Do the staff client Windows phone to report a computer crash?

Received a call at around 23:00 on a nite Sunday from someone saying they were Windows.  He said that my computer was sending a large number of signals to them that Windows had infected files and that it would probably crash.  I was suspicious of the appellant and quickly said tkyou and hung up.  I've quickly updated Avast Antivirus Pro and have not had any problems.  It is common for the Windows folks call clients, late to the nite and advise a crash?

No, it * never * happens.

It's a scam and with all the names and phone numbers, one that has become very common these days. See http://www.troyhunt.com/2012/08/virus-scams-social-engineering-victims.html

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value, if you let them into your computer, who knows what damage they did here or what confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
financial sites.

  • Blue screen after installing the driver for windows phone 7

    Hi all

I installed the new version of Zune. When I connect my Windows 7 phone (HTC Mozart) to my computer (Vista SP1), the driver will install automatically. After that, he tells me to restart. When I do this, and when windows starts again, theres a BSOD with the following message:
Driver IRQL not less or equal
This only happens when I installed the driver for my phone.
Once windows restarts and gets me to error checking etc and after that, it tries to start Windows again go through the process of "update configuration". Naturally the updates are not properly configured, and it restarts and tries to restore changes. This pretty much goes in a loop forever, until I restart, run in safe mode.
I have no idea why what is happening, and search on Google did not help so far. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you.
    Euler

The minidump files show the recent errors are errors IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (a) and the cause of the error is OA001Vid.sys.

The OA001Ufd.sys also seems to be involved in the accident.

These two drivers seem to be the drivers for the integrated webcam.

What you might try is the next update for the webcam to the laptop:

  • How to transfer the license of Windows 8 on a new computer

I upgraded an old machine to low spec from win 7 to win 8. The pc is old and while Win8 works ok, I bought a new top spec I want to transfer the license to. I will not keep or sell the old machine.

There's a chance after running the upgrade wizard that the new machine can have questions that would abandon the installation.

Could someone advise best used to go to this please. The same question would apply also for example is an existing machine died and I wanted to reuse the license to a new machine

    Thanks in advance

The phone activation is not available on weekends, its best do you during the week.

If do not want to format the old machine, then its best you just uninstall the license, just in case you decide to come back.

Press the Windows key + X

    Click prompt (Admin)

At the command prompt, type: slmgr.vbs - upk

Press enter, this will uninstall the product key of the computer and to the evaluation mode, you are now free to use it on another computer.

Hello forum HP, I can use the Laserjet P1102w with USB connection on 3 different devices including a portable Apple and PC Windows Vista and Windows 7 laptop computer, but can not perform a wireless installation with the broadband internet connected wireless PC running Windows Vista 32 bit. The main message is that the computer does not find the printer even when using the USB connection. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @Kaiser3107,

Welcome to the HP Support forum.

I understand that you have a HP LaserJet Pro P1102w printer that connects three thin devices via the USB port, but you can not perform a wireless installation on a fourth device, equipped of Windows Vista 32-bit, because the PC does not detect the printer via the USB port. I would like to help with that.

Once SP3 is installed, try Windows Update. If it still does not work, or if the SP3 installation fails, you should get some messages or error codes. Post back with the error code.

If you purchased a second user PC the first thing to do, because it contains apparently data/settings of users is to recover as long as the factory (without saving old data) using the recovery discs or

    hidden restore partition
