  There are several choices for replication with EMC VNX. You can use Mirrorview. MirrorView/S (synchronous) is for short distances and Mirrorview/A (asynchronous) for longer distances and time of higher latency and low latency. You will need a license from EMC Recoverpoint or Mirrorview. Recoverpoint appliances can now be virtual with version 4. ISCSI is required for a virtual Recoverpoint deployment.

  You don't have to use RS with Recoverpoint, although I would recommend that you do. SRM automates many manual steps that are necessary to retrieve your VMs. SRM will be integrated with Recoverpoint or Mirrowview and you will be able to script recovery plans. In the case of the manual recovery plans would be required and will need to be updated.

  You can also duplicate with suppliers other than EMC software. VMware has built the replication that is fine. Veeam also sells software for replication.

• Cannot Storage Vmotion between EMC Celerra NFS and NFS VNX

  Recently we have improved our infrastructure VMware 3.5 to 5.0. Managed to migrate all virtual machines to the Esxi5.0 without any problems. More recently, we bought new storage EMC VNX 5300, set up and configured the NFS storage for the early. • EMC required plugins

  Hi all!

  Have been all over the internet and finding very difficult to find what plugins are required to configure the replication table according to SRM.

  Our current set up:

  5.0 - primary vCenter vCenter

  5.0 - secondary vCenter vCenter

  SRM01 - Server MRS designed to work with the main site

  SRM02 - MRS. Server built for long site (recovery) secondary side

  SRM installed and two related sites

  VMAX EMC symmetrix SAN

  On the 2 vCenters, I installed

  -Management of the VSI EMC paths

  -VSI EMC Storage Viewer

  -EMC storage Recplication adapter recovery point

  I downloaded the following plugins and try to install them on my servers of MRS but non of them seem to work:

  -EMC SRDF SRA 5.0 - returns with error message saying EMC soultions required enabler.

  -J' I then went to the site of vmware and downloaded the only thing under SRM that said enabler accompanying EMC VNX SRA facilitators

  -Once downloaded, it contained the following:

  -EMC Mirrorview Enabler for VNX SRA

  -Replicator EMC VNX Enabler for VNX SRA

  -EMC VNX SRA

  -J' tried to run all but they come in saying THAT SRA is not installed

  The latest version of the plugin I have is EMC VSI SRA. When I try to run it it comes back with error and saying adapter EMC SRDF undetected.

  Please can someone tell me what plugins are needed and where to put them? As in on the SRM server or vCenter servers

  You need not plugins VNX for the VMAX. Using SRDF and RecoverPoint? If the former (which I think you said in another post), you simply need the SRA SRDF and the VSI Symmetrix SRA utility. Both Solutions require 32-bit Enabler must be installed on the servers of MRS as a Solutions Enabler Server talk to him as an intermediary for the VMAX berries themselves.   for my new farm ESXi 5.1, I have a lot of server and a large EMC storage one that I need to use with iscsi adapter and this new configuration we are thinking about using an EMC power path or do it at 5.1 ESXi mpio.

  Who are the real benefit to using mpio EMC Powerpath VS ESXi integrated 5.1?

  I'm not sure using it because reading a lot of problem for fixing ESXi and ESXi upgrade... There's a real advantage to use it?

  The advantage of the PP/VE on NMP is around 2 areas:

  (1) use of the track.  NMP uses only 1 channel at a time.  It can swithc between them quickly, but still only 1 at a time.  PP/VE can use all ways of concurrency.  Some clients of mine have seen 50% + performance increases.

  (2) recovery time.  PP/VE identifies MUCH faster than the NMP dead paths and opens the pathnames recovered much faster as well.

  I have a lot of problems with this group. I experience several unnecessary failovers.

  I would consider moving on VMware cluster.

  The problem is that I can't find a good reference on the VMware SQL Server HA environment solutions. The problem is how do I know that this failover will not damage files my SQL servers mdf\ldf?

  My 2 Cents

  I am looking for a solution that knows what VM SQL fails on the #1 host (VM, not the crowd!) and will trigger an another VM (on another host #2) which will have the LUN (in the EMC storage) - I I will achieve my wishes.

  To do this, I recommend always to create 2 VMs and implemented a MSCS on the VMware host computers.

  In your cluster settings, create a rule of affinity to never operate these 2 machines on the same host.

  FT might work, but there are 2 problems:

  -Don't take charge 1 vCPU VMs. Don't know if this SQL box can work with 1 vCPU

  -FT creates a virtual machine in doubles at the stage of the lock. If the main VM operating system crashes (blue screen) the other VM will likely be the same.

  The purpose of FT is to have no interruption of service in case of failure of the host. It does not protect the BONES

  But it might be possible with a single VM SQL based on HA only.

  When a host fails, the SQL VM starts on another host. Now depending on how long this virtual machine takes to start, it could be 1-2 minutes downtime. You will need to test the startup speed.

  When an MSCS falls down, according to the Setup, it could also mean 1-2 min downtime, which is the same result

  Cara, quanto ao HA, pode ser processadores different from which compativeis. Voce pode verificar is silt suportam e Mode VCA habilita-lo no ambiente.

• IX2 doesn't quite work

  Hi guys/girls,

  I recently bought an IX2 on eBay and I can't seem to connect to it.

  When I plug it in I have a white power led and HDD LED blue, but after 10 seconds, the white power light turns to a blinking red LED.

  I tried the following:

  • Now the reset with the unit button for 15 seconds
  • Now the reset button for 20 seconds, then while holding down the reset button, I removed the power cord for 15 seconds and then plugged the power back in while holding the button reset for 20 seconds

  I downloaded Lenovo EMC storage manager which does not find the device. I tried to plug the device on our network (leading to take down of our case management server and our server for some reason-oops) and also plug directly into a laptop.

  I can hear the rotation of the disk and blue HDD LED blinks it seems to read disks ok. I also read somwhere that the first time you turn it can last up to 3 hours to initialize, so I left the next day for the rest of the day, then over night and still nothing.

  Inside trainings are 2 Western Digital 3 TB WD30EZRX.

  I can't find a solution anywhere, HELP!

  Just to update you we have failed to solve the problems.

  Here's how we've done, I hope it helps someone else.

  1. Connected device via an ethernet cable to an XP laptop
  2. Activate UPNP detection, click Start, click Help and Support. In the browser, help and support, search UPnP and follow the steps to "install the UPnP infrastructure".
  3. Installed Antamedia DHCP Server and configure a DHCP scope (after a couple of turns and all holding the reset button does not pick up an IP - we are gone for 10 minutes came back and there a) I suggest you re-start the laptop after you configure the DHCP scope to ensure.
  4. Connected to the device via Internet Explorer 8 (no idea if he will be allowed on the other browsers/versions)

  I'm confused on the configuration of the UCS CF uplinks.

  the configuration is the following UCS (2 fabric interconnects - 2 different VSAN)--> Nexus 5 k (2 for redundancy - each FI for Nexus one)--> EMC storage

  I have connected 2 ports CF since the interconnection fabric expansion module to the Nexus 5 K

  I'm confused about the configuration on the port in the nexus 5 K?

  Interconnection of fabric is in Normal mode (not switch mode), how do I configure my port on the nexus? What a F port? should I activate NPV on nexus?

  is - good port of EMC storage as F port (on nexus)?

  I'm still new to FC connectivity.

  The N5K should be mode Switch FC (in front of the NPV mode).  The FI will be NPV (aka host FC end Mode).

  On the N5K interfaces uplink FI both the EMC connection interfaces will be in mode F.  You must ensure that NPIV is enabled on the N5K (simple change without interruption).  Each FC on your N5K port must be assigned to the appropriate VSANS.  Don't forget to create the VSAN on UCS and the N5Ks respectfully.

  The FC interfaces between the UCS and the N5K must be in the same VSAN (except if you use VSAN trunking) or they will not come to the top.  For even if you want to create a channel of Port CF you do on both sides of the link.

  Once your links are pointing upwards, you need your zoning and masking on the table - including a whole other subject.
