When I try to burn something using Nero 7 on an Audio CD it just keeps telling me to insert a CD R/RW blank, even if it is present in it. It makes a click noise all few seconds, but is never to play the disc, or accept it has a vacuum in and let me continue to burn files that him.

I have an ACER Aspire 5520 laptop with WINDOWS VISTA... and before I continue, let me say that I have been a loyal user of Windows for many years... BUT WHAT ME LOST MY MIND NEVER LOVE! Everything in FACT RANDOM, my DVD/RW has stopped working. First he did on my Windows XP PC and I thought, well, maybe it's 6 years old, time to upgrade. BUT now its happened on my laptop. I was watching a DVD at 8 o'clock in the morning. I go to sleep, wake up, DVD players do not work. I have a multitude of technical knowledge so I did everything that a person can do without breaking the system or files or material damage. There is no error and more it can not find any material to burn or play CDs or DVDs. CODES NOT... and the reason is the following:

MY LAPTOP HAS A DVD GHOST ON IT. It is not the real player... I have no idea why it is installed, but it is. The drivers are the SAME ones my car needs.

The reason why you can not find the driver is because the player is no longer supported.

You can try the following additional methods and see if he has any of it.

    Hi Robert,.

Unfortunately, your problem sounds like a problem with the hardware with the optical drive. The player itself must be able to refocus its lenses to switch between DVD and CD formats, and also to pass the pressed DVD and DVD burned.

I suggest you tyre remove the device from the Device Manager Control Panel, then restart your laptop so that the optical drive will be recognized as a new component hardware and Windows will then be re - install with standard drivers etc. If this does not work then it looks like a new drive will be necessary.

Unfortunately you say not what model of laptop you have (the removal procedure is not the same in all cases), but in general if the car is equipped with in-house it is held in place with one or two screws accessible from the bottom of the laptop that should be removed first, then the optical drive can be slid out of its location.

    Hello, tyINtrouble

The device is listed as a DVD player?

You can check by clicking on start, click computer, and to check the label of the hard drive, he may mention DVD or DVD - RW etc.

You can also check your connections are secure.

If possible, you can try to test the drive in another machine, or another drive in your computer to see if it works properly.

If your hard drive and DVD/CD player are on the same parallel cable connection, it can cause problems as well.

We can't wait to hear back on your part.

    Hello

Try this to see if the drive is viable at all.

/ Settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 then watch the display as you launch - set initialization
order on CD/DVD first. Don't forget to when.

Try to start a Windows Vista repair disc, and or a Linux boot disk.

If the player does not start to these then it has failed, or other hardware issues
which affect it. However, even it doesn't start that does not mean that there are not a few possible
other features of the material problems affect the reader.

The rest of the message is a response above.

    I hope this helps.

  • CDDVD rom will not read the dvd rom or DVD

my cd/dvdwrighter reads only cd rom not my dvd rom or DVD

    Hello

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward

    Hello

    1. are you able to use these discs without any problem on the other computer?

2 have. what troubleshooting steps you tried?

I suggest you try the procedure below.

Step 1: If you have not tried runningAutomated Troubleshooting Services, then, please try it.

    Reference:http://support.microsoft.com/gp/hardware_device_problems

Step 2: Remove upper and lower filters.

Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

  • CD/DVD-Rom will not read the CD

I just upgraded from vista to windows 7 Home premium database on my laptop and now my CD-DVD-Rom will not read any CD I put in the drive. He reads that DVD very well so I'm up for a loop now. My drivers are all far better that I can find. I know it's a CD-DVD-Rom, because before I updated I had no problem reading CDs and DVDs. This is a problem because all my anti-virus and other programs are all on CD. I don't know how to fix this. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the post with suggestions. I have tried it all and still had the same problem. I called Dell and got the laptop computer and an hour with a tech restarted my computer and try to fix it, they decided that something in the upgrade process damaged my CDRom and they sent me a new to replace my current one. I'll get it Tuesday and weather post or not, that is the question. Just in case where there are other people out there who might have the same problem.

  • Windows 8 DVD ROM not reading discs

Yesterday I installed a few games on Steam, I was playing Saints Row the third while he was busy installing and bit after that I had to restart my PC because it was originally the trolling game. At the next startup, my laptop then got stuck on the login screen, where I put in my password/PIN and it would just sit there and do nothing. This kept going until that of course I had to go in safe mode and use that 'Everything clear, but keep your files' option windows 8 a, and am now able to log in and access my files.

Nut, now I am faced with a new problem, my DVD ROM will not read and disk I insert in there. It was working fine until I deleted everything, and now I can't use it.

I tried to use the tool of diagnosis provided by Microsoft for this problem, but it does not work. I should also mention the possibility of editing the registry does not work either.

My laptop is reasonably elderly, ten months or so, but I doubt that it is only a hardware problem because the DVD ROM shows on my computer and device manager says it works very well.

Are there other solutions for this or should I just take it back to the shop?

    Hi Taonga,

Thanks for posting the query on Microsoft Community.

I'm sorry to know that the DVD ROM is not working now. I appreciate your efforts toward this problem. It could be a software or a hardware problem.
