  • Log rotation

    Hello

We monitor our logs with multiple scripts, however we we see an inconsistency with the time new logs created as access and error. We would like to create a new file every day at 12:01 and should end at 23:59.

Please let me know if anyone knows how to do it with some parameters of the DS.

    Thank you, John.

    Just a few remarks:

    (1) cutting log files expected to not be a problem because they didn't get physically deleted but only trimmed. This means that no physical operation unlink() is done at the file system level, which could cause problems for the process of the DS. But in any case that Chris was mentioned, this can lead to uncertain status, so this is something that should be avoided.

    (2) with respect to the rotation of log files: it must manually rotate at midnight (stop DS, move/rename the access log, restart the DS), as additional file rotations are calculated based on the Aging of the current log file (you can see in the first line of access.rotationinfo)

    (3) the mechanism works for successive rotations: I tried it with the rotation policy the access log every 1 hour... Last log rotation before setting the policy that happened at 18:13. When the server reaches the end of the hour (7 pm) it does not turn the logs up to 19.13.

    (4) remark: If nothing happens on the server side (no read/write operation is done) the server didn't need to write in the log file, if the rotation does not arrive until there is nothing to write.

    hope this helps ;-)

    Marco

  • Journal Alerts rotation/OS Audit log rotation

    Hi all

Is this by far that I can fix it my audit and alert log size of 100 MB and it will just reuse or turn around it?

Or he can manipulate through programs of the OS?

    Thank you

    zxy

You can limit the size of check OS file using the package called DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT

    Reference http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e25788/d_audit_mgmt.htm

However, for the alert limit log file size, you must configure a job of the OS, which periodically checks the size of the alert log file and then made a change from the alert log file name.

  • HFM ODL log rotate

    Hello world

Im trying to run the ODL hfm logs without stop HFM.

Someone at - it experience with this?

I want to set some parameters in the configuration logging.xml file, but check this I see that is configured to recycle the newspaper to 47 MB:

    < name log_handler = "epmfm-handler" class = "oracle.core.ojdl.logging.ODLHandlerFactory" > "

    < property name = "path" value='${logging.folder}/hfm.odl.log'/ >

    < property name = value 'maxFileSize' = ' 50000000 "/ >"

    < property name = value 'maxLogSize' = '1000000000' / >

but my log is 250 MB, so I think that HFM does not use this config file, im missing something?

I can't found any information about it.

This problem occurs in different costumers and environments so I guess that is not a particular problem for this installation.

If anyone can help me would be great.

    Thanks in advance.

I looked at the Log Rotation, but none of the files listed in the seal appear in this article.

Is a case of manaully stop the demon, rename the log files, and then by restarting the demon, or is it possible to automate this task of cleaning?

  • Information contained in various log files

    Hello

I am new to Oracle Fusion Middlware. I have two linux system that has Oracle SOA Suite 11 g installed and is grouped, there is only a single domain named "soa_domain" who has admin server and server managed 2 (SOA) cluster. Now, when I connect the AdminServer folder, I see 5 files of different newspapers.

    They are:

    1. AdminServer - diagnostic.log
    2. AdminServer.log
    3. AdminServer.out
    4. soa_domain.log
    5. Access.log

This server is bounced every day using WLST and NodeManager scripts.

Can someone explain to me please the meaning of each log file.

    Thank you

    Alisson

    Hi Laurent,.

I mean that each individual server has its own server log.

For example, in your case there are newspapers like: adminserver.log, wls_soa1.log, and wls_soa2.log

There will be only one domain for each domain log.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Thank you

  • VM log in vSPhere 5.5 files

    Gurus of the attention:

I'm confused about something, I just read in a VMware KB: VMware KB: Log rotation and logging to vmware.log options

    Here it is:

    http://KB.VMware.com/selfservice/microsites/null the parameter log.rotateSize

By default, the virtual machine logfile ( vmware.log) turned due to the operation power on or off the power of the virtual machine.

To configure log rotation based on the size of the file, include this option in the .vmx of the virtual machine file:

log.rotateSize = < maximum size in bytes of the file can reach >

    Note:

    1. The default value is 0 or unlimited.
    2. This parameter is only supported in the host before ESXi 5.1

NOTE that I held #2 above in bold and underlined, it.  It's for real?  You cannot adjust this setting in 5.1?   It must be a mistake, because I created the parameter and value. but there isn't anyway to confirm his work unless I have wait forever and the monitor.  FAKE.

VMware someone who knows what the story is with this chime please in and provides some certainty to the following:

    (1) what is the default if the 5.1 and 5.5 for the virtual machine file paper regarding the size and rotation

    (2) is this a mistake in the article that declares the parameter above is not supported, and it is not taken in charge, then, how is the rotation of newspaper for a fitting VM.

I recently saw VM logs as large as 1 GB in size at a customer, I want to set up a quick script to change this, because many have and there are scripts available, but when I look at the scripts that have been developed, they all use this setting to set log rotation.

Please help and to get a straight answer for those who have read this KB and started scratching heads...

    Thank you.

Unfortunately, it is true, rotation of newspaper has been replaced by a kind of diary of limitation. I ran into a similar problem with virtual XenApp servers where the log files continue to grow (some Go! in about a month) until the virtual machine is able to roll or vMotioned.

  • ESX Server 3.5 log collection

    Hi all

I was hoping that someone in the community may be able to help me with a question:

We collect newspapers of ESX 3.5 servers, these newspapers come together for security and audit purposes. For security reasons we can't use rotated logs and log rotation will be turned off. Journal gathing can be quiet, completed by ensuring all the information together, nothing more polished, demons are sent signals to suspend newspapers are obtained.

I tried to find information on what demons in memory write in newspapers, if these demons keep newspapers to open all the time, should they syncs, can we send thos sighups demons without messing up the virtual machines running on the server or the communication of these virtual machines.

    Q. what demons write in newspapers.

    Q. what demons keep newspapers open permanently, or need for synchronization

    Q. can I use sighup or another signal to get uptodate own newspapers.

I have a feeling that this will have to be answered by a real Director of VMWARE (ESX Server) and I hope that that person reads this.

Well, I'm glad that you came to a conclusion and actually use logrotate is one practice that CIS, STIG, Tripwire, security of VMware for lockout procedures guides.

If you found this information useful, please consider awarding points to 'Correct' or 'useful '. Thank you!!!

  • Not connected to the SOA - no user domain server

    Dear Experts,

I get the following error when tying to connect to the server from SOA.
Error: any area accessible to the user connected.
Also, I am not able to create the new domain and not able to find the default domain.
Please suggest me that how can I connect on SOA.

    Thank you
    Rajesh

    Hi Renon,

    Check 1:
    First control point where we can identify the details of the description of the error is to check the following log files;
Field of LOG: $SOA_Home\bpel\domains\default\logs\domain.log ('by default' is the default domain name)
-Log file will be created whenever the SOA service is started and will record all domain level starting problems
    OPMN journal: $SOA_Home\opmn\logs\OC4J~oc4j_soa~default_group~1.log
-Log file will record all BPEL process specific newspapers (creation/termination)
    System log: $SOA_Home\bpel\system\logs\orabpel.log
-System-level logging is provided for infrastructure, AXIS and WSIF questions

All of these logs should give a clear picture about the error that could be causing this issue, based on which you can take the necessary measures.

    Check the 2:
Check if the database on which Oracle SOA suite has been installed up & running. If this is not the case, ensure that the listener to RDBMS is running & SOA services is restarted.

    Check 3:
The Oracle SOA suite will be installed on top of a database (Oracle Lite / external Oracle DB), where three patterns would have been created during installation namely Orabpel, Oraesb, Orawsm. These patterns have been corrupted (or) their password might have gotten changed that throws "no area accessible to the user connected." error in Oracle BPEL console. Ensure that all 3 patterns are present in the database and their passwords are intact as specified in datasources.xml/during installation and restart the SOA services after corrections.

    4 date of arrival:
If no class file have been added in the following SOA, ensure that they are properly compiled and deployed @ $SOA_Home\bpel\system\classes.

    5 date of arrival:
If you have added custom for use in the process BPEL xpath functions, you can add the entries in the $SOA_Home/bpel/system/config/xpath-functions.xml. Ensure that this file is well-formed.

    6 date of arrival:
If you have deployed all BPEL process recently, after which the Oracle BPEL console throws this error, there could be a great chance for the deployed BPEL process issues.
All the deployed BPEL processes will be picked up from the following location. Take backup of existing processes, delete all the entries, and then restart SOA services.
$SOA_Home\bpel\domains\default\tmp ("default" is the default domain name)

    Reference: http://sathyam-soa.blogspot.com/2009/01/oracle-bpel-console-throws-no-domains.html
