  If the printers are connected by parallel port, then there is a setting in device for port LPT or ECP port Manager where you will need to check the box that says use any required interruption.

• Adding the folder using XP Pro permissions

  I work as an entrepreneur at a doctor's office and add permissions to 2 folders.  When I go to the Security tab and try to add or the same view, I get a window asking for user name and pw.  The user name field has a menu drop-down and the only name in there is xxxxxx/administrator.  I choose it and then put in the admin pw but won't give me access.  The admin pw works to connect to the computer so why it doesn't work to add folder permissions?  Thanks in advance.

  This is the first I've heard of behavior like this.  When in doubt, I usually fall back to the command line approach.  If nothing else, the error messages seem more understandable.  Bring up a command window (start-> Run-> "cmd") and use the CACLS command to modify the permissions.  You can also check your user name [admin] is in the "Administrators" group with the command: (net localgroup administrators).

• HP LJ 500 MFP 525 receiving only 1-2 pages of a multi-page fax

  We recently bought a 525 MFP HP LaserJet 500 began to notice a problem where when receive a multiple page fax say 10 to 20 pages (we are a doctor's office) only receive 1 to 2 pages. We tried to set the option to receive faxes by default from fast to medium then slow, but nothing helped.

  We previously had a regular fax machine that had no problem receiving fax multiple pages.

  For the 525 that we kept everything by default no customization that is bjpg compression or something.

  Any ideas?

  It seems that we have a bad module Telec. We passed on the 525 with a 425 as a temporary test. All faxes received with success so it wasn't a line telephone or missed configuration (I realize there are options between 525 vs. 425). We had fitted out 525, with a new module of fax; all successfully received faxes.

• a Palm T5, getting Zire 71 software issue

  I got my T5 for a while and wanted to go get another Palm for when my husband and I have to wait for each other to doctors etc office.  I wonder I have to install the software to synchronize the 71 with what I installed for the T5?  What is recommended to that before I try to use the 71 with my Vista machine that has the software for the installed T5?

  Hello.. You need not try to put a username on the zire 71before that you are synchronizing.  Create it in palm desktop, and then when you synchronize for the first time it will ask you if you want to create an or use existing.   You select then use existing and new, that you created in palm desktop.

  My Office 6812 jet will print but not scan. Scan Doctor worked for three hours. Progress bar remained the same, even though is says it is scanning. Should it take this long? Also, I can not bring up the print, Scan, tools page. Have the latest drivers installed. Help

  You will have to abandon it. The doctor of printing and scanning only takes a minute to run.
