converter v8.3.0.141 on a Mac. I deleted the converter DNG several times, even reinstalled an earlier version, but nothing does not change.

However, CS4 will open the converted DNG files from Pentax raw. PEF files of my K-5. Weird. This is the Olympus raw DNG conversions that will not open.

I can view the DNG files converted into question in the preview of the Mac just fine, but CS4. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Don't forget the compatibility of the DNG Converter is defined to provide support for your version of ACR:

When I tried to open and import the work, I got a message that he was corrupt. Might want to return it in formats EPS and HAVE so I have a backup. We are PC based, I do not know if that will make a difference on your end or not.

Ask which version they have. Save as an Illustrator file for this version. Version options see the every time you click on save after saving a new file or save as.

Also - I have ever compressed a file HAVE on a MAC (I'm new to MAC) and I have not see this option when I save files - the measures you suggest?

  • 5.6 Lightroom cc for Mac and Canon 6 d when adding to the catalog file corruption

    Hello

I was testing my newly purchased (August 5, 2014) Canon 6 d camera shooting through the window of a car in motion and also to wander. I used the setting scene Intelligence automatic, shooting in single shot mode and burst mode. I used the kit lens Canon EF 24-105mm f/4 for the 6 d. I use LR 5.6 CC to download the CR2 files in a catalog. Before you download, I check the images to preview the camera 6 d and all feature the exact pictures - color and image look. However, when you use LR, because I'm downloading the CR2s or convert to DNG for my LR catalog, I noticed on the miniature Strip changes some of the images that are imported into inches showing shifts of color and blank white areas. After that LR has treated images as DNG or CR2s the transformed is now resemble these corrupt inches. Many images came out with sections of each image showing a rectangular area of the negative image (i.g. that the sky was purple, the orange trees, etc.) Also two of the white images expect for the a quarter circle of color distorted and negative imagery.

When I try the software download from Canon, pictures are accurate, so I know card memory of the camera and, without doubt, the camera are not at fault. Any suggestions as to why I can experience this problem and how to solve?

I use a Mac Book Pro 2012 and have my LR catalog on a hard drive external.

    Thank you.

This only applies for the thumbnails? CR2 or DNG files look OK after using development settings? You create previews or standard full-size import? Have you tried to apply an import defined by default as your starting point?

    Hello

Have you tried booting in safe mode?
If it is possible, then you can try to use the System Restore tool under Programs Accessories System Tools, you should find.

Try to roll back the OS to the beginning. Well, if this procedure doesn't help then as said jmatthews you save files on the other computer and reinstall the operating system.

I ran "SP3: <> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24 ' Microsoft Download site and saved on PC & tried to run. In both attempts, I got an error 'file corrupted '. Is there a suggestions on how to get the update of XP?

It is reported that security software can inhibit successful installation of SP3. See...

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949377?

Rather that to disable security software, uninstall may be a better choice because some 'disables' is not fully turns off. You already have the SP3 download then try this...

    • Make sure that you have the ability to re - install the security software (re - download or find installers, find a CD etc - also, to study the procedures for this with your provider support pages)
    • Disconnect from the internet
    • Uninstall your security software
    • Install SP3
    • Re-install security software
    • To connect to the internet and do Windows updates and software updates for security

If you can't count on the possibility of re - install a security software for a reason any then just go with the neutralization of him while applying a SP3.

  • 5 d mark II raw (CR2) file is different from the 5 d CR2 file? Adobe Camera Raw error on mk II No 5 d

I use the plugin Photoshop Camera Raw (Adobe) to preprocess the colors, and then complete the prepare image in Photoshop.  Never a problem with opening files CR2, usually from my own camera 5 d.  But a customer sent a few files CR2 which opens not (error says this is bad kind of document).  So far no explanation nor patches from users of Photoshop... thought I would ask experts to Canon.  Why file CR2 from the 5 d mk II fail but 5 d CR2 files all open ok?

Still using Photoshop CS2 and the plugin Camera Raw is 3.7 v.  I really want to continue this workflow (works for me), prefer not to experiment with dpp or other opportunities.  Not ready to move yet to Photoshop CS6.

No, CR2 (and all files camera RAW manufacturer) are modified somewhat for pretty much every version of the camera.  Similarly, manufacturers of software like adobe are always updated their software for the new models.  Your version of Adobe Camera Raw is extremely old, so that it can not read the 5 d 2 files.  And Adobe limited backward compatibility, so I don't know if you can load a sufficiently recent version to recognize the 5 d 2 files.  If you can't, then you're only choice would be to use the Adobe DNG Converter, convert batch files to DNG, the 5 d 2 then read those.
