Do vSphere Hypervisor 5.5 support Broadcom BCM5721 NIC?

Hi all

I'm new to vSphere Hypervisor 5.5.
And want to buy a cheap Broadcom BCM5721, but before you buy, I hope someone here using this NIC card user can tell me it works or not.

Thank you.

Yes, its the 5.5 ESXi hypervisor support. Find compatibility Guide here.

    Hi all

I would like to create a virtual machine with 12 cores on my ESXi VMware 5.5 vSphere hypervisor (free license)

"There are not enough licenses to complete this operation. . Function not approved, vsmp requires 12 8. »

I guess that there is a need for an additional license of VM Ware.

    Thanks for your ideas.

    Mariusz

The hypervisor free license is limited to 8 vCPU/virtual machine, you will need to purchase a license to be able to assign more than 8 vCPU virtual machine, it can be a Standard/advanced/company or even an Essentials/Essentials more Kit. But as said in the previous comment, you really need to use the 12 vCPU? Try to start using only 8 vCPU and if your application really requires vCPU more, you can purchase the license.

  • VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 NIC not recognized

    Hi all

I intend to install VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 in my own office, but the network adapter may not be recognized. My network card is Realtek rtl81111C, which is integrated in the motherboard Gigabyte. I want to buy a network card, could you suggest a good market (PCI, PCIe two OK) which is supported for VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 for my office?

    Hello

You can search for network cards supported here: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=io

If it's just for the study, you might also install VMware Player or workstation (the player is free for commercial nun) and run the vSphere Hypervisor as a virtual machine.

Does not give you optimal performance, but to study it is enough, and you don't need hardware supported for ESXi.

  • What are the free ESXi / 5.1 vsphere Hypervisor hardware required / restrictions?

Situation: I'm going to update a few web servers where I am currently under the free version of ESXi/vSphere 4.0.  When 5.0 was released, I decided to not look at new versions of VMware because of the restriction of vRAM and either run an earlier version or something.  I came across a post that says 5.1 license was different and stopped by the page 5.1 and read this http://www.vmware.com/products/datacenter-virtualization/vsphere-hypervisor/requirements.html who actually reads differently.

Questions: am I correct in my understanding of the restrictions for 5.1 are:

    1. 32 GB max RAM PHYSICS?  (It's a big change from 32GB vRAM).

    2. no limit on the number of CPUs or cores?  (This is a big change of physical processor 1 up to 6 cores max.)

    Thank you!

PS: If the only real limitation is now 32 GB RAM virtual, VMware made a good shot.  I'm not the skin to VMware, so I think that physical 32 GB is perfect.  There is still only so much you can do in the 32 GB, but there is not the complexities of licensing.  The restriction of vRAM was impassable.  Server purchase is unnecessarily complicated by restrictions of socket and core.  This means that I could buy a standard speed core 8 or 10 cheaper XEON or use an older multiprocessor machine instead of an expensive high-frequency 6 core with hyperthreading.

    1. 32 GB max RAM PHYSICS?  (It's a big change from 32GB vRAM).

Yes that's right FREE esxi supports maximum 32 GB physical RAM can only

    2. no limit on the number of CPUs or cores?  (This is a big change of physical processor 1 up to 6 cores max.)

No Yes No limit on physical CPU or cores

  • Smart Array controller, required for VMware vSphere Hypervisor

I currently use VMware Server on Windows 7 for my test enviromnent.  I would like to set up a server using the VMware vSphere Hypervisor.  The server is an HP Proliant ML110 G7.  The server has 4 GB of memory, single core processor quad intel (E3-1240), Intel 82574 Gigabit NIC , and an integrated HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller.  This Smart Array B110i controller will work with the latest version of the hypervisor?  Version 4.1 documentation controller HP Smart Array under ESXi hardware required but then lists it list a Smart Array P400/256 controller under installation on supported and start of storage systems.

As far as I can see the server itself, the Integrated NIC (NC112i) or the RAID controller are supported with ESXi (not even on older versions). I really recommend you take a look at the VMware HCL (http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php) or matrix of Support from HP (http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/vmware/supportmatrix/hpvmware.html)

Regarding RAID controllers. Make sure that the controller is equipped with at least 512 MB BBWC/FBWC for a good disk performance. Addition of write cache, makes a HUGE difference.

I'm very new to VMWare VSphere Hypervisor, I downloaded the free version of VSphere Hypervisor ESXi 4.1 and began assessing the same thing on my HP DL360 G6 server.

I installed VSphere Hypervisor ESXi 4.1 on my HP DL 360 G6 server. I configured everything that is possible, but I'm really confused to choose the type of data store. My HP Server has 500 GB SAS hard drive.

  • ESXi 4.1 vSphere vs 4 Vsphere hypervisor

    Hello

I am confused in versions of esxi.

I found on the web site that vmware Vsphere hypervisor (Esxi) is free and no license must be purchased.

So what's the average of Vsphere ESXi 4.1 version?  Is this a licensed version?  How this version is compared with the free esxi version?

I have the license for vcenter foundation and licenses processor... Can I use vsphere 4.1 for the production facility?

Please calrify this free version of vsphere hypervisor with vsphere 4.1 esxi edition...

Can I manage esxi vsphere 4.1 with virtual center? Is it recommended to use in the configuration of production? or I have to download esx 4.1 normal to use for production?

    Hey there, it's like this:

The VMware hypervisor is ESXi. There are different versions of ESXi today, are more up-to-date ESXi 4.1 and 4.0.

You can download ESXi 4.1 and 4.0 and use with a stand-alone free license.

If you have purchased the kit of Essentials, you can either download ESXi 4.1 or 4.0 (ditto for vCenter)

ESXi 4.1 brings a number of improvements over version 4.0:

    http://www.VMware.com/support/vSphere4/doc/vsp_41_new_feat.html

Keep in mind that if you want to install vCenter Server 4.1, you need a 64 bit OS, while 4.0 runs in 32-bit.

  • How to install Dell OMSA on a free host VMware or VMware vSphere Hypervisor comments?

We are virtualizing our 2012 R2 Windows Server and you have a Dell PowerEdge T310 server. We have installed vSphere hypervisor free version 5.5 on the physical server.

Does anyone know how to install the Dell OMSA? I heard that it will not work if it is installed on the Windows Server R2 2012 host because of the virtualization layer.

I read a few posts on how it's done, but I can't always get my head around it. I think I've also seen people install a VIB on the hypervisor vSphere itself?

Can you please describe the General steps or point me in the right direction on how to run the OMSA? The Dell PowerEdge server has a RAID, and we must use OMSA to see a RAID controller unexpected sense errors if they are generated. We used to have a problem with consistency RAID and have had to start again before.

He also seems to be an OMSA plugin for vCenter, but I don't think we can use vCenter because it's the free version of vSphere hypervisor.

    Hello

There are a lot of articles and posts on how to install OMSA under VMware. If you encounter problems then please post an explanation of what you are having problems with. Here's a post I did on the subject. It has a link to a youtube video that includes step by step instructions:

He also seems to be an OMSA plugin for vCenter, but I don't think we can use vCenter because it's the free version of vSphere hypervisor.

Integration of OpenManage for VCenter requires always the OMSA agent must be installed on the hypervisor. Correct, it is not a free version of VCenter. No installation procedure who advises using VUM or VCenter should be ignored because you will not have access to these utilities.

  • VMware vSphere Hypervisor upgrade

    Hi friends,

Small question. Can I put my free esxi, vSphere hypervisor 5.0 to 5.5/6.0 free edition by using the esxcli command?

You mentioned in your order, data on releases as "ESXi - 6.0.0 - 20151004001-standard" this will upgrade to the standard or keep the free version? (vSphere Hypervisor 6). Please specify.

It is just the name of the profile image and has nothing to do with the free hypervisor from the version under license. Your image profile name is also "*-standard. Software-Wise there is no 'free' software different editions and ' paid/standard' anyway, it's just a matter of license that you use on a host computer and the same installation.

  • Will be vSPhere Hypervisor key will operate the custom provider OEM ISO ESXi image?

    Hello

I tried to download the vSphere Hypervisor 5.5 and 6.0 towers as ISOs and start on my system, or afficheraient hard drives in the systems.

Systems are servers HP DL380 Gen9 I know are on the HCL.

Is it permissible to use a custom provider OEM image with key vSphere Hypervisor (free)?  Or is it not OK to do it legally?

In other words - should I take the vSphere Hypervisor ISO and customize it by injecting appropriate inside drivers so it does not work to use the free key?

    Thank you

    Big_Daddy68

You can use the custom provider OEM image to build. No problems.

If you extend until vcenter and connect, it will take the new keys for him can enter your CV.

  • Can't active VMWare vSphere Hypervisor 6.0

So I registered on the Web site, go to downloads > free downloads > vSphere Hypervisor and I downloaded the VMware vSphere Hypervisor 6.0 and installed on my server.  On the same page that the download link, it gave me a license key to use.  Then, I downloaded the client and connected to my server.  After login I get a pop-up stating "your evaluation license expires in 60 days.  There is a blue link that says: 'Assign a license to the ESXi host' but when I click on it, my browser opens and need me just to the home page of VMware.  If I click OK and that the box disappears, then there is no place on the interface for me to register the product.  What I'm missing here?  Screenshots included

And I literally just thought to it right after I posted this.  I had to click on inventory > Configuration tab > features licensed > Edit > assign a new license key to this host.  Not sure why they bury him like this, but happy, what is done today.  Thank you

  • The question whether to install Wins 2012 R2 before installing VMware vSphere Hypervisor 5.5?

I'm new with VMware.  I have a DELL T420 server without an operating system in it.  I have a question, this first step, I need to install Windows 2012 R2 Datacenter to my server DELL T420, then the next step I will download the upgrade to VMware vsphere Hypervisor 5.5 2, is that correct?   I thank in advance for your advice.

    1. you must first download ESXi (hypervisor) and install it on your server.

    : Refer:vSphere 5.5 - How to install and configure VMware ESXi 5.5 - YouTube

    2. once the ESXi installation is successful, you can create a VM and then install windows 2012 R2 in this virtual machine as GOS.

  • Problems with the installation or after a simple installation of vSphere Hypervisor

    Hello

I'm just testing vSphere hypervisor and went through the VirtualCenter installation program. I made the simple installation. I recently had a class on the hypervisor, so I thought I would give it a shot with a testlab. So far, turn not 100% great. After the simple installation on Windows Server 2012, I'll log on to the device of vCenter Server (5480) and get "this webpage is not available". It seems that I can't access anything that has to deal with vcenter server. The only thing that I know that I can access is the vSphere Web Client to manage hosts, in which he tells me to connect to vCenter server...

I have install it on 1 virtual machine. Any suggestions? Please tell me if you need more information.

    Community of VMWare YOU thanks.

Have you tried to access the vCenter Server by using its URL with port 9443 and the username that I mentioned in my previous answer?
