Don't UCS Mini Support 2 chassis configuration?

Hello, I found in the data sheet that takes care of the UCS 6324 up to 15 servers, 8 in the chassis and the direcct 7 annexed UCS C series.

http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/servers-unified-computi...

the Cisco UCS 6324 fabric Interconnect incorporates connectivity in server chassis blade Cisco UCS 5108 to provide a smaller area of up to 15 servers (8 blade servers and up to 7 connection direct rack servers).

But I have some heads a Cisco presentation that the UCS Mini can support up to 2 chassis 5108 (which one with the FI 6324 and the other with 2208XP, 2204XP or 2104XP fabric Extenders FEX but I can't find the documents related.)

Could you please confirm this point? There is a documentation?

Thank you very much and best regards,

Raquel

I have

Real! FCS + 3 months?

However, I have seen a lot of customers with the classical configuration of UCS and 2 chassis. Cisco offered and offers very attractive bundles, which makes such an entry of low size attractive.

  • Activation failed for controller board B200 M4 7.0 with UCS Mini 3.0 firmware (2 c)

The blades of B200 M4 comes with firmware of the controller Office 7.0 and the UCS Mini comes with the latest code of 3.0 (2 c).  Once associated with a Service profile, the firmware controller board 7.0 activation fails.  The blade software 3.0 (2 c) comes with the 6.0 Board controller firmware.  I downloaded the firmware 2.2(5a) blade server package, so that the UCS to 'see' the firmware 7.0.  Then, I changed a bunch of firmware 3.0 (2 c) host to include firmware controller board for the M4 B200 but activation 7.0 still does not work after reboots.  Reacknowledging the blades does not change the result.  Any ideas?

    Michael,

You did the right thing by adding the 2.2.5a firmware.

    Were you running CLI activation?

    #scope Server X / Y (blade chassis X Y)
    # scope boardcontroller
    # Display image (this will list all versions of firmware)
    # enable force version.0 firmware (Select a version lower than that already running)
    buffer validation #.

If the foregoing is successful then reset MMIC

    Try--->

In the firmware of the political host do not check the controller board for the B200M4 leave the field blank. Then manually activate tab firmware installed in the server.

  • UCS-Mini vNIC speed subframe

    Hello

We have a new UCS-Mini with a connected secondary frame, we have identical B200 M4s filled in each chassis, ESXi running.

At a level of vCenter that all the vNIC reported for the blades in the main frame are displayed as the 10000Mbps, while all blades in the secondary frame say 20000Mbps by VNIC but as far as we can tell are all the same material and should all be at top speed.

All blades are supplied via the same policies of UCS etc. so we do not know why the main chassis is not full speed, we expect.

Happy FI etc. etc. details as needed.

    See you soon.

Jim. You have answered your query. NIC speed reflected on the operating system depends on the number of substantive connections in basket to the blade of the IOM.

    .

In FI 6324 with VIC 1340 - each FI/IOM 1x10G a trace by blade by fabric

In 2208 with VIC 1340 IOM - IOM each 2x10G a trace by blade by fabric

This is why the operating system sees 20G speed on blades of connection to the IOM 2208, which has basically more of basket of ports background blade.

When you attempt to connect to the VPN Aventail I get th e following in a "Connection error" message box: "you don't have enough privileges for the configuration of the connection properties. Contact your administrator. That this connection has worked before. I suspect a MS patch for breaking it. Any help would be appreciated.

We have solved the problem yesterday, by simply reinstalling the Aventail software.

I spoke to network administrators and nothing had changed, so it's quite strange.

  • How to read the papers of ucs tech support

    Hi team

Can you please tell me how to read the newspapers of ucs tech support to find out hardware problems

    Greetings.

Your question is probably something that is difficult to address in this format.

Hardware and firmware is so rapidly changing, so are the various capabilities of diagnosis (and how, when, where they write to newspapers).  I think that it would be virtually impossible to maintain a full guide updated content of tech support file and how to interpret them.

That being said, there are some more frequent for both blade/UCSM and stand alone C series servers such as SALT that connects usually record the major mistakes such as chess DIMM, HD failures, etc.

There are general troubleshooting guides such as http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/ts/guide/UCSTroubleshooting/UCSTroubleshooting_chapter_0111.html

There are also courses that correspond to the review DCUCT 642 - 035 http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/training-events/training-certifications/exams/current-list/dcuct.html entering some details by looking at newspapers, among other things.

Is there some hardware problems that you try searching?  You have some sort of polling app that parses the files you are trying to Setup alerts for, etc.?

    Thank you

  • UCS Auto-deploiement of the configuration using PXE and double vNIC

We are trying to set up Auto deploy blades UCS B200 M3.  Our facility has the chassis connected to double 6248 fabric interconnects.  We managed to get this to work when the blades have been identified by the MAC configured on the DHCP (Infoblox) server address.  However, in trying to solve the scenario of the tempting PXE server start using either NIC, thus having two MAC addresses, this scenario could not be supported on the DHCP server (mapping two MAC addresses to a single IP address).  Then we had the idea of using the GUID/UUID of the blade as a unique identifier, as it is the same regardless of the NETWORK card is used.

We tried to put in place, but were unsuccessful.  Blade sends its ' GUID by using the option DHCP 97, but the DHCP server is only looking for the customer ID via DHCP Option 61.  We have not been able to determine how, otherwise, the blade server can send its ' GUID via DHCP Option 61 and Infoblox tells us that their server may not be configured to accept the Option DHCP 97 as a customer identifier.

Someone has encountered this situation and it is resolved?  It is certainly not a unique situation, having a server blade with two network adapters.

Thanks in advance for your answer.

    Ron Buchalski

That's why you need to select the 'hardware failover flag' in the definition of a vnic. If your vnic is attached to A fabric and a fails, you will automatically turn on to the B-fabric.

    Hi all

I am new to the solution of the UCS and tried recently updated the BIOS via the host update utility and MMIC. There were a few warnings version that prevented the upgrade, but I was able to update the firmware of the NETWORK adapter.

CIMC is at version 1.0.2 and BIOS at C200.1.4.1.0.071320110702.

I'm not sure how to read the version of the BIOS however.

When the server is turned on, there are 3 long beeps and it crashes to the configuration and memory test, please wait...

In any case, I am tired of the BIOS recovery procedure using the J1E5 jumper without success.

    If anyone has experienced this?

    Thank you in advance.

    Calvin.

Host upgrade utility is not supported until version 1.2.

This may have been the cause of some of your upgrade issues.

You run a BIOS of 1.4 to what I see. You will need to update your version MMIC for version 1.2 and the. Use the HUU to 1.4

  • UCS 220 M3 LSI raid configuration

    Hi all

Really struggling here set up our disks/RAID on our server.

We ordered with the lsi megaraid 9271-8i.

By reading the documentation (http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C220/ins...) it seems that we should have to use the following:

UCS in disabled bios - done.

Then set up the RAID, we want with the disks we want (we have 8) you should get a prompt after post Ctrl + M

    I never see this message?

I even went through the process of post whole spamming Ctrl + M without seeing any kind of raid configuration options.

    Something I am doing wrong?

    Appreciate any advice.

In your config file in the BIOS ("Advanced" tab) in the MMIC, confirm that you have "Option ROM' enabled for the PCIe slot where the RAID controller is installed and disable all others, go into BIOS and confirm that the integrated RAID controller is disabled and then reboot the server... Once you see the list of disks during POST, press Ctrl +H, Ctrl + M is the integrated RAID controller. (The controller form factor of mezz is Ctrl + C, as explained here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/unified_computing/ucs/c/hw/C200M1/i...)

  • Design network blade chassis configuration

What would be the best practices for a new vmware environment which is an HP blade chassis with 4 3020 switch cisco and brocade switch 2

The blades are blades half so it would be a total of 4 physical network interface cards.  I was planning to Channel 4 port fiber ethernet ports per switch.  All 3020 switches will feed a single main switch.  Each Brocade each feed to two san switches.

Yes, it's what you do on the blade switches to make sure that all the downlink ports go down if all uplinks fail.

On the main switch, you must configure the channel as usual, there is nothing special that needs to be done because of the State group of links on the switches of the blade. If the main switch has several modules/slots, connect uplink to a switch blade or module can fail without interrupting production.

As far as I know this will work with a digital output only sound. At your Tecra this optical port? I don t think so. I know that Toshiba multimedia notebooks have a.
So I think that you cannot connect to 5.1 surround sound directly on your Tecra.
